I had the opportunity to do a similar tour almost 30 years ago. The factory has changed a lot. The values of traditional handmade watchmaking and most advanced machining has evolved. JLC is a gem in the industry.
As a JLC watch owner and fan, this video is just amazing to me. The explanations on the manufacturing procedures were not always super clear but the camera work was top notch.

Thank you Teddy so much for taking us on a tour of JLC! There is no other UA-camr who takes us into the manufacturers like Teddy does. I have had JLC on my collection list, and as a result of this video have put JLC on my to-purchase this year list!
There are quite a few behind-the-scenes videos of the JLC HQ by other UA-camrs. Adrian Barker comes to mind, but there are others. I agree with you, amazing brand. Just some unsolicited advice lol; I bought a Reverso during the height of covid without trying it on due to the circumstances, and it just didn’t fit. I sold it at a loss. Do yourself a favor if you’re considering a Reverso, and make sure it fits you. Square and rectangular watches are notorious for fit issues, as I have subsequently discovered. Good luck!
@@grammarboy1318 thank you for the advice! I was thinking about the ultra thin moon watch. I will definitely go to the AD and try it on before making my decision.

Fantastic video! I will never again complain about JLC being way above my budget after watching the pure artistry involved in creating their mechanical wonders. Thanks Teddy!
Probably my favorite video to date Teddy. Which is saying a lot you make some great content! The craftsmanship shown in this video is just incredible. Thank you for the content Teddy!
I’ve loved JLC since actually not too long ago. This video has shown what we can’t normally see, despite knowing that it’s a great brand, with good reputation of its work. My love of the JLC brand has been strengthened considerably after watching this!! Thanks a lot, Teddy, your production team, & JLC of course!!
JLC Truly is and will always be the "The Watchmakers, him Watchmaker" I mean they have just such a rich history of making some of the worlds most beautiful and well made movements ever, their vintage repeaters were some of the best made and many companies actually bought them to use in their own (pocket)watches, even Vacheron Constantin used their movements and even Patek, that alone should tell you all you need to know. I have a gorgeous Vintage Jaeger LeCoultre A-10 Chronoflite from an old Navy war plane and a newer version used by Boeing in some of their aircraft, just absolutely amazing clocks and the attention to detail even in something as mundane as a clock for a plane is just amazing.
As a watch enthusiast, you have no idea how much I love the detailed videos you and your crew make every week. These tour videos of the watchmaking process are the best! Thank you! It gives us the best view into the complicated and detailed process of watchmaking.
Absolutely fantastic brand. Great to see you visit my beautiful country 🇨🇭 from time to time. I hope you enjoyed your stay in Switzerland. Great video as always, thank you Teddy!
I'm more than impressed. I'm blown away by the craftsmanship, the attention for detail and the ingeniuity shown here. Makes it easier to understand why haute horology is so pricey. Thanks for the super interesting video, Teddy!
There is no other manufacturer on earth with all these skills in-house. JLC represents the best of the best. Thanks Teddy for this magnificent episode!
I recall asking the question “How can a Reverso possibly cost so much?”. I will never utter those words again. Outstanding video, very well produced. I would very much like to see a tour of the Longines factory.
@@stickshifter8 To say I was astonished would be an understatement. I’m a little embarrassed to say that I honestly had no idea what goes into the production of one of these works of art.
Amazing review of this Factory. I'm inside connected to the CEO through Linkedin. Someday after I retire I need to visit Switzerland and visit this watch Factory. I am a watchmaker but focus on restoring pocket watches and I do some watches. As I've done two Rolexes in the past couple years. I've also made watch Parts by hand. That have over 800 videos on UA-cam helping other amateur watchmakers. I think someday you have to interview someone like myself to talk about watchmaking and watch repair but it comes to it being a hobby. And all the investment and time that you need to take to learn it if you have not gone through formal training. Thanks for your time and making this video. It is very comprehensive and enjoyable to watch. Did I say watch!
I haven’t seen any watch channel do a feature like this to such a high quality professional level. It’s a production on par with professional documentary makers. Well done to you and your team. And also thank you to JLC for letting us see their wonderful manufacturing process. This really sends home the painstaking process it takes to make a beautiful watch.
I've always been super fascinated with watch making!! The designing and engineering that goes into the tiny gears, levers, arms, springs, and screws!!!!! Amazing!!! Just simply amazing!!!!
There are many endeavors that symbolize humanity's tremendous ability to merge craftsmanship, technological innovation and sheer artistry, and this video perfectly illustrates the synthesis of these human talents in the field of watching making. Thank you Teddy for not only featuring beautiful watches on your channel, and bringing awareness to this hobby to more people, but for also bringing us stunning and professionally produced videos that demonstrate the immense talent involved in this craft.
Incredible! Human ingenuity at its finest. Thank you for producing videos like this... they are truly fascinating to watch and I look forward to more. As a suggestion, I would love to see something similar to this from Grand Seiko.
What a privilege to have such access, I envy you. So magnificent to see these great skills still have a valued place. Only twice in 58 years have I had to honor to witness real craft masters at work, I suspect you respected the privilege. Congratulations to you and the team for putting together this fascinating film. On a side note when Notre Dame was damaged by fire a couple of years ago, although horrible, I immediately thought, what a great opportunity there will be to rediscover so many lost skills and give employment for young to learn from older masters that have not had a chance or projects with budgets to exercise their great skills for decades.
Oh! My! God! That was spectacular… simply amazing! Please bring us the Feature Length director's cut complete with ASMR! THIS WAS SOLID GOLD CONTENT!!! You’ve raised the bar considerably with this video. Please carry on in this vein! This was positively sublime! Holy crap but I want to see you do more like this again! And deep dives as well. Obviously I’d love to see you go to all the usual suspects! IWC. AP. VC. Patek Philippe. A Lange & Sohne. Blancpain. TAG Heuer. Glashütte Original. Omega. Zenith. Rolex (and Tudor… paying particular attention to the differences between the two brands manufacturing processes). Ulysse Nardin. Breguet. Panerai. Longines. Hamilton. Grand Seiko. Bremont. Zero West. Breitling. Bell & Ross. Each and every one of the brands you offer on your website (barring Casio) and as many of the micro brands that will let you through their doors. This! Was! Awesome!
Thank you so much for this. I have enormous respect for the work done in the the JLC factory, the history and their knowledge and skill. The video was really well done.
I remember seeing a Reverso advertisement in a magazine when I was probably 13-14 years old. I told myself that someday I'd own one. Such a beautiful manufacturer.
I’m not really a watch person but I do appreciate good science and application of science. The Atmos clock power source through gaseous expansion & contraction is absolutely fantastic. I just can’t find words to describe how amazing it is for someone to conceptualise and implement this. It may be a simple way in which matter behaves but to be able to capture that is something I can’t say enough to be impressed by it. Just had to write this comment.
Such high respect for the patience and craftsmanship of these amazing technicians. Thanks so much for this insightful experience. Much much respect for JLC and their commitment to the craft
I'd often wondered how those really small parts were made. Thanks for this excellent tour video Teddy - priceless, oh and that Atmos clock is a piece of wondrous art!
The sound still resonates in my heart . I hear it from time to time excuse the pun .I live and have lived near a church in the UK for over 30 years. I'm not Christian. I still to this day know what time it is without looking at my phon. learned the the bell rings e.g half hour chime 15 min chime and bell ring for the hour it is. To put that in a watch is .. beyond craftsmanship. Bravo.
Wow, impressive. Makes me better appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into making these timepieces. Well-executed videography as well. Great work, Teddy.
Thank you Teddy and a big thanks to Jaeger for letting you in and filming. It always amazes me to see the attention to detail and effort that is put in to these mechanical masterpieces.
You are the only one who gives this kind of look inside the wonderful world of watchmaking, and what better than to show the watchmakers watchmaker. I am completely blown away at what goes into producing a watch by hand with the assist of some very specialized machinery. The Reverso has always been my favorite watch even though I probably will never afford one except to appreciate from afar. Thanks Teddy for this view inside of this remarkable place.
OMG! This video was incredible! I learned more about watch making in 30 mins than I've ever done before. How about Cartier next? It's art and horology with a century of history.
I had an affinity for watches because my dad gave me a Casio that glowed in the dark. He then later gifted me a TAG he bought in the late 80s to commemorate a promotion he had received. Those two watches are very meaningful to me, but I never really got fully in to watches until I stumbled on Teddy's channel; I guess I didn't really understand why watches were more than simple timekeeping objects. I have been enjoying all of your content ever since I found your channel, learning more and more about the art that is watchmaking. I am completely consumed by this art,and love videos like this were mastership is displayed (and are not so focused on the cost or status of watches). These types of videos make me even more enthralled by watches. Thanks Teddy! PS: I also took your advice about not rushing into buying any particular piece, but rather spend time saving for a watch that I truly want. I am hoping to get a Reverso and a Skydweller before I turn 40 (33 right now, so definitely achievable). Again, thank you for all your dedication and passion for this niche passion!!
Excellent video Teddy. I really appreciate the fact that your content cannot be put into a single category. From reviews, tours, interviews, collections, collections, and of course Mr Wonderful you never disappoint.
You went above and beyond, Teddy! Greatly appreciate the effort. I have a few JLC's and the quality amazes me everytime I look at them. More people need to know about JLC.
Wow! Really extraordinary watchmaking craftsmanship in full force. I'm an Interior Designer by trade and I'm always fascinated by other people and their creative minds, especially how they approach their work whether it is highly delicate like here or just the opposite to create amazing pieces of Art! This is the work of incredibly dedicated, talented men and women Artisans on the highest levels. Bravo for sharing the inner workings of one of the oldest premiere horologists manufacturers in the World! Thank you and please continue producing high-quality informative videos as such!
Never cease to be amazed at the microscopic components of a watch. Seeing the rubies applied to the escapement was mind-boggling. The level of dexterity, focus, and skill is unparalleled. Thanks for the tour! You asked where we’d like to see you go next? I vote for Jaeger-LeCoultre sister company IWC. Book a trip to Schaffhausen. While you’re near Germany, go to Glashütte next.
Having been there myself (bench test but didn't get the job 😕) I can assure you this place just oozes the kinda class that can be felt a mile away. Much like VC old facilities in Geneva. AP & PP has different feels to it. Absolute class of course but definitely more the stiff upper lip nobility version of it.
Every time Teddy does a segment on JLC I appreciate my Reverso more and more. Tip my hat for the high value production on this and keep them coming - Kudos to you Teddy and the team! Greetings from Zurich
Damn Teddy, this exactly the watch content I want to see! I love JLC, so great to see this BTS action! My grandparents had an Atmos on their mantle for my entire childhood, I got in trouble so many times for messing with it. I was absolutely mesmerized by that clock, and attribute my love of watches to this day to the JLC Atmos. Really cool to see those in action. I have the Atmos to this day, even tho mine has kind of a 70/80's design.. I still love it!
Thanks JLC for being so open to show what you're doing and thanks Teddy and team to make such a high quality and informative video. What a great tour. Would've loved to be a part of it 😉
What a wonderful insight into the process of of building a Jaeger-Lecoultre watch. The craftsmanship involved is outstanding. I've thought about purchasing a Reverso for many years and now more than ever, I think I'll press the button. Thanks Teddy, for a first class video.
This was absolutely mind blowing how much work goes into this. Thank you so much for this Teddy. As a self proclaimed Tudor fan boy, I’d love to see this done with Tudor just for my selfish interest…even though I don’t think the level of hand craftsmanship is anywhere near this.
I always wanted to visit Glycine's manufacture, this is one hella interesting video Teddy, thank you very much for allowing us to see all this craftsmanship and art.
You can see that this brand doesnt have nothing to hide, showed manufacture process, most important part of watch making. I wish to see same one on Longiness and Tissot brands ( we seen only huge storage room and quality check) thanks to Jaeger- LECoultres for detailed explanation
A fascinating look behind the curtain of one of the world's greatest watchmakers. Love this type of content, now I just need a 2-hour long version, 27 minutes was over all too fast. Captivating video well done.
Even a prestige veteran like JLC opens their factory for a visit while Rolex is still a secret to the public, it's funny to think that Rolex with only basic movement has sth to hide other than their manufacturing cost is a tiny micro fraction of the msrp ;)
My favorite Swiss brand. For highschool graduates like me, my grand seiko to me is the modern day Jaeger-LeCoultre in terms of importance and movement mastery but with more "modern" dial design and crazy attention to detail from the polishing to the movement decoration. I believe grand seiko is one of the only brands that can get my generation into watches properly without the mini phones on the wrist garbage.
GS needs to thin out their movements and improve their clasps before they can be considered in the same class. The Zaratsu method also makes their cases scratch magnets.
I'm a millennial and grand seiko opened a new world for me. Made me love watches. 100% my favorite watch brand. The spring drive sweep is second to none. The accuracy is better. The polishing, the accuracy, the dial.. the best.
@@Doggo-frencton you know how many brands don't have adjustable on the fly clasps? I gave up on that dream, yes Rolex has it but Rolex completely taints the watch world being used purely as a flex at my age and the ADs are ran like shit. Their movements are solid but not as specialized as a 36000 bpm 80 hour movement or a spring drive which yes I know not everyone likes. The movement in my SLGA009 is thin enough, it's not a pure dress watch, their evolution 9 collection reminds me most of JLCs Polaris collection and those are the types of watches for me that make the most sense as they are durable, and have solid water resistance, solid movement, and unique dials, except grand seiko is innovating way more than them in recent times and really making things that no Swiss manufacturer is making. I could compare their movement finishing to H Moser not JLC for 10k which is crazy for me to even think about. The polishing attracting scratches for me, I could care less, it shows you actually wear the thing and the second I got a few scratches on it I wasn't afraid at all to make it a daily wearer and scratch it up. Mine only really has a few bigger scratches on the bracelet. I hate when people worry about scratching their watch which causes them not to wear it as much, I don't give a shit about the value of it, I just want to enjoy it. I didn't get it because it I thought it was flashy and it's expensive, I got it because it's the best white dial dress it up and down watch with in my case +/- 2 seconds a month for 8.5k (what I personally paid for mine)! It's the most comfortable watch I've ever worn, if I really wanted an adjustable clasp I'd put it on a leather strap. And I don't care if it gets scratched because the real artwork is on the face and is not the case. That polishing under that crystal is incredibly reflective and glimmers beautifully with every outfit I've ever worn with it. The issue I have with it is it makes me want to also get the SLGA021 which is identical in every way except for that beautiful dusk lake dial. I shouldn't be spending that kind of money on watches if I was normal but it's the only artwork I buy and it's the only accessory I wear so to me it brings immense and incredible value. Heck I even met a Swiss guy a few days ago and loved comparing our favorite brands and the pieces we own and we compared JLC to GS for over and hour, not to mention he's been studying for half a decade already to be a watchmaker.
Makes you appreciate a brand like this more due to all of the craftsmanship. Truly a lost art in terms of I don’t think every watch company puts that level of care and attention into their product.
Now this is top-tier watch reporting. It was amazing seeing the parts warehouses and organizing in previous videos, but for as many times as I have seen anglage and seen it mentioned and adored by others, never before have I had the chance to see it done. This is what watchmaking is about, not just hype and market fluctuations, the craftsmanship shown here is truly something to behold, and would I love to see something similar from other brands such as Zenith, A Lange & Söhne, or Vacheron Constantin. The only way these types of videos could possibly be better would be if there was some type of giveaway organized with the manufacturer at the end of the video, but that might cheapen the high-class feeling of the video haha.
Teddy you are not only the best watch channel on youtube but among the best channels on youtube, the production quality here is easily on par with TV but what sets your channel apart is that the content is not created "by the committee" but by an obviously inspired person actually caring about the subject matter, well done.

This is an absolutely epic piece of work and you have my sincere appreciation for putting it together.
For me JLC is the greatest of the manufactures. The fact it made so many calibres used by the greats of the watchmaking world really tells us why they are called the watch makers watches. The Atmos alone is one of mankind’s ancient goals to fin s a perpetual motion machine. And the Reverso is as iconic as the Santos or the Oyster and the duoplan still the smallest calibre ever produced. More patents than any and not just for their calibres but the first watch making piece of kit that could accurately measure micro measurements still unsurpassed and sought after.

@@grammarboy1318 thank you for the advice! I was thinking about the ultra thin moon watch. I will definitely go to the AD and try it on before making my decision.
@@dannysimenauer5745 Great choice, Danny! Good luck!
If you are in to these videos there is a series of absolutely awesome videos posted by WatchesTV ua-cam.com/video/6I5cwNgQwhc/v-deo.html . If you like watches and Swiss watchmaking this will be very interesting to say the least! Enjoy.
take a look at The Urban Gentry tour ! It was 5 years ago...
Exactly the weather I remember the Valle de Joux for. Own a JLC Reverso myself and my next watch will be a JCL again!
Absolutely fantastic brand. Great to see you visit my beautiful country 🇨🇭 from time to time. I hope you enjoyed your stay in Switzerland. Great video as always, thank you Teddy!
Always a treat to visit Switzerland. I hope to make it back a couple more times this year. Thanks for the support!
@@TeddyBaldassarrethank you, it's a pleasure to follow you
Teddy and the whole team should be so proud of this; truly one of a kind.

Agree. Reverso was a nice watch. After seeing its creation, big time respect!!
@@stickshifter8 To say I was astonished would be an understatement. I’m a little embarrassed to say that I honestly had no idea what goes into the production of one of these works of art.
Proud owner of reverso…..My very first luxurious watch🥰🥰🥰 Thank you for this beautiful content!👏👏👏
That's a concise and eloquent statement about watchmaking. That's very much my view.
@@AndyCutright Thank you for the kind words.
Loved this video. The level of craftsmanship is magnificent.
Incredible! Human ingenuity at its finest. Thank you for producing videos like this... they are truly fascinating to watch and I look forward to more. As a suggestion, I would love to see something similar to this from Grand Seiko.
Masters. They did practice. They reached to the perfection. Respect and salute to their meditation.
Great presentation by Matthieu ! These pieces are really phenomenal and great value once you understand all the craftmanship and the amount of work !
Love this episode. You really provided in depth understanding of JLC. I appreciate the workmanship of the brand.
Bravo.
This was an absolute treat, Teddy. Anytime you can take us along for a tour, please do so.
holy grail 1:48 repeater
Incredible. Hard to fathom how jlc aren't more highly regarded. History, excellence and passion personified.
Teddy showing respect by wearing a reverso to the JLC . Love the Channel , Appreciate your dedication to these fantastic videos.
Great video, great production, thanks Teddy! Also respect for JLC for being gracious hosts!
I have always liked your videos but this one is outstanding and deserves a thumb up! Well done. Pls do more of this type of manufacturer visits .
Other than the microchip, I think watches are one of the most fascinating things man has ever made. Thank you for sharing.
Been watching you since the beginning, going from the MVMT video to this is amazing. Fantastic work to you and your team Teddy. Cheers!
If you didn't want a JLC before, you definitely do after watching this. Sensational 🙌🏻
Every time Teddy does a segment on JLC I appreciate my Reverso more and more. Tip my hat for the high value production on this and keep them coming - Kudos to you Teddy and the team! Greetings from Zurich
My favorite brand. So understated.
Astonishing watch making by JLC!
Thanks JLC for being so open to show what you're doing and thanks Teddy and team to make such a high quality and informative video.
What a great tour. Would've loved to be a part of it 😉
Videos like this are just a beautiful experience 💎
Top notch content as always - JLC is a top flight brand and absolutely at the top of their game
This is INCREDIBLE!
Even a prestige veteran like JLC opens their factory for a visit while Rolex is still a secret to the public, it's funny to think that Rolex with only basic movement has sth to hide other than their manufacturing cost is a tiny micro fraction of the msrp ;)
the Best VDO of Manufacturing Tour, I really mean it, this's the BEST !!!
@@geno816 the unique design of a grand seiko over literally anything else that exists is beautiful.
I absolutely love that you, Teddy, stand at a certain distance and let the people talk...i.o. most people nowadays that prefer to just hear themselves
Amazing .... This is next level Horology. I own a GO and now want to add a JLC.
Makes you appreciate a brand like this more due to all of the craftsmanship. Truly a lost art in terms of I don’t think every watch company puts that level of care and attention into their product.
Totally agree ✨️
Nice video. I am more impressed by JLC than the arrogant overpriced Patek.
Teddy you are not only the best watch channel on youtube but among the best channels on youtube, the production quality here is easily on par with TV but what sets your channel apart is that the content is not created "by the committee" but by an obviously inspired person actually caring about the subject matter, well done.
I don’t know who But someone actually needs to hear this, You have to to stop saving all your money and venture into investing some if you really want financial stability

OMG! This is mind blowing stuff! JLC was a brand that had my admiration but this vid took it to another level! Excellent content, Teddy. Go next to Glashutte. Show me where my beloved GO was born! Cheers!!
Truly your watchmakers watch maker
This is the reason why I should have at least one of JLC watches in my collection in the future, I wish that future will come soon though lol.
Extra compliments to your production crew for visually telling the story so well!
Really insightful production that makes me love my JLC just a little bit more! I can only imagine the amount of effort involved in not only setting up this tour, but also filming and editing to get this amazing end product.
I'm blown away by this video episode. The intricacies of watch making is nothing short of amazing. Thanks Teddy! you are the man.
Teddy, your work is the best! Appreciate your genuine efforts and contribution to horological world. Keep it up! Would love to see similar tours of other great manufacturers.
What an incredible episode. The craftsmanship on display is breathtaking.
Absolutely incredible. Thanks for putting these special behind the scenes videos together.
Excellent. I'd love to see more of that restoration workshop if you have the footage. Also, visit Sinn!
I love these videos and greatly appreciate all the manufacturers opening their doors for the world to see! The JLC Polaris Blue enamel dial has been on my mind ever since I saw one in person almost a year ago.
Excellent video, Teddy. So special to get a behind the scenes look at JLC manufacturing, craftsmanship, and artistry. And focusing on the Reverso was spot on! Thank you!
WOW, well done Teddy! Amazing how you got so far ......to get PRIVATE tours from legends like this!!! Well done kind sir. You have my dream job for sure!!! We are living thru you sir.
This is my all time favorite manufacture! I watch this video from time to time as this is the best video out there for JLC. We'll done Teddy!
