Yea true, going out in general is expensive. I remember just last week, shouted my colleague breakfast at a coffee place, cost just north of $50 for 2 people. I got pancakes and a cold drink. Probably the last time I am shouting anyone anything. So for normal dinner $100 is pretty easy spent.

I just “resurrected” my dad’s old Tissot (automatic circa 1950) a quick wind and the watch came to life. Took it to a watch repairman to have it tested and his eyebrows went up, he said it is “spot on”. He placed a new band on it. I have been wearing and it is keeping time beautifully and every time I look at it it reminds me my dad.

Thanks to some decisions I've made in the past I can now afford 5-7K tier watches (I own 4 for now). But affordable will always be associated with the sub $300 category for me. That's what it was when I just started my watch journey with my beloved Orient Tristar (that I still own btw) and stayed like that ever since. I consider affordable based not on what I can afford but what the vast majority of people can and that is certainly far from 1k zone.

Two things for me. That Nomos has gotta have a better strap for that amount of money. And wow, that Zenith El Primero is dead sexy. When I was deciding between chronographs, I ultimately went with the Speedmaster over the El Primero because of servicing. If/when that El Primero needs a service, it's gonna cost a pretty penny. Always interesting to see what people consider as entry level or what they choose for their first purchase.
My first “big”’purchase was a £45 Ricoh Medallion which was and still is stunning with a chocolate dial and original bracelet. Meanwhile I’ve seen folks asking what £10k watch they should buy as a gift for their father in law.
It’s truly fascinating to hear opinions from multiple financial stand points.
Now I’ve a Breitling 808, a few £1k+ chronographs and divers and I am always excited to see where my collection ends up. But I find it much harder to appreciate many watches I once aspired to buy. So it’s very interesting to hear what folks that spend tens if not hundreds of thousands on watches think on pieces that cost as much as their loose change 😅

Maybe one of their watches from the GST-B400 series. Idk so many to choose from, that's more my style. All the watches I'm looking at are under $300, yet look like they should be much more. I don't mind the style watches in this video but 90% of them are not my taste, and 5x more expensive. Affordable is relative but i don’t think the average UA-cam viewer considers a watch over $2,000 as an “affordable” watch, most would consider that a luxury watch. They only had one watch under $550 and I didn’t like the one they showcased. So here are a few watches I like that
I consider affordable, good quality, that look great too. Two are automatic and one a unique mecha quartz hybrid. All are available brand new directly from the company and all are under $400 brand new. Orient Kanno $235, Dan Henry Automatic Diver $270, Brew Retrograph Technicolor $375.

Throw stowa in there as well. I think it's mostly due to them having an online presence only and very specifically geared towards, certainly Germany, but central Europe first and foremost.
Once these pieces end up in the states they're more expensive and they'll be harder to claim if you prefer the official route.
