Soy wax 464 how to get a stronger scent

- If you’re like me you’ve been working with the soy wax 464 for a while and not getting the results you wanted.
One simple trick we found is to mix the fragrance oil at a much lower temperature ( 150-160 F ) than typically recommended.
You always hear that mixing the fragrance oil at 185F is the optimal temperature to get the oil and the bond to wax. We’ve noticed the 464 wax takes so long to cool down, that if we add it to hot the fragrance is burning off because the cooling period is much longer than other waxes.
Give that a try and let us know if it works.

If using 464 you can add 1tbsp beeswax per 250g Soy wax and add up to 12% fragrance. I add my soy wax, beeswax, Mica and/or colour block and Fragrance together in same jug, melt on a med high heat, stir occasionally, when full melted pour into wicked vessel. Better HT & CT, no frosting or holes + excellent adhesion to any container
Amazing. I've never heard of this way of making a candle before? You pour everything frozen into a jug and melt it? Is this successful in making the wax (hot trow) smell good afterwards that way? I would appreciate it if you could answer me.
Love, how u say fragrance! Thanks, this really made my smell profile better..I'm starting to be a bee keeper and can't wait to make beeswax candles..I'm sure I will be trying to figure it out again.
I think it’s the wax company in which you buy from I hear yall say about the hot throw on this wax but my wax has no problems hot or cold
Good to have u on here too :) very informative 🕯
Diffently going to try this one
love this
How long can a scented candle stay on the shelf ?
What wick are you using, and what size jar?
What fragrance are you using? Which wicks? Because fragrance and wicks both play a part in the hot throw
What temperature do you pour it at though?
Would these same temps work for making wax melts?
Hello! Thank for this info I’ll definitely try. Quick question, how much should you be pouring ?
If you don’t mind can u tell me where you get your oils from
What do you find the best FO% with 464. I'm keeping my temps as my constant in testing, but I have been all over the place with my FO. What do you advise?
Hmmm.... I’ll try it
Is 464 wax bad or good? I’m new and confused!
What temp are you pouring at?
I’ve noticed too to lower the temp!!!
I’m really struggling with Hi I y’all answer my question.
I’m having issues with how strong the scent throw. I’m using Soywax only, do you have any idea how to make the scent throw to be better ? I’ve tried to add it at 185 F Also add it around 150 F.
I mix it, for two minutes sometimes more. I had 10% of the fragrance, sometimes more. I spent so much money and tried different things and it’s barely smells strong
What temp are you pouring?
im starting my small business and this really helped im trying to get that wax to have more smell so far no luck. do you have to wait 2 weeks for it to be ready?? maybe thats why mine is not working. im having trouble with mine tunneling to.
Same here!! I waited about 4-7days before testing mine and still the scent throw was very very low. 😫
I’ve read to mix palm wax with soy 464 to help with a stronger hot scent throw
@@staysweet_fitness oh wow thank you! I’m going to try that.❤️
Try heating until 160
Adding fragrance at 140
And pouring at 125
Within a week I had a strong HOT THROW.
@@jennifercaceda6817 you use soy 464
Tunneling usually means that the wicks are too small for your jars. Wicks and jar diameters both coincide one with the other.
am i using 444 soy wax for every pound in 1 ounce of scent?
Anyone have someone they can recommend for printing my labels, warning stickers, and business cards? I wonder if it would be cheaper to get my own printer?? Any advice my fellow candle makers??

Hi, are those candles with the gold lid and clear tops from hobby lobby?
They sure are.
This actually works....
Im gonna try. I mix fragrance at 175 and I have no issues but it may work better at 160
The cord laying on the open scissors...nice touch.
Question you said to pour the fragrance at 160, at what temperature do I pour the wax to container???
As soon as you've added the FO.
I pour at 140 to help create the nice smooth top
The website for 464 recommends 130
