There isn't a whole lot of difference, Robert's voice is a bit hoarse and Jason is on the drums, after almost 40 years this still sounds like it did when I first heard it in the early seventies.
Yes, people need to react to the best videos not second rate ones like this. This live video is really for fans and is not the best vid to convince people of the greatness of Led Zeppelin.
I actually am more impressed by this. And I appreciate that they are all better people now than they were back then. Age and wisdom are things I value and they so pulled off this show. Having John Bonham’s son on drums is also just perfect for me.
While great, this performance is 38 years after the songs release. The guys are all in their late 50's here. This is celebration day reunion tour and their drummer is long since passed (his grown son Jason is on drums here). Please revisit this and do the official music video (it's a compilation of live footage to the official audio track). While I wasn't quite yet born when Whole Lotta Love was released... this song and Led Zeppelin are a huge part of the soundtrack to my life. It would be such a joy to see your reaction to this song in its original state and see for yourself... the greatness and magic between the 4 guys of Zep performing together in their youth. There's nothing like it. It's magical in my humble opinion.😊 Great reaction though and I LOVE your channel!!🥰 Have a beautiful and blessed day everyone. Peace and light...💞
What everyone else said... you've got to listen to older versions with John Bonham too. You do get to see how the talent has held up over the years though. Zeppelin is one of the greatest bands ever with easily more than 30 songs that are worth reacting to. Please keep them in your rotation.
Another mighty British band. How such a small island produced so many great bands (The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Cream...). Remarkable
Joy Division, Roxy Music; The Clash; The Cure; Emmerson, Lake & Palmer; Fleetwood Mac; Genesis; Strangles, The Police; Supertramp; Oasis; Yes; The Smiths; Simply Red...
This was a band reunion in 2007. Led Zeppelin broke up when their drummer died in 1980 I believe. (BTW the drummer in this video is the original drummers son) They really didn’t play together again until Live Aid in the 90’s maybe -not sure - then this reunion. Someone will correct me in the comments if I’m wrong. Incredible incredible band. Robert Plant is an amazing vocalist. The whole band are extremely talented musicians.
This is when they were 50-60 years old. Check the original version, live or studio versions.. please.. Your reactions are generous great, bound to grow girl. Keep it going. Great selections so far.
it doesn't have the insane energy level it had when they were in their 20s, but it's still one hell of a show. it kinda scares me how good they must have been in their hayday if they're still this good atr this age.
IMHO you should hear the older version for multiple reasons. There wasn't the technology back in the early 70s so what you'd hear is more raw and real. Second, John Bonham their original drummer is unmatched.
You miss so much of the magic of Led Zeppelin's songs by not listening to the studio recordings. Their studio recordings are some of the greatest achievements in audio recording history. I suggested the same in your reaction to the live version of stairway to heaven. I've seen enough of your reactions to know that you have an astute perception to what makes music great. You truly are one of my favorite reactors. I really think you should revisit Stairway, but this time, do the reaction to the studio recording. I think you will be astounded at what you hear and see exactly what I'm trying to tell you. Peace
Led!!!!!!!!! They we're my childhood lullabies....along with Aerosmith and Uriah Heep, Sabbath.... And sooo many more! Music from the 70s is by far the best decade
"Shake for me girl, I wanna be your back door man!" Best line in the song. It really is an ode to the blues singers, like Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf and such. Robert Plant is an awesome vocalist.
Now days people assume this is a reference to anal sex, what it is really about is a man having sex with a married woman going undetected by entering and leaving through the home back door.
If you look back at the inspiration for this song, it comes from Willie Dixon lyrics for 'You Need Love' and 'Back Door Man'. Willie was referring to the older definition of 'back door man' which refers to a man having an affair with a married woman, using the back door as an exit before the husband comes home. Like a lot of words/expressions 'back door man' has evolved over time to have multiple meanings, especially today.
Only Robert Plant knows for sure what his intent was with the lyrics and he would probably give you an answer similar to this one regarding Stairway to Heaven: "Depending on what day it is, I still interpret the song differently. And despite the fact that it was I who wrote the text."
Why not the studio version first!? It’s great to hear them live, but she can’t get the grasp of Led Zeppelin without hearing the first version of this. Who in the world suggests these videos to her?
I would not say this is the best live version of this song. But there are very good live versions of their songs, I prefer over the studio recording. Yes, there is something lost in terms of production. But there is often so much more in the live version in terms of feeling and roughness. Zeppelin was a massive live band, great in improvising or expanding their songs and that is not in the recordings. You miss a lot if you only listen to the records. And many reaction channels don't react to a song twice.
I almost spit my drink through my nose when you said they give every inch of themselves to their music. In the studio version from their second album Robert Plant sings “I’m gonna give you my love, I’m gonna give you every inch of my love!”
Hi Britt, I really enjoy watching your reactions to music. You're fantastic. Led Zeppelin was my favorite band when I was a teenager. My Big Five: Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and Queen. Greetings from Poland
Now you need to do "Kashmir" from same concert!!Considered one of the best rock songs if not the best ever. Then do a song called "Echoes" part 1 live from Pompei in the very younger years
OMG BRITTTTTT... As a teenager we would play the non live version super loud and the things you can hear are so haunting but also an AMAZINGLY an OMG journey!!! I triple dog dare you to try it!!! I love when he says shake for me girl I want to be your backdoor man!!! (SIGH)
When I was younger, Zeppelin was the band I listened to. Check out Jeff Beck and Robin Trower ( original band) ,Alvin Lee of Ten Years After and Jethro Tull.. 😂 well everyone in this area has gotten older
Like others have said, you really need to hear the studio version. I was lucky enough to have seen them live in Glasgow in the early 70's - every seat in the house was £1. Changed days! Loads to recommend but Dazed and confused, Kashmir and of course, Stairway to heaven - studio version will get you hooked.
Your comment about “the song tells them when it’s done” is fairly accurate. There are 45 minute versions of some of their songs, and then 8 minute versions of the same song from a different concert.
I was 11 years old when this was released. I'm 64 now. We grew up with these guys and so many great songs in the 1960s and 1970s. We had a great song a day all through the '70s. And now I see all the reactors and they are blown away by it. Songs with actual melodies and literary lyrics. Songs meant something. A new album was an experience. People would gather at a friend's house and listen to the entire album 10 times. These old guys? Yes, they still own it. Nobody comes close.
Jimmy Page is using a Theremin during the instrumental section to obtain the wah wah sound and the drummer is Jason Bonham, the son of the original drummer John Bonham. ✌️
As a few others have said. Sure their live versions are really great, but you need to listen to the studio versions of their songs to get the full effect of the Greatness!
I wish you’d watched the70’s version. This is a performance in their old age, and no offence, but nothing like the early years. Pretty p,ease do a follow up reaction to them in the 70’s doing While Lotta Love. Pretty please.
A lot of times they will kind of "pause" a song and have a jam session and then break back into the song. You definitely need to check out their performance of Dazed and Confused Live at the Royal Albert Hall in 1970. Playing the guitar with the violin bow is amazing
If you like feeling as if they just started to jam and made a song you will love Deep Purple. I've always said a DP concert is just a jam session where they break into a song once in a while. A great example is the Deep Purple "Made in Japan" live album, especially their song "Strange Kind Of Woman" . You should check it out. They don't make musicians like this anymore. Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Who and others from that era are masters of musicianship and improvisation. So Cool. Glad you liked this Zeppelin tune.
Hey Britt, I've seen a few of other people's "react" videos but you are the best, the coolest, After watching you I could NEVER go back to any other :react" person. Love you !!!
My favorite band first time seeing them 1970 Fillmore East New York it was 2007 I believe at the O2 Arena there are over twenty million requests for this show for tickets that's right 20 million requests over 20 million for this one night
For that instrumental interlude, the guitarist, Jimmy Page, has an antenna that as he moves his hand changes the pitch of the guitar note. The drummer in this video is Jason Bonham, the son of the original drummer, John Bonham, who passed in the 80's.
20 million people tried to buy tickets for this single reunion concert decades after they split up! They still hold the world record for 'Most-sought after single concert'.
They are the goats...this a reunion show. It’s over 20 since they disbanded because of there Drummer passing! His son Jason Bonham is manning the drums! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😂
Some Rock-n-Roll gods bless this generation with a showing of how you perform a concert...no autotune, no post-production fixes, just the raw output balanced for placement and position, given to the masses as it is meant to be, REAL. The imperfections are meant to be a part of the show, it differentiates one show from another, like time differentiates one moment from another, no moment is exactly like the other. It is the greatness of the original, topped with the understanding it is REAL, that makes a song everlasting and omnipotent. No imposters here, attempting to cheat to retain the illusion that they are greater than they are, distorting reality with the power of a fad in all its abuse of ignorance. No! This is truly the source, as real as it gets, specifically demanding it to be however it is to be, letting their confidence in reality hold their crediting for the gods they are or fate cast them down to has-beens, as it should be. Legends. You should react to Kashmir from the same concert to see the epic embodiment of a great performance live and raw.
Not sure you read most of these comments, but 1st I'll say like all the others. Watch the studio versions or the older classics. Most times they are the best. Anyway, It's nice to see younger people seeing and listening to what us older folk lived with and had probably live in one of the most freest and fun times and at least the past 100 years. The 20's or 30's may have been better. 50's are probably right up there. Reason being, we weren't inhibited by all the laws and rules of today. And our parents had no idea what was going on. Our kids think that got over on us, but we just let them. 😁 If you made it through those fun times and lived in until your 70's many of us who I didn't think would live past 40 still looked vibrant and had there youthful mentality. Especially those involved in music. I saw Led Zep 4 times and they just jam out their songs. Rarely playing them like the album, especially the guitarist Jimmy Page and the singer Robert Plant. They loved to wander off and jam out, playing off of one another. Jimmy Page more so, had his demons with drugs and alcohol and sometime and would not be able to play well. He did eventually get right later. Those days were a trip, literally. Way too much drugs and most people were doing them all the time. Musician especially, had whatever they wanted when they wanted. But it was a fun ride while it lasted. Music was so spontaneous and creative back then, not like today I hate to say.
Heart (with Jason Bonham, the son of John Bonham - Led Zeppelin's late drummer) did an awesome tribute to Led Zeppelin. It is a must watch if you haven't already. Heart plays 'Stairway to Heaven'.
One thing nobody has said about this concert. Bahn son is playing the drums. Zeppelin has not played a bahn song when he passed away. They had so much respect for bahn that they would not play his songs for the respect. Now bahn son is playing the drums that's why you are hearing all these old songs that Bahn played with the group.. so this is a very special concert tour when they did these songs. So yes it was very spiritual and hart felt.
"Is he mixing on the stage?" - Jimmy Page was playing a Theremin, an electronic instrument with antennas, you move your arms near or further away horizontally, and vertically to control pitch. Google for even more info.
You are watching the goats every one of them are goats. The greatest of all time live Rock/ Blues live bands to ever grace the stage. No one stands above them in that field.
Do yourself a favor and check out “Kashmir” from the same concert (Celebration Day). Even in their late 50’s (at the time of the concert in 2007), and with the son of their late (and very great drummer, John Bonham) on the drums….that ma’am, is a “vibe”. You will not regret the 8 minutes spent on that video…..
Yes, review this song again with the VINYL RECORD SONG! It's much more pristine & has all the HIGHS & LOWS on it that you can't hear on computer data compression versions. And you get to FEEL the full force of JOHN BONHAM's DRUMMING! The man is an OCTOPUS WITH JUST TWO DRUM STICKS!!!
Jason Bonham is on drums he is the son of the original drummer John Henry Bonham those are soda like a yellowish orange see-through transparent drum set that's his father's drum cities playing
I agree with most other comments , this version is edulcorated , you need to listen to the original official one , which is rather "wild " ( using an understatement )
You asked what Jimmy was "mixing". The instrument he is playing is best shown through the magic of (Tangential Segue) the English Musician and Comedian Bill Bailey in Part Troll.
This is great, but you need to listen to an earlier version. It will blow your mind.
There isn't a whole lot of difference, Robert's voice is a bit hoarse and Jason is on the drums, after almost 40 years this still sounds like it did when I first heard it in the early seventies.

This was their last performance with the drummers sons playing...very different from the studio but still way cool
Led zeppelin Kashmir celebration day live
One thing nobody has said about this concert. Bahn son is playing the drums. Zeppelin has not played a bahn song when he passed away. They had so much respect for bahn that they would not play his songs for the respect. Now bahn son is playing the drums that's why you are hearing all these old songs that Bahn played with the group.. so this is a very special concert tour when they did these songs. So yes it was very spiritual and hart felt.
Yes . But not the original version. The1969 official video had the hard driving intensity.
SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE, YES!
What’s happening in the euphoria of a whole Lotta love?🧐💯
You should check out an old live performance, it’s different. Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd… you don’t listen to their music, you experience it.
Hello Ms. Britt Reacts, please visit the Led Zeppelin second album for the excellent studio version.
You should listen to Led Zeppelin Kashmir to here how Robert can really hit the notes
Jason Bonham is on drums he is the son of the original drummer John Henry Bonham those are soda like a yellowish orange see-through transparent drum set that's his father's drum cities playing
Love the church towel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Classic!
I believe the instrument you were asking about was a theremin.
I agree with most other comments , this version is edulcorated , you need to listen to the original official one , which is rather "wild " ( using an understatement )
He is 76 years old now and still performing. Look for Robert plant and Alison krauss.
Studio version is a must.
Yeah, every inch of it.
Jimmys using a theremin to create that screeching sound. Robert was around 58 here
You need to see the version live in the 60s when Bonham was still alive.
Love Me Some Britt and My Braves ❤ #ChopOn #TheChopSquad⚾️ GREAT REACTION
You asked what Jimmy was "mixing". The instrument he is playing is best shown through the magic of (Tangential Segue) the English Musician and Comedian Bill Bailey in Part Troll.
Check out Michael Winslow do a little of this. He is the ultimate sound effects. He was in Police Academy, Spaceballs.
Hey mama, more Zep reaction videos please. You do 'em so well.
