The job is easier if you remove the 6 bolts holding the upper core support. You’re already there since you removed the latch. Then you can remove or install the fans and rad as a unit or you can still do individually if you like.

Great tutorial, Honda keeps making harder and harder to make DIY repairs on newer Hondas.

By far the best Honda radiator/cooling fan tutorial I've watched. Thanks for the assist.

i found a better one if your radiator is fine.

Replacing the fans like this is not the best way if your radiator does not need to be replaced. I find just removing that bar located between the radiator and the engine makes the job much easier and faster.

After watching this video, I will be reluctant to allow this mechanic to work on my vehicle.
Draining the coolant seemed an extra step but, since it was foreseeing to break the radiator taps, that explained that.
After adding penetrating oil, it should at least seat for an hour but, looking how heavy the bolts are rusted, a second application should of being applied. Also using players or vice grip to hold the square bolt would assist and possibly preventing breaking the plastic taps. The part that hit me even heavier was, why the top cross member was not removed? By removing the top cross member will provide more room to work with allowing the fans to come out without running the risk to damage the grill. Optionally, remove the grill to allow more room to work with. At the end, anti-seized was not applied to the new bolts to prevent future corrosion driving back to braking the ears again. From my stand point, the job compare to replacing a fan was more than the fan itself. And yes, I understand the fan needed to be replace.

Ok well do the job your self and if you want it done how you want it done and stop complaining 🤦‍♂️

@@davidd6003 But he has a point. Doing all that work in regards to the radiator is pointless if the radiator is fine. I found removing that top cross bar between the radiator and the engine gives you more room to work. Maybe you shouldn't complain about valid points my guy.

Well done! Do you have a video of replacing the condenser fan on a 2010 Honda CR-V?

You did that the hard way why did you not just remove the upper radiator support?

    • @dano5238

agreed. Why mess with a perfectly good radiator? They need to do a separate video for just the fan removal.

Question: I believe I only need to replace the fan on the driver side. Will I need to remove the AC fan as well as the radiator before being able to get it out or will I be able to switch it out without taking the entire thing out?

Also I wouldn’t need to drain the radiator if I’m not removing it correct?

+Alexandros Kolazas We wouldn't be able to say if you're doing something different than this video shows but, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com

While this video is great if you need to replace the AC fan and or the radiator, it's not great if you need to replace just the radiator fan. If you need to replace just the radiator fan, you can remove that support bar that is between the radiator fan and the engine compartment. there is another video here on UA-cam that shows you how to do it.

PLEASE add the footage of removing the second fan. It was significantly harder than the first in my 09 CRV to the point that I literally had to cut up and destroy the old fan just to get it out. I can't imagine why it wasn't shown.

She removed the radiator first, then removed the second fan. Watch it again.

@@virtual_intel if the radiator if fine, there is no need to drain it and remove it just to replace fans. This video is fine IF you need to replace your radiator as well as the fans. For me, this video wasn't much of a help as my radiator is fine. The original OEM Denso fan Honda uses for the radiator has a bigger motor than the AC fan and it was impossible to get out without having to cut up the fan or possible damage the radiator trying to force it out. So for me, this video was not much of a help. I found removing that cross bar between the radiator and the engine was a much better option and gave me all the room I needed to replace the fan's.

If you bought new, shouldn't it still be under warranty? I imagine the replacement should still be the same. You're going to want to remove the cover and see how you can access the fans.
