Awesome hunting story. And to be able to do it with a close friend. I’m 55yrs old now and I shot my first deer with a bow when I was 13 yrs old. My father was with me for that hunt. Great memory.
I was an archer 40 years ago and in the army, but haven't picked up either weapons since I left but my friend has a 4 some that gets a tag here every year and share it and since they are alone I normally get a roast or something. Next year I think I have to get my license as one just passed away so I have to get my license as I love Moose burgers and roasts....love them. Never had bear yet.
Congratulations! I love the story of the hunt. People just sit in deer blinds these days. I enjoyed that yall actually worked for it. Makes for a much better joy for sure. Have a great week. Thanks for sharing.

Having watched several hunts online both rifle and bow, the sheer difficulty, adrenaline dump, and trailblazing miles on foot hauling 5oo lbs out of the bush is not conveyed in Shawns humble narrative. This man is truly a god like Hunter, and friend to drop everything and answer the call of the wild. Thank you, I can't wait for some more pics, and I hope next time you are wearing a police chest cam. Who knew your story online was truly a call to action vs an opportunity to live vicariously through your epic film making. Unfortunately a year from now the majority of us will wish we had at least attempted to take action and prepare for a new way of life that is to come and now is.

Congratulations…Mr. James! 🥳 My brother got his Big Horn Sheep in Wyoming! My husband will be hunting later on …last week of October…for deer! Nice moose…so happy for YA!!! Good eats! Yum in the tum!😋👍🏻
Shawn, I can’t remember why your porch posts are raised up, on big bolts. Maybe you could either tell me why? So, that’s a fair amount of freezer meat from that beautiful, trophy moose bull. Way to go, Shawn! Thanks for sharing…from an old man in the US, hills of Tennessee.
Because new cabins are going to settle over the first few years. He can adjust the screw jacks to help the columns compensate for any shifting and settling. Usually he has collars around the bases to hide the screws.
Awesome story. Not sure if I'll ever have the balls to hunt moose. I have a 55 Lb. Bighorn Ram Hunter Longbow that needs to get dusted off. Last week I scored a 45 Lb. Bear Super Magnum 48 recurve, year marked 1953. In near perfect shape . I paid, get this seven bucks for it at a flea market .
Congratulations on your bull moose . Looks like a nice one . We here in the south in Arkansas hunt turkeys kinda like y’ll hunt moose . It’s miles of walking and calling and setting up in cover when we find and start working a gobbler . It’s all fun and exciting in the woods hunting whatever your after . I really enjoy all your videos .
I've spent most of my life in Minnesota and traveled to Ontario many time when I was a kid. Many Summers we'd spend a week fishing Elephant Lake (Kukukus) near Ignace. Once flew into Lake Wabakimi on fishing trip. Many, many great Ontario memories. )
What luck ! That was cutting it close to get that moose in . Bet your friend was happy after spending many days coming up empty . Never hunted , but always heard and read that it's a lot of work - the hunt then dispatching the carcass and carrying it back . My hunt is more simple just having to dodge the shopping carts and standing in line at check-out ( lol ) .
I used to call them in here in AB. Never shot one with a bow but I remember missing a 2 year old at about 6 feet with a rifle. He was too close to see in the scope. I called him in from about 300 yards. He came in at a dead run. I was behind a small spruce he was on the other side. All I could see was his head. I used to shoot one every year but haven't in many years since I turned mostly vegetarian. After I got good at calling them and knew where they typically rutted it was like shooting fish in a barrel. I'm glad I missed that young bull in hindshight. I prefer not killing things nowadays. I enjoyed the time outdoors. Still do. I called several in for fun with my wife. Had to chase some away. Dumb as dirt in the rut. Lol. Good memories. Congrats on the hunt :)
Huge congrats .... you've had one heck of a hunting season. Yes, you have to put in the work .... and that may be too much for me now unfortunately. I have always been about the place I hunt and fish ..... more so than the actual harvest. If I'm going to be in the woods from sunup to sundown, it has to be in a place I really enjoy. Most of my memories are about sitting and watching the woods wake up. You are definitely doing it right, and are making your own wonderful memories for yourself, your wife and girls, plus the pups you've had over the years. Cali is living her best life for sure🦮 Take care, and continued success in all you do Shawn👍🏻✌🏻🌲🍁🏹
Really enjoyed hearing about your great hunt. Twelve feet on the ground from it. That must have been really exciting having such a large, wild animal so close.
Great score on the moose! If you hunted where the red X is on the map, then you were south of Lac Seul. I have fished the Lac Seul for 40 years, and have flown out of goose bay.

Elk hunting just started in our area across the Northern States. I actually had a bull Elk out behind our barn. I, at first, thought it was a neighbor's horse. Sent it off.
