Tough choice 🤔 Tissot Gentleman or Seiko Alpinist 🤨 classical clean look versus strange cool dial & hands 😯 I'm thinking Alpinist just because it will get noticed and it did get 2nd place in a past Teddy Competition 😎
I purchased the Tissot Gentleman Open Heart several months ago, and it has been incredibly accurate. Moreover, I have received so many compliments on the watch. Very happy with my Tissot.
I got one just a couple of days back and I cannot stop looking at it. Sometimes, I look at the watch to check the time but after I look away, I am like, "wait, what was the time actually??"
i just got one 2 days ago. went in boutique to get a prx all gold got out with gentlemen open heart white dial rose gold its simple and nice. my first auto/swiss watch
I picked up the SPB121J1 as my first mechanical watch earlier this year, and it's been a pleasant surprise. What I love most about it is its versatility-it looks just as sharp with a suit in business meetings as it does with a t-shirt and shorts when catching up with friends. It fits every occasion perfectly. I'm absolutely loving it!
I can't believe you hadn't done this video before! Fantastic picks across the board. I thought I had a sort of off-beat collect, but you validated two of my favorites I don't hear enough about.
The Alpinist was the first watch I bought in years, and the reason I did so was for its uniqueness, steel case, gold numerals, compass bezel, two crowns. It has so much going on all at once yet it just works? I love it
I’ve got one in black. You will not be disappointed, I never take the damn thing off anymore, it’s surprisingly accurate too. Given a 16610 in the drawer, the only watch I want to wear is another Gentleman in another colour.
@@abdulrahmanassous2873 Ice style is not to my taste, but definitely the showy one. Blue is lovely, but subtle. Black is timeless. Green is funky, and very smart. If I were to have another, I’d flip a coin on green or blue.
Nice to hear the brand Citizen more often. In my opinion Citizen is so underrated. The movements are great, especially because of their higher frequency and with the Series 8 they created one of a kind watches on the market.
Citizen has this Forza, which is small seconds hand, super titanium, integrated bracelet design, textured dial ,and 40mm case that wears less than that. It is quite underrated watch.
I have that watch and it wears smaller than the 40.5 suggests. Weirdly, though, Citizen renamed it in the US to the Zenshin (the international name) after about a month.
I got my first mechanical watch as an engagement gift and it’s been my daily wear since. The Seiko SRPK91 is great and checked all the boxes I needed. Having the day and date wheel is so useful!
So excited you mentioned the tissot seastar! I recently purchased the exact one you showed on a trip and i would consider it my first big watch purchase!
I purchased my Seiko SSK GMT in the original blue/red colorway from Teddy last year as my first big brand luxury watch, and I absolutely love it! It gets compliments regularly and scratches the itch I had for a GMT. It almost works as an "everyday" piece too - goes with many different colors and types of outfits
For an understated dress watch, the Tissot 1938 definitely belongs on this list AND it's COSC certified for well under 1000 USD! This is the most undervalued watch in Tissot's lineup.
Teddy you say the SPB155 is only Baby Alpinist still available, but they also have the very similar SPB211 with the chocolate brown dial. It’s still available and on Seiko’s site. I have that, put it on a tan leather strap and it’s a perfect beater/weekend watch. Decided on it over the Murph.
Even in the "field", you will very ikely never find yourself making use of any water resistance above 50m. With a case thickness of 9.5mm, the Hamilton Khaki Field Mech would be perfect if it had an Automatic movement, but that would likely also put it above 10mm.
I would add the Citizen model NJ2180-89L to the line, for around USD500 you get a titanium case mechanical watch, and yes the bracelet is titanium too, I'd pick the blue dail version if not there's too many blue dail watches in my little watch box.
You may want to try this watch on if you are referring to the original Tsuyosa. I passed because the crown is so small that it is hard to wind. Of course you may find it suitable, but I did want to make you aware of this one feature. BTW, the colors of the Tsuyosa dials are beautiful!
@@dannysimenauer5745 I'm not sure if the one I bought is the one you're referring to, but the crown on my watch is about average size and quite easy to wind, and theres little to no presence on the wrist becuase it's so light, loving it!
Nice video! I own three of the watches mentioned: the Tissot Gentleman, Seiko Alpinist SPB121, and Hamilton Khaki Mechanical. Teddy had great influence, and I really like all three!
I found your channel from Courtney. Lol. I love watches, but unfortunately havent worn watches in a while and looking to get back into the game. I really like the Seiko Alpinist watch. I've been really into green things lately and this watch is 🤌 Great video!
Would be amazing to start off your collection with this watch. A part of me wishes I bought the baby alpinist over some of the other purchases I made to start out
Definitely the most interesting & informative channel in UA-cam,and I am your fan! I’ve been watching AMZWATCH and buying them recently to complement my watch collection. Good video
I fell in love with that Seiko Presage in green with leather straps. I was looking for a new piece to add to my collection and was undecided between the Wilton GMT and the CURV, but thanks to this video I ended up getting the Seiko. Can’t wait to wear it
Picked up cheap Seiko 5 snzg13j1 7+ years ago (about usd $180 back then) to wear as an everyday watch. It’s been bullet proof and spends 90% of the time on my wrist I like it so much. I’m in construction so I’m not too precious about it. Few chips and some scratches. It has the field watch face that I prefer over the Hamilton watches that I find a little flat. This watch has a little more 3d pop for my liking and a sturdy stainless steel bracelet. I’ve seen it on sale for under that $180 recently I was tempted to buy another (still mulling over it). I think it has been discontinued/superceded hence the sale price, but worth a mention. Thanks for your video.
Been watching your videos for a while now and was inspired to start a collection. Started with the MAMACOO, its specs for price and clean looks, now am looking for a dress watch to add.
8:26 i have the seiko presage SRPB41J1 and replaced the hardlex with a sapphire crystal. The watch still looks absolutely gorgeous, and is definitely a watch i’ll keep forever. In my opinion, one of the greatest looking dials for the money.
Why you are obviously a sheep listening to other sheep mineral crystal is harder to break just picks up a few scratches.your cocktail time must be going to daddy parties to get that damaged 😊
@@scottslater-nb5ch i use my watch for all occasions. Ended up scratching the crystal pretty badly after work. I’m not a sheep. Only replaced it because i love the watch, and dont want it to scratch again :)
For GMT watch, the latest Timex Expedition North titanium GMT deserves a mention. A great design that serves as alternative of first Gen Rolex GMT explorer II or Tudor Black Bay. For dive watch, Mido Ocean Star deserves a mention. The brand is roughly neck-to-neck with Certina but has a much higher regional concentration in South America. The Ocean Star line is also great value for money, and the larger dial size offers an option for wearers with larger wrists. And allow me to complain: 19:34 I just cannot comprehend why Teddy stubbornly refuses to pronounce "Tsuyosa" properly after two years of first Tsuyosa release😂
My favorite for the money is the STOWA PRODIVER! I own one and will be ordering another, they have everything I need, with nothing I don’t. It is a high quality watch, and very unique…just love the Stowa products!
Great video, very accurate analysis. In my 4.5 years in the game as a watch collector and enthusiast, I collected a lot from MAMACOO I was thinking I was able to get a blue SD but I'm not vip enough, but I'm not giving up. Hehe. Great video.
Another awesome video @teddy! One question if I may: you mentioned the citizen Tsuyosa small seconds, but do you have any thoughts on the more recent citizen Zenshin small seconds? Thanks for the great content as always
Good list! I was getting ready to get all defensive when it came to GMTs and the first one mentioned is Seiko lol. I got the Wilton GMT and absolutely love it and think for under $700 it’s an absolutely great watch. I’ve also picked up the Citizen Fugu (green) last year which I’ve been extremely impressed with (if I recall under $500 at the citizen store). Finally, as popular as the Murph is, I have the Khaki Field King Auto and though it has the typical 24 hour markings, the full day showing at the 12 is why I really like it. Cheaper than the Murph, and easily a daily watch that can be worn as a dress watch. One dress watch that I don’t think gets enough attention is the Bulova Surveyor with the pistachio dial - yes, you have to like green for this one - but when I tried it on I was surprised how nice this looks. With sapphire crystal and under $400 I think this is a fantastic deal.
How about the Mido Multifort M or Patrimony, but a tad over that $1k mark is the Ocean Star line or back to the Multifort TV. The diversity of Mido’s offerings are pretty impressive!
@CharlesThompson-ou7wp Great suggestion. I wasn't aware of the line until I was looking for an Aquanaut style alternative. I'm hunting down the Multifort TV Big Date as we speak. I saw it and tried on a version at an AD and am in love.
Teddy what do you think about MAEN Hudson 38 MK4, it's looking good as a smaller Dive watch I wanna get one but you never mentioned watches from Maen 😁
Teddy what about Venezianico brand? They use Sellita and Seiko calibers, some of their dials are really top. Most of the watches are under 1 thousand. Any comment on this brand?

Hi Teddy: I own the Tissot Gentleman in green and it's a great watch. It looks great and gets many compliments. Do you think that Tissot will do something different with the Gentleman line? I'm hoping for a traveler's GMT or a moonphase or even a worldtimer. I also wouldn't mind a pointer date.
Good overview video. If you are looking for an idea for a video, I think an interesting one would be concerning watch service. We all know the high end manufacturers recommend such and such intervals for automatics, but what about the more budget minded watches? What about quart movements? Spring drives? I think the service component is overlooked when making a purchase decision. I also think manufacturers push it as a revenue stream and not really a requirement. I have a 2004 Date Just that I serviced in 2008 as recommended by the AD. I’ve never had any problems with it and haven’t had it serviced since. Keeps accurate time. Will it keep running for years? When it is serviced will it be a disaster and have many parts replaced? My AD quoted me $995 plus any worn or replaced parts and a 14 week turnaround. Using that math I should have spent $3K over the span of ownership to keep it “serviced”. I paid $4,800 for the watch originally. Anyway, might be a good topic for a video. I know you did one earlier, but I think it was just on high end automatics?
I haven't paid enough attention to Orient in a long time. That Bambino with small seconds is a GREAT looking watch. That Murph (my namesake😁) is pretty damn cool also ..!!! Truth be told, I liked every watch presented in each category. 👍
I have the alpanist that you listed at the end, it's my most affordable watch and yet it's one of the watches that I wear the most. I will say though, when I got it the rotor was loose so I had to send it back to Japan to get them to tighten it, and I also really didn't like the included bands that came with it. I ended up buying a Seiko bracelet and ever since, it's made the watch so much more wearable. It's nice that you can just change out the straps pretty easily though I wish it had drilled lugs, instead I just have a quick release spring bar on it and I routinely switch out the bracelet for a NATO strap.
In the everyday category, I prefer the Gentlemen over the PRX. I own a Bulova Hack, and I like it a lot. It's not pretentious, and it wears well on the wrist.
I love the Presage Zen Garden. Not sure what "style" it's considered, I put it leaning towards formal but the open heart adds a little casual. It makes me happy, and a good convo starter for some topics I'm passionate about (Zen Buddhism, Japanese culture in general...) And it's well inside my budget (unlike a Grand Seiko).
THE. SEIKO GMT WATCH IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE WATCH BUT I THINK YOU FORGET ABOUT CASIO BUT ALL THE WATCHES ARE FANTASTIC NOT ONLY ROLEX AND OMEGA I BELIEVE IF WE ARE WATCH LOVERS WE SHOULD LOVE ALL DIFFERENT KIND OF WATCH THANKS FOR THE VIDEO ONE LOVE TEDDY

That and the Hamilton Khaki are probably his two favorite

Right? The 40mm is a bit too big. Big reason I have a PRX is because they have the smaller size offering

Hope that one day your online shop will be available in UAE for shipping 🥺
I love the Presage Zen Garden. Not sure what "style" it's considered, I put it leaning towards formal but the open heart adds a little casual. It makes me happy, and a good convo starter for some topics I'm passionate about (Zen Buddhism, Japanese culture in general...)
And it's well inside my budget (unlike a Grand Seiko).
More Patek love for Teddy🔥
I hope Teddy's frequent-than-usual inclusions of Certina in his videos can help spark its recognition up to the level of Scandinavian countries (where it's most popular).
