Once the water gets into control modules and wiring it is game over. I worked for Mercedes as a tech, I've seen flood cars and repairing them is very expensive and NOT WORTH IT. This is the reason why they are totaled by the insurance. However, buying a car like this for parts or heavy modifications, then I can certainly see the point.
If you were a real tech , you would know that 3M makes flood-remover. All you have to do is submerge the flood car in their patented R.I.C.E. and let it sit overnight. Make sure to cover the whole car and take out the battery first. ..lmao

Yes but you have to remember these cars have been sitting for a while. Water will leak past the rings into the pan, still going to be a milkshake after you start it

I just came across your posting/video reviews for the first time and I gotta say as an old guy I'm so dam impressed by your knowledge of cars... not to mention your enthusiasm about cars period! As a kid I grew up in Michigan with a dad that not only worked at a GM factory but also had a small auto repair business that did work on all cars but specialized in Corvairs after GM discontinued making them in 1969. Pops was known as the Corvair guy in the small town I grew up in. Fast forward to my early 20's, I moved to Los Angeles in the early 80's to further my career in shopping center development, design, and construction. After living most of my adult life in LA and more specifically the last 10 - years, I have found that there are not many "young guys" that are into cars or car culture. Back in the 80's the Asian imports were really popular here especially given all the 80's movies that featured them. No one can forget LA car culture back in the 50's & 60's. However, with the advent of electric cars over the last 10 - 20 years, car culture amongst young guys seems to have almost disappeared here. I have many friends and neighbors with driving age young sons that have absolutely no interest in even getting a driver's license let alone getting their first car as a "fixer upper" to work on in their parent's garage after school/work each day. The San Fernando Valley and South Bay were hubs of car culture "back in the day". At 14 years old I found my first car in a farmer's front yard siting on four flat tires with a blown engine for $25 bucks. I got one of my buddies that had their driver's license to help my tow the 1964 Corvair back to my dad's auto repair shop where Pops taught me how to rebuild the motor and any other components that needed help. He then repainted the Corvair in its original Burgandy color. Fortunately, the interior just needed a good scrubbing. I redyed the faded carpet and the ole Corvair looked almost brand new! That is until I let a girlfriend try driving it which resulted in her hitting an adjacent parked 64" Mustang owned by a fellow student! My insurance paid to fix both cars however, Pops made me do all the work except the spray painting and pocketed the insurance money. Of course, that was to teach me a lesson about who you let drive your car! So, either I got way too old or living at the beach has insulated me from whatever car culture remains in Southern California. With that background I have to say it brings a smile when I see young guys that appear to "breath & eat" cars and know them so well as you do! Thank you for the enjoyable videos! Good luck on your future auction finds!
Actually with the 987 and 997 Porsches they have a tab in the drivers footwell fusebox for you to hook 12v to which powers the hood and trunk release for these flat battery situations
I am a rebuilder too, the mold on the z06 seat doesn't mean it got that high. I had a new civic get a couple of inches on the floorboards and by the time they looked at it 2 weeks later, the interior was full of surface mold. Never judge a book by the cover.
Hi I seen a camaro ss for sale with a rebulit title they told me it's been flooded..I didn't know wat that meant till I saw this video and I wanted to know if it's a good buy to get one?
To get the frunk open on the Porsche, open driver side door, look under the dashboard to the left and open fuse panel. You will see a red plastic cover among the fuses. Pull that red lever back and connect the positive clamp from your jump box. Then connect the negative to door hinge. Hit the frunk button and your good to go.

I would'nt pay more than $10K for that Aston. I could only imagine all the quality words of the present owner towards it. That car is bad enough without water damage.
Guys, don’t worry about mould (unless it’s caused physical Damage). All you need is TEA TREE OIL BAR SOAP. Or just liquid tea tree oil soap. Shave soap into 2L of very hot water. Dissolve thoroughly. Pour into empty cleaned 2L Soda plastic bottle, fill to 1/4 only, Shake like crazy until foams up. Shop vac all excess water first. squeeze foam onto carpets and seats. Sponge thick foam everywhere and let soak for 24 hours. Shop vac as much as possible. Reapply everywhere again and soak 24 hrs. Shop vac and use a Bissel steam cleaner or just hot water without soap to rinse any excess ….and vacuum dry as possible and crack all windows and use a small, safe, space heater and a fan to circulate air inside cabin. Pull up carpets if necessary. And check underneath. I’ve had a literal carpet of green and stank, coating entire seats, treated as above and it never returned
The range rover made me laugh. Its apparently designed to wade water up to the footwell level! Keeping the RR reputation for the most unreliable car ever.

That range might have been a great buy. They have two batteries and that's why the screens didn't come on. When you first got in...it said low battery. I've had two with the same issue and getting the battery recharged or replaced...is what worked.
That range rover isnt turning on the central console screens due to low battery. Easy battery change would fix that. I had same car and that was the problem.

Drag car is a chevy 454 block, might be bored out to more Ci but cant tell without a tear down, has Iron heads so cant be running that much boost. Has a B&N 871 Supercharger, I would say around 7-10psi of boost, motor makes around 600 to 750hp at best how it sits.
ok so after you've bought an cleaned up these high end vehicles and go to resell are they not salvage titled? is there a large market for high end salvage titled cars? seems to good to be true.
The Harley is a pan head. It’s a hydra glide. It called a Hydra glide because it had fill shocks in the front. The frame was rigid meaning no rear shocks. This bike is after the springer front end. When Harley started putting shocks on the rear they called it a duo glide.
That Pro-street Camaro had a Big Block Chevy with a B&M 420 Mega Blower. That was a high dollar build. I would have definitely bid on that one. Tons of potential there.
Reason why you can't just repair flooded cars is it's impossible to verify integrity of all the affected parts. They may look good and intact but there can be micro corosion and ingress under the surface, parts are no longer guaranteed to able to withstand the use they were designed for. Certain bits and pieces, mainly not touched by water and not electronics and engine parts can be salvaged, hence the reason for these sale yards. But should never try to fix one and drive around, all insurance companies automatically write them off for a reason.
Yeah. They should be destroyed, not fixed. With a couple hundred pounds of wire and dozens? of microprocessors, there are future electrical failures lurking everywhere.
Porsche jump start. Ding the fuse board in the front interior door well, they have a positive rod that pulls out and you can connect the jumper pack to make the system live, then open the bonnet and boot. No need to strip off exterior etc. 👍
Flood cars can look amazing on surface and even engine can run fine but the suspension, axle and wheels start to rust out and start creating driving issues not to mention friction and out of control and loud noises making it difficult and annoying to drive an otherwise great looking car. I bought one and sold it within a month.
if you buy flood car you MUST open the engine first and then the diff + transmission and thats on older gen cars (before 2005), new gen cars its almost impossible to rescue them....
My trick for getting hoods or truck to open when batters are dead. Take your booster and hook to the hot wire that runs to the fuse box. If u can't get to it use two nails in a fuse spot. Second you can hook to the red wire on the starter. And ground on the frame
Copart doesn't care about damage. We buy an average of 50 cars a month from them, and they do more damage moving and loading cars than the accident or flood does.
if using many many parts from certificate of destruction car to another vehicle, which parts or part should remain on the other vehicle for it to be considered as different car from the Certificate of Destruction car?
Judging by the water levels on the Rover it’s probably just a few corroded grounds. Those electronics are super finicky and can easily stop functioning to prevent a short
I have a question. Does Porsche make cars with an Automatic Transmission with a Hardtop??? And an All Wheel Drive??? And can You tell Me about the Classic 90’s Dodge Stealth that was used in the Made For TV Movies “The Bandit” featuring actor Brian Bloom???
For the Porsche: In the left side of the footwell there is a fusebox where you can connect plus and minus to a helper battery and then you can easily open the frunk
That aston martin would have started. you were right about voltage. just because it turns over doesnt mean it has sufficient current you can turn it over all day till it goes dead still wont start till you put a fresh battery or a booster on it. why dont you have a booster with you am i missing something?
In the 911 there is a fusebox in the footwell, 996 onward with a pull out jump point for the hood release to get under the lid for the battery, remember for next time!
We had a guy whose SLS AMG got flooded in that storm. His insurance totaled the car but he bought it back and had us replace the engine and a couple control units and he ended up making about $10k out of the whole deal.
If the car is flooded first thing to do is never never try to start the engine, tow the car bring to autshop open the hood clean the engine dry thoroughly simple….

FYI simple solution on cars that have batteries locked up. Make a pigtail for your jump box that plugs into the power port/cig lighter. This will allow the electric release to work.
You need to buy the blue car with the blower because you can replace everything else. Basically you need a motor that Texas speed can build you then you can get a powerglide transmission
Re the 2015 Mitsu Lancer @4:31, the one that sold for $11,400. The similar car I found, presumably the un-flooded kind: A 2017 Lancer, with 114,000 miles, for $9500. The 2015 Lancer? That car was no bargain, regardless of mileage...
That Chevelle by far is my favorite out of all of them absolutely 100% best car of all time IMHO Ps- the hood release is up front not inside of the car!
The Range Rover can probably handle water better than the other cars so I wouldn't let that worry you. The failing electrics are probably down to the fact that it's a Range Rover and the electrics are highly unreliable.
Nice vid really helpful I'm looking of getting a camaro ss but they told me it was flooded I didn't know what that meant so I looked it up on UA-cam and your viedo popped out and I would like to ask if you think if a flooded camaro is a good car to get?

Drag car is a chevy 454 block, might be bored out to more Ci but cant tell without a tear down, has Iron heads so cant be running that much boost. Has a B&N 871 Supercharger, I would say around 7-10psi of boost, motor makes around 600 to 750hp at best how it sits.
danggg thanks for the info
The best car to get out of all the options, easiest fix.
The hood release for the Chevelle is on the front of the car just under the grille.
Imagine bidding on a car, but two days before some kids started the engine ducking the car up further.
ok so after you've bought an cleaned up these high end vehicles and go to resell are they not salvage titled? is there a large market for high end salvage titled cars? seems to good to be true.
Potential for severe rust from salt!
Seems like the safer bet would be the older muscle cars without all the electronics
Very true!
Flood cars are a nightmare to repair, alot of companies don't even bother with the headaches
Sad for the Aston. This thing was a beauty. I hope the new owner enjoys it properly right now.
Doesnt happen in one day
You're wrong
Dude, suspension, axle and wheels are in the water every time it rains? You ok?
if you buy flood car you MUST open the engine first and then the diff + transmission and thats on older gen cars (before 2005), new gen cars its almost impossible to rescue them....
I had a brand new flooded Kia. Worked well.
9:21 seeing people loose modified cars is so painful. I hope it starts.
My trick for getting hoods or truck to open when batters are dead. Take your booster and hook to the hot wire that runs to the fuse box. If u can't get to it use two nails in a fuse spot. Second you can hook to the red wire on the starter. And ground on the frame
You know they have a hand held jump starter box with cables?
How could you go in with no starting fluid or anything?
Co part must be crazy allowing you to start the flood cars , whilst they still are waterlogged
Copart doesn't care about damage. We buy an average of 50 cars a month from them, and they do more damage moving and loading cars than the accident or flood does.
How do yu think the lot knows if it’s a run and drive…..they start them
@@djexclusive215 lol. I buy an average of 50 cars a month from copart, no they do not start flood vehicles.
This guy is busy starting cars and not buying....Just looking should be the title....
Honestly the Camero would be your best bet for a flood car... No or just minimal electronics to deal with.
Definitely the best bet
Facts
All cars rust from salt water!
The White Audi RS5 was a real stunner. I’d have bid on that beauty.
Big difference between freshwater and salt water
if using many many parts from certificate of destruction car to another vehicle,
which parts or part should remain on the other vehicle for it to be considered as different car from the Certificate of Destruction car?
Omg it's fun to see when these two guys totalled these cars by starting engines❤️
Yeah, I cringe each time they start cranking sway
They have likely already been started a few dozen times by other potential buyers, so its already game over...
all the cars have probably already been started, whatever damage was done they didnt do it
Judging by the water levels on the Rover it’s probably just a few corroded grounds. Those electronics are super finicky and can easily stop functioning to prevent a short
How do you guys work on the salvage titles? Are they hard to sale?
I have a question. Does Porsche make cars with an Automatic Transmission with a Hardtop??? And an All Wheel Drive??? And can You tell Me about the Classic 90’s Dodge Stealth that was used in the Made For TV Movies “The Bandit” featuring actor Brian Bloom???
"I DUNNO GUYS... THIS ROUSH MIGHT BE SUPERCHARGED???"
Has the word "ROUSHCHARGED" right on the hood lol
First thing I always do when going for a car at auction is check the carpets, if they're wet I know it's been in a river lol
best deal was the vette, about 300 feet of wiring in the entire car.. ( campared to the range rover with several miles.
The Camaro!!!
I just can't imagine that you can tell those Porsches apart so easily. I can hardly spot differences.
The Chevelle was sweet. Wonderful example of 70 Muscle cars. Too bad you could not figure out that hood release.
Why don’t you use a drone when you are at those parks to see every car ? I think it would be a good idea
That’s a good idea actually!
Agreed, would save so much time. Now letting you do it is a different story.
Mind boggling how much the dude invested into the Camaro and to see him only get half or less from the insurance company.
Idk why he’d let insurance take it probably could have gotten more out of parting the thing out
How can you start up a flooded car!! This blows my mind! You're causing damage! My word!!!
Haha exactly, I wonder how many cars they destroyed that day?
@@sl5946 great question 🤔
@@brendof007 It would be crazy if the auction forced them to buy all the cars that they started
@@sl5946 they have been buying auction cars for a long time. I fail to understand that they didn't do any kind of research checking out these cars. I mean there are so many channels on UA-cam. Just wow! The next person buying these cars they tried to start will be having much more to deal with then electronics.
So you can't try to start the car before buying it? Geez chill out. They are already screwed.
looks so fun! I can't believe they just let you walk around and mess around with them - you may damage them even further, but good for you!
Verdade
Anybody can do that.
FYI simple solution on cars that have batteries locked up. Make a pigtail for your jump box that plugs into the power port/cig lighter. This will allow the electric release to work.
Thanks
When you’re trying to start, the aftermarket look like it was a neutral that make a difference
Balls of steel putting juice to flood cars without a fire extinguisher on hand lol
_The Evo 10 looks like the best one out there condition wise along with that zo6 and the Roush but seeing that water just does it for alot of ppl.._
I love the colour combo for the Aston.
That Chevelle by far is my favorite out of all of them absolutely 100% best car of all time IMHO
Ps- the hood release is up front not inside of the car!
NOw u tell em
That evo x would’ve been crazy , that engine runs for for ever. Hard to kill
I think the Blown Camaro was definitely the coolest to me! I would love to see it on the channel!
Agree
Can someone tell what exact car is that at @20:09 ? Porsche 992 Nirvana? I cannot seem to find it.
The Range Rover can probably handle water better than the other cars so I wouldn't let that worry you. The failing electrics are probably down to the fact that it's a Range Rover and the electrics are highly unreliable.
So many project cars. Definitely worth the effort to put them in a garage and work on them if the engine is good.
Always love when y'all pick up a Porsche
You need one of those OBD2 ports that lets you send enough power to the car to open boots and bonnets
That's a good idea. Just get a reader and read all the codes on the cars you really want.
And carry a jump box
Where u guys r , I have a 2004 bmw 645ci flood water on the floor to door level. I need a help in fixing it.
These are the best video types, absolutely love seeing the copart yards!
Glad you enjoy it!
knew that evo would run, absolute monsters of cars
I live at the jersey shore... stay away from flood cars... salt water damage can take months to show..
these 2 guys are idiots. no talk or idea about salt water vrs rain water damage
Nice vid really helpful I'm looking of getting a camaro ss but they told me it was flooded I didn't know what that meant so I looked it up on UA-cam and your viedo popped out and I would like to ask if you think if a flooded camaro is a good car to get?
Thanks!
You should at least check the oil before starting the cars!
6:12
Keep doing these Copart walk arounds
Lord! When I get blessed with enough money to purchase decent rides like that. I'd take a couple home to get 'em goin'. They're nice. We have one of those here in Dallas and they always have nice cars.
Would you please tell me where in Dallas. Thanks.
@@anwarparvez3982 look up copart dallas or IAA
What is your opinion of county auctions from seizes, raids, etc.?
Where is this at that you can buy these flooded vehicles because normally I Gotta do is buy a new ECM and plug it. In all the computers just need to be changed. I mean you may have to pull the motor apart and rebuild it but that’s not much.
That flooded Ferrari 360 is my dad’s car that broke my heart seeing it like that
