@@TheJLPShow which is why i called bs precisely. Listen i may not play lately....BUT i spend in my youth some years playing CLASSICAL guitar which is very different by what people describe as acoustic and also from Flamengo guitar we see here . In case you did not know as you play electric and electric usually is played with a pick, guitar in music theory is classified as a polyphonic instrument like piano is , in contrast for example to a violin which is considered monophonic as by it's strings placement and geometry the bow can only simultaneously touch 2 adjacent strings maximum. In guitar when one finger plucks like in Flamengo and classical as well those who use fingers in acoustic, he had the option to use thump on bass string and 3 fingers on bottom strings simultaneously, striking a chord, as well play sequentially by strumming which is called an arpeggio. Pick players can only do the later. Regardless of how fast you play (and trust me is not as fast as tremolo technique like for example in piece Recuerdos de la Alhambra) you are limited to 1 note at a time sequentially. And no i am not biased against electric guitar, heck i am a metalhead and enjoy a solo as much as a good riff, but i know the limitations and can distinguish. If you want to understand classical guitar try find anything played by arguably the greatest classical player who was Andres Segovia. And for flamenco try Paco de Lucia or alternatively another great one, Paco Pena
I saw him play in Germany, and he ended up playing for about three and a half hours. Because the crowd simply would not let him leave. He did something like NINE encores. Coming from a genius like Al Di Meola, that's ridiculously high praise. I love Paco's works. Ever since Billy Sheehan mentioned him in an instructional videon as an inspiration, I've loved Paco's unbelievable talent and musicality.
If you think his dexterity is impressive..... Look at this: "Paco de Lucia" DIDNT KNOW how to read or write music, tabletures, etc.... (you can search it online) He always played "by ear" , all his full life. I think this makes even more increidble and magnific as guitarist......... He always played with him heart and soul. Hello from Spain :)
That's not necessarily uncommon, many great manouch jazz guitarist don't know how to read music (Django, Birelli, Stochelo , Angelo debarre...). Paco is probably the best guitarist that have ever played. I always laugh when rolling stone magazine put Hendrix or else in the first place of any "best guitarist of all time" list. What a joke :)
@@laurent9752 And even more, Rolling Stone magazine didn't include him in their list of 250 greatest guitarists, hehehe. It's a really joke..you're right. It's obviously an untrustful list .
RIP”.

that MAGNIFICENT bongo player was Pepe Ebano, from Peru, and he was a master who played with the best around the world.Paco de Lucia was a revolutionary and introduce new elements to Flamenco, like the bongos.Another thing to notice is that this performance was mostly improvised, because Paco de Lucia plays this song a different way anytime that play it.This is considered a historic moment on spanish tv.
I readily believe that this performance made history in Spanish tv. And yes, Paco plays it different every time. I have read, that he was not even fluent in reading notes. That might explain it, all in his mind, heart and fingers…
Si dejo de tocarla un mes, lo nota el público" Paco de Lucía is an absolute legend, there will no longer be guitarists like him. He said that as a child, he practiced the guitar 14 hours every day. Those numbers today are unthinkable, it is an absolute beast. And he left us one of the most powerful quotes (for me) about perseverance and practice: "If I stop playing the guitar for one day, I notice it. If I stop playing it for a week, my friends notice it. If I stop playing it for a month, the public notices it"
Master of masters in the art of playing the Spanish guitar. There’s a story where Sting was asked in a tv show what had he been doing during the summer and he replied. I’ve been learning how to play the guitar with the best guitarist in the world. The interviewer said a bunch of very important names and he said: none of them. Paco de Lucia he said. The guy didn’t even know who he was.
Brian Adams was also in Malibu trying to organize the recording of his song "to really love a woman" and asked who the best guitarist was to propose collaborating on his song. They told him that the best was Paco de Lucia, so Brian Adams called his house in Spain to propose working together, but they told him that he couldn't talk to him because he was traveling. And Brian said: can you give me the phone number of where Paco is? and they answered yes, of course, it's in that hotel in Malibu... In the end, Paco de Lucia was a few meters away from Brian Adams in the hotel across the street, and they played that song together.
Yeap I am Cuban Paco de Lucia was not only well know in Spain he was know in alll the latinoamarica and what you say about Sting is truth...the guy got blow out by him when Paco de Lucia die...it was a sad day..I remember someone say in FB ..when he new was know... that Paco die one guy say.......Covert your guitars with a black clothe the master of the Flmenco music have die..i t was a sad day....He was this type of musicians that you think is going to live for ever...Even in spanish culture and latin culture when you want to say you are confuse..You say : Estoy entre dos aguas...!!! Emotions pasion...I was a kid when he came with this and he blow everyone away...
I NEVER get tired of seeing people get speechless admiring our beloved, our greatest, Paco de Lucía. He is the peak of Spanish flamenco guitar playing, and we are so honoured to be alive to listen to his heritage. God bless him in the sky.
My father is the director of that music program in the Spanish tv and me, as a child, I had de luck to assist to the studio recording a few afternoons. Pure Magic.
@@cayrips If I am not mistaken he said that on social media when Paco de Lucía died in 2014, but 10 years has passed from that so good luck finding the original post
Amongst many other, Rolling Stones Keith Richards once said: " There are only two or three guitar players that can be considered legends, and on top of them all, is Paco de Lucia"
Here in France, he's had a great career and is so loved and recognize as a tremendous, maby the best guitarist ever, and personnaly i looove this song, i listen to it from time to time... as a percussionist, i love how he plays with the tempo!
My grandfather was a neighbour of Paco de Lucia and a close friend of his father. Paco practised the guitar all the time, even in the wee hours of the morning you could hear him playing the guitar over and over again, accompanied by his father as he taught him rhythm. He was and is unrepeatable, but in his music our flamenco legacy is repeated over and over again, the perfect fusion of Arabic and Andalusian harmony, which the south has.
Believe it or not, Rolling Stone thinks there are 250 guitarists who are better than Paco De Lucia. I’m still waiting for someone to make it make sense to me.
He's our pride and joy in Spain, he really is. I wish he was more recognized internationally, although I'm pretty sure that professional guitarists have at least heard of him. There's a metro station in Madrid named after him, of the newest stations, and that made me very happy
Well, you're right. He started very early. I saw an interview with him on the Spanish TV, many years ago. The interviewer was insisting so much on this "talent" thing, Paco got kind of annoyed, and he cut the interviewer off at the first chance saying: "Yes, you're right, I've been blessed with this natural talent. And because of this natural talent, since when I was 5 years old, I spend up to 14 hours PER DAY practicing the instrument". 😅🙂🤦🏼♂ If you want to get a better glimpse of his incredible talent, you should watch ANY of his videos in which he plays either "Bulerias", "Almoraima", or some other classical flamenco... Guitar solo, I mean. THAT is actually something to break one's brain apart. 😁 And if you want him playing with another INCREDIBLE guitar playing, check "Mediterranean Sundance", both with Al di Meola or with Al and John McLaughlin. There's a number of those performances live videos. 🙂 Another great guitarist that is emerging recently is a young Italian guy named Matteo Mancuso. His fingerpicking style is unique, and he's been praised by a number of great guitarists, including Al di Meola, Steve Vai, and others. Check any of his live videos, or the official music videos from his most recent album "The Journey". 🙂 I just have a limitless admiration for these guys. 🤩 Loved your reaction to one of my favourite songs. It's always a joy to watch you reacting to something really good. You seem to PERCEIVE it at many levels. 🙂 See you next time!
Paco lives in those young guitar gods. We can hear his massive influence in Marcin, Matteo, Tim and other insane talented musicians. They take their inspiration from absolute bests.
People usually oppose talent and practice. It's a falacy. Talent determines how far practice can take you. It doesn't matter if it's art, science or a sport, the hard work is a constant for both the talented and untalented.
Audience member: “How did you get so good?” Andy McKee: “Practice.” (Laughter) Andy McKee: “No. Really.” There are some natural talents a person can have but nothing beats dedication and work. And Paco is the living embodiment of this. I would have been annoyed as well 😄.
Theres a buleria he plays with Camaron De Isla that is absolutely incredible. Ive never witnessed any human being in any endevour have such mastery as Paco.
This is not the album version, but a television performance in which Paco de Lucía improvises a good part of the song, with excellent results. Awesome.
Paco is one of my old guitarheroes. I remember "Mediterranean sundance" he playd with Al DiMeola and John McLaughlin. Stunning. Paco was one of the best. Great guy. Thank you.
I've been playing flamenco guitar for 20 years now. When I watch or hear a great player play a falseta I don't have the dexterity for yet, I can still understand *how* they play it. To this day, I still can't tell how he played the one at 7:31 here, even if we have clear video of his hands playing it. Paco de Lucia is a legend amongst men, it's hard to not become emotional when listening to him playing his music.
My father worked for IBM from the 1950s thru the 1980s & our family was transferred to Germany in the mid-1970s. By that time he had earned multiple weeks of vacation so we took 3 of them & drove to Spain for a lovely holiday. One of the campgrounds we stayed at had a birthday party for the owner & we were introduced to this kind of Spanish guitar music. When we asked if there was an artist they could recommend for us to buy a record of, they told us of Paco de Lucia. We got the Fuente y Caudal album & I have been a fan ever since. Idk if you can stand to listen to another of his songs w/out your brain exploding (you came pretty close on this song, lol), but if you think it’s worth the risk I would encourage you to check out the song of the same name as the album. It’s my favorite flamenco type song from his album.
I discovered Paco in 1977 and I've been practicing his fingerpicking ever since. He is the master on flamenco guitar! Nobody can come close at least that I'm aware of.
Every single guitarist who saw Paco play had exactly the same feeling. That guy once shared a stage with Al DiMeola and John McLaughlin, everyone playing his own style, and the respect they felt for each other was very visible, but Paco still outplayed everyone
As a Spaniard I can only express how proud I am that Paco existed and that he gave us his beautiful music. "Entre dos Aguas" is one of his best-known songs, but if you want to feel like your head explodes, listen to the song "Almoraima", for example. Or the '88 concert on Polish TV, which is on UA-cam with decent quality. There is much to see and hear from him, his legacy is eternal. The best guitarist in history without a doubt.
The "c" of Lucía is pronounced like "th" in english. Keith Richards once said "Some say I'm a guitar legend. They have no idea. There are 3 or 4 guitarists that we can consider as a legend and above all of them is Paco de Lucía".
Something I notice with some of these really great guitar players is how clean the transition between notes is. Sometimes with less talented players you get the sounds of the fingers sliding along the strings between notes, but the releases are so clean and he doesn't need to feel along the strigs for where to go, he just has perfect muscle memory to make the move and confidently press back onto the strings.
Was at a concert in 1983 in Rome ( teatro Sistina), alt the women were screaming like crazy , he was like a god , it was insane and the best concert I have ever been too 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
im a metalhead all time fan of Slayer megadeth symphonyX etc acciddently listened to him and his brother Ramon de algeciras and since i fell inlove with flamenco and everything with andalusian soul he played in Carthage Tunisia around 2014 few years before the humanity lost the best guitarist in history i was sitting like 20m from the stage he was unhuman
Paco was, is and will remain a legend of the art of Flamenco as a guitarist. He was playing with his soul. He didn't even know how to read music. He recorded himself on a tape recorder and memorized the songs by ear.
He is and will be king of kings, his talent and mastery of the flamenco guitar is mythical....he is unique, the years go by and thanks to the dissemination of his work on the Internet, there are more and more reactions and astonishment.... As a Spaniard and an admirer of his talent in flamenco guitar music you never get tired of listening to him, because of how extraordinary and beautiful his guitar sounds you never get bored...As a person he was shy and humble, but he loved music like no one else and he was super perfectionist....Without words few qualifiers can represent his extraordinary skill.Celestial Paco de Lucia...
The most amazing thing is he always thought he could do it better. He never did it well in his opinion. He was a perfectionist. He was really tired in his last years of playing guitar because he said playing guitar is one of the most exhausting things to do in life. No doubt he was a master and an absolute legend
OLEEEE👏👏👏
Paco de Lucia, influenced the guitarists of Heavy Metal. It was so clean and fast, it really is always considered No. 1 in the world with this incredible clarity in the notes at such speed...
You're right, one of my friends studied music, when he told his teachers that he wanted to play metal, absolutely all of his profesors told him to learn to play flamenco. At first he didn't like the idea, then he knew why. It's incredible how flamenco is its own thing but it is very influenced by Arabic music since Spain was in territorial disputes with Morocco and Algeria.

The spell of our Paco, eternal maestro, the best in history ❤ for the Spanish it is very nice to see how Paco's music and his art impact other cultures. Thank you.
Thank you. *Thank you* so much for introducing me to this artist! I sent the link to my 2 oldest friends (60 years) - one of whom sings and plays in community choirs and orchestras, the other ran a music store in the 1960's and 70's. They both asked "where have you been?" I was angry - "you guys never told me about him! I thought you were my friends"....🤣 Just watched Paco and Al Di Meola playing Mediterranean Sundance. Two meastros. The music flows through their eyes.
OLE TUU!! Arabe Guapo... Im so thrilled and happy you shared this amazing Flamenco Guitarist! Paco was/is the MAN!!! I feel extremely proud to be part of a Flamenco family. And now Paco would be so proud of her especially as a female flamenco guitarist. GRACIAS from the bottom of mi Corazon. Paco, te queremos y ole too!!❤❤❤
Paco de Lucia and Vicente Amigo are the most memorable artists I've seen live. I was so sad when he passed but I am grateful I got to see him play live twice

Paco de Lucía was de GOAT of guitar players, and its not me who says that but is said for people like Hendricks, Slash, Santana o Keith Richards who consider themselves just rookies in comparison with Paco. Such a stunning technique and speed has charmed people for decades all over the world, playing his signature style. As humble man as great icon, we lost him a few years ago and was a musical tragedy, not only for Spain, but also for the entire musical world. Rest In Peace and Glory, our Lord of the Strings.
I can't wait to see another reactions to his music. Specially recommended the San Francisco live, with Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin... you both are just gone have an orgasm...
Over 30 years ago I saw a live show of Vicente Amigo, considered by many as one of the successors of Paco. The gig was mind blowing and his demeanor playing was very similar to Paco. I got a chance to meet him afterwards and talk to him for a few minutes. When I shook his hand, his hand was almost ethereal. Nimble, bony but also strong fingers. Very nice dude. Humble and friendly with a huge smile on his face. It was the closest I ever was of seeing Paco, but Vicente was/is a worthy heir.
I've also been to a Vicente Amigo's concert about 6 years ago, he was my ex-bf fav guitarist hehe We also went to a Tomatito concert, it was great and so much fun!
He is improvising. That's why he is even better than people think. Mark Knopfler from the Dire Straits said "I thought I can play the guitar well until I saw Paco de Lucia playing" There is no other guitarist even close.
Didn’t Keith Richard’s say something similar? Something like- “you call me a great guitarist. I’m not a great guitarist. There are maybe 3 or 4 people in the world you can really say that about. And then there’s Paco de Lucia”?
I've been a fan of Paco's for decades. He really is a maestro. But you should check out some of the work he's done with Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin.
if there's something all spaniards have in common it is our respect and admirasion for this amazing human being. Paco de Lucía was awesome and his music will always live. Fun fact: I watched n interview in spanish where he told things about his life like... he played for about 16h a day as he was growing up and He doesn't know how to read music, he played by ear.
Love your video!!! I can't say how many times I've seen it since you released it. When Paco does his amazing things on the guitar, the look on your face is the same as on mine. This man is from another dimension. Like Paganini on the violin. Or Danny Carey on the drums. All we can do as mere mortals is admire.
I saw THE trio with Al and John twice. Both Di Meola and McLaughlin were rightly in awe of him. He appeared on Al's second solo album and that led to the trio. McLaughlin wrote a beautiful tribute to him. Check out their two live albums, Friday Night in San Francisco and the sequel Saturday night. He plays this piece with Al di Meola and combines it with Mediterranean Sundance.
True. They did a second studio album in the mid 90s and a tour which was very good but apparently there were some tensions although the music was fine, even if it didn't reach the dizzying heights of the first album.@@richard345
When you said it's like breathing for Paco, flamenco was speaking a language. It was a language he grew up with. At first he used his talent to put food on the family table then he nurtured his talent to fill his soul ; this was the hardest part for him to master.
Thank you for choosing Paco de Lucía to react in your channel. Here in Spain we know very well tvat He was the Biggest! Regards from the Mediterranean Sea

NO ONE IS TH E BEST !....Paco's own words....THE BEST IS YET TO BE BORN !!
Nadie es mejor
Only children talks in terms of“he‘s the greatest/best“
If you think his dexterity is impressive..... Look at this:
"Paco de Lucia" DIDNT KNOW how to read or write music, tabletures, etc.... (you can search it online) He always played "by ear" , all his full life. I think this makes even more increidble and magnific as guitarist......... He always played with him heart and soul. Hello from Spain :)
Same as the drummer for Micheal Jackson. Both are amazing at what they do/did!
Pretty sure Clapton didn't use notation either
The one and only, Paco de Lucia. The best of flamenco music.
Paco is not a guitar player he is the guitar 😂

RIP”.
O tapaba todos los agujeros o ninguno. that MAGNIFICENT bongo player was Pepe Ebano, from Peru, and he was a master who played with the best around the world.Paco de Lucia was a revolutionary and introduce new elements to Flamenco, like the bongos.Another thing to notice is that this performance was mostly improvised, because Paco de Lucia plays this song a different way anytime that play it.This is considered a historic moment on spanish tv.
That percussion is incredible. Really propels the music to a new place.

I readily believe that this performance made history in Spanish tv. And yes, Paco plays it different every time. I have read, that he was not even fluent in reading notes. That might explain it, all in his mind, heart and fingers…
He's fantastic. Thank you. He's so great too. Pete Ebano : i will remember this name.
Paco de Lucía is an absolute legend, there will no longer be guitarists like him. He said that as a child, he practiced the guitar 14 hours every day. Those numbers today are unthinkable, it is an absolute beast. And he left us one of the most powerful quotes (for me) about perseverance and practice:
"If I stop playing the guitar for one day, I notice it.
😳
Brian Adams was also in Malibu trying to organize the recording of his song "to really love a woman" and asked who the best guitarist was to propose collaborating on his song. They told him that the best was Paco de Lucia, so Brian Adams called his house in Spain to propose working together, but they told him that he couldn't talk to him because he was traveling. And Brian said: can you give me the phone number of where Paco is? and they answered yes, of course, it's in that hotel in Malibu... In the end, Paco de Lucia was a few meters away from Brian Adams in the hotel across the street, and they played that song together.

Pure Magic.
'MAGIC' is the word', You were very lucky indeed to be there during the recording.
Pepe Ébano on bongo was incredible too. Such tasteful phrasing and impeccable technique. Top level player.

Sounds reasonable. He definitely knew Paco and his abilities. And Mark often downplayed his own skills.
Eres especial ✨️ de Algeciras
Believe it or not, Rolling Stone thinks there are 250 guitarists who are better than Paco De Lucia. I’m still waiting for someone to make it make sense to me.
It’s simple, he did not come from an English speaking country..

Paco.
Amigo lo de "posiblemente" sobra.
¡De hecho que SI!
Paco De Lucia is the best guitarist that has ever existed in this planet.
Probably the most natural and sincere reaction I've seen from this wonderful guitarist.
If you want to get a better glimpse of his incredible talent, you should watch ANY of his videos in which he plays either "Bulerias", "Almoraima", or some other classical flamenco... Guitar solo, I mean. THAT is actually something to break one's brain apart. 😁
And if you want him playing with another INCREDIBLE guitar playing, check "Mediterranean Sundance", both with Al di Meola or with Al and John McLaughlin. There's a number of those performances live videos. 🙂
Another great guitarist that is emerging recently is a young Italian guy named Matteo Mancuso. His fingerpicking style is unique, and he's been praised by a number of great guitarists, including Al di Meola, Steve Vai, and others. Check any of his live videos, or the official music videos from his most recent album "The Journey". 🙂
I just have a limitless admiration for these guys. 🤩
Loved your reaction to one of my favourite songs. It's always a joy to watch you reacting to something really good. You seem to PERCEIVE it at many levels. 🙂
See you next time!
Audience member: “How did you get so good?”
Andy McKee: “Practice.”
(Laughter)
Andy McKee: “No. Really.”
There are some natural talents a person can have but nothing beats dedication and work.
Awesome.
I think he never played it the same way twice xD
It hurts Flamenco Fans when you said , Paco used 4 fingers, he is the supreme Virtuoso who plays 2 finger picados , light speed .

Paco de Lucia was THE VERY BEST EVER. Greetings from Spain! 🇪🇸❤️
Escucha a NIÑO MIGUEL
Lucia was the name of his Portuguese mother. Thus it is pronounced with an "s" sound and not "th".
@@TheHesseJames In Spain we pronounce "c" like "th" in english. Paco was spanish.
@@juanmanuel8961 Then how come everybody in Spain pronounces him "Lusia"?
@@TheHesseJames not everybody, only in the south, basically.
@@TheHesseJames We don't. That spelling is more from latin-american spanish, not Spain spanish. We pronounce it as english "th" in "think"

So very beautiful 😍.....It brings tears to my eyes. I just want to run free when I hear this 💖💓.
I do hear him! Just awesome🎉
The most amazing thing is he always thought he could do it better. He never did it well in his opinion. He was a perfectionist. He was really tired in his last years of playing guitar because he said playing guitar is one of the most exhausting things to do in life. No doubt he was a master and an absolute legend

Paco’s the OG! Yes, he influenced metal guitarists. When you react to Marcin, you’ll see how well metal and flamenco fit together. Great reaction!

He is improvising. That's why he is even better than people think.
Mark Knopfler from the Dire Straits said "I thought I can play the guitar well until I saw Paco de Lucia playing"
There is no other guitarist even close.
Didn’t Keith Richard’s say something similar? Something like- “you call me a great guitarist. I’m not a great guitarist. There are maybe 3 or 4 people in the world you can really say that about. And then there’s Paco de Lucia”?

The level of admiration can only be admired. This is tryly unbelievable. Having the LP (I am old) I'm so happy you enjoyed this insane playing.
