No one but Gary Moore could make the guitar sound so sad and when words failed him the guitar spoke. In this song he holds back so to speak but on the other hand every note is played with such deep emotion. Lucky i got to see him live twice.
Old-timers like Albert Collins and Albert King used to bust on Gary Moore for being so virtuosic in his playing. They told him he should simplify and stop playing so many notes. (So he was holding a lot back on this track.) The fact is he was playing so many notes because he was that talented, but they couldn't handle it. They didn't want him to show them up since they had a history going back to the 1930s being the Blues Masters. Then you have Gary Moore all of these decades later showing them up with his incredible speed chops and even deeper feeling. Such a legend. RIP Gary Moore.
You've opened a can of worms with Gary! All his blues albums are fantastic. You really need to see him play too. So much emotion. Next should be "Parisienne Walkways" live. R.I.P. Gary.
Gary Moore is at the top of my list of greatest guitar player I've ever heard. The soul he plays with is second to none. He's a very inspiring player. The best live performance I've every seen by any guitar player on youtube is 'The Messiah will Come Again'. His bag when it come guitar proficiency is vast and on full display, if you get around to checking out the song.
Gary definitely had the gift...so expressive and soo moving...a true master in every sense of the word...Loved him(RIP)...You guys quickly recognized the language of the Blues...written in a heart felt language all can understand...
Gary Moore was also in a short lived power trio called BBM for Baker Bruce Moore as in Ginger Baker on drums and Jack Bruce on bass and vocals both of whom were originally in Cream with Eric Capton.
My favourite track off that album is "Glory Days", love how Jack and Gary trade vocals on that one. It did suffer from sort of rewriting Cream songs too closely, though.
Thin Lizzy with Gary Moore "Do Anything You Want "🔥 Not sure why this was not a US hit Had this been played on MTV it would have been huge!! Phil Lynott & Gary are a match made in Irish heaven. Shoren Begorahh
Actually there are 2 Gary Moores - the one for the quiet moments and the one for the loud moments - I like them both. If I want quiet I play the Still Got the Blues LP, if I want loud I listen to We Want Moore - Live - Many great tracks with Murder in the skies being my favourite. Very sad, what he's singing about - the Russians shooting a Korean passenger plane with over 260 victims in 1983 - but with awesome guitar playing by Gary, I like, when I hear his fingers sliding over the strings 🤘
What a great reaction, guys. Gary (RIP) was truly one of the greatest rock guitarists ever to walk the earth. He was a protégé of Peter Green and his feel and touch are hard to better. Also check out his jazz fusion chops with Colosseum II. Not to mention his own mega track, The Loner, another instrumental that has some of the most amazing high bent notes ever heard.
Actually watching Gary put his heart and soul into his music is also an experience. Watch his live performances of 'Still Got the Blues' (This one: ua-cam.com/video/_m7NVFhbx1I/v-deo.html ), 'The Messiah will Come Again' (This: ua-cam.com/video/7k07j7LcLqw/v-deo.html ), and 'Parisienne Walkways' (This: ua-cam.com/video/FiuQ1EbrT94/v-deo.html ). One of the all-time greats, gone too soon and sadly missed.
I always thought this song was Gary's tribute to The Messiah Will Come Again by Roy Buchanan which he also performed live. Great track and reaction. Thanks Nick & Lex.
Second time i saw Gary live he did The Messiah Will Come Again as the last encore and what a encore! He played with lots of improvisation and even though it was 33(!) years ago i still remember it like it was yesterday. Gary did 4 songs, 3 his own 1 TWCA, that are kinda "cousins"! Besides TMWC it's Pariesienne Walkways, Spanish Guitar and Nothing's the Same. So yes it seems like Roy Buchanan had quite the influence on Gary.
@@danielolson5378 I'd definitely add The Loner to that list, which was written by Max Middleton. And there was also a very overlooked instrumental from the Dark Days in Paradise sessions called "Beasts of Burden".
Thanks for this. It takes me back to 1971 seeing Gary Moore in the blues trio Skid Row at The Gin Mill Club in Godalming (UK), with the bass guitarist flexing the neck of his bass to bend notes!!
Hi guys, love Gary Moore. The 1st solo album I bought by him was "Victims of the Future" in '83, and what an album that is. If you want emotion then even way back then, with a ballad called "Empty Rooms" from that album, Gary really gets to you with his playing. I love the fact that he learned to play guitar with his strings so tight he could barely bend them ... then after years of practice he got his guitar tuned to a reasonable strength and from then on could bend further than any other guitarist, so when he bends to hit those high notes ... he really makes it cry and you along with it. Great reaction and we need to hear Moore !!! 🤨 Byeee Jim X
After Thin Lizzy, Moore went in a hard rock direction for a while, before returning to his blues roots. He played with former Cream members Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker for a while in B.B.M., and you can see he and Bruce playing Cream material on UA-cam with Gary Husband on drums. There's also a DVD of a concert he did using a Stratocaster, which was a Jimi Hendrix tribute.
Gary Moore in the studio and Gary Moore live is two different animals. As many have stated, do "The Messiah will come again" live from Montreux jazz festival. And if you're doing "Still got the blues", do the live version. Saw him loads of times live. Best guitarist to ever walked the earth. Always gave 100 pst and then some.
Roy Buchanan is considered the greatest guitarist ever. No Pedals, no Gadgets, just bending and shedding like no one else. You should give him a try. You will see why he is a legend and innovator. Listen to his version of Hey Joe, The Messiah Will Come Again, In the Heat of Battle, Roy's Bluz: Roy was one of the best rock and blues guitarists of our time and known as the master of the Telecaster. He was often called “the world’s best unknown guitarist.” Guitar Player magazine has rated him as having one of the “50 Greatest Tones of All Time.” Read any Roy Buchanan bio, and you will find quoted praises from Jeff Beck, "I wish I had his talent", Gary Moore (who adored him and played The Messiah as a homage to him), SRV ("I have every record he's ever made, and still can't figure it out") some of the best guitar slingers that have walked this planet all say the same thing. Please play more Gary Moore - Parisienne Walkways and Still Got The Blues; both have lyrics with interludes of guitar solos that are otherworldly. He paints a picture in your mind with his voice and music. Great stuff - keep up the hard work; y'all are greatly appreciated.
I agree with Cary with the sensation that The Prophet is kind of a tribute to Roy Buchanan’s The Messiah will come again which he recorded on his last rock album After the war in 1989, but majestically played it in his Still got the Blues tour in 1990, definitely a must listen! Gary was influenced by many guitarists, so he definitely “took” something from Jeff Beck as well, whom he knew and liked a lot as well. That’s why you may hear something that’s close to Jeff, but also Jimi Hendrix and a lot of blues guitarists. I always say that with Gary it’s the other way around when they say the guitar is often the extension of the guitarist, with Gary it definitely was that HE was the extension of the guitar and you can see it, and yes also hear it, in every song he played. When you do a live, and video, performance of him you will understand it! And there are even better examples as Still got the Blues, namely Separate Ways in 1992, Parisienne Walkways in 2010, Empty Rooms in 1987 and so on and on…
Thin Lizzy with Gary Moore "Do Anything You Want "🔥 Not sure why this was not a US hit Had this been played on MTV it would have been huge!! For me the combo of Phil Lynott & Gary Moore was his best work.
Gary is one of the GUITAR GREATS! His sustain is legendary! In fact I had a shirt made that said SUSTAIN IS GAIN!!! I nominate Parisienne Walkway by Gary Moore to be played soon.
Saw him when he was with Thin Lizzy in the late 70s , didn’t realize all the time the absolute master I was watching, I was just young enjoying a rock concert, thanks again!
If you check out “back on the streets” Album, a great version of Lizzy’s Don’t believe a word by Gary with Phil Lynott on the track starts really slow with Phil on Bass and progresses into a full blown rock track, you will love it 😊
There is a lot to say about Gary Moore. But then again not. Because he lets his guitar speak to you. The only thought that pops up is if that guitar had to go to the IC considering all the bending and the force that comes with that. Thank you for another great reaction and if you like. There's a deep rabbit hole to dig in guys. Enjoy!
Hey you two, after accumulating two hundred albums on vinyl, still got the blues was my first CD purchase. It's still one of my favorites. I resurrected on old sun burst Led Paul with a broken neck in honor of his passing. Check out the UA-cam video Parisienne Walkways Live Montreux 2010. Lex...have you been practicing?
OMG I nearly spit out my coffee when Lex said "All the different versions!" 🤣🤣🤣 Wow what a cool piece, I'm only familiar with one Gary Moore song. Thanks for sharing, glad you're back Narvik!
He really gets to let loose on his live videos, and sometimes throws some old Jeff Beck licks into his solos. He was influenced a lot by Roy Buchanan, and original Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green. He bought Peter Green's Les Paul, now owned by Kirk Hammett. Check out Roy Buchanan's "The Messiah Will Come Again", which Gary Moore covers, for an example of someone who's volume swells influenced Beck, Moore, and others.
Highly underrated, no one reacts to these Gary songs, i also advise you to listen to 'seperate ways' live version, and if you really feel like it there is footage of his last ever concert, noticably a he had a very hard time performing, but his guitar work is absolutely insane there.
It's Gary Moore, so the guitar playing is great, but it's not a track I would have chosen. For some of us who followed Gary's rock career in the 1980's, Still Got the Blues was an ending rather than a beginning. I don't think any recording can convey the intensity Gary brought to the live stage. He was certainly the loudest guitar player I've ever witnessed. The live video of The Messiah Will Come Again is hard to match, or the performance of Red House from the Strat Pack concert. His live version of Shapes of Things, more Jeff Beck homage, is also spectacular.
I agree my favorite Gary era is the '80s although i love this song. Saw him live 1989 the After the War tour which he claimed would be last time he would do hardrock a promise it turned out he couldn't keep. Then i saw him 1990 when he played blues along with Albert Collins. On the second concert he did a killer version of The Messiah Will Come Again.
@@danielolson5378 If you saw him play The Messiah.... you were very lucky judging by the video filmed at Montreux. I saw him on the Wild Frontier and Run for Cover tours when his success was probably at its peak. I thought he made a great team with Neil Carter.
@@danielolson5378 Neil's voice was also extremely similar to Gary's, which worked so well because in the 80s, Gary didn't want to sing all the way through. But since Neil could play rhythm guitar and keyboards, he wasn't just standing around on stage during instrumentals or the tracks that Gary sang himself like Charlie Huhn and John Sloman before him. On *We Want Moore*, it's a fun exercise and try to pick out which vocal parts Gary did and which Neil did. After a while it becomes clear, but you really have to pay attention!
Gary was friends with George Harrison and played Royal Albert Hall shows as backing guitar with him. George also enlisted Gary to play on the Traveling Wilburys second album for some guitar fills. Another great player gone too soon.
Eric Clapton did "Still Got the Blues" as a tribute, so that may be what Lex has heard. You should definitely hear a cross-section of his work. "The Prophet" is a good track to introduce Gary, but his versatility can't really be understood until you've heard several of his albums - from the jazz rock of the 70s to the very heavy rock of the 80s (including duets with Ozzy Osbourne, Phil Lynott and Glenn Hughes) to the raw blues of his later years (even doing Son House's "Sundown" as a solo track). The real wild card is "Dark Days in Paradise", an album full of surprises, and *if ever an album deserved a full series of reaction vids, it's that one*. You haven't lived until you've heard his singing and playing on "Like Angels" and "Where Did We Go Wrong", not to mention the incredible interplay with Guy Pratt on "What Are We Here For". He was really a total artist. I think "The Prophet" was meant as a sort of sequel to "The Messiah Will Come Again", the Roy Buchanan instrumental that Gary did in 1989 and then played on tour in 1990 (with Don Airey on keys in both cases) - that video is just stupendous. He's really getting somewhere I've hardly seen or heard anyone ever go. Transcendental, devastating stuff. And before that, there was "The Loner", originally from a Cozy Powell record and played by Clem Clempson - once an homage to Jeff Beck - but Gary sure made it his own! Live versions go up to 20 minutes.
Glad you did some GM. Lots his solo stuff from late 80s on is so good. The emotion just drips from his guitar. After this your ready for ‘The Messiah Will Come Again'. By the way Still Got The Blues is Gary's song but what I didn't know until I did some searching is that . Moore was ordered to pay Jürgen Winter, leader of Jud's Gallery, an undisclosed amount in damages from a German Court. It ruled that the guitar solo on the song was plagiarized from a 1974 instrumental recording called "Nordrach" (named after Nordrach, a small river in the central Black Forest) by the German progressive rock band Jud's Gallery from Offenburg.
You have to do "The Loner" studio version... it's along the same vibe as this one but longer and some amazing licks thrown in along the way. I also agree with others' suggestions of "Parisienne Walkways" live and the live version of ‘The Messiah Will Come Again’.
You guys should react to some stuff from his hard rock era too. Anything off of Corridors of Power or Victims of the Future is well worth listening to.
Nick n Lex: Beautiful reactions. When you listen to "Still Got the Blues", please listen to the version from Gary's 'Blues Alive' album from 1993; to many, it is THE definitive version (there is also a video of the performance--shot in a small club--on YT: ua-cam.com/video/0o7BwblazjQ/v-deo.html ) . Primarily a keyboardist, I like to play guitar to give myself a creative break from the black and whites, as the approach to the 2 instruments are different yet so complimentary. I first heard Gary with Colosseum II back in the '70's, but when he released 'Still Got the Blues', I found my guitar tone by emulating him. He was such a fabulous artist (RIP) Thank you for your videos.
Please please listen to THE MESSIAH WILL COME AGAIN live n for some metal listen to WHITE KNUCKLES/ROCKIN' N' ROLLIN, studio version of his G FORCE album 😎
Another fabulous reaction. Since it's Valentines Day, my dog Darmok pictured here wants to know if Marley will be his Valentine? I can vouch for Darmok's sincerity in this matter. Twice I've had to pull him off the bus going to Denver. His dream is to one day meet Marley. And yes, he'll pick up the check.
Hi, MJ1...Greetings from Germany. Wuff, what a cutie, your Darmok. My little pal Sammy, pictured here, a Havanais/Bichon, would be 17 years old this April. Dude, for any illogical nonsens you have "month". Leave us alone with this "month" crap, especially with Black History Month. Do you really wanna relegate their history to a month.? Pretty arrogant. So according to the motto: "Let's do something for our good reputation, regarding the "Black America". We are declaring February "Black History Month" and everyone will admire us, the USA, again. And then we can continue to disregard the Civil Rights Act unchallenged....

@@delorangeade Can't argue that Gary and Neil Carter was a perfect match since they co-wrote Gary's biggest 80's hits.
They did That Kind of Woman together on the Still Got the Blues album
Live versions go up to 20 minutes.
still got the blues and Parisienne walkways are also great tracks
Uno de mis guitarristas de blues favorito!! Mucho feeling para tocar!! Un grande de verdad!! Saludos chicos 🇦🇷
I can recommend a piece of music performed by one of the all time best Blues Harmonica players,Sonny Boy Williamson II, called"Help Me"
Please react to Still got the Blues, in which he sings amazingly, my absolute fave. This was pretty awesome too!
He's playing 'The Greener' guitar here, given to him by Peter Green of early Fleetwood Mac fame. Kirk Hammett now owns it.
it's a nice song to hear, for the next time there's no harm in trying the acoustic guitar version of Gery Moore's reaction covered by alip ba ta
You have to do "The Loner" studio version... it's along the same vibe as this one but longer and some amazing licks thrown in along the way. I also agree with others' suggestions of "Parisienne Walkways" live and the live version of ‘The Messiah Will Come Again’.
like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, … how many likes did you say? Cheers guys 😎👍🍁
The Messiah Will Come Again and The Story Of Isaac by the Great Roy Buchanan are very similar and Great.
The Supernatural is another great GM track!!
Originally by Peter Green (recorded with John Mayall) and a big influence on Carlos Santana, but yeah, Gary's version is great too.
You guys should react to some stuff from his hard rock era too. Anything off of Corridors of Power or Victims of the Future is well worth listening to.
Not to mention "Led Clones" with Ozzy Osbourne - who said heavy rock can't be funny? "I saw you on the radio, I heard them on the video"!
Great guitar face Lex (& lovely hair too, of course).😊
please do Still got the blues and The Messiah Will Come Again. Gary is the GOAT in my opinion!
With a bleeding heart and a deep pain in my soul i had to let him cross the Rainbowbridge, three weeks ago. I wish you and Darmok all the best and alot of healthness. Stay safe & PEACE
@@stefanstock953 I'm so sorry. Few things in life are more painful than losing your pup best friend. I've always wondered why it's so hard?
What I've come up with is this:
Even the best human that walked the planet is a mixture of good and bad traits...
But dogs are ALL good.
We are sad for our loss but also because a loving creature who made this crazy world a better place has now left us.
The memories will never die. The lessons they taught us never go away.
They will always be with us.
@@MJ1 damn, i just wasn't prepered for such an answer, so beautyful written, lost a few tears on that one. Thank you so much, means alot to me. Cause i know getting such an hearttouching condolence from a kind soul, like yours, is sadwise very rare in those days. I'm more an animal guy, i don't really care for most humans. And i'm too sensitive for this cruelty mankind all over the world. Its heart breaking for me to see how animals are treaten, abused, missused, tortured and killed, for peoples entertainment, by sick 'Traditions' (..Toro, ole' ), in the name of Sport and even just for fun. Just look at those hypocrites who celebrate rescue dogs as heros. Cause they safe peoples life by founding them after Earthquakes. But in daily life dogs are worthless and have to expirience animal cruelty from the same people.
Sorry, i drifted apart. I just wanted to say that such lovely and kind people like you gives me a little hope for our next Generations, for all animals and for mother nature on this wonderful Planet.. thanx again, bless you and your love ones & have a peaceful day☺

My friends welcome ! You've just discovered the greatest guitar player that ever lived. My opinion of course :D

Hi from Montreal...Check out Roy Buchanan cover of Hey Joe.

The guitar sometimes sounds like a zamfir (Panflöte).

The song isn't bad, but it's not one of the best, among the instrumentals it has 2 that you have to hear, "The Loner and The Messiah will come again"
Brilliant stuff, thank you.
Gary was in my humble opinion the best guitarist ever to walk this earth.
Please react to Gary Moore The Messiah Will Come Again.

Hope that you will react to this.

Gary Moore was originally meant to be a marathon, then I saw that you didn't open the marathon requests. Maybe next time.
you now need to dive into the hardest working musician on the planet...even after his brush with death....Walter Trout

Love Gary Moore but
Black History Month ?
Curtis Mayfield- Superfly ( 72) 🔥
Groundbreaking / Legendary
Funky Masterpiece
Dude, for any illogical nonsens you have "month". Leave us alone with this "month" crap, especially with Black History Month. Do you really wanna relegate their history to a month.? Pretty arrogant. So according to the motto: "Let's do something for our good reputation, regarding the "Black America". We are declaring February "Black History Month" and everyone will admire us, the USA, again. And then we can continue to disregard the Civil Rights Act unchallenged....
Not tge gest garys album
