I imagine whoever sent this sent file went "OOOOOOH" when he moved the general inside the settlement. The game tells you the general have no movement points when you recruit them, pretty sure A LOT of people don't know you can decide to put them inside settlements right after recruiting them if you want.
I had over 100 hrs in before I realized banners had to be assigned to a unit and over 1000 hrs into this game before I realized garrisons could sally out w/o a lord
Morathi has a really difficult start since literally everyone around you that's not a dark elf will declare war. Your public order sucks so you're always stuck dealing with rebellions, and It got even harder with the wood elf update since now you gotta fight them too.
I'd add a tip: get some masters. They're really good for crowd control in a range based army, and team up really well with a death hag (both on foot, tested on VH/VH). At lvl 6 they help your economy a great deal with a +2 public order and -10% slave decline in your "money provinces".
Frankly even if you are good at these games I wouldnt really reccommend playing on any difficulty above normal/hard unlsss you're a masochist that enjoys beating your head against the wall while the AI dogpiles you with cheats. The "difficulty slider" is also essentially the fun slider.

Or you can use it on your missile infantry. Since it likely wont be in melee, and power of darkness doesnt drop models, you can get the winds for basically free.
Are you talking about power of darkness? Doesn't that spell remove WoM and WoM reserves after the spell ends? The spell even costs WoM (4 normally, 3 if you put points in it, Malekith can put it down to just 1 WoM).
@@AAGREEDYFISH Just the reserve. Basically, it gives you two arcane conduits for the 3 or 4 WoM, and the drawback is damaging your unit. If it removed the WoM you regenerate during the duration, stuff like arcane conduit, beast magic passive and other things that improve WoM temporarily would be pretty bad.
As someone who has more time as morathi than any other LL, you need to either rush Alith or Hexoatl in, like the first 30 turns, then hunker down and wait for the right moment to go for the donut

I know, I feel like most people play on easy/normal due to the fact that the A.I. cheats even then. During an easy Drycha campaign I had norsca declare war on me and go around a guarded settlement I had, marching through the Empire and Kislev in order to strike my starting settlement, which there is no way they had line of sight of. They hated Kislev and the Empire more than me, but decided I REALLY needed to die due to easy A.I. brain.
I feel like the ai behaves the same it’s just a matter of what it knows and what it can get away with. Not walking into ambush stanced armies it would lose to or making deals with enemies.
I started playing my first campaign in warhammer as Malekith on normal difficulty and i find out that i really don't need even try to win because ai was so weak. I could make big mistakes and waste many turns and still beat an enemy. After 10 hours of campaign i restarted it on hard difficulty.

the thing with small unit scale is some people are forced to play on small unit scale because their pc isn't strong enough to run the game at ultra unit scales
@Rias Gremory although it is obviously a joke (i got it), i think it is to allow them to play the game with low config they ended up creating these unit scales
One thing that I've found is that when I experiment with ultra everything is that the crash-to-desktop occurs after everything has loaded. On the second or third try, the battle starts and is relatively smooth. My potato laptop is able to run ultra unit scale at medium settings with the No Weather mod and only runs into problems if it's in windowed mode so that I can watch youtube.
I have noticed that some campaigns on "easy" are more difficult than on the legendary level they don't attack you on "easy" to much, but that's why they build armies, so if they attack, you have 2 of your armies, they have 6-8 armies
I'm an experienced player and I find this SYDC really interesting. Being on easy, its actual problem is strategic in nature and not just a cheating enemy bringing an overwhelming force against one settlement.
I think the AI even knows they’re crazy good over the normal deck hands. Fought Luther as Gor-Rok and he had 2/3rds of his army as bombers in the first 25 turns
Every other race just feels poor in comparison to Dark Elves. When playing as Blessed Dread a few months ago I maxed out the Isthmus of Lustria for slaves and it was producing something like 40k gold per turn without any assassins sitting in it, and I had a bunch of other province also producing 25-40k gold per turn.
To be fair I'd also like Legend to do something related to Legendary Lords skill builds or something similar. His knowledge about the game is just that wide so with added explanation that would help immensly. Also I love this content. I hit the brick wall as Dark Elves
He probably has a livestream of any LL you might want a build of, just look that up and look at what he skilled. As a rule of thumb: Get route marcher first because it's that good. Casters get points into their magic, non casters get points into blue until they get lightning strike and then red line if they benefit from base units (for example HE lords are always gonna have archers in their armies, the 3 poitns into their red skill are really worthwhile), or yellow until you get to the lategame units you want to build your army around. Usually you pick up unique skills whenever you can. As examples: Gelt goes yellow->red->blue, Franz goes blue->red->yellow, Imrik goes blue ->yellow->red. That is my experience on very hard at least.
If your playing VH:VH, every lord turns into a penny-pinching, skinflint of a boss to try and squeeze out another stack against the AI's 3:1 ratio. Unless Skaven. Then you just hit the IWin buttons.
I found that trying to rush down Alith early is a bad idea, but using your assassin to constantly assault his units slows him down a bit. Dont forget each agent action is usually only like 80 gold with her faction! Once I manage to get walls up in all my cities, I feel safe enough to raid Nagarythe territory for extra income or take on a few fights. Maz usually declares war on me and runs for Ironspike or Ss'Ildra, so I just ambush his path or catch him out and take his army down, along with any other armies he uses. Once he's wounded I try to start taking settlements, sacking a few just to get my income up. All the while, I level Morathi along her spell list, then move along her combat line to get her Enchanting Beauty debuff. I personally like to take her Tenacious line to get the -30% upkeep but I hear good arguments for her Insidious line. After that I want to pick up her Magic talents leading into the Dark Blessing talent that gives her lots of cooldown and cost reduction on her big spells, especially Soulstealer. I take Route Marcher early and if I feel the need I might get some points in casualty capture for extra slaves. I almost never touch her red line because I think shes more valuable as a unit that is made powerful over a leader that improves her army.
quick reminder that there is one advantage to fighting on the walls. If the enemy is the vampire coast or counts they will be unable to use invocation of neheck on any unit that has a model on the walls that said i advise against vampires sending anything valuable on the walls at all whether attacking or defending
It's funny to see those non-flicked vortex spells in older WH2 videos, now that people know that it was possible to aim them a little with a flick on cast and be sad when WH3 took that away again.
I learn a lot more from lower difficulties than I do on legendary, the latter basically becomes the usual train filled with cheese and I don´t divert much in terms of army composition. When playing on f.ex. normal I usually prefer to actually fight how I imagine battles are supposed to be fought. No cheesing on sieges, no one man ambushes and no map border camping just to mention a few examples. This of course also states my inadequacy to win a legendary campaign without cheesing.
The thing I noticed about the cheatin ash AI.. The AI will intentionally try and get a friendly AI faction to ally with you and as soon as they do, the other faction will declare war on your ally to force you to either screw yourself diplomatically or get into never ending wars. Don't accept alliances in the early game, it's a trap.

How was that quintex battle a "close victory?" Honestly, it seems like the game has recently been labelling a lot of seemingly one-sided victories as close.
Morathis campaign always starts with around 50 turns of beating HE armies ... until they drain themselves and give you a chance to counter-attack. I finally beat them capturing Lothern with help from Malekith taking out the north-eastern coast at turn 100.
Just won a Morathi co-op campaign and had the same problem, fighting all the high elves in one go then Hexoatl declares war on me. Though even after several hundred turns I didn't know Black Arks could attack coastal cities. I tried it and it didn't work so I didn't try it again.
I love these videos, always Something to learn. I need such a video for my Wulfhart VH Vortex campaign. There are just guides for the first 20 turns or so. But the real trouble for me always begins afterwards. In always end up having war with nearly the whole map. The pestilens rats conquer the whole south like they always do, and declare war. Hexoatl declares war. Darth Vader and Davy Jones Guy gang up on me, landing on my shores, and he also tells his mum. Dont know how to win this campaign. Hardest campaign ever. What can a man do against such reckless hate?
9:30 *Of course it is the same AI, with bonuses!* Why did you ever expect it not to be? This is not a solved game like Chess, Age of Empires 2 or a 2D fighting game. This is a strategy game. Planning ahead is fundamental. Game AI can not plan ahead, at all. It needs those bonuses as "AI stupidity offsets".
I think one difference with the AI on like Easy vs Legendary is that on Legendary they might declare war more easily. Been playing on normal and the AI are a bit passive.
@@MouldMadeMind Well I've had AI factions being stronger and not in any wars but I could get to a negative rating of 60 and they still didn't want to start a war. Also a lot of factions will will survive because everyone is so passive.
Come on, Legend, why Incidious? 5% movement factionwide is very minor. Tenacious provides 30% reduced upkeep and heaps of post-battle loot money and slaves factionwide. Considering the campaign's finances it's the way to go.
@@-pancakes7205 it's the other way around, most single entities and ranged units are far better, and units that are both single entity and ranged get insane the lower the unit scale is. Bone giants, necrofex collosi and stegadons can all wipe out entire units with 2 attacks on small unit scale. they're good but nowhere near as op on ultra.
I don’t understand. Is it just easy difficulty? Or because I play on Legendary? Because when Legend uses his spells it can wipe out entire units. I always hit em all bunched up and can maybe get like 15 kills. Especially on the tear-shaped spell that Dark Elves get for free. Always is useless for me, but he almost wiped out two units when defending Quintex.
I’ve played on all difficulties, and to me the AI acts the same for the most part. The only difference with difficulty I noticed is the debuffs to you, and the battle buffs to the AI.
@@BvzSA if it's battle difficulty and it's open map make sure to bring artillery and the will come to you , if it the strategic map then yes they never attack on easy lol. I'm always play hard strategic and normal battle difficulty (cus i hate it's only buff the enemy morale not make them smarter)
@@BvzSA They're only more passive because the debuffs make it harder for them to recruit bigger armies, which, since they're weaker, would make them less inclined to mob you. It's the same AI, just responding to different conditions.
Dunno how many dark elf armies I've destroyed on legendary. I think I'm slowly winning the war 😂 as lizardmen with varied armies. I'm not sure on doomstacks, it has never been my style. Either way it has become a grind. I like a challenge, and preferably different opponents to face, but the lower difficulties can have their appeal to. What you do early on from the start is often the most difficult bit in very hard/legendary. After that your plain sailing for a good while if you know what your doing. It seems, I've hit a wall, where the dark elves have numbers comparable to the skaven lol.
I had no idea you accepted easy difficulty battles. Thought all of these were on higher end difficulty. I gotta say tho ( at the risk of sounding like a noob) easy mode doesn't seem so easy some times lol

Can you make a video showing how to deal with high elf archers as dark elf without "abusing" pegasus mounts?(Maybe just using regular units) I just cannot get a good engage when the high elves have more range. They shred my frontline, should i send darkshard with shields ahead and win the archer fight?
I expected easy to be a walk in the park when I first played it but if ur new to grand strategy no matter how many of legends vids you have watched it will still be tough
fighting the high elves then the lizardmen decided to get rid of non-aggression pact and took the 2 lower settlements and as the lizard men were cleaned up and started to push them high elves proceeded to teleport into capital. That's why they had like 2 armies that weren't even built because i destroyed the 2 1/2 stacks that did come and attack
i was playin as dark elves at hard difficulty i was doing well until it told me to increase difficulty so i did and the upkeep cost of the army increased by 70% :( now it's -60k pur turn
From what I've seen, if he is playing a faction that wants to swarm an enemy with multiple armies, he doesn't rush Lightning Strike. But if he is going to build one elite army, then lightning strike is very important.
Someone heard that Morathi was easy and got completely the wrong idea....

Yeah some things aren't super clear from the start. This game tends to show you that the hard way.
It sucks that the heroes don't have that tiny bit of movement that would allow them to join an army though.

this is absolutely good idea, im crap at these games, and watching someone cheese legendary doesnt compare to lower difficulties very well.

Morathis campaign always starts with around 50 turns of beating HE armies ... until they drain themselves and give you a chance to counter-attack. I finally beat them capturing Lothern with help from Malekith taking out the north-eastern coast at turn 100.
i do believe that morathi has the most faction effects

Just won a Morathi co-op campaign and had the same problem, fighting all the high elves in one go then Hexoatl declares war on me. Though even after several hundred turns I didn't know Black Arks could attack coastal cities. I tried it and it didn't work so I didn't try it again.
They've been able to since Shadow and Blade

I love these videos, always Something to learn. I need such a video for my Wulfhart VH Vortex campaign. There are just guides for the first 20 turns or so. But the real trouble for me always begins afterwards. In always end up having war with nearly the whole map. The pestilens rats conquer the whole south like they always do, and declare war. Hexoatl declares war. Darth Vader and Davy Jones Guy gang up on me, landing on my shores, and he also tells his mum. Dont know how to win this campaign. Hardest campaign ever. What can a man do against such reckless hate?
5:32 i always thought that Total war games were balanced around large unit scale. That's why i never unit ultra

This is not a solved game like Chess, Age of Empires 2 or a 2D fighting game. This is a strategy game. Planning ahead is fundamental. Game AI can not plan ahead, at all. It needs those bonuses as "AI stupidity offsets".
I think one difference with the AI on like Easy vs Legendary is that on Legendary they might declare war more easily. Been playing on normal and the AI are a bit passive.
I gues it's because they are stronger.
@@MouldMadeMind Well I've had AI factions being stronger and not in any wars but I could get to a negative rating of 60 and they still didn't want to start a war.
Also a lot of factions will will survive because everyone is so passive.
So I learned that shades are good to have lol I use beasts mainly Im new so this helped me under the dark elf more thx

Come on, Legend, why Incidious? 5% movement factionwide is very minor. Tenacious provides 30% reduced upkeep and heaps of post-battle loot money and slaves factionwide. Considering the campaign's finances it's the way to go.

Isn’t the game balanced around large unit scale tho and not ultra? And how much bigger is ultra compared to large?
Ultra favors ranged units and single entities a lot more.
@@-pancakes7205 wouldn’t small unit scale favorite single entities more because they have to kill a lot less to wipe out a unit
@@-pancakes7205 it's the other way around, most single entities and ranged units are far better, and units that are both single entity and ranged get insane the lower the unit scale is. Bone giants, necrofex collosi and stegadons can all wipe out entire units with 2 attacks on small unit scale. they're good but nowhere near as op on ultra.

I don’t understand. Is it just easy difficulty? Or because I play on Legendary? Because when Legend uses his spells it can wipe out entire units. I always hit em all bunched up and can maybe get like 15 kills.
Especially on the tear-shaped spell that Dark Elves get for free. Always is useless for me, but he almost wiped out two units when defending Quintex.

I’ve played on all difficulties, and to me the AI acts the same for the most part. The only difference with difficulty I noticed is the debuffs to you, and the battle buffs to the AI.
@@BvzSA if it's battle difficulty and it's open map make sure to bring artillery and the will come to you , if it the strategic map then yes they never attack on easy lol.
I'm always play hard strategic and normal battle difficulty (cus i hate it's only buff the enemy morale not make them smarter)
@@BvzSA They're only more passive because the debuffs make it harder for them to recruit bigger armies, which, since they're weaker, would make them less inclined to mob you. It's the same AI, just responding to different conditions.

Dunno how many dark elf armies I've destroyed on legendary. I think I'm slowly winning the war 😂 as lizardmen with varied armies. I'm not sure on doomstacks, it has never been my style.
Either way it has become a grind. I like a challenge, and preferably different opponents to face, but the lower difficulties can have their appeal to. What you do early on from the start is often the most difficult bit in very hard/legendary. After that your plain sailing for a good while if you know what your doing. It seems, I've hit a wall, where the dark elves have numbers comparable to the skaven lol.

I had no idea you accepted easy difficulty battles. Thought all of these were on higher end difficulty. I gotta say tho ( at the risk of sounding like a noob) easy mode doesn't seem so easy some times lol
Another really interesting one. Despite being on Easy, still some really useful advice. So much more fun than another "line up your Ratling guns" or "take more Shaggoths" video.

Hello. Can you make a video showing how to deal with high elf archers as dark elf without "abusing" pegasus mounts?(Maybe just using regular units)
I just cannot get a good engage when the high elves have more range. They shred my frontline, should i send darkshard with shields ahead and win the archer fight?

Aren't Hydras siege attackers?
Yes, but you need artillery to destroy the towers in Hexoatl. The towers there are very powerful and will otherwise kill all your archers on approach.
@@username30639 Actually Hexoatl is only tier 3 here, towers are problem only at tier 4 and 5

fighting the high elves then the lizardmen decided to get rid of non-aggression pact and took the 2 lower settlements and as the lizard men were cleaned up and started to push them high elves proceeded to teleport into capital. That's why they had like 2 armies that weren't even built because i destroyed the 2 1/2 stacks that did come and attack
why does nobody speed up the camera speed
i was playin as dark elves at hard difficulty i was doing well until it told me to increase difficulty so i did and the upkeep cost of the army increased by 70% :( now it's -60k pur turn

I always get lightning strike for my lords as a top priority. Legend do u not always get lightning strike on ur lords?
From what I've seen, if he is playing a faction that wants to swarm an enemy with multiple armies, he doesn't rush Lightning Strike. But if he is going to build one elite army, then lightning strike is very important.
On easy/normal enemy rarely brings more than 1 army. But for VH/Leg is a must unless you pay as VC or TK
Won't you look at that, the ai actually has its allies forces working together against the poor guy. Playing on easy.
And yet when you play you could have a thousand allies all around you and even if you give them war targets they will sit in their settlement
