Yep, The Song Remains the Same, every weekend at the midnight movies in Brea, California, 1977 to 1981. I was 16 to 20. Built 68 Mustang. Total boss era!
The boogie-woogie shuffle section reminds me of Jimmy's early days when he was in a skiffle band as a kid. And a ~Happy Birthday~ to Jimmy who has just turned 79!
Wonderful! Wonderful!! I feel so blessed to have grown up in the 60's! I was fortunate to see Led Zeppelin play live about 5 or 6 times....every time they did a concert at the Tampa Stadium. I knew even then that the Led Zeppelin was a legendary band from the beginning. I truly believe that the music of this band will continue long after I'm gone just like Beethovan and all of the other classics. Musical gods!
Saw this first in high school at repeated Midnight Weekend Shows (no youtubes or even dvr's back then, haha), and to this day it only gets BETTER! (And LOUDER! --From me turning it up LOUDER back in the day and so now my hearing ain't what it used to be, go figure, lol!)
Great Work Mike and Dev on those Franken-Film Edits. You truly made this experience Frickin-Fantastic!! If you are not a patreon, realize that the HD viewing of these MSG shows look amazing, on this channel. These guys have worked really hard, to bring this content to you. Happy Birthday Jimmy Page!! Also Happy Birthday to JPJ on the 3rd!! That was my birthday as well!! ☺ And JPJ is pure genius! Bonham follows Jimmy...JPJ never takes his eyes off Bonham...THAT is the difference for this band!
Awright! Capricorn Power! LOL, Happy Belated, Julie, from 1/18/65! (I also remember Robert once said to a reporter or someone when asked about a possible reunion--"You'll have to ask the Capricorns"!)
Guys I was actually at those concerts Best time of my life the 1st time I saw them was 1970 Fillmore East I believe was 1970 so I'm like around 15 times my favorite band ever
I grew up both with the album and with the midnight movie "concerts" (replete with long long lines and clouds of "smoke"). Thanks so much for re-adding the missing parts from the album, which always play in my head when I see the movie. Great stuff!!!
This is totally SICK how you edited the entire uncut audio versions of Heartbreaker and Whole Lotta Love!! This ROCKS! Thank you for this and all you have done with your LZ journey. 👍👏🎸🥁 Been a sub for a few months and first time commenting. Keep up the great work!
Probably the best group ever put together….and their song “ Stairway to Heaven” to me is the best song ever….and voted by most people along with number two “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
thanks for all your hard work putting this stuff together.......top class enjoyable presentation from both of you, and great graphics on the thumbnails too....good luck with the channel from London, UK
Thanks for keeping that funky "I'm just tryin' to find the bridge" section in there. I haven't listened to the album version in decades and had completely forgotten that part. Blasphemy right? Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed your reactions to TSRTS and love your channel. 💯👍✌
Big Hi 5 to you both, and again so appreciate all your work behind the scenes making this vision of TSRTS come to life (so 🤟the HD version) - absolutely awesome! I agree re: JPJ - under appreciated & fabulous bass playing as always; esp during the theramin sequence in WLL...so look forward to your Zep VI reaction 🎸🥁👍
You should definitely do the paris theatre bbc sessions next. It is one of the few official recording that captures plant at his most powerful even with him being sick with laryngitis during that show.
Bought my first Zep song on 45…. Then must have bought all their albums at least five times. Then bought 8 track. Then cassette. Then cd. Then bought digital from apple when you had to pay for songs or albums. Lol what some of us older folks have had to endure for music lol 😂 great reactions, sad also it’s over
Thank you both so much for doing this! I truly hope you're able to keep to this and hit up more of the Zep albums and live concerts...Earls Court '75, Seattle '77, and '79 Knebworth... and finale with 2007 02 Arena.
I'm not sure how many people and reactors realize that you will never see a band or a concert like that again..zep long done.. Pink Floyd.. Done maybe David Gilmour and or a Rodger Waters show but not the same as Pink Floyd in there hey day... Genesis fantastic show also.. Done.. I don't think you will ever see that much talent on a stage again Zeppelin All-Stars Pink Floyd All Stars Genesis All-Stars mostly Phil Collins I've seen over 100 concerts I've seen today's music I've seen Zeppelin Pink Floyd several times Genesis several times sure there are other shows from back in the 70s and 80s Queensryche princess fantastic but to see that much talent and All-Star bands and putting on that kind of show maybe tool never saw them but I heard about how good they are... these great bands all we have now is memories if you saw them and concerts like you just showed four people who haven't... just my thought.. Ps those bands gave there all at every show... It wasn't just standing and playing instruments and singing... It was an experience not just a concert.. Thank you for showing one of the best live concerts ever
I'm with you Dev, while I was around 14 at the time of these shows and didn't make it there. I would love to go back to see them. I'm trying to remember if I saw this movie in a theater, maybe, after it was almost 50 years go. If I did there wasn't amazing sound, don't think Dolby was standard in theaters then, it showed up a little later. I remember seeing "Star Wars" and it was in Dolby in 1977. I've been to the Garden a couple of times to see a concert and it's amazing.
Just think, after you react to physical graffiti you can do the live earls court concert that has physical graffiti material, it's only a 3-hour concert 😂😂
Yeah, it really was a shame that we didn’t get the whole concert filmed . All they needed to do was hire a competent film crew lol, the crew was high out of their minds most of the time filming the show. It’s really a sin that they didn’t capture the show in its entirety, but I’m happy with what we got .
since ive been loving you? Robert's Plant, the 5th member of Led Zep. Nicely done, your edits made the songs better, don't know why Jimmy left them out to begin with
I saw the movie on premier night in NYC at the Ziegfeld Theater. Amazing as it was, it was disappointing in that the sound track was so subdued in volume. The audience was screaming for the operator to please PLEASE MAKE IT LOUDER! But there was nothing that could be done. So incredibly unfortunate!
You know there's a whole uncut version of a whole lot of love it was never cut out of the movie! No need for the skills you could have got the full version it's out there uncut
nobody has really said it but the 60s was dominated by the vocalist while the 70s was dominated by the guitarist. In the case of Led Zeppelin they dominated everything.
I remember in the early 90's on my vid at the beginning of Stairway guitar part the top down Jimmy Page had a bald patch but these days that bald patch has vanished into thin air. The Song Remains The Same the most cut and spliced film in history lol, but still the Greatest four musicians as a group to walk the planet. The robbery was a NY payoff, their crew were killers employed by Peter Grant taken from the London underground and I can tell you at a rough guess no one was robbing them without their permission in this world or the next. Their spirit is old, ancient past memory, a knowing without knowing.
The “ Heartbreaker” segment is an example of how poorly the cameramen worked. Basically there’s maybe 25% of footage from the stage. Glad they got the shot of Jimmy playing just with his left hand, which must have been close to falling off his wrist by that point in the show.
As much as the studio stuff is awesome,, the live MSG version of most songs are arguably better. You didn't need to hack the video to avoid the sensor.

And this is why they are the greatest rock band in history

Damn. Those Floor Toms are just awesome.

the live whole lotta love is one of the greatest recordings in history.
So true
Theremin freakout
@@VynilSpin 1975 lives has better theremins, lol.
The thing is Led Zeppelin were one of the only bands to improvise live, so they were absolute pioneers. And Jimmy knew how to invoke the crowd.
The boogie-woogie shuffle section reminds me of Jimmy's early days when he was in a skiffle band as a kid. And a ~Happy Birthday~ to Jimmy who has just turned 79!
One of my favorite Zeppelin breakdowns,..... "one night, I believe I''ve told you this before...." 🥰
Just listen to those bass lines through the "Theremin" part of the solo.
The one thing that always came through no matter how many times you saw them live is that they really enjoyed doing this.
Zeppelin was jam band. And as far as jam bands go, I'll say right there with the Dead.
It's just silly how great they are!

Hi both. There’s some interesting camera work focusing on Robert during WLL. Quite impressive on a big screen in a cinema/movie theatre. Enjoy!!
