I have the same watch but with a black dial since 2010; and it had never been serviced. I go trekking / hiking and do sports with it. It’s built like a tank.
Ive been seriously eyeing a Ball watch. They seem to be a polarizing brand, but I dont really see why. They seem to be well made, Swiss, automatic, most are chronometer certified, Tritium utilizing, and seemingly well priced for what you get (especially grey market). Anybody able to tell me any faults?
I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with Ball, they make a solid product of good quality, and have an interesting history. However they do not make their own movements (until recently) and also probably do not have a big marketing budget (hence less well known)... combined with the asking price and sometimes not so popular designs I suppose people are finding more compelling products elsewhere. Nonetheless, if there is a Ball model you particularly like, then you will find it's a solid Swiss product. Cheers, Ivan.
I used to have a ball engineer hydrocarbon spacemaster orbital 2 very reliable watch and uses a modified val/eta 7750. It is not chronometer like other ball watches line up but it performs like one. Im surprised that it is the top of the range but not chronometer. Anyhow I sold it and liquidate all my watches and settle down with just 3 pieces. Nice review as always.
Thanks for the solid comment! Yeah I do wonder if some of their "not chronometer" pieces are in fact adherent to the Railroad Std. Would definitely explain the performance as that standard exceeds COSC levels. Curious to know - what 3 pieces do you have now?
Perth WAtch rolex sub ND 114060, omega MOTM and TH cal36 flyback black racer. I based here in perth as well. Yeah I wonder if the non chronometer is a railroad standard and no info even on the ball website. But it performs really well though. But its sz is just a boss! Thanks
Another nice presentation! I am looking at a new Engineer Hydrocarbon Airborne Chronometer Automatic Black Dial Men's Watch DM2076CS1CAJBK for $1399 for a brand new one from an online store. Yet, I am not sure if this watch is worth the retail of $4,399.00 which they proclaim. What is your thought in it? Thanks :)
Hi there! I think $1399 is a very fair price for the solidity and quality of a Ball chronometer... definitely not the retail price listed, which nobody should ever pay. Hope that helps! :) PS. Just beware that Jomashop is a grey retailer, meaning you won't get manufacturer warranty.
Thanks Ken! I think Ball watch design and sensibilities isn't to everyone's taste for sure, they're a bit of a niche... Hence they don't do so well. A pity because the quality is undeniable!
Phillip Mcritchie , using an expletive in your description is not appropriate nor i believed welcomed by viewers of this channel, hope you take this in good spirit , as to the review i found it detailed and interesting , best Oliver !

Thanks for that! I do think it's designed to be a tough and true explorers watch. Good to hear that it's lived up to the demands! :)
I like this watch. Very cool. I like how they kept the dial symmetry and the day date features.
Yeah it’s different and pretty cool :)
Great watch, still wear mine everyday while employed in LE.
What is “LE”?

Great choices mate, and always good to hear from a local. Cheers!

edit: EVER
Harvard Ford haha. Yes me too when I asked and read reviews online. Its one hell of a watch but the sz is too big.

@@PerthWAtch Thank you very much for your expertise!
Beautiful looking watch, but for that price there is a lot of other watches I would buy before that one.

I love Nall Watch and would love to have a Mad Cow!
Maybe they make a COVID one next :)
Solid tool watch. Tank.
It's sure is a very solid piece :)
Thanks for sharing that - what a great looking piece! It's got some Rolex Explorer DNA it seems but is still it's own thing. A very nice watch!
Ball watches certainly have a very own flavor that i like, like this beautiful one, but they are too big for my. :-(
Thanks for that Oscar - yes I think the size is not for everyone, especially with regards to the thickness of the case. Cheers, Ivan.
