Lyrics:
I FORGOT WHAT IT WAS THAT I WAS
THERE WAS A TIME WHEN I HAD SOME AMBITION
NOW I JUST SEEM TO HAVE INHIBITIONS
FORGET WHAT I SAID
‘BOUT ACTING ON ALL THE PLANS THAT I MADE
NOW I JUST SIT IN THE CORNER COMPLAINING
MAKING OUT THINGS WERE BEST IN THE 80’S
COS I FORGOT
THERE’S SO MANY THINGS THAT I PRETEND TO YOU I’M NOT
SOMETHING I LOST
AND I KNOW WHAT IT MEANT TO YOU
I KNOW WHAT IT MEANT TO YOU
WHAT I SAID TO YOU
IS CROSSING THE LINE AND YOU’LL NEVER BEGIN TO FORGET
I FORGOT WHAT IT WAS THAT I’M NOT
YOU CAN PROTEST THAT I CAN’T MAKE COMMITMENTS
BUT IT DON’T SEEM TO MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE
FORGET WHAT I’VE DONE
TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE THAT GAVE ME THEIR LOVE
WELL I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH SLEEPING AT NIGHT
I’VE DONE WRONG BUT I JUST DON’T REMEMBER
COS I FORGOT
THERE’S SO MANY THINGS THAT I PRETEND TO YOU I’M NOT
SOMETHING I LOST
AND I KNOW WHAT IT MEANT TO YOU
I KNOW WHAT IT MEANT TO YOU
WHAT I SAID TO YOU
IS CROSSING THE LINE AND YOU’LL NEVER BEGIN TO FORGET

my fav artist of all time and I am 60
Favourite artist and I am 15
Nice taste, guys!
He was but this is awful, thought it was Cliff Richard.
I'm almost there Bill. My favorite artist of all time
, I'm 56. Greetings from Brazil.
I have lots of favorites but he is right among the top and I‘m 69!
This is the Pop Music that I was hoping for.
AMEN.

Me too.Love
IT
I like this album and like how he is not afraid to change genres like some musicians might.
My god, you're so fucking cringe that it hurts
I am very happy to live in a world where we get an excellent Steven Wilson solo album AND a new Porcupine Tree song and album announcement in the same year.
Honestly, so many good releases this year from metal, to pop, and synth wave. 2022 is looking like a banger of a year for music.

You are my Lord...Sir.Love from India.
Excellent message SW!
Perfect!
you are my hero , you are the best sign for my heart . i hope to see you soon . (Persian fan and Musician).
The guy from Galexia is gushing about this song on his Twitter. He said you made him quit music with how easy you made this song seem LOL I love Galexia and I hope he's kidding.
When Steven Wilson's lyrics hit, they hit you hard. Harder than the last time they hit you hard.
Truth!
bilkul
sach bola bhai
his lyrics suck tho
They do, hit hard, slap me right in the face, rock us right, explain, and how Steve and his ppl put these thoughts into perspective musically. One could say - unprecedented. Mega-inspirational, every Single track, and we try hard, not to compete, just absorb the inspiration
"God is proof. God is fashion ..."

@@Amelie594 Porcupine Tree were more than just the "In Absentia" era - they covered a lot of ground before then including electronica. I love "In Absentia" and the prog-metal tracks but the mindset that that work is the sum of PT or Steven Wilson is frustrating.
Edit: Never mind - I see you're just spamming every other comment which is a great way to guarantee I never look at that video.
This sounds like the closing track to a Blackfield record, actually dig it over the other songs on the record.
Yeah like it would be the worst B-side demo from Blackfield, that never made to the public. Wake up Steven, you can do much much better!
yeah! Definitely strong Blackfield vibes
I thoguht the same. It could be a song of Blackfield
From 44 to 48
@@osi22 I hope you are able to find happiness in your life. Steven has.
"NOW I JUST SIT IN THE CORNER COMPLAINING
MAKING OUT THINGS WERE BEST IN THE 80’S" - I thought that Steven was too self-aware in Personal Shopper, but this is whole new level!
Too self aware? We need more of that.
This is one of the best songs of steven wilson till date according to me. It is up there with Lazarus , Time flies , Trains too. Long live Steven Wilson!❤️
Up at 3 am to hear this in Texas, USA. Love you Steven!!!
This has been replayed over 20 times at least on my drive home. Fucking well done.
I play drive home on my drive home. When I'm arriving, I play arriving somewhere but not here. When I go to bed, I play anesthetize
Qué canción tan bonita y fácil de escuchar! Un soplo de aire fresco que anima el día !!
The lyrics sum up my life up to this point. I caused damage to many people, and then chose to forget it, not thinking about the people who didn't forget what I did to them. I'm sorry.
Same man...
..
I hope you found a way to come to peace with those things for your sake. sending prayers and hopes my guy!
“What I said to you is crossing the line and you’ll never begin to forget.”
OOF. Like a punch to the gut, Steven.
High five to all the other people sitting in a parking lot listening and singing along to this song instead of going into work on time!
I'm a simple man.
I see a video from Steven Wilson...I click faster than light.
Hey, it's a vintage SW song! This has some real throwback vibes to Blackfield. I always enjoy his more organic instrumentation rather than the synth heavy stuff.
As I was first listening to this, my spouse asked, “oh cool, is this Blackfield?” It’s definitely got that vibe.
Absolutely my thoughts. Blackfield.
I like this song a lot too, but I'm curious to hear the full album, in context, if it really is that much different in the end. I'm all ears when SW is experimenting and going new directions. We'll always have the old stuff
ua-cam.com/video/rGuhrCD2XkI/v-deo.html
If you love PT, here's a cover of the king ghost song in PT style with guitar solos
synthesizer music is PLENTY organic. and stevens work in this area is spectacular
Cutest SW song with Floydian backvocals in the chorus, liked it
This is the Steven Wilson that many people had missing. Sad lyrics in the veins of Insurgentes age with very fresh music. Wonderful song really, I'm impressed and this is the best way of wake up this morning.
Thank you Steven.
Loving the Alan Parsons DSOTM vocal chords behind the chorus.
Was just thinking the same thing. Very Floydian.
Time =)
Steven Wilson literally just ended my music career with this single. Still I dance.

If you love PT, here's a cover of the king ghost song in PT style with guitar solos
This is absolutely brilliant. I'm hanging in there Steven.
It's amazing how he can put such a depressing lyrics into such a happy tune. right now I don't know whether to feel completely fulled of joy or feel really, trully, fully sad.
Anyways, I love it.
I read somewhere that if you feel happy you will pay more attention to the music and if you're sad youll pay more attention to the lyrics.
Like as in life itself, when everything looks and sounds like it's alright but deep inside everything's falling down.
He's been doing that for years. Blackest Eyes has great melody but VERY dark lyrics.
So happy yet it hurts
Oh my!
Lumpy throat, check.
Leaky eyes and nose, check.
A song so beautiful,
it arrives as if it's always existed.
It has a Crowded House feel to it!
We've our own most valuable thing called 'passion' and his dedication, creation is the reason of me being alive. He is the only human who brings so much happiness in my life that no one other ever could have.
He brings joy to everyone of us but the more you get to know him, the more depressed he seems. What a magician!
That's very sad and the song is crap
@@stuartraybould6433 this sounds like early PT and blackfield, I guess you hate those too.. also why are you here then?
@@bandit4690 I've brought nearly everything he as done, that's why. I'm not a fan boy though, I'm not going to buy it just because he's done it, it must be good and this isn't. It is unbelievable just how bad it is, nobody is going to be listening to this in twenty years time or even ten. To the Bone was weak, four songs of this one and it looks even worse. I'm off to other pastures, you enjoy the mediocrity.
@@stuartraybould6433 huge difference between saying you don’t like something and calling it crap. As a fan of SW and PT starting in 1996 I certainly do not love every song and album, but I am courteous to recognize his skill and talent and refrain from insulting the man. As it stands I do love this song. The lyrics in particular seem sincere and have an authentic message for someone.
This feels like is a new version on the song from Blackfield - from 44 to 48
Ha that's what I was thinking too!
44 to 48 is a painful listen. Moved me to tears and this has a similar feel. Like it a lot
Now I can place it! I was trying to figure out what song it sounded like. 44-48 is amazing...
The best pop song the mass won't ever hear.
Genuinely teared up listening to this, the lyrics are incredible... this has to be some of Stevens best work yet.
Very relatable lyrics for me. One of the reasons I'll always be loving whatever SW does❤
Easily the best song on the record for me. The outro guitar is simple perfection.
That's the vibe we needed since a while!
Major Frampton vibes too, in the best possible way. May this be your Wilson Comes Alive!
Strong Blackfield vibe but I like it :)
yep certainly blackfieldesque
yes, especially the song Blackfield - from 44 to 48
Why "but"
finally a song I really dig out of the singles. strong Blackfield/Abba vibes and an overall Lightbulb Sun/Stupid Dream mood... really nostalgic
I love how Steven continues to improve in his melodious singing and phrasing so that a song like this is the catchiest it can be ! And lovely solo at the end
Cliff Richard and The Shadows, not a complement, it's awful.
@@stuartraybould6433 the song sounds like a more melancholy, better version of Nowhere Now in my opinion. Steven's usual sound - a blend of Blackfield, Lazarus and Nowhere Now
@@dantess2693 I'm not hearing that, it's just awful. It's the happy vibe, just terrible.
@@stuartraybould6433 there are always brighter songs on Steven's albums, not everything has to be dripping in sadness- this song is sequenced just before King Ghost after all. Even so I still think this song has more melancholy and less happiness than Nowhere Now
@@dantess2693 It's the music, too simple, too old, too awful.
I can dig it. I am not afraid to like pop. By far my favorite song on this album so far
This song and King Ghost hit different. Also dig Personal Shopper too
This is a genuinely perfect song
This is a great pop song, SW style and feel. Great work.
This is the kind of Pop song that should be on the radio (and unfortunately, isn't). Steven is remarkably versatile, and brilliant at any genre he takes on.
Blackfield vibes i feel here
Now THIS is the Steven Wilson I love listening to. I would take an entire album like this.
If you loved Porcupine Tree, you probably would find this King ghost version beautiful.
ua-cam.com/video/rGuhrCD2XkI/v-deo.htmlm10s
Guitar solos gives a fitting end.
Vintage Wilson, just what we needed in 2020
This is the best ABBA song SW ever wrote. Fantastic.
What's an ABBA song?
@@rajasik_ghosh Permanating :D
Idiot, best song on the album I would guess
First i thought there is a little bit Jeff Lynne inside. But after comparing it i dont know why i felt it. Maybe its too positive. . But i am searching for what it reminds me from the early 80s.. it wasnt ABBA

This is what I call a beautiful beautiful song...👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️👏👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏🙏Steven is always the best!!!
This hit hard. It’s like every word was written from the perspective of my father. They’re literally the words I wish I could have written to let him know what he’s been doing to everyone around him.
After the first listen I was like "Oh, it's a very Steven Wilson song, I love it!"
I came back today and I can't stop crying about how beautiful it is. The melody in the chorus just makes me weep.

0:28 this part reminded me of "Significant Other" quite a lot.
Pretty good song, I'm learning to love the new SW.
I have to let my comment for this song recorded here. Steven's courage to reinvent himself and still provide us with beautiful music like this is touching. What a phenomenon! Few artists are able to touch our souls with both the melodies and the lyrics of their songs. Thank you, Steve!
Obrigado, Steve!
4 am and This Song. Bliss.
This is the most Lazarusesque song of TFB
I had the same impression 🥰
Lazarus? Bullcrap. It's miles apart.
@@saurabhsuman1083 Yes it's a little like Blackfield.
every song with acoustic guitar is lazarus
I had the same feeling, not sure why. It's not just the acoustic guitar either. They're completely different songs but it still reminds me of Lazarus for some reason.
I'm so happy to listen to this new song, it's gonna be a good day for sure 🌈 thank you so much
Goosebumps
Nothing as great as a well written pop song with great lyrics !.... Love this track !
I forgot Porcupine tree...the greatest ever
Paaraa
Greatest ever indeed.
Wrong spelling. It's Koenjihyakkei.
How could you forget Porcupine Tree if they're the greatest ever?
@@TheDondoran I'm saying this from Steven Wilson's perspective. He moved on and forgot what in my opinion is the greatest ever!! He surely can never forget PT but he went past it, maybe he had to...
Really like this track. This new album will be a complete breath of fresh air in my opinion.👍
When I forget the wrongs I have done, I certainly sleep much better. Great, great line in this song. Rock on, Mr Wilson.
Contemporary Steven Wilson track.
Very listenable yet has his mark all over it!
Dear God,
Thanks for creating Steven Wilson.
Amen.
Can hear Dark Matter vibe in opening part, seen PT play DM live at 50ft holding a cold pint in a sparsely filled hall... mesmerizing! 🍺 have met SW and can say without a doubt, he is a gentleman... A unique talent for which Hemmel Hempstead and the UK should be mighty proud! 🍺

King ghost cover with a guitar solos, I just loved it. They added some PT flavours.
Simply wow....Regards frm india
It will be impossible not to sing along at the entirety of this lovely song 😊
i actually love it. genuinely enjoyed that. its very different from stuff in the past but its bloody brilliant!!!
Honestly, I was pretty apathetic about the album after the first two singles... But the last two have really recaptured my interest. First King Ghost, now this. King Ghost felt like blossoming into a beautiful new territory, and this one feels like the comfort of home.

Steven did it again. Pure genius making beautiful songs and melodies. Moving
The best of all pop/rock music, created and performed by a prog rock master.
Merci beaucoup, Steven Wilson, pour toute votre musique et vos chansons. Et celle-ci ne fait pas exception; elle est très belle. Ça m'aide à supporter le confinement causé par la pandémie. :-)

Incredible lyrics and tune, Steven. Missed these kind of tracks from you.
You keep on being you. No matter the musical direction or theme, you inspire something new and exciting that can't and shouldn't be defined by your past.
Thank you for what came before and, enjoying the now, I look forward to what's next!
thanks for the lyrics here and in the video!! bless
nothing lights up my speakers like a Steven Wilson tune, you're just fucking outstanding. Thank you!!!!!
💟
The acoustic guitar rhythm is pretty clever. A trademark of him.
Oh my God! What a throwback!
Deeply love the acoustic sound of every instrument in this music
Lazarus+blackfields's from 44-48.
Not complaining. Love it.
This is my favorite track so far. Loving the vibes in this one.
Initially loved the song, but then read through the lyrics - just damn. Can't wait for the rest of the album.
So far my favorite song from the new album. Not sure this will ever be my favorite SW solo record but I'm digging it
The rhythm is so George Harrison.
...so George
Steven is just flexing his song writing skills at the moment. The World needed new ABBA like pop; thank you Steven.
This is amazingly, amusingly vague
its perfect.
Dude he just made a fucking LEGIT pop-song using stereotypical messaging in the lyrics.
-claps
I cannot agree. There is enough pop out there. I miss the old sounds between 2011 and 2016 where he experimented much more and brought us some true prog stuff. That's the steven I know. But yeah, people change over time . . .
you really are a bit dim if you think this sounds like Abba..lol
@@MephProduction Uhhh Listen to the way the melody flows in the chorus and the building piano rising higher - It's danceable - Female background singers - Sounds like a modern ABBA - and Steven has always stated he's wanted to make an ABBA like POP album.
@@AcceleratedEvolution LOL. ok whatever. i think you need to listen to more music.
@@MephProduction (Part 1 of 2, long response). I'm a musician who went to school for composition and production which led me to work with artists most people look up to. On my debut album I had Arjen Lucassen of Ayreon, Damian Wilson of Threshold/Wakeman/etc, Marko Eskola of Farmakon. My first single was 10 minutes long; featured Arjen Lucassen on Lead Vocals and became an instant classic for fans of Prog.
I'm in the "History of Progressive Rock" book; on Amazon one of the pages luckily (it helps branding) discusses my one man band with guest vocalists "Galexia". They author dubbed the music as "Avant-Garde Prog" which was not what I was going for, but I'll take it.
I am not trying to be a dick, I just feel perhaps you are letting your musical bias and expectations detach your ability to listen to this specific single, which molds together Alt-Rock, Neo-60's, "Art Rock" with the melodic intention of ABBA like pop. This is something Steven himself stated was his goal with "Permanenting" to create an "ABBA" like pop piece. - I feel this song is far closer to a musical number you'd connect to ABBA than "Permanenting" was.
It may not be Dancing Queen through-out but the chorus alone would bring any pop friendly listener to tap along, perhaps move and dance to it.
This is the hardest thing to do as a musician and songwriter, don't dismiss ABBA due to the pop elements - Don't dismiss Steven's POP-Music adventure as some die-hard Prog Only fans have done... Every musician dreams of nailing the perfect pop formula and it is so rare that it happens.
This song is an example of nailing it. If they made a Momma Mia style musical film based on Steven's Music in the future This would be one of the big numbers (I am sure the future will hold more of this brilliant composition and style as he continues his musical journey.) That is an IMPRESSIVE and AMAZING thing to have accomplished.
I've been working on my 3rd LP for 11 years because I have been so hard on myself trying to find that sound that allows me to experiment while nailing a commercially successful tune. It's not the goal of why I make music, I am a musician to create what I enjoy and would want others to enjoy.
I have done the sprawling prog "epic" songs in my past, during these songs moments; perhaps a faint flicker of Steven's pop-bliss will appear; It's easier to compose mind melting time-signature changes than it is to craft a memorable catchy pop tune that STANDS THE TEST OF TIME.
I love this song, my favourite on the album and I'd like Steven to make more songs like it.
And Steven continues to deliver. These are my chords I like to write with. Some of the many I’ve stolen from you thank you so much Steven Wilson you are my bible writer. 💗🔮
Love it! It's obviously a personal song, but I feel like I relate a lot. So far, I'm really digging TFB!
Beautiful song
When a brilliant musician tackles pop. Beautiful work
I missed simple and beautiful SW songs
This sounds like a faster version of "From 44 to 48" from Blackfield.
Bring this to 3:45 Version - sent it to Radio-Station - A new Nr.1 Hit is born - come on do it!!!
And please play it on „The future bites Session“
He listened to you!
I had prepared a comment about how much I really didn't like it but the song played and ended and I changed my mind. I'll wait to hear the whole album.

King ghost cover with a guitar solos, I just loved it. They added some PT flavours.
Mr Wilson.. You made my morning 100% better. And I'm just grateful ❤️
Could the lyrics refer to his career tranformation, a letter to his lifitime fans that observe him through the years?
Of course they do!
Absolutely. Even more so when you consider the music. I think even the Pure Narcotic chord is in here. There's so much depth in this song, right down to SW quite obviously referring to Jeff Lynne. As a Porcupine Tree fan since 2001 I'm kind of heartbroken but I really understand where he's at.
Yes....he's a clever guy
In fact, for a split second the b&@:;) had me happily and semi-nostalgically humming along, thinking he’d returned to form. It was only upon realizing the lyrical hint to Jeff Lynne that I got the message.
or to his wife he first met 20 years ago put family commitments aside
Curious how this will fit in the album
do you think this song should not belong on the new album? It sound so different than the rest?
Comes after King Ghost and then is followed by Eminent Sleeze
@@cravis123 I'm pretty sure that it will fit perfectly in the album just sound different, but knowing how SW works his albums I'm curious
@@santixv3 Don't forget that these are just one version of the tracks we're hearing. There could be little passages of music on the album which fit the songs together more concisely, that wouldn't make sense for a single edit.
Spoiler : it won't, just like Permating didn't quite fit in TTB.
I love the song , i love the melody, it does not matter if it sounds as blackfield or porcupine... it’ s new and i like it. Thanks SW !
