Yeah, but all eleven other time points are also 'talk about elves'. Well, except for the one that says 'Pontificate about how Great and Mighty the Great and Mighty Karl Franz is and how he's so much Greater than that other emperor' in really small handwriting.
Malekith, the dark, malevolent, twisted, Son of Aenarion, sunderer of Ulthuan, murderer of thousands, Witch King, true inheritor of Aenarion (this is false it is Tyrion, Heir of Aenarion) said it best when he spoke from the highest peaks of the Land of Chill when he said “I hate snow.”
@@jakandaxter1 yup. Alarielle (sp?) basically told Malekith, “bungee gum has both properties of glue/bungee and gum”…. Jk. Seriously, though, she did advise Malekith that he needed to go back and let the fires burn him until it no longer hurt, or something like that. TLDR: he did and became the phoenix king for the remainder of the End Times.
I genuinely hate the fact that Grombrindal somewhat forgave Malekith. Of all the grudges that could be forgiven, that could make such a monumental event feel earned, they picked quite possibly the single most justified grudge in the entire setting's history. It was a personal betrayal that went so far as to cause literal millennia of suffering for two civilizations, and created a permanent rift between them where they had once been friends. You know what would have been great? With the crisis of the End Times at their doors, a Dawi of importance (Grombrindal, Thorgrim, etc.) meets with a similarly important Asur like Alarielle or Finubar. The council is tense to begin with, but in a shocking twist both sides had come willing to swallow their pride and ask for an alliance to stave off the threat. When this comes to light, the Dawi is moved by the gesture, and makes the monumental proclamation that the great grudge of The War of Vengeance has finally been settled. Once more, Dawi and Asur shall take up arms alongside one another to drive back the darkness that threatens their world. But instead we got "you haven't changed at all, and might even be worse than you were to begin with, but it's cool homie".
Yeah the End Times fluff was...well, mostly terrible. Age of Sigmar has managed to really come a long way but it had inauspicious beginnings. If you can treat it as its own beast, born from the corpse of the old Warhammer Fantasy, its rather neat. Like fishing half devoured elven souls out of Slaanesh to create basically Fomorians with a bit of Little Mermaid...or Atlanteans, I suppose.
It's worth noting the the grudges for the war of vegengence was already counted as crossed out, with the taking of rhe high elves king's crown, what should have happened is the dwarfs sat down the crown And traded the elves an alliance in exchange for thr crown, and some long lost dwarf treasure ideally something like the helmet of the slain dwarf prince that caused his father to go ham on the elf king at the time, though idk the lore of what happened to the princes body so it may make no sense to have his helmet stolen, or it may make perfect sense
The best part from Malekith from the End Times. He's in Middenheim, crushed under the body of his dead dragon as the world is ending. The happy memory of being taught to ride a horse by his father surfaces and in a crushing moment of ego collapse he comes to terms with the fact his entire life was pretty shit. And then he mega died with the rest of reality.
@ReverendLeRoux As he marxh down south to the Uthuwn, he won't rest until Tyrion and Teclis are his slave. For he hate them oh so much. Yours General Malekith Lee
@jonathanwatson4484 Gav Thorpe's The Sundering novels handled Malekith perfectly and gave a really good perspective on how his nature was, which is why most people who read them weren't surprised when he became Eternity King.
@@andrewamann2821 Ogres the guys in the warhammer world who did nothing of any historical importance. Sure. The Lizardmen honor the High Elves for a reason & so did the Old Ones. I could never play a race that's been useless aside from eating things but that's me.
"Elf darth vader" -Huh how is that? *A honored and valiant hero prone to aggresion yet kind and compasionate with plenty of feats now corrupted into a dark armored monster who slays and governs his dark empire whose armour constantly inflicts pain upon him* Ohhhh, he really is elf darth vader
According to the Malus Darkblade books, incest is apparently really common in Dark elf nobility. So no surprise that Malekith is basically Oedipus without the remorse.
4:58 The adventures of alternate Warhammer Fantasy reality *Lady Maleki, elven princess of nagarythe* as she traveled with *Grombrindal,* her dear companion, king of the dwarves.
I like to think Malekith would have been accepted into the fire, but the whole coup/slaanesh-cult-stuff caused him to be rejected not having a moment’s hesitation. If they wanted him to be Phoenix King, they probably should’ve focused on making him worthy again. Maybe have Morathi be fed up with the remaining bits of noblility in her son and use her magic to extract that from his body and soul to create a frail noble elf named Malerion. Not sure how well that actually would have worked but that’s just my suggestion…
Cheap as it would be, they could have done that. Give him an actual redemption arc (that Majorkill guy ha a whole video on the concept in his End Times series). Instead of Asuryan being stupid and evil because he would have actually *accepted* the Slaanesh-conspiring guy who just murdered the last king and apparently didn't approve of Bel Shanaar because question mark. The only reason I can think of it for why it *would* have accepted him at the time is blood trumps logic.
He was been accepted to the fire, but he pussied out. For some reason High Elves see a title like Phoenix King and don't understand they have to die first tombe reborn.
@leonardomarquesbellini They are neither of those things, they let Morathi shape their culture due to her being the elf that ruled them for lomger since Malekith was known to leave Naggarythe for extended periods, but it is very clear several times that if he hadn't been robbed from what was his birthright, the Druchii would be very different to what they are now. In fact you can see glimpses of it already in Age of Sigmar where they have been consistently one of the good guys through all the wars against Chaos, except again Morathi's faction because she is still a spiteful bitch.
Slight correction, they aren't immortal unless slain in battle. They die once they no longer have a purpose, like Tyrion's dad began to wither away once he finished fixing the armor of Aenarion.
@@SMT-ks8yp Also it’s worth noting that the physical frailty is one of the curses associated with the Line of Anarion, so it could be that Tyrion and Techlis’ dad got the Techlis end of the stick.
Elves are actually said to have thousand year lifespans. They *do* die of old age and any who don't have some kind of magic bullshit keeping them alive or are Alith Anar. However most elves never live to old age due to endless war.
@@SMT-ks8yp I checked it. Asur, Druchii and Asrai are all capable of living for several thousand years, Druchii are more long lived generally (provided they are strong enough to survive their society) because their exposure to fell magics elongates their lifespan. They can die of natural causes, although rarely do so. Most elves are slain in battle, because of their long lives and their many enemies, it's only a matter of time before they're killed in war.
Here’s my own idea on how to make Malekith becoming the Phoenix King better. So when Malekith steps into the The Flame of Asuryan, it burns him, like it did last time. However, instead of throwing himself out of the fire, he simply stands in the flame and basically starts getting burned alive. Motionless and voiceless, Malekith absorbs the punishment of the flame. The God’s then realize that while Malekith is technically not the chosen ruler of Ulthan, he’s the only Elf with the strength of will to stop the Chaos invasion. He’s so dedicated to saving the Elves, even if it’s for selfish reasons, that he is willing to be burned alive by the Gods, just for the small chance it will save his people. So they decide to grant him the powers of the Phoenix King, even if none of them actually want him to become the Phoenix King. And boom. Malekith becomes Phoenix King while still technically not being the chosen of the God’s.
It would be great he has a vision of his father or the elven gods and basically say "Look... you are the last choice we would take, personally I had my money own one of those twins, but tyrion is basically gone mad and thinks killing his people would be cool, and teclis was the one who made this mess worse... we give you power due to you bieng a millitery leader who isn't ironically goes mad with power, BUT IT STILL DOESN'T MAKE US FORGIVE YOU," Maliketh: "that cool... bieng king to a group of murderers wasn't fun well it was fun but danm they are real idiots most of the time"
I like to think of it as initially he was supposed to have been Phoenix King but tainted himself through his actions and thus was punished for falling rather than oh he just didn’t cook enough and wimped out of it. Like a fallen child that was then deemed unfit.
Honestly I feel like there's a Noblebright version of this where the flames act like the fire of Sheol in Judaism, and it burns away all of Malekith's bad characteristics, so he comes out a good guy
Malekith is an amazing character in my opinion and he is honestly one of my favorite takes on the classic Dark Lord archetype. "Malekith was given to shifts of mood and formality. Sometimes he wished to be treated as if he were a barbarian potentate, at others with the formal courtesy of an elven lord. There were times when he played the simple warlord that he thought his father had been. There were times when he oversaw revels that would have put Morathi to shame, indulging vices by proxy that he could not any other way. Today he looked like he was the warlord." - Bane of Malekith by William King
@@mojus2890 To be honest I'm surprised Malekith hadn't fathered any children and or adopted kids in the ten thousand some years he's been kicking. Probably feared his own mother Morathi would've tried to corrupt them and turn them against him some day. (very plausible for the old w*tch) Funny enough he'd probably make the least messed up "dark elf" parent in history since he doesn't really jive with much of mainstream druchii society which is largely based around those fucked up Slaaneshi-esque cults. He the witch-king Malekith, would attempt to teach and try to instill some of those lingering nobler qualities still within himself into his would be children, things he or atleast some small, buried part of himself long yearns for again even after all these many, MANY mellinium.
It really is no surprise that Malekith is so very messed up as a person, all things considered. His mother was Morathi, which pretty much speaks for itself even without the... lets just say 'Game of Thrones adjacent' stuff, and his father was Aenarion, the almost Shakespearean levels of tragic elf hero and king who took up Khaine's very own insanity inducing, god killing sword, promptly went off his nut, fought against nightmare daemon hordes, and left behind a cursed blood line that effects all his descendants, but arguably effects Malekith the most (Tyrion might disagree). The guy really never stood a chance of being anything but a Warhammer Fantasy supervillain.
I have become dangerously addicted to your videos. Literally could hear you talk about whatever, but really can’t wait for the total war videos (been addicted to it since immortal empires).
While imprisoned in an Elf lady's body by Malekith, N'kari tried reading Malekith's mind continuously, but found it incredibly difficult. What N'kari did see, however; that Malekith was basically unlike any other Elf. Not given to vanity, arrogance, boasting, pride, or petty emotions. Instead N'kari saw something that terrified him/her. Malekith was stone cold, completely disciplined, and possessed of a calculating cunning, far beyond any notions of self-aggrandizing pride or entitlement. That is Malekith in essence. He is the most unique Elf in Warhammer, mainly because he is so far removed from the shortcomings of other Elves. He is driven, stoic, and pragmatic. His will is so strong even the greatest Keeper of Secrets could not read his mind. So yes. He is basically peak Darth Vader. But not wholly evil. To call Malekith "evil" is like claiming unbending cold iron is evil because it does not give way for you. It simply is iron. He does not care about pleasure. Titles. Wealth. He simply and utterly is devoted to his goals. Rule.
Uh, what? Malekith isn't iron, he's a person. Iron doesn't get to choose. Malekith does, and the fact he willingly engages in slavery and murder because he wants to rule makes him evil, regardless of how poetic and grand you try to make him sound. EDIT: Fixed typo.
Darth vader is less evil then Mal, when the emperor wanted to legalize slavery vader spoke against it, vader is quite cold and efficent, however he wants not to rule, merely more power he has, even off the topic of slavery, when it comes to general sadism vader wouldn't let that level of bad happen, because it's a waste of slaves and resources.
Malekith is evil to his very core. Not every villainous origin is, or should be, a fall from grace. Some people are just entitled enough to believe that they're owed the world, and see no problem with trampling over anybody they have to in order to get what's 'theirs'. I like Malekith, but I like him not for what he could have been, but for what he is; brutal, uncompromising strength, out to claim the throne by right of main force, without pretense or prevarication. The draw of Malekith is the same draw as Darth Vader; not the story of Anakin Skywalker, but the brute presence of Vader himself in the original trilogy, where the weight and power of him has to be taken at face value. The similarities of Vader and Malekith apart from their life support armor begin and end there. There was good in Vader and he redeemed himself in the end, Malekith has no good to begin with nor does he desire redemption. At heart, Malekith is not a complicated character. He has complex schemes sometimes, but the man himself is refreshingly simple; he's a warrior prince who believes he deserves to rule by right of birth and talent, and whose monstrous ego is so unbound that he won't stop for anything. He doesn't need any inciting incident, a corrupting artifact or a dramatic change of heart. All he needs is to be who he is. A man who'll tear the world asunder to get his way, this is who he always was before the fire. He hasn't changed a bit.
Something I never see brought up: Malekith isn't Aenarion's heir, being the youngest of 3 children. I'm not even sure why the Asur kept the Phoenix King role, seeing as how the Everqueen had ruled alone before the invasion of Chaos and Yvraine was Aenarion's daughter in a culture that doesn't discriminate against daughters, with her brother abdicating.
The Everqueen can't be the Phoenix King, therefore it would go to either of Aenarion's sons, basically the one Asuryan's chose, which is, canonically, Malekith, since Morelion is kinda dead by the time Malekith massacred the traitor princes and stepped in the flame. As for why they kept the Phoenix King's position, it was because the Vortex that Caledor Dragontamer created was never supposed to be a permanent solution and they didn't know when it was going to collapse again.
@@eddymercan7487 to be perfectly honest. Malekith have to be the next king without retcons. Because Ulthuani kingdoms electoral system didn't make sence (electoral monarchies happening when the last king died without heir or male heir if it's more gender specific to avoid civil war). In empires case it did because Sigmar didn't have an heir so the electors must choose another one. In Ulthuans case Aenerion have 2 sons Morelion and Malekith. Morelion is MIA and didn't claim the throne which means crown goes to the younger son which is Malekith. And in his case because his half-sister is next Everqueen for him it will be an exception from tradition so for Everqueen to have a daughter must marry with local noble instead of Phoenix King. I don't understand why he didn't inherit the throne when his older brother is missing and didn't care for the throne which means the only heir is him.
@@Warmaster2001 they had the election for Aenarion's successor before Morelion disappeared, and unless uncles inherit before sons Morelion's children might also have inherited before Malekith, ASSUMING the Phoenix King was the kind of title you could inherit in the first place and that he did in fact have sons. The fact that they went with the election in the first place is in itself evidence that most of Ulthuan (or the nobles ruling it anyway) didn't consider it part of Malekith's inheritance, just princehood of Nagarythe. At any rate Ulhtuan's electoral monarch is weird for a couple of reasons, not least is the fact that there's definitely a theocratic/mandate of heaven bent to it with the Phoenix King being literally chosen and blessed by the head of the Asur pantheon.
@@eddymercan7487 yes their system is weirder and for me making it nonsensical. I don't know is it hard to just stick with classic hereditary monarchy?. It's easier and the question of leadership is clear and concrete. Plus the risk of civil war will be minimal. Ok I am joking about the latter if theoretically Ulthuani monarchy is hereditary and Malek inheriting the throne civil war will happen against Pleasure Cults of Morathi.
Aenarion was the avatar of Asuryan & when he pulled the sword of Khaela Mensha Khaine he was literally the embodiment of Khaine as well. He is/was an Elven God & way greater than Pigmar- Aenarion slew 4 Greater daemons 1 after another & defeated them all with the help of Indraugnir father of Dragons.
A couple things I want to amend about Malerion, he is actually “formless” and changes forms to whatever he wants, the image is just one of his forms, also when he took the souls from Slannesh, he purposely choose the corrupted ones for the most part, so Umbraneth (that’s shadow elves in AoS, their army is coming, I’m going to say in 4th edition) are mostly dragon kin and shadow demons in the lore, not just “dark Lumineth”
I really hope they are the mostly monsterouse like more then the DEK and FEC, or armour posses by shadows.... honestly I hope when his army is release every god goes (even chaos gods) go "WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!!" the fact he chose the very worst and considering the idonieth curse as well the daughters of khaine appearance curse should give us hints to what going to happen
@@jonathanwatson4484 I kinda like that he chose the worst, it speaks of well of him that he accepts his responsibility for twisting them to be like that in the first place. So as a god, he recognises that there won't be any other to take care of them.
@@morelstrike I feel like there be some good storys he would have with teclis when disscuissing on the purpose of elven souls and on teclis idea of perfection, as well teclis defence bieng "you twist elven souls into monsters" and the shadow king just say "yet you willing to cull your own children when they fell due to your abandoment"
i often wondered why they didn't add more mages to help with the vortex ritual over time. or tell the schools of magic of the empire, or the dwarves about the importance of the waystones. no matter what their antipathy, chaos was always the biggest enemy, they often cooperated over that .
While Malekith (Malerion) is absent most of the time in AOS so far there is a favorite story about him The Legend of the Umbral Veil Religious art in the Mortal Realms holds a special place in the hearts of many. In Brightspear, Lady Solania Gravewing frequently bids sculptors compete to design statues of Sigmar for the ever expanding New City. A similar - albeit more disorderly - system exists among the Gloomspite, with fierce battles erupting between tribes over whose Loonshrine is the largest. No contest, however, was as famous - or as ill-fated - as the Praemium Aurelia. Sponsored by a coterie of anonymous nobles, the Praemium challenged artists across Aqshy to depict a single portrait, with the goal being not simply to depict the subject’s appearance, but their very soul. The competition was fierce. Artists worked for months in secret. When the pieces were unveiled, it was said that the judges wept to see such beauty. Each was greater than the last, paying homage to loved ones, incredible landscapes, and of course, the gods themselves. However, one portrait in particular caused much consternation. A jet-black canvas in a simple silver frame, unmarked by a signature, as if the unknown artist did not wish to mar the pure darkness of their work. Its title was simple: Malerion. What happened next had to be reconstructed from survivors’ accounts. Half-mad servants spoke of a tide of ink pouring through the silver frame, as if from an endless, shadowy sea. Spindly figures with knife-sharp fingers capered through the chamber, the only sounds were the tearing of canvas and the rushing, hushing dark. When the darkness withdrew, the judges were gone, and every eye in every portrait had been neatly cut out.
Malrion is the age of sigmar version of the yellow king, what was the title of that story since I love to read it, if it fan fiction then great work I LOVE IT SO MUCH also he might of did that since he probably belive they go down worshipping slaanash and he hates slaanash probably due to his love (his wife) bieng consumed. Also if you don't who the yellow king, he is an entity of unmeasured horror who the mere sight or exposure can drive one insane, there something called a play which is the king in yellow, an story of decadence that soon goes off the rails making everyone acting it or watching it go mad, rumors abound of what the king goal is all is known there is a city were we know he dwells

ok but like, the reincarnation of snorri turning up, saving one of the most evil people in warhammer fantasy and then forgiving him for breaking his oath, that made me feel weirdly emotional cause that just, that don't just happen.
Malekith could make Grombrindal forgive him if he took the Slayer Oath. I know it's only a Dwarf thing, but that would have made the end times more sensible.

6:20 I believe most elves of any variety usally clock out around 2,000 or 3,000 years of age, probably less so for less magically gifted members of their kind *or those literally too angry to die* but yeah it's utterly baffling how a demonic based pleasure-cult, especially one dedicated to Slaanesh of all creatures was able to become so powerful and influential when most elves alive at the time were alive and had desperately fought of near endless demonic hordes just a 1,000 years prior which is basically nothing to most elves. It would have made WAAAAAY more sense if it had been atleast 6,000 or 7,000 years after the first great Chaos incursion was thwarted by the Vortex, heck I'd probably make the events leading up to elven civil war happen about 10,000 or even 15,000 years after the key fact. That way there'd practically be NO living elf left that was there during the great Chaos incursion and had experienced the horrors of that event first hand...save for a scant few stubborn elves that refused to move one, the most fanatical of Anerion's followers and OG elf warriors who are utterly powerless to stop many young elves from succumbing to the temptations of the very monsters they had fought against, basically have most elves several generations removed from those bad, BAD memories. I would also change Malekith's story and instead of him being Anerion's son, he'd be his distant descendant, from a less prestigious branch of his family's lauded bloodline but he would through both his own hard work and the sneaky manoeuvring of his mother (no longer Anerion's lover but still a scheming witch), Morathi and her personal magical leasons (and more than a few assassinations on her son's behalf..) would see the young elf warrior rise to prominence and command great respect from many of his fellow elves, even gaining the respect of the still few remaining old, OLD elves who would see him as a shining beacon of hope for future generations of elves, even favorably comparing him to his long dead ancestor, their old general Anerion. Basically that would fix alot of issues with the timeline and believability of the whole story. Most of elven society by the time this version of Malekith is born are themselves far removed from the globe shacking war that Anerion and some of the surving ancient elves would remember vividly. Morathi herself would start up the cult of pleasure among very bored elven youths that haven't even reached 500 years of age, steadily moving up the racks until even some really old elves, grandkids or great grandkids of those that fought in the great Chaos incursion become swayed if only barely. Malekith here being the great, great, great grandson of Anerion, who he desperately wants to emulate his ancestor's might and valor even before he could properly speak as a little elf toddler he was swinging around his play swords provided by his nice nanny who nurtured and encouraged the small boy, acting more like a loving and supportive mother than Morathi ever did. (hey, Warhammer could use more wholesome things in general!)
Grombingdal forgiving Malekith is the most Bs plot point in the history of bs plot points and only elves simps could think otherwise. Why? Snorri made Malekith swear an oath, a most sacred one, on his own death bed, to do all he could to preserve the friendship between their people forever. Malekith utterly destroy this oath, working against it on purpose! Such an outrageous and dishonorable act that Snorri come back to life as Grombingdal, the White Dwarf, the embodiment of vengeance! Now, Malekith never does ANYTHING to earn forgiveness from a dwarf point of view. He doesn't save dwarfs, he doesn't rescue some all important holds, he doesn't fight and sacrifice anything to help the dwarfs AT ALL. He doesn't redeem himself in any way, shape or form, so all of the horrible acts he committed against dwarf kind are never repented or atone for... and Snorri forgive him. He *fucking forgive him.* the incarnation of vengeance, the dwarf who came back to right the most heinous of wrong, a ancestral ghost of a race so callous that they don't have *words* that translate directly to forgiveness, but only many words to indicate different kinds of come back... forgive him, out of the *fucking blue and the power of fucking friendship.* Say whatever the fuck you want, the dwarfs were the most mistreated in the end times, both the normal and the chaotic ones.
My headcanon is if the setting continued Grombrindal just wanted to keep Malekith alive so that he may kill him and satisfy the grudge, there's a bunch of intense encounters and battles between them, and any effort to actually achieve forgiveness would be up to Malekith and actually be earned, assuming it's even possible. The world almost ending (and possibly being threatened again) along with something like Malekith's offer to take the Slayer Oath for his shame and have Grombrindal witness it seem like the only two things that could make that even remotely likely 😅
Totally agree I wish that Grombrindal had instead of forgiving Malekith he had fought beside Tyrion and been like hu. This elf is honorable this one might help ease that grudge. And have Tyrion do something heroic and self sacrificing maybe have him fight back to back with Thorgrim Grudgebearer and the two of them keep saving each other's asses as they fight. And Grombrindal sees this and that what allows the White Dwarf to finally rest seeing elves and dwarves once again as allies defending each other against the greatest evil in their world.
18:46 Grimgor Ironhide did this in the "Storm of Chaos" time line. The reason for this was that competitive play results were supposed to dictate the outcome of the story and back then Chaos Warriors apparently had a rough time in tournaments and thus Archeon couldn't win.
Don't forget that Alith Anar, the last of the line Anar who ruled Nagarythe and were all killed except him for opposing the newly formed Druchii and is still alive purely out of hate and spite for Malakith and all Druchii, forgave Malakith. Forgave him! It is impossible to over state how much Alith pours his essence into hating and killing Druchii. They told boogie man stories about him and his followers. He scared the Druchii shitless. How scary is a dude who can scare the Druchii? He forgave Malakith in the end times and walked away and was never seen again. Gone. Poof. Unimportant. I blame the overwhelming number of problems in the old world on Morathi. She is the root for so many of the messed up problems in the world that I would think that she could be a honorary chaos god.
As grombrindal aproached the son of anerion... something was off. As he remembered malekith was a good man,if a bit darker. Hes changed for the worst. In smoldering and weary armor "Malekith." The ancient dark elf turned around. Noticing a friend once dead. "Grombrindal...?" "What in the gods name have you done damm you!?" Demanded grombrindal. The fury of malekith began to seethe...kill him...destroy and mangle him...but he held himself back. "...if you still care for me at all, stay the hell away from me." Malekith spoke with barely held anger. "Damm it answer my question! What was all of this, what was worth This!?" "I...i...-" malekith spoke hesitantly. "My motives are beyond you,my once friend...i chose my path. And i will die upon it." Grombrindal saw malekiths voice partialy snap. For all hes done...a sliver of the elf that was once the greatest among them shone. "...you look tired." "No...broken." Grombrindals mind raced...end the grudge. Kill the betrayer! HONOR YOUR ANCESTORS! But these thoughts were held to another...dim. but it was there. "What happened to you malekith. Why...why are you like...this?" "...i am dammed grombrindal...end it now...please." "Not before you give me answers. Not before i pass on again. And so help me...for once in your fucking life, and mind you this is rich coming from me...but let it out." "..." As the shade of a friend long dead and the husk of what once was talked briefly...in the midst of the gods laughters... something would begin... To be continued...
18:27 i am just imagining the rest holding slaanesh down and malekith just wailing on slaanesh's midsection forcing them to basically vomit up elven souls

I'm excited to see what they ultimately end up doing with Malikath in AoS. Feels like there they are setting him up to be the "morally complex, but still a force for order" that they wanted him to be in Warhammer Fantasy. Instead of what he actually is in Fantasy which is mostly just a total psychopath.
Ok the Snorri Whitebread moment is actually so perfect. While the end tomes aren't great, that truly has too be one of the best and most impactful plot points in a end game scenario

Personally I do like the idea of Malekith becoming the phoenix king, but it could’ve been done a lot better. Like I think it would’ve been better if Malekith forcibly took the power of the phoenix king from the elven gods. It would help show him as a badass and still be in line with his lore.
That's Malekith for you: love him or hate him, dude's got more character depth on his bad days than Nagash on his good days (you know you're a bastard when the jackass responsible for just as much shit is disgusted by you as a person), and with none of that BS plot armor that ensured that Archaon's only in-universe defeat consists of getting kicked in the balls by an Orc.
My idea of malekith end times Malekith:... Other high elves:... Malekith:look i hate the concept as much as the next person but id rather change and become a somewhat decent person and actually do something over fucking you over at every possible opertunity. A lot of the nonsensical things Malekith does can be explained by Hubris. He does not believe himself inferior to anyone, even the gods. Hence his confidence in walking into the flames.
I just made a custom high elf fire mage to be his wife (the original one) so they're a power couple. Better Alliance mod is how I got her after a ton of draws to get “protected” and that sweet 800 barrier
I know, I know it's an unpopular opinion but I kinda like what they did with him in the End Times. I see what they were trying to do, the return of the rightful king to save the world of elf dwarf and man despite his bitterness, but.. they were restrained within the actual lore for Malekith and couldn't get the story all the way there
It was dumb. They had to either force a slaving, murdering, back stabbing, treacherous cunt to be accepted by the people he had slaved, murdered, and back stabbed, or just ignore everything else they had ever done with the character in order to force the ending they wanted. End Times was Disney Star Wars before Disney Star Wars.
I think the idea could have worked if they made it clear it wasn't that he was always destined for it, but rather they made it something he worked to be redeemed for.
@@ashutoshtripathi. nah, the idea is pretty bad too, Malekith could barely control the dark elves that supposedly live and breathe for his glory, there's not a chance in a million the other elves that actively despise him would follow the guy, specially after it being made clear you can still be crowned even after murdering the rightful king. The moment Malekith took the PK every single elf around would turn on him.
Funny thing, the first total war warhammer campaign I ever played was eye of the vortex in Warhammer 2, and did it as the Dark elves as Malekieth. He also was the first lord I ever finished the game as. Ever since Immortal empires dropped I have been trying to bring myself to go all in on a Dark Elf campaign, but have struggled to. I just found that the DE had a lot of hard starting positions that I struggled to handle (note that I am not great at the game, aka: I suck at it). I hope to maybe do a full long victory immortal empires campaign as the DE someday, but for now that seems to be a bit far fetched. Regardless, thanks for the amazing video.
I'm still watching the video but I'm still absolutely livid the James Workshop has cock teased Malekith coming back as the god of shadows with his own faction FOR SO LONG AAHH! PLEASE JAMES! JUST MAKE THE FACTION AND TAKE MY MONEY!
Seriously, give me my spooky shadow prince GW, he keeps showing up in everyone else's stories! Maybe have him be a foil for Be'Lakor since he just got a glow up and could be muscling in on Maliketherion's turf, Emo shadow demon vs Goth Shadow demon
Dark elves: Literally immortal edgy sparta And I love them for it, their aesthetic be drippin Edit: Also in AoS I'm really hoping that when they introduce malekiths shadow elves(which I am very excited for) they make him and belakor fight for who gets to have the realm of shadow
I think Malekith will have not 1 but 2 competitors for that. Because you know there is a certain someone doing gurrelia warfare in Naggaroth calls himself Shadow King and can snipe with his bow everyone.
My favorite guy to play as. A pretty swell guy. He got cheated out of his inheritance by some chicken-shit nobles but he never gave up and after a couple thousand years of trying he finally won everything he was owed back and he managed to make friends with all of his former enemies. Considering that's Warhammer, Malekith done near impossible.
Malekith did had a wife though, the sister of Ariel (yes, the Wood Elf Galadriel) but some scheming bitch has decided to take care of her before she could come and calm Malekith down. She paid for this of course, but screwed up the Wood Elves as well for a couple of centuries...
And that bitch is name is Morathi. I am sure if Malekith retakes his throne he will just start Stalin type of purging of Druchii from Slaanesh cultists including killing Morathi. But I think judging how Malekith is traumatized he can do some ironic karma for his mother. Just throw her into Sigvalds clutches. It will be absolute irony.
I kinda like that because it makes the dawi seem like they are bigger than that and are trying to do better for everyone.
It's the end times, shouldnt expect much from them

Did they just lift that memory wholesale from Deep Space 9?

Like the 40k noble shard of Magnus plot line?
Please no, Dark Elves aren't supposed to be the "good, but misunderstood" guys, they're depravity incarnate.
He was been accepted to the fire, but he pussied out. For some reason High Elves see a title like Phoenix King and don't understand they have to die first tombe reborn.
@leonardomarquesbellini They are neither of those things, they let
Morathi shape their culture due to her being the elf that ruled them for lomger since Malekith was known to leave Naggarythe for extended periods, but it is very clear several times that if he hadn't been robbed from what was his birthright, the Druchii would be very different to what they are now.
Source? If I remember correctly the first Tyrion book, his dad was bad even while being nowhere near to fixing the armor.
It would be great he has a vision of his father or the elven gods and basically say "Look... you are the last choice we would take, personally I had my money own one of those twins, but tyrion is basically gone mad and thinks killing his people would be cool, and teclis was the one who made this mess worse... we give you power due to you bieng a millitery leader who isn't ironically goes mad with power, BUT IT STILL DOESN'T MAKE US FORGIVE YOU,"
Maliketh: "that cool... bieng king to a group of murderers wasn't fun well it was fun but danm they are real idiots most of the time"
I like to think of it as initially he was supposed to have been Phoenix King but tainted himself through his actions and thus was punished for falling rather than oh he just didn’t cook enough and wimped out of it. Like a fallen child that was then deemed unfit.
The only thing you've changed is that you robbed him of being the
Chosen of Asuryan for no reason.
It's basically a display of "We don't like you, but we respect the iron nuts you got."
Today he looked like he was the warlord."

To be honest I'm surprised Malekith hadn't fathered any children and or adopted kids in the ten thousand some years he's been kicking.
Legend has it that if you watch all his videos in a single day he’ll steal your pancreas.
Rule.
Too bad GW injected the "power of friendship" into him...
I do call that evil.
“I will not rest until everyone loves elves as much as I do.”
Your crusade is eternal
Something I never see brought up: Malekith isn't Aenarion's heir, being the youngest of 3 children. I'm not even sure why the Asur kept the Phoenix King role, seeing as how the Everqueen had ruled alone before the invasion of Chaos and Yvraine was Aenarion's daughter in a culture that doesn't discriminate against daughters, with her brother abdicating.
The Everqueen can't be the
Phoenix King, therefore it would go to either of Aenarion's sons, basically the one Asuryan's chose, which is, canonically, Malekith, since Morelion is kinda dead by the time Malekith massacred the traitor princes and stepped in the flame.
As for why they kept the Phoenix King's position, it was because the Vortex that Caledor Dragontamer created was never supposed to be a permanent solution and they didn't know when it was going to collapse again.
@@TheBayzent I'm referring to the election of Bel-Shanaar, not the retcon about Malekith being the chosen one all along

While Malekith (Malerion) is absent most of the time in AOS so far there is a favorite story about him
The Legend of the Umbral Veil
Religious art in the Mortal Realms holds a special place in the hearts of many.
Soo much edge

Also if you don't who the yellow king, he is an entity of unmeasured horror who the mere sight or exposure can drive one insane, there something called a play which is the king in yellow, an story of decadence that soon goes off the rails making everyone acting it or watching it go mad, rumors abound of what the king goal is all is known there is a city were we know he dwells
@@jonathanwatson4484 The story is feature in the Artifacts of Power supplement from the Soulbound (Age of sigmar RPG)
the supplement feature various artifacts such as the Umbral veil, A skull of a God kajui bear, an indestructible lion pelt like Hercules, a shield made from the scale of Vulkatrix ect. ect.
it also explains all the Realmstones (the different warpstone variants) and their applications
@@michaelsantamaria5295 huh cool, I am kinda a huge fan of maliron and the realm ulgu since I find it premise of living shadows as well having this realm of living nightmares still it kinda excite me to wonder what outher tricks the shadow king has.
Holy shit, dude is responsible for 90% of Warhammer Fantasy's problems AND Age of Sigmar.
I started watching your vids like a week ago because you popped up randomly after one of majorkill's videos and honestly I don't regret it, you've got some pretty fun content my dude
ok but like, the reincarnation of snorri turning up, saving one of the most evil people in warhammer fantasy and then forgiving him for breaking his oath, that made me feel weirdly emotional cause that just, that don't just happen.
Malekith could make Grombrindal forgive him if he took the Slayer Oath. I know it's only a Dwarf thing, but that would have made the end times more sensible.
Morathi are you winning son
malekith mostly burned to near death
yes mom
Seeing that you uploaded a video made my day I am addicted plz more!!!!!!

He *fucking forgive him.* the incarnation of vengeance, the dwarf who came back to right the most heinous of wrong, a ancestral ghost of a race so callous that they don't have *words* that translate directly to forgiveness, but only many words to indicate different kinds of come back... forgive him, out of the *fucking blue and the power of fucking friendship.*
Say whatever the fuck you want, the dwarfs were the most mistreated in the end times, both the normal and the chaotic ones.
Shame that he didnt have a redemption arc in the End Times involving Grombrindal
For real, Grombingdal forgiveness come out of the blue with no real reason to it, just the "power of friendship" or some similar bs.
Keep up the good work dude, love your content style!
Despite the fact I hate Raid, their sponsorships are really helping UA-camrs out, so they can't be to bad.
At least it has hot looking female characters unlike most AAA videogames.
They are *that bad*
Their literal only redeeming quality is that they give youtubers money
They are absolutely that bad, actually.
RAID is a cognito-hazard that throws money at people.
They are.
As grombrindal aproached the son of anerion... something was off. As he remembered malekith was a good man,if a bit darker. Hes changed for the worst. In smoldering and weary armor
"Malekith."
The ancient dark elf turned around. Noticing a friend once dead.
"Grombrindal...?"
"What in the gods name have you done damm you!?" Demanded grombrindal.
The fury of malekith began to seethe...kill him...destroy and mangle him...but he held himself back.
"...if you still care for me at all, stay the hell away from me." Malekith spoke with barely held anger.
"Damm it answer my question! What was all of this, what was worth This!?"
"I...i...-" malekith spoke hesitantly.
"My motives are beyond you,my once friend...i chose my path. And i will die upon it."
Grombrindal saw malekiths voice partialy snap. For all hes done...a sliver of the elf that was once the greatest among them shone.
"...you look tired."
"No...broken."
Grombrindals mind raced...end the grudge. Kill the betrayer! HONOR YOUR ANCESTORS! But these thoughts were held to another...dim. but it was there.
"What happened to you malekith. Why...why are you like...this?"
"...i am dammed grombrindal...end it now...please."
"Not before you give me answers. Not before i pass on again. And so help me...for once in your fucking life, and mind you this is rich coming from me...but let it out."
"..."
As the shade of a friend long dead and the husk of what once was talked briefly...in the midst of the gods laughters... something would begin...
To be continued...
18:27 i am just imagining the rest holding slaanesh down and malekith just wailing on slaanesh's midsection forcing them to basically vomit up elven souls
Funny thing after watching your video on the sea elves this morning I decided to watch a bunch of videos on the history of the elves to try and understand the bigger picture. Then I come back and see this new video.
The name of a marvel villain, grumpy vader man and a dude in Elden Ring. Seems like the name gets around a lot
Interestingly, it seems the Marvel villain Malekith came first, and *isn't* from Norse mythology.
@@SWProductions100 It’s hard to say because they were made around the same time as each other and probably independently. 1d4chan goes into it
Where does the name come from
@@ItsButterBean1020 Mix of roots. Male-Latin for evil, Kith- from Germanic, tied to both knowledge and kin
I thought you were gonna end the video with "you are the darth vader armor to my malekith"
Great video and nice to hear some rise of nation music at the end
"Compared to Nagash, this one was pretty barebones."
Well done.
hes so bloody good legit carries the entire setting
omg sir I keep hearing that music in the background u had playing near the end of the vid here and fianlly figured it out. Rise of Nations hell of a game and a hell of soundtrack as well. Also love you stuff man u bring both information and funny to it love your little puns and your love of elves.
I appreciate the Age of Mythology music you used during the video.
>Kind of curious how you got here
Been a fan of 40k and Battletech for years, just kinda nodded along to WF lore
The Skaven having Nukes is what got me in and Nagash being Skeletor. Still don't know much about Sigmar except he is apparently > Big E (Which NGL isn't a hard bar to clear)
3.25 for those who wish to avoid Raid : Cancer legends, I've got nothing against the game I'm just never gonna play it as it's not my cup of tea and I've seen 100's of ads for it, still tho love to see your channel growing man
Can you do a video about the Wood Elves and the Eldar Exodites?
Personally I do like the idea of Malekith becoming the phoenix king, but it could’ve been done a lot better. Like I think it would’ve been better if Malekith forcibly took the power of the phoenix king from the elven gods. It would help show him as a badass and still be in line with his lore.
Have force one half and convince the other show him being a badass as well as cunning

Morathi: The Stifler's mom of The Old World and Age of Sigmar.
This video was well done!
That's Malekith for you: love him or hate him, dude's got more character depth on his bad days than Nagash on his good days (you know you're a bastard when the jackass responsible for just as much shit is disgusted by you as a person), and with none of that BS plot armor that ensured that Archaon's only in-universe defeat consists of getting kicked in the balls by an Orc.
got to give it to you 8 hours of this video being out you went up 1k subs good stuff man keep it up
I like the Age of Mythology music in the background of your videos
What's that background music starting around 3:30? Love the video!
He went through a hole video and didn’t talk about the dragon
maaan your dry humor is just gold. totaly bad day for me, watched your vid and now iam sitting here smiling
Like Darth Vader, Malekith fell to the Dark Side… AKA the Melfussy.
“Kentucky Fried Ass" this had me laughing hard.
My idea of malekith end times
Malekith:...
Other high elves:...
Malekith:look i hate the concept as much as the next person but id rather change and become a somewhat decent person and actually do something over fucking you over at every possible opertunity.
High elf:your evil as fuck tho!
Malekith:*ahem* where are we?
High elf:...valid.
Malekith:...dad if you see me,your curse is fucking bullshit. I hate myselffff *yeets into the fire of asuryan*
Asuryan:...i imediately hate myself for this.
The music went from age of mythology to rise of nations? That hit me in all the nostalgia spots!
The end times are complete garbage writing
It's not the idea that's the problem. It's the execution.
Congrats on the Raid spon fam
Hope to see High Elf Punisher, Alith Anar sometime. My favorite LL in Warhammer.

God I despise the end times. I personally don’t acknowledge it as cannon. It’s far too stupid to be cannon and I think most IP laws are dumb anyway.
"You are the Malekith to my Morathi.....wait" we love you too buddy
Dark elves: Literally immortal edgy sparta
And I love them for it, their aesthetic be drippin
Edit: Also in AoS I'm really hoping that when they introduce malekiths shadow elves(which I am very excited for) they make him and belakor fight for who gets to have the realm of shadow
Belakor is otherwise indisposed, what with overseeing an upcoming attempt to overthrow Archaon and probably Chaos civil war
I think Malekith will have not 1 but 2 competitors for that. Because you know there is a certain someone doing gurrelia warfare in Naggaroth calls himself Shadow King and can snipe with his bow everyone.
Me, watching this video: Ah this seems interesting
Oko the broko: Howdy fam
Me, now shooketh with standard PTSD: *Why must I suffer*
So Malekith,do you love or hate your mother?
Malekith: *** Y E S ***
My favorite guy to play as. A pretty swell guy. He got cheated out of his inheritance by some chicken-shit nobles but he never gave up and after a couple thousand years of trying he finally won everything he was owed back and he managed to make friends with all of his former enemies. Considering that's Warhammer, Malekith done near impossible.
Hope the next elfscapde is about Drycha, Briarmaven of Woe.
Aenerion saved Morathi from Slaanesh warband and now Malekith throwing her to Sigvalds Decadent Hosts maw)
