Thanks Mat glad you enjoyed the video. I've done a few miles this year already with little success think he was the 4th deer I've seen hunting for 2020 ! Wouldn't mind if every 4th deer i saw was the same calibre as him though 😆👍
Great watch mate, really enjoyed that. Weathering the wet stuff to come out with a smile on the dial. Good gear tips and packing tips. I had a good chuckle at the bare leg river crossing! No sun on them for decades 🤣 Actually from a safety perspective I take off my pants and gaitors in a flooded river too just to reduce drag but I’ll still wear boots for stability. Thanks for sharing mate. Ripper stag!!

Awesome Stag mate! Good camping gear too.. should mention how the sitka gear you’re wearing holds up in the tough conditions you’re hunting in. Great content
I was waiting to see if you posted a vid of a few weekends ago when I spotted ya up on moroka range rd boiling brew. She was a cold wind Saturday that one
🤣 that would have been a very dull video that one mate . Was more of a nature walk than a hunt. And more flora than fauna 👎. Had a camera in there over covid lockdown which did have a handy stag on it along with at least 6-8 wild dogs.
She was a very cold and windy weekend that’s for sure. I took a friend who just moved to sale from tassie up for a day trip and almost got blown off mt Wellington 😂
Hey Josh, Looking at the ground it looks like a couple of years since the burn in that area. We have had some major fires but as I have said the main reason for the feed is also the exceptional rainfall we have had through the end of summer and autumn this year, something we have not had for a long time. Definitely makes for the healthy animals. Last year they were starving from no rainfall and looked terrible. It should be a good year to get a decent head. (that is a stag I'm talking about).
Hey Kiwi bushman love you channel and cant wait for my 2 boys to get strong enough to get out there with me like your young bloke. The area was burnt 18mths ago so it should produce some healthy animals for a couple of seasons. Thanks for the comment and watching the vid.
Real nice stag mate and good country by the look of it. You are right what you say, I hunted some fire regen a couple weeks ago and big healthy animals running around.

Zebra's Sambar hunting adventures. Brett has my mobile mate. Iv got plenty of places you boys can go. They start roaring anywhere from mid to end March until end of April generally depending on where the property’s are. Bit slow this year coming out of a drought and then the fires came through but it’s greened back up now. Roared up some really good young stags I’ll send Brett a video get him to forward it to you. Your welcome anytime. I’ll keep in touch 👍
Great video mate, thanks for sharing you're a legend, I been hunting in Victoria for 6 years now im yet to spot a stag, always trying to learn where and how to find them.. I been trying Mansfield last 4 years as everyone tells me they're everywhere there but I only spot fallow deer which I never shoot. Please if you know easier terrain in Victoria I can hike and hunt that will be great, because Mansfield is way too dense and I've had an Acl operation 2 years ago and I'm struggling to find easier spots to hunt. Thanks
deer wont completely move out if you shoot one but they might not use that paddock or gully for a week or 2. Predation is natural for all prey animals and they have lived with it forever so they learn from being hunted. Hunting pressure makes them smart , nocturnal but dosnt necessarily make them move away.
Firstly congratulations on taking that awesome animal, heavy all the way to the top and I love the way they look when they are wider. I can't believe Mark hesitated? Did he owe you one or something? Loved the video, keep it up and don't listen to them about the legs, we'd all like to cross deep rivers and keep our balls dry.
hey Solo sambar hunter cheers for the comment. Nah Mark didn't owe me anything if anything I owed him one or 2 now, he is quite a successful hunter and rarely shoots in haste so I think he was just waiting for a better look but when I saw the stag looking in our direction I thought it was now or never and I didn't want to see him escape either of us. And yeah those legs have done a good job of keeping the tackle dry over the years. Thanks for watching
