What about if my heather works perfectly fine BUT only on the maximum where it just gets too hot in the car if you put any other level it won't blow anything
I'm not a mechanic, so this was super helpful. I didn't know that there were so many parts that made the heat/air work. Very impressive! Thanks for the amazing breakdown. I replaced the blower motor. I probably didn't even need to because it stopped working a few weeks later. I found out that it was the pigtail. One of the prongs on the resister was a little burned, so I carefully cleaned it. I had to change the pigtail that I bought from a local automotive store. The wires were pre-coded by letters. I did them one by one. I had trouble getting the original wires into the connector. I taped it up pretty well with electrical tape. One by one, and then together. Please done run the heat/ac on full blast all of the time for long periods as this seems to cause it to burn out quicker. I saw that mine had been replaced before. I hope this helps. God Bless
@dedebaby2459 Hello, my problem ended up being the pigtail. The hardest part was getting underneath the glove box to get to the wires. I had trouble fitting the wires into the connectors but it did fix the issues. I did replace the blower motor. Very easy to replace. I did check the resister. Only one section was a little burned but I carefully cleaned the prong. Be careful not to run the heat/Ac on high all of the time as it will cause it to overheat. I did get the part from the local automotive store. Advanced Auto Parts. Autozone sells them fairly inexpensive. The Ford Dealership wanted a few hundred dollars just for the resister. Not including labor so I did it myself
on my Nissan Rogue 2008 mine dont work i think its the blower cause before had to hot the side of the heater control then it kicks in bit now nothing but feel a bit of heat when driving fast but dats it so u think its the blower and if so is it a easy fix and to get at ??
Hyundai excel X3 , heater core flushed AC regassed Blower working Fuse working Coolant level perfect But ac not cooling And heater not hearing , only blower blowing normal air , what is the issue here?
Man i fixed everything but the heater valve, and water pump. I'm about to eliminate the heater valve. Damn, it could even be the heater core. All I changed was the radiator. Any suggestions before I get to the winter?
I turn on my defrost and it takes forever to defrost what is wrong , how to fix ? Also inside windows are fogged up and wet . Think I have leak from door or windows or windshield. Either way defrost should work fast if it's not very cold it frozen glass but it doesn't. Help !!!
The lowest temperature in my car it can get to 60°, but the high is only 73 so I took it to a shop and asked and it was because they did not put the AC and the heat on properly so they fixed it now the highest is 85°
I hear a water sound behind the dash once I fixed the coolant levels but the fan doesn’t even blow so I think it’s the motor blower so is there another explanation to the sound?
Yes, great presentation Easy to understand and implement... barring a few detailed removal of the dash board Etc... But Thanks anyway for parting your Mechanical knowledge...
Very helpful video!!! after many forums check and test everything on my 06 Subaru Impreza I found the hot/cold switch part was broken I never check under left (driver side) and when I changed it from cold to hot guess what?? The small plastic arm was broken I use a small flat screwdriver to roll it a bit and Boom!!! Start blowing hot right up!
I had the problem where everything appeared normal yet no great. I simply disconnected the battery for about 15 minutes and then reconnected the battery cables and then I gad heat. I was cleaning the battery cables which really weren't in that bad of shape anyways. It was just a routine maintenance.
It’s 20 degrees outside and I’ve been driving with no heat. During the hot summers of 90 degrees I have no A/C. I’m not sure what the issue. The blower works. My car doesn’t overheat. I can hear the door open. My radiator is clogged with dirt from off roading 2 years ago.. not sure if that has anything to do with it but it didn’t work before that so. Whatever the temperature is outside, it’s the same temperature that comes into the cabin.
Same with my 2006 Toyota Corrola. First AC stopped blowing cold. One Mechanic said hole in compressor (or condensor, forget one or the other), $1200 to fix. Mechanic I know better said $800. Both Mechanics said if not fixed eventually will mess up other stuff. Didn't fix it & 2 yrs later Heater stopped blowing hot air. Now the $800 Mechanic retired! Arrrg in Texas!!
i have 2010 honda civic, i have not heat, i jump the axuiliary water pump is working, no clog in heater, blend door working. when i turn heat: not heat, pump is not run, even i jump the pump still have not heat. please help thx.
Hi buddy I 2007 honda odyssey I had leaking antifreeze . I found when my car stop in middle road. I start it by jumper cable. 20 mints I realize that is overheat. I drove it 5/7 KM then start add antifreeze but it wasn't filling. I checked under engine no signs of leaking. Actually the leak was on passenger side at front of rear tire. I add antifreeze the next day to garage to fix it . Later that day he called its fixed. He said he changed one of hose. Now It is not go overheat now. But it leaks a bit .and now I can't get hot air on driver side but I get medium heat on passenger side. I checked my actuator it moves up and down both side. Tks
Sound like there's still some air in the system, I would take it back to the shop you had it repaired at, they should've fixed it when they replaced your hose.
I’ve recently had my heater matrix changed and my heating worked for around 4 hours “only on high” and has now stopped blowing warm air. I can also hear flowing water behind dashboard. Any suggestions please?
I changed thermostat, remove the heater core and clean, clean all the system and ac in mechanical, the check everything buttons, electric stuff etc, i changed water pump, coolant level is ok, still no heat, i have a little bit heat when rpm is high, but when idle its cold, engine temperature is normal, no coolant leaks all hoses seems to be in good condition, didnt know what to do anymore, avensis t22
It can be part of the design. I have a heater core replacement video for a Jeep Liberty, Part 2 talks about the same exact issue You can watch from 0:20 to 0:40 and from 6min 33 sec to the end to get an idea why - ua-cam.com/video/UfXn_0_1MXg/v-deo.html
So here’s where I’m at.. my speakers were bugging out, and I narrowed it down to the head unit. I managed to fix it that, but now my heat doesn’t work. It will only blow cold air. It worked while I was on the way to get the new part, but after I replaced it, nothing. I plugged in the old head unit to make sure it was nothing to do with the new part, but that’s not the case.. Anyone?
My daughter has an Audi a3 she has a warning light on that said coolant too hot stop driving, there is no heat inside the car it has been to Audi they replaced the water pump, the thermostate and the heating matrix, cat still has the same issue, they say the car needs stripping back to the engine which will cost a fortune any ideas??
there's a lot of ideas I could suggest, but I would recommend taking it to another mechanic in your area (a reputable shop that works on audis) to get a second opinion.
Have coolant leak under car but only when I turn on the heater. Doesn’t leak when heater is off. Leak is under the cabin not engine. What can it be bad hose ?
if your heater core has a leak and you have a heater valve (in one of the heater hoses) it will cause the leak to appear only when the valve is open (when you turn on the heat) - letting coolant flow into the heater core.
I love your videos. I showed my mechanic my over flow tank was rusty and foamy like in your video and he said my radiator was no good and I need to replace it that was during the summer. Now about six months later in the winter I have no heat and over heating problems. I am going to show him your video. Thanks a bunch.
Honda amaze engine is having overheating problem so Isuspected thermostat valve and is tested at 100 degee centigrade, but the valve is opening normally much before boiling point. Fitted again and checked, but the overheating issue is continuing. Existing coolent in the radiator is boiling and also building pressure and so the expansion tank is filled with boiling coolent and with steam, so finally the coolent is being coughing out through expansion tank cap. Now how can I suspect thermostat. What should I do. Any other component I should suspect?.
most likely it is not your thermostat, sounds like a blown head gasket - exposing engine combustion into the cooling system, definitely a test for a repair facility to perform, but if you try to start your car cold with a radiator cap open and you see coolant spitting out right away - you can bet it is a blown head gasket.

Hey I have a heat issue. No heat on driver side and Luke warm on the passenger side. I did a heater core flush 2 times and the heat would blow hot as can be for a a day or 2 then back to cold. What could be the issue?
I have a Pricus and what happens with my Prius is I only get cold air when I am using the battery only, engine not running. Could the blender door be the reason why I only get cold air when stationary. Also it takes about 1 minute before the controls for the HVAC can be used. Thank you
...excellent video, I have a problem with the heat in my chrysler 300, 2008. When I start the engin I get heat then slowly becomes cold. The only way I can get the heat is to turn temperature at maximum. If I try to set it back at a lower temperature it becomes cold again. A clogged heater core can be a cause. Thx, Leonel
Last week, Car Smart told us that it needed a new fan blower and resistor. A nice mechanic in Walmart auto (when I got an oil change) said to order the parts on Amazon and watch a youtube video and do it ourselves. So I ordered a resistor for $14 and a blower for $37 at Amazon. The one company sent the WRONG blower, too small. So my 23-year-old son was only able to put in the resistor. And it did the job!!! We now have heat! It's incredible! I'm just sharing this because my son has never worked on cars before, but replacing it wasn't that difficult of a job. I wish everyone the best at having heat, so they don't blow their circuits like I did trying a portable window defroster! :P Maybe do like me-- take it to a shop and pay a $50 diagnostic fee, and then just do it yourselves. (I don't know why they said it needed a blower though. I'm hoping it wasn't Car Smart being dishonest---- but that it's just hard to diagnose which one is the problem. (Does anyone know if it's hard to tell which is bad?)
Why is your son doing the job? Why not you? Also why ask others - check it out yourself. You do have two hands, eyes, and a brain, same as any man, right? I'm female. I learn how to do everything myself. I got tired of being dependent on men. Now they ask me.

We have a 2012 Ford Explorer, Fords are renowned for great heaters. Sadly ours is a lemon 🍋 we have had so much trouble with direction flap servo motors it ain’t funny. My feet can be melting and the passenger side is a freezer. Ford where not willing to listen to this problem despite it being on file whilst still under warranty. Ford warranty is a joke, we also have body cancer that was reported under warranty. Their response was, unless the body is so bad that we can push a finger through the bodywork it wasn’t Fords problem. It’s getting time for a new car Ford will not be on that list for a replacement. As a comparison our other car is a 2005 V6 Hyundai Santa Fe. Very high mileage and zero problems from new and still going strong.
Hi thank you for the video, my car barely any heat comes out also air con doesn't come on, also I notice the engine gets hot tho my thermostat stays in the middle. Could you tell me what you think it is. Thank you
Brilliant work. Sad that the idea of the heater blower not responding to speed selection wasn’t addressed. I get that my switch is broke. Just really hate mechanical obligations like these. For record the video is brilliant. No shade intended from me. Anyone who can work on cars is a fkn magician to me
I have a 03 Jeep with no heat. Flushed the heater core, changed coolant (a few times) and still no heat. I’m thinking there’s something wrong with the blend door now. I’ll have to check that out. If not, I’m guessing a new heater core. 😅
If I could give this video 100,000 likes I would. I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler #WranglerTJ #noheat. Hands down the BEST video I have found if you don't know WHY you don't have heat. Because sure everyone could guess by watching all the videos who's title suggests they are going to help you diagnose the issue but then quickly or sometimes not so quickly the topic gets dominated by what their specific heating issue's solution was and now you van never get those precious minutes or accumulated hours of your life back. But hey look at the bright side, you know now how to solve the issue if you ever one day possibly potentially end up with it. Thanks "Make It Easy Mechanic" you are a rock star! Better then anything I have found even on Jeep Forums, jus dont tell the Jeep guys I said that

I have a Pricus and what happens with my Prius is I only get cold air when I am using the battery only, engine not running. Could the blender door be the reason why I only get cold air when stationary. Also it takes about 1 minute before the controls for the HVAC can be used. Thank you
That was great
very informative
My car blows hot air but only when i drive around but if i leave it in park the hot air goes to cold air what do i do?
Check coolant level, consider flushing the heater core and burping air out of the system. If none of that helps you may need a new heater core.
Very helpful thanks
Great video; unfortunately I understood only half of it. Not a very technical guy.
Thank u I miss my husband this helped
So amazing explanation & very professional but the talk is very fast if you consider slowing down a bit would be great, many thanks.
...excellent video, I have a problem with the heat in my chrysler 300, 2008.
When I start the engin I get heat then slowly becomes cold. The only way I can get the heat is to turn temperature at maximum. If I try to set it back at a lower temperature it becomes cold again. A clogged heater core can be a cause. Thx, Leonel
Awesome video, very clear thank you
I changed passenger side hvac actuator, flushed the radiator still blowing cold air on passenger side.
Maybe do like me-- take it to a shop and pay a $50 diagnostic fee, and then just do it yourselves.
@@mjremy2605 thanks for the comment! I understand where you're coming from about the need for women to develop skills and not only rely on men, but no worries there! I'm definitely not the traditional female. For example, In college, I was the only girl in the welding class! :)) I'm currently remodeling my basement, starting a woodworking business, singing in 4 choirs, am an artist and writer, mom of 5 kids (4 so at home), etc... I could most certainly do car repair so (my son gets his mechanical ability from me), but there's only so much of me to go around! :P so I like to give my sons' and daughters' a chance to learn skills to. My oldest child studies computers and engineering, has the tools to repair the vehicles, and he lightens my load substantially in these things! I'm sure I could do it, but I really just don't have the time! I'm so glad to hear that you are developing skills that once we're notoriously considered male interests!:) God bless you in your endeavors.
Christine
@@mjremy2605 p.s. I think it's SO COOL that the men are asking for your advice and help! 😊 Sending a prayer for your safety and well being. 🙏🏻👩🔧🧰
@@alohachristine Excellent! My kind of modern woman. So many say, 'I asked my husband to do this or that' that it is disappointing. My expertise is in wood refinishing. I strip, sand, glue, sand, oil, sealer coat. Pieces looks so lovely. Saved a lot of antiques. Greetings from California!
@@mjremy2605 Love it! Greetings from a former California girl! 💕☀️🙏🏻🎶⛄🎄... Who now lives in a very mountainous and🥶 place! 😄👩🔧💃🏻
You sound like a woman I'd choose as a friend! It must be the California in us! Take care, Christine
Excellent video, it covers all possibilities of failure, thanks a lot, regards from Monterrey, Mexico.
Anyone who can work on cars is a fkn magician to me
It is addressed in a separate video

@@MakeItEasyMechanic omg. Dude I had no idea anyone responded. Thank you. Sincerely
What if when heat is on it blows antifreeze and stinks??
Heater core
Ya try this on all new. Cost 1000 just to remove the dash Chevy truck
I have a 03 Jeep with no heat. Flushed the heater core, changed coolant (a few times) and still no heat. I’m thinking there’s something wrong with the blend door now. I’ll have to check that out. If not, I’m guessing a new heater core. 😅
Something wrong with the blend door is my guess.
No guessing it is heater core
03 jeeps have copper heater cores, the replacements are alumnuim
dont get alumnuim
Better then anything I have found even on Jeep Forums, jus dont tell the Jeep guys I said that
Dude! Best video on the matter! Helped me heaps! We have heat now thanks to you!
Very good Professor, I learned. Thanks 👍
You are the best! Excellent presentation, graphics, showing car insides, deeply appreciated. Wish I could buy you a tall beer!
I'm female, know nothing about cars, but when mechanic said $400 heater core diagnosis/repair, I came here. Not paying that!
Toyota Yaris 2008, stick shift. Heater blows fine but no heat. I must clean out radiator and overflow tank and do a coolant flush. I have 71K miles on this little car and probably overdue. I have to check everything else you mentioned.
Very very grateful for your excellent video! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😃😃😃
Check fluid level BEFORE changing the thermostat.
" 'ever since' you fixed my brakes, my heater doesn't work anymore " 😆😂😅
A good clear presentation. While it covers basics that is just what I need to brush up on my ancient knowledge. Phil.
Thank you so much for this awesome video! You saved me time & money! My volvo s40 was suddenly not heating while airflow was consistent…i checked the coolant reservoir box and indeed it was below the minimum line. just refilled the coolant to above minimum and the heater works as smooth as last winter! 😅 Again many Thanks! ❤
Thank you so much sir… you are teacher, you should be thinking about having online school. Thank you sir
So what do you do if you hear the water Sound ???? Cause that’s exactly what I got but idk what to do
1. Top off coolant level
2. Try air bleeding (burping) the cooling system
@@MakeItEasyMechanic top off?? What does that mean lol
Fill up to the the top, both radiator and overflow bottle (to FULL mark)
@@MakeItEasyMechanic appreciate you brotha
Thanks a lot for the great video. Very helpful.
Very easy to understand, graphic, practical, with more than one model shown. Looking forward to more videos from this smart educator. Excellent job!
If your heater doesn't work check the coolant level first.
Fantastic video! Thank you
Your video was very helpful and i did find the problem on why the heat wasn't working thanks again !!!
Extremely helpful and straight to point. Imma go check these things after school
