Used to see lots of lyrebird nests in toolangi then they had feral cat problem then the 1080 came out and then the lyrebirds came back . Much as I’m not a fan of 1080 it’s the only way in thick stuff we can keep feral numbers down . Great vid keep em comming 👌
Just wait until what I call the Sambar bug bites you. Once it does all you'll be able to think about is big stags and where they will be and when and why and it never stops 😆🦌👍 i was bitten decades ago and I've never recovered from it!
@@zarkan88 hey mate my Dad was a hunter and as I got older we kind of learnt how to hunt Sambar together. He was always more than happy to see me do all the shooting and therefore I've ended up with most of the heads on the wall but yeah he started me off in the right direction. I have mates that have shown me the back packing side of it but a lot has been picked up through trial and error.
Zebra's Sambar hunting adventures. I would really like to have someone showing me. Nobody is hunting in my family so I just hike lol. But going with someone and learning would be awesome.
Just wondering what bullets you use for the closer range stuff? Or do you have an all-rounder? Love watching your videos mate. Natural on camera. Not many can pull that off.
Hey mate I run a 270gn ELD-X up the spout followed by 225gn SN PP Woodleighs. Why ? cause the 270gn are seated too long to feed through mag but I want the horse power of them for the first shot over 5200ft/lbs @ the muzzle plus if I get an opportunity at a longer shot my turret is dialed in for the 270gn ELD-X so I don't need to change the bullet in the gunnfor the shot.
Good to see someone local is seeing them. I’m going through a rough patch can’t seem to get onto a deer no matter how often I go out. Even done a few trips with the hounds and can’t get on
Lyrebird nest for sure mate, long skinny tail feathers for the nest like you said. Pretty special. Hope those bastard dogs don’t find it... Great video as always
Thats hard mate I had my Dad to show me. Id suggest finding a hunting club/group and joining them and attend all the meetings and some have club hunts etc. Going it alone isnt impossible either so dont be afraid to buy some hunting books on the animals your interested in hunting reserch on UA-cam and just start with baby steps learning for yourself with anything is the most rewarding .
Another great descriptive video buddy, always heaps to learn while doing a walk through the bush looking for the elusive one...hoping to get out of this metro melb lockdown soon and get amongst it too..... hope you continue to increase your subscriptions buddy........happy days
Nice one mate few deer out there for you I've only eva seen Lyerbird nest before its on the back of my farm and it looks pretty much the same as that one nice find
Yeah they are definitely worth paying attention to. Multiple times I've heard birds making a heap of noise to then be looking at a deer so obviously they give their position away as much as they give ours away. I was tracking a stag once after finding a fresh rub tree, slowly moving into the next gully I heard and then saw a Wonga pidgin take off, after glassing that area for about 30sec I saw the stag standing there watching me. When your in the bush you need to pay attention to everything.
@@ZebrasSambarhuntingAdventuresmakes sense cos 1 time I reckon I was close to a samba and birds started being more noisy/ alter. Maybe the deer was holding tight in the thick scrub.
Fantastic footage and info mate. fantastic to see the deer so close and the different types of wildlife. That bush bash out was a bit of a challenge 😂. Look forward to the next one . Take it easy.

Cheers mate for the comments. Dingos have their place but these are 98% wild dogs which do nothing but cause problems for our natives and farmers livestock. Don't forget dingos where introduced by the aboriginals so therefore aren't native and in doing so they wiped our mainland devils and tigers.
