If you are happy enough with it sounding like a supercar and having a nice interior, try the alfa 166 3.0, that engine sings. From this list, I'd try to find a clean C5 Z06 for 20k. It's the fastest car I could afford to maintain.
Ay Squid, when shopping for an e60 M5, find one in SMG. Which sucks. But, it's the best experience. The manual was pulled from the E39 and the gearing is garbage for the V10 in my opinion. Which means you should try to aim for a 2008+ (lci facelift) with the updated SMG. You might still run into SMG issues though.
Problem with buying a cheap supercar is the costs that might follow. An AMG has expensive brakes, big expensive tires, they drink petrol like a Bavarian drinks beer at Oktoberfest, ... I have a friend who bought a used Mercedes C63 AMG Estate for about 28.000 euro. After less than a year he had to sell it because of the costs to run it. That thing used a lot of fuel, smoked rear tires like crazy, etc.
Ive always thought of the 2005 Cl65 as my favorite "supercar", Bi-turbo v12, 600hp, and its not hard to find them for 17k only problem is they eat fuel, brakes, and oil and have a limiter.
I had a buddy that bought a viper at auction for a steal. Had nothing wrong with when he bought it. Kept it for about 6 months and kept having to drop a bunch of money into it. Good picks , think the Z06 would be my choice for the reliability factor above all else . Viper and then the Lotus . Guessing if someone was a talented mechanic then the parts for everything else could be ,,, let’s say not too bad . Everything else on the list looks like a foreign car repair shops bread and butter
I did buy a sportcar back in November 2013. A Fiat Barchetta with chameleon paint job (a multicolor paint job that changes depend on the angle). That car got a lot of attention. And I sold the Fiat back in July 2016. I do not regret that purchase.

As a previous owner of a base 996.2 Carrera 911. I agree. Definitly gets attention. only had 320hp and 0-60 was 4.9 seconda but top speed was 177......which is supercar in my opinion. Anyways, sold my 996 to another youtuber (Auto Ameture) back in June 2020 and went American again and got a new 2020 Charger 392 Scatpack in september. Sure its a $40k+ car that's fast but its no supercar and although its gets attention its nothing like when I owned my 996.2. Man I miss that Porsche. Glad it went to good home and that the guy still ownes and drives it. He cross countrying that thing right now. Lol. Anyways, great video and I agree with most these cars on the list.
For those who want a sleeper, the C6 S6. It has a 5.2L V10 under the hood and looks *almost* identical to the A6, apart from minor differences only a few will notice. I own one and couldn’t possibly be happier with it. It isn’t the sharpest on a back road or the fastest in a straight line, but its fast and agile enough to have a good time in, not to mention the Beyoncé under the hood ;) Im sure people would question the handling first and foremost, to which i say there’s quite a few of different adjustable coilover setups from different brands like H&R, Bilstein, and a few others. Its a pretty reliable engine if well maintained, but definitely set aside some money for parts and maintenance. Doing it yourself will obviously save a few bucks, and there’s a good number of parts from other manufacturers, some of which supply the original parts for the S6. PLEASE do your research before diving into one of these, because if you ain’t prepared, its gonna burn through money like California in the summer. Alternatives: if you want luxury, get the S8, same 5.2 V10. If you want fast, get the RS6 with the twin turbo 5.0 V10. I chose the S6 because i find its the best value for money, and 430hp is plenty already.
I have an idea for a video. Run what ya brung. Highlight viewers rides. appreciate what you got and viewers that turned their daily driver into something unique.
You can get good sports cars for that price like used Porche Boxter (I prefer the Porche Cayman which is a non cabriolet version of the Boxter but they are to new to be in that price range).
I love these kind of videos, nice job. Couple weeks ago l couldn't believe my eyes when a Karma rolled along side of me on the freeway. First thought was "it's running (their known to be seriously troublesome) second thought "it's freaking gorgeous!!!" I was driving my old 412 Ferrari and he was checking me out, my car though somewhat reliable and fun (manual) to drive looked like crap compared to the Karma. I heard some company was building them with Corvette running gear but don't know if they were actually built or not.
C5 Z06 cars are pretty sweet. But for less you can get an LT1 powered C4 Corvette that has major 80's supercar energy. Big FI V8 up front, 6 Speed ZF trans, You can go with 315s squared and they won't pop out at all, Independent suspension, flip up lights, clamshell hood, you sit on the floor and it's 3300 lbs... And it's a Targa. For a little more coin you can nab a 96 with an LT-4 that will rev to about 6500 RPM.
You have to ask yourself this question: Do you want to actually go fast, or just look like you could go fast. Choose one or the other if you want to save money. Me? I put an all-aluminum 383 stroker with a procharger into a 1987 Monte Carlo. Now, a standard Monte Carlo sucks at braking and turning, but that's because its suspension is 35 years old and substandard when new. After a round of new and bigger sway bars, body stiffening braces, new control arms, coil overs, and 6-piston disk brakes on all for corners (cheap conversion with 1996 Chevy Blazer Parts and off-the-shelf brakes) she's stiff as hell and stops on a dime. I didn't break the bank either. My "small town beater car" can troll almost any cocky kid in his dad's new car.
Some good cars in this list. Would've been good to see the 300zx in there. And before you bring up reliability, they're very reliable when properly maintained. Buy a twin turbo manual for 15k, spend 5k on upgrades and maintenance, 10k on a respray and you've got a hell of a sports car that looks amazing, drives amazing and will give you worry free driving pleasure for years to come. They're also going up in value.
I got a 2007 C6 convertible a couple years ago between $20k to $24k with 54k miles in Monterey Red. I'm loving it so far and it's not that bad on insurance. I got 72k on it now and just replaced the harmonic balancer with an ATI one a year ago. I also installed a K&N CAI. I'm too indecisive on the exhaust though. A lot of money for a Borla or Corsa.
Don't be fooled by the low purchase prices, they cost a lot to run, especially an SL55. The Elise is the best option, just don't bend the suspension mounts or ding the body shells. I know, I've had both.
Having a manual is not required in some situations if you like doing drag races, newer automatics can be faster than their manual counterpart. This is not the 1970s automatic transmissions these days are pretty awesome.
12:30 And what sucks donkey is that Chrysler had input on the build. I just bought a 98 Mercedes R129 SL600 with 99K miles for $9K. I am going to make $$ on this car.
Audi TTRS MKII (2012), 5 inline, good roar, 0-100 km/h in 4,3sec, Quattro, and the engine can be reliably brought from 360Hp to 500Hp. Nice interior too.

The SL55 has very good electronics, probably some of the best. The only thing you may consider an issue is the convertible top, but to be fair that has always been an issue with convertible Mercedes.
The electronics are top notch
@@joelstatosky1817 even compared to the W215 flawless electronics?
@@shaggings fair point, without the convertible it does make the w215 arguably more reliable. However If I'm getting an AMG, I want an SL
I figured the Alfa Romeo 4C would be on here. I know it's not very fast with the 4-cylinder engine but it is pretty exotic looking for the price.
Absolutely adore mine, tuned making 300whp is plenty for a car that weighs only 2300lbs haha - one of the most fun cars ive ever driven
There’s no way I would sell my C5 Z06 for 18K! 😮 But they can be bought for that! Just be ready to drop about 3-4K in it to get it rite! 😎🤙🏼
I bought my 01 z06 a year ago for $15,600 with 62k miles. Absolutely love it and wouldn’t let it go for any reasonable offer. Worth way more to me than the blue book value, which is way up
Got my 03 Z06 for 23k with 50k miles 2 years ago and dropped another 5k for repairs/preventive issues (tires, valve springs, trunnions, new clutch, rear end seals etc, etc)
Mercedes cl 65 AMG is another good one. It has a bi-turbo v12 with over 600 hp and u can find plenty in the 20k-30k range
All these cars except for the Corvette. Will put you in the poor house on maintenance
Having a blue with two white stripes Dogue Viper is my childhood dream car.
It looks so amazing.
For me would be a SL55 AMG
Remember, whatever you buy it will inevitably require repairs and maintenance. Many of these cars have parts prices that will shock you.
Jag F type V8 SC they depreciate like hell but are fun to drive & few people seem to know what they are in the US
I've actually spoken to my cousin three days ago about that specific Jag🤣🤣.
They also sound amazing. I just don't know much about their reliability. Any thoughts?
@@Noor_Jacobs03 I drive one….daily. A 2017 in winter and ice too. I have had zero problems for the exception of a sensor replacement -got it with around thirty thousand miles on it & have had it for a year. I have put about 10,000 miles on it so far. I do change cars often because we only live once, I plan on keeping it another 6 months. Just buy a really good extended warranty incase anything happens.

The ideal channel needs to get a c5z06 and track it! Do some real car guy stuff! You guys will have a blast and create some awesome content. Just don’t let brad put a roof rack on it
If i didn't live in a tiny little 1 bedroom apartment and no parking space, no garage, I'd 100% be building a racecar right now.

If an Elise with a Pontiac Vibe engine qualifies as a supercar, does a Pontiac Fiero qualify as a supercar?
I don’t think most people would think it is one when you roll up…
Yes especially the Pontiac Fiero GT.
Non car people will think that the Pontiac Fiero GT is an Ferrari just like they thought about the Toyota MR2.
ask to an owner of a lotus to give you a ride. I've been in many supercars and the scariest time in my life was on a abck road on an Exige 260, damn that thing is fast...
@@IdealMediaChannel BODY KIT
@@IdealMediaChannel You guys should start a tuning + body kit company. Take cheap yet powerful cars, tune them to the moon, and give them an exotic looking body kit, all for the cheap $$
Squidd: Insults everyone watching for being poor and hopeless.
Me: Well, the man knows his audience.
I'm not rich and I'm pretty hopeless too. We're all in this together.
I think we’re gonna need a video of trev explaining how to make the m5 reliable…
As a Brit, that likes pocket rockets, the Elise is where it's at.. But, the Merc price tag wins it for me!
He ended up selling it for a loss after all the repairs. C5 zo6 is dope. My father in law had one. Dumb ass sold it for a crossfire.
The Jag F Type is underrated. Its fun, good looking and around 40K for a 2018.
If you get the Aston, your going to be paying more to fix it then actual value of your car
Great Video guys! The new logo looks great.
That new logo is very serious but it actually suits good💙💛
Good picks , think the Z06 would be my choice for the reliability factor above all else . Viper and then the Lotus . Guessing if someone was a talented mechanic then the parts for everything else could be ,,, let’s say not too bad . Everything else on the list looks like a foreign car repair shops bread and butter
The SL55 AMG is crazy 🔥 I’m more into the CL55 because of it looks different
I did buy a sportcar back in November 2013.
A Fiat Barchetta with chameleon paint job (a multicolor paint job that changes depend on the angle).
That car got a lot of attention.
And I sold the Fiat back in July 2016. I do not regret that purchase.

This video was great! Loved the AMG and my whole channel is built on this concept bahaha. Thanks for the work
🤣🤣Dude just called an R8, a mid-engine VW. Lol! He's right, when I had an Audi, I used to buy VW parts for it and they were cheaper.
The only reason I clicked and liked this video was the preview, I hear you say "..it's Florida in a supercar..... and it's screaming at everyone in the beach-side bar, with a little white powder on it's nose" GOLD
I think a " super car killer"
Would be a b6 s4,
They basically have an early r8 motor,
And can come with 6 speed in a sedan.
With a few miles you can get them for under 10,000
Thats because of the 12k repair bill on the timing belt

Was this really made 3 months ago...? Used car prices are through the roof in every conceivable category.
I know it’s not considered a super car but I think the CTS-V would have been good for this list
The Cts-v is a beast of a car.
I had a new SL55 in 2003 and in the shop more than my garage. Now more than a decade later, I have an R231 SL400 and it's totally reliable with no issues. Perhaps you should look at the earlier of the last of the SL's with retractable hardtop. Not as 'broke guys car', but as a future classic since the new R232 is rag-top only and really less comfortable than the one I have now. cheers!
I just seen a Lamborghini Gallardo in great condition go for 50 thousand in Alabama 2012 with I think 20.000 thousand miles. Sounds like a good deal to me at least 🤷🏽♂️
When I first graduated college, the Elise was my "attainable dream car".
I love the new logo. But I’m pretty sure a lot of people unsubscribe. But sometimes u gotta stand for something. Or fall for everything.
I think only one guy in Russia might unsub, pretty sure the rest of the sane world is with Ukraine.
The “you can’t afford a Ferrari jacket” made me actually laugh out loud😂
i knew the SL55 was gonna take the cake
It's such a deal.
@@IdealMediaChannel totally agree.. best supercar bargain rn
"Florida, the Super Car" is the best title I've ever heard for the Viper. The same can be said for the older gen Corvettes.
As a previous owner of a base 996.2 Carrera 911. I agree. Definitly gets attention. only had 320hp and 0-60 was 4.9 seconda but top speed was 177......which is supercar in my opinion. Actually bought it over my other choice which is alao on this list, a 03/04 Corvette C5 Z06.
It isn’t the sharpest on a back road or the fastest in a straight line, but its fast and agile enough to have a good time in, not to mention the Beyoncé under the hood ;)
Im sure people would question the handling first and foremost, to which i say there’s quite a few of different adjustable coilover setups from different brands like H&R, Bilstein, and a few others.
With that wall of text, sounds like you're trying to convince yourself of your poor decision making skills.
@@klowenstein483 if i hated the car, I wouldn’t be recommending it
Imagine making an replica of SL 65 AMG from SL 55 AMG.
It would be cheaper just to get an SL65.

I have an idea for a video. Run what ya brung. Highlight viewers rides. appreciate what you got and viewers that turned their daily driver into something unique.
"For broke boys" - budget 50k
One of the best videos this year👏🏾
Who is BROKE and have 18k to put in a car 💀 tired of those clickbait titles
You can get good sports cars for that price like used Porche Boxter (I prefer the Porche Cayman which is a non cabriolet version of the Boxter but they are to new to be in that price range).
Well call it perspective, 18k for a supercar is not supercar money. So yeah it is 'cheap', or for broke boys
I would buy a 2nd or 3rd gen Dodge Viper. That's only if Mopar is still making parts for them since the Viper was discontinued in 2017.
I’ll never sell my Honda 😂
I am buying a 2006 V6 6Speed Honda Accord Coupe for 1k from a co worker.
K24 is god.
I like the profile picture, freedom for Ukraine.
My friend has a C4 with an LS7, a T56, and a lot of C5/C6 upgrades. It is the most fun car I’ve driven other than my own 550hp 350Z track car.
Big opportunity missed with the Bentley Continental GTC probably the best bang for buck in terms of looks/power
These aren’t broke boy cars bro
“Cars shaped like triangles are always fast”
Legendary quote
What about cars for *super* broke boys? These are nice, but way out of most budgets.
Like I said, there’s not really a supercar for less than this. Plenty of sports cars though!
9:11 Damn bro... a jacket!!?😂😂😂😂
Cool car, but people don't see a 90s Nissan and think "Supercar."
The SL55 AMG is definitely my favorite car on the list.
Another car that would be pretty cool is the jaguar F type kind a looks like a supercar, and the V8 is amazing
Ah yes. Newton’s 4th law of motion: cars shaped like triangles, are ALWAYS fast
Nailed it ☺️
Missing the M6 V10 - that ticks every box, and its under 20k all day
Such an underrated car
Don't be fooled by the low purchase prices, they cost a lot to run, especially an SL55. The Elise is the best option, just don't bend the suspension mounts or ding the body shells. I know, I've had both.
Having a manual is not required in some situations if you like doing drag races, newer automatics can be faster than their manual counterpart. This is not the 1970s automatic transmissions these days are pretty awesome.
