    How many of you use 464 soy? What was your experience first trying it?

    Just watching this video. Bringing the wax up to 185 and pouring in the fragrance + 2 minutes of stirring combo has been AMAZING. Thank you for the tips.

    Hi Allen!
    I'm making my own soy candles because I find store bought candles trigger migraines for me. After 5 minutes of having one lit I have to blow it out because the fragrance is so overwhelming.
    If I want to make a candle that is lightly scented, what fragrance load would you recommend? I like to have candles lit for hours for the ambiance. I want it fragrant enough for a subtle scent but not one that slaps you in the face.

    • @earthglow
      @earthglow  Рік тому

      Hi Josie! I’ve tried these wicks with soy but not with coco soy. With soy (Soy-10 specifically) they tend to burn cleanly but very hot.

    i agree with all tips except mixing FO at 185. mixing at a lower temp will not burn off the FO, 10 degrees lower does it perfectly, try it! ps: it still binds to the wax

    • @earthglow
      @earthglow  3 місяці тому

      If it works for you, that’s great! You run the risk, though, that it will not entirely bind and you are more likely to end up with fragrance oil sweating which can cause a flash fire.

      @powerinaturebygod 3 місяці тому

      @@earthglow the wax is still so hot at 10 degrees lower it's shocking, never had problems with sweating since i add a tiny amount of bees wax. xo

    I have a wax melter and it quickly can heat my wax to over 185, of this happens should I turn down the heat and let my wax go back to 185 before pouring to prepare for oil ?

      @@earthglow yes with coconut wax I do find it to be better. I will definitely try your tips. I went from 12% to 10% with 464, but not exactly with the tips you've provided.

    • @earthglow
      @earthglow  2 роки тому +1

      @@prettyofficialbthony I wonder if using 12% might have been part of the problem? 464 can only hold up to 10% fragrance and if you add more than that I believe it can reduce the hot throw. I’ll have to try a coconut wax sometime. Do you have a favorite?

    Can I add coconut oil to 464 soy wax, to help with the hot throw? If I can, what percentage would you recommend?

    • @earthglow
      @earthglow  11 місяців тому

      You could try this but I'd recommend just using 454 wax or some other pre-blended coco-soy that has lots of people talking about it. This can really help with trouble-shooting if there are issues. I do not have a specific percentage to recommend but if it were me, I might start with 5% and go up from there.

    I have followed everything to the T before watching your video and the reason why I’m here is because my CT is SUPER but no TR and I use about 1.5 oz of fragrance oils per a lb of wax and still no HT at all. And the fragrance oils I’m using got great reviews for soy way the 464. Please provide any trouble shooting tipssss! Idk what to do because I had a couple candles and they I tested 2 and absolutely no HT at all. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

    • @earthglow

      Hi!! So i actually stopped using this wax by itself because recently I found it to be very inconsistent from batch to batch, so if you’re doing everything right (heating to 185, stirring for 2 min, wicking properly, waiting 2 weeks to burn), you probably just have a bad batch. Soy in general is very hit or miss with fragrances but 464 is one of the most finicky soy waxes out there. My current favorite soy wax is No 7, also sold as Soy Bliss. So if you are hard set on soy, give this one a try and you may get different results. Best of luck!
