Thanks alot. This was my disaster battle and I didn't came to the idea to send my flyers forward to confuse the first army. I pretty much set up my army the same way as Legend did, but and asI've written in the mail I managed to kill off the first army, but I took alot of damage on my heroes and Karl Franz was taken out by Malekith then. Also I needed so much time to finish off the bloodwrack medusas who damaged my handgunners and artillery that the second army had already covered about half of the distance from entry to my end.
Maybe I try again with the flyer tactic, but my micro isn't so amazing as Legends is.
The campaign itself was a bit strange. Never fought Norsca until a few turns ago. Naggarond overtook the whole from Wintertooth and only left them with two settlemens and then attacked me from there just after I had killed off the second Chaos invasion. This made them probably so weak that the Cult of Pleasure confederated them. The Dwarfs then dragged me into the war with Wintertooth but I already have an army on the way to get rid off them.
EDIT: Just gave it three more shots with the tactic I've learned here. Better result but still my micro isn't good enough to wipe out enought troops before the main thrust of the second army arrives. I also loose too much balance of power to wipe out the army losses on the second army that early.
EDIT2: Damn, Legend has more DLC and now the save won't load. I'll guess I buy the rest then.
There is just something about the empire crushing the elves
Just imagine training for a 100 years in any form of combat just to get destroyed by common men with 6 months of training with Rifles , Gatling guns and Fireworks
Wait till you see empire swerve rats that won't even live for 10 years fill your guts with bullets and warp stone

So about the suicidal AI attack at the end there. The AI only banks on the base stats of your units and any campaign/lord buffs are only considered in the equation once the battle is activated. That's a big reason why in later campaigns you can auto resolve much more because you have lots of campaign/global bonuses from techs/buildings and lots of lord/hero buffs from traits/skills.
That explains why the AI retreats less and less despite you getting more powerful, huh.
Honestly _thank goodness_ they did this... I'd be tired of running around and chasing the AI armies, so having one willingly fight me when I'm not recovering from a battle is very nice.
@@alex_zetsu yeah, if the AI was smart they would turtle up against a mid-to-late game player and everything would slow to a crawl and become kinda garbage.

The mighty Druchii were my first army in tabletop wargaming, still love um. Ok, so some slight personality or social flaws, but who hasn't 🤔
I started with Empire but rapidly changed to Dark Elves. They had the sexiest units and I was a teenager.

Love your tire lists, man. They’ve made the game quite a bit more accessible to me and I feel like I “get” these battle videos quite a bit more.

Hey, I got an idea. How about start reviewing your viewers' trying to save their own disaster battles and maybe you could suggest ways on how to improve?
Legend has done this before. He watched a summited replay that was sent in with a disaster battle and critiqued it. I don't think that video got many views so he hasn't continued to do that.

That battle looked simple but beautiful
I just had a rogue faction conquer some settlements in my empire campaign and attack me with 2 black dragons, a bolt thrower, 3 chaos knights, like 8 chosen (I don’t have any heavy ap magic so,) and lots of archers. Chaos + de is super scary.

I actually see Morathi confederate the Delves like 50% of the time
If you dont interfer then morakthi will confederate malekith when chaos come. It doesnt happen in my campaign because i hate de, and i hate their black ark late game. I always strike when ever possible, atleasr make morakthi weak enough to be confederate by malekith so i dont have to deal with chaos corruption later on

This was an awesome battle xD the setting with the elven ruins in dark weather, all the gunfire and missiles and tanks positioned between destroyed elven buildings, it's almost like a Warhammer 40k RTS battle, or one of those battles from Warhammer 40k: space marine

Did they buff all the "evil" races? I thought it was just in my campaigns that the elves and dwarfs got wiped out but having watched some of legends recent disaster battles it appears to be happening to more than just me. Personally i find it better this way and more enjoyable when you have to rescue the entire world and are sandwiched between a dark and green tide of armies 😁
My last 3-4 campaigns have been consistent in that Dark Elves conquer their lands, the Donut, and usually the top part of Lustria. Every time they just roll right over the High Elves, and in my last game they also wiped Bretonnia. Dwarves it's a toss up but majority they get smashed by Grimgor. Empire vs Vamps is usually a coin toss as well.

Dark Elves have a lot of extra juice in autoresolve right now.
It's a welcome breez of fresh air, I was getting crazy of always crushing the HE or dwarfs at every single late campaign scenario.
Watching this reminded me of what I like best in playing Empire - just having tons of guns and watching the enemy army utterly melt while it's still half the map away. Seeing those hellstorms utterly delete the Dark Elf Infantry was glorious.
I love the Dark Elves favorite faction in the game!
Personally I have always most trouble dealing with Helebron on her wagon against AI. For some reason AI always send Morathi and Malekith on suicide mission before rest of their army arrive.

If I was the gunnery commander, I would put the gunmen on these buildings to have a better defensive firing position. Remember Empire/Napoleon TW where you can do that?

I can do better than this at slow speed. But normal speed, well i'll certainly fu*k up. Those gun position is really good
every time I see hellstorm batteries, I am amazed how awesome they are
They miss alot on moving targets and they have very limited ammo. I think he went with the sure thing and aimed in a blob as opposed to getting in a sideways shot on a moving target. He used the luminark not primarily as a damage dealer but mainly as bait set front in center for the AI to aggro on since it counts for a good amt of BoPower. And the fact it's a large target and won't receive much friendly fire damage from the rocket batteries.
Finally, this battle required a good amt of attention and micro and I suppose the lumimark was low on his priorities.
@@eugene9206 yeah, I get it, but I'd have one or two pot shots while enemy was approaching, just for fun. And we all know, that if luminark will hit, it hits like a truck ;)
@@echoes222 Another thing to consider is the type of damage the Luminark does. If I recall right it does Magical + Fire damage and with Mally being on his Dragon, chances are his Ward Save + Magic + Fire resistance would be pretty good.
Having it fire upon something like the Scourgerunner Charriot though, it'll be able to just delete model after model in the unit...at least that is why I think he did it.

Well, I think they have cool armor. But dark elves are just play things of slaneesh and target practice for their superiors, the shadow walkers of alith anar, the sigma elf that even malekith is afraid of. They are basically just a bunch if toys that think they matter or anyone cares about their cause. but imo malekith doesn't deserve to be the Phoenix king. Even if the others were frauds who had to have help standing in the flames, he is not fit to rule and only cares about his own self interest. So it's naturally a hard faction to like because they have no worth while cause for fighting for. Even if malekith wasn't a child throwing a temper tantrum they would still just want to kill for the sake of killing. To say they fight for any grander cause would be a lie. They only join the fight against chaos out of necessity not out of care for the rest of the world or their elf brethren.
That was some next level micro + time left for commenting.

When I first played the game I was all about being dwarves and then empire… and the Bretonnia and then high elves and now I am in love with dark elves and skaven. Dark elves are a crappy faction for a first play through my recommendation is go dwarf as the rational part of yourself will say let’s make an army primarily composed of melee infantry 😂…. But once you play as dwarves you realize how much everyone else sucks at melee so you learn real fast range in this game is everything (you really only need infantry that can hold the line and not dishing damage).

I never get these points in my campaign because I get so bored. I’m on turn 100 rn VH ikit ME and I have like 55 territories and am making 35k a turn. I have 5 doom stacks and am currently steamrolling the vampire counts. Is it worth continuing? I’m strength rank #6. I’ve taken out bretonnia and the empire already. The major factions I have not warred with yet are the dwarves with around 25 settlements, high elves, around 30, Delves around 35, khemri around 30, Norsca around 15, lizardmen around 25. I’m friends with Khemri and norsca. Is it even worth continuing to see if I can fight big late game battles with the new world races + dwarves ? Frankly, is it even worth it? I hate having to level up like 20 heroes every turn and moving around so much crap. Seems I’m just autoresolving most battles and only pausing to conquer to gain more food.

@@skleem4871 yes, I'm noticing that putting my skirmishers behind my front line is useful for, indeed, double firepower, however, I do see some friendly fire which makes my chuckle more than it upsets me

Forgive me for saying so, but I find it odd that you have no problems with cheesing a battle like a Limburger Factory but you seem to be allergic to the PAUSE button!

you can't give commands whilst paused on legendary. Also I don't need it.
Is there a fire rate bug with hell-storm rocket batteries? In my empire campaign I couldn't get them to perform like this.
How do you tell if heroes are immortal without looking at the skill tree?
think it's a guess based on how leveled up the are. high level = good chance they've picked up the immortal skill.

Dark is waaaay better late game than Empire. This is a trash AI army being controlled by a very dumb AI. I doubt Legend would of won this if it was player controlled.
@@MrFartquad DE has not good units in the late game. If this was high elf or lizardmen on the other side, you will be doomed
@@gustafmannerheim9720 shades and hydras are really good. Dragons are really good, hero spam for dark elves is insanely good, shit dark elf chariots are super powerful. The AI is too dumb in this game and honestly every race is viable late game.
@@MrFartquad they are at most meh level, nowhere near as good as other doomstacks you can build as other races. Shades don't have enough ammo and are squishy in melee. Hydras are too slow and too big. Black dragons way weaker than high elf dragons. The heroes are squishy. What's worst is they don't have life magic, which make their sigle entities 60% weaker than those who have. If the dumb AI has a pheonix or dino spam, you couldn't handle that.
@@gustafmannerheim9720 I never really doomstack. Doomstacking is so brain dead. I usually make themed armies and I've never had a problem playing the game. I hope game 3 has systems to promote more varied armies
