The most lucid and educational instructor on UA-cam. Please keep up the good work and post more tutorials!
Haha so true! I’ve given up guitar multiple times had it for about 3 years now and had no hope, Thought I just wasn’t talented enough even though everyone always told me it takes time and consistency, I was just too slow and smoke on the water was the only little riff I could do with 2 fingers at that, It didn’t matter how long I practiced I would just leave my guitar on the stand after a long failed session and go multiple days without playing. This time I returned to the guitar and have only been practicing 3 days and I’ve learned the full star spangled banner it might be super easy but I’m confident and happy now that I know something and super motivated and excited to continue learning more!... And not to brag or anything but I used 4 fingers while playing it😏. The problem wasn’t time I spent a lot of time playing until I’d frustrate myself and give up, The problem was I wasn’t consistent. The only difference now is I’m using the dots on the side of the guitar to memorize where I have to place my fingers at on the fret for the right note it was so hard just looking at the frets and individually counting each one to find 9🤣

Finally thanks to your vid I can now play it. Thank you ever so much and good luck or with your channel something i dunno, I am just very grateful.
That sounds very similar to my experience with it too! Still listen to it days on end but I've since branched out into the small branch of the whole album and I love it! Definitely my introduction into metal (I know it's not really a metal song). I've loved listening to this song so much that I wanted to learn how to sing and play it. I've never played guitar before. okay. So I learnt this song today (first song I ever learnt) and my boyfriend came home (he has been playing for years) and was in shock on how accurate I got it down and asked "Wtf, when did you start picking up the guitar?"...... TODAY! Thanks dude.
An advise from a beginner to beginners sometimes im about to give up but I remember when I was beginning and see a little difference and that make me understand it's not easy but the more I practice, the more I get better, we can do it. At the beginning I couldn't even understand some chords and I even put the video in slow motion to see the movement and even with that after I learned the move I realized I forgot to do something but that make me feel good because I finally did it so don't give up just go part by part don't try to learn the whole song at once make sure you can play each part don't have to be fast but make sure you know how to before advance. If you feel frustrated just stop for a while or try another song more easy because maybe you need to train your fingers then come back and try again but slowly. And don't forget, your brain need build new roads, that is called plasticity so practice is the key. Oh by the way I almost finish this first part I just need to practice the minute 17. After I make sure I can play it nice I'll go for the part 2.
Nah dude, that's how you learn. You break it up into small sections, practice over and over, learn it, then plug them as you go along. You got this! 💪🏻

@MartyMusic I found you in the vast world of UA-cam and I’m happy I did! Your videos are amazing and have got me wanting to learn everything you have to offer! I’m 47yrs old and just started playing less than a month now. I’m loving the fact that I can hear the melody from my guitar with just a few strumming. Makes me happy that I took on this challenge. Thank you for all you have to offer and hope you continue to put out new content regularly. Best wishes!!
This was the first song I tried to learn years ago. I’m back into guitar, and back here to finish what I started

@Zuza Zora i do that all the time I try to find a easier way to get the same sound
If you have the natural ability to do that, there is literally zero shame lol. I wouldn’t be able to find workaround, not knowledgeable enough.

It’s all practice. I’ve been playing as a hobby for years, but finger style has always been my Achilles heel. You teach everything so well. You’re the best man!!
I discovered Marty years ago when he was new. I think he even had a different UA-cam channel. I just play here and there. He’s taught me so many strumming patterns making the guitar fun even for someone who barely plays. Thanks Marty. I can’t believe 10 MILLION views on this now. Good job. Great teaching.

I bought my first guitar few weeks ago. Was so excited to learn then life happened. This is my first song i tried playing and almost gave up at that first hammer on. I lost motivation. After 3 weeks im back on it and magically, everything now makes sense and sounds good.
Dont give up! Do the damn thing!
You are very good!! your explanations and slow movements are unsurpassed! one of the best teachers ever!
This song might be the very reason why I listen to metal to this day. Listened to song for days on end after discovering it and from this very song slowly started branching out to more metal.
Really enjoying just playing and also learning a little more of this track

But Marty is a very good teacher and I learned a few songs from him, thank you Marty! And for the beginners out there, don’t give up, you may think that you’re never gonna be able to play guitar but trust me it gets easier with time! Just keep at it! 😁

Hey Marty great tutorial I never thought I'd be able to play it this fast and thank you for that but I was wondering could you possibly make a short that is a tutorial of what you do at 17:15 to 17:45 that end bit of this intro it would be greatly appreciated after a couple weeks of practicing im able to do the parts before that pretty well thanks again marty
I'm disappointed too with this great melodic part not tutoried :(
I checked the part 2 but no explanation either...
Let's go for slow mo :p
I must agree, should walk you through the barre chords at the end.
I agree, can you please make something, where you explain it? I'd be glad to play nothing nothing else matters without missing part, thanks🎸

okay. So I learnt this song today (first song I ever learnt) and my boyfriend came home (he has been playing for years) and was in shock on how accurate I got it down and asked "Wtf, when did you start picking up the guitar?"...... TODAY! Thanks dude.
this did not happen
Cole Amodeo yeah i know right this song is not possible to learn in a single day never mind first song learned ever
Living Bruh it could be the first song ever learned but definitely not in one day...especially not with the bar chords played later in the intro..
there’s no way you learned this song in one day with that day being your first day of playing ever
Thank you I needed this a beginner.
i swear to god i have never heard a more perfect acoustic cover than you playing that one mate holy shit
Dziękujemy.
I'm so bad i had to divide part 1 into 2 parts
You're not bad my dude, the song is just that hard
Me too, just keep at it, you'll eventually get it. Some grasp it quicker, some slower, we all have the ability to play it.
Nah dude, that's how you learn. You break it up into small sections, practice over and over, learn it, then plug them as you go along. You got this! 💪🏻
hey! me too I learnt first part and practiced it for 3 days then i continued! now i put both together
That is literally how practice works
