This made me laugh. Only because I’ve heard that snap in real life, and I know how serious of an injury it is. Ten minute rest with a school nurse ice bag will DEFINITELY do the trick.
Snapped both my Achilles simultaneously and then the surgery went awry so my leg still has never healed and let me tell you it SUCKS didn’t sleep for about 2 weeks as even slight movements was the worst pain I’ve ever felt before the injury to the point where my pain threshold is extraordinary broke bones and barely winced from remembering that time

The docks are sometimes where more accidents happen than anywhere else. I know I've taken a few dives off the docks. My very first job on a boat I slipped between the boat and the dock, but caught myself on a freshwater barrel and just strained my hip lol
Just saw that the guy with the broken hip got life flighted out 10 hours after his injury. Then got flown 800 miles to a hospital in Anchorage. They said he made a full recovery.
PSA, if someone is unconcious and has blood coming from their mouth, don't lay him on his back and tilt his head up. Doing that will create a chance that their blood will drain down their throat and cause them to choke and drown.
broken hips are one of the most painful things a human can experience its like every cm u move a hundred needles stick u in ur nerves. i cant image the pain when of it when on a boat
and deaths, people should be avoiding it like the plague and the Captain certainly isnt the best he's more bothered about his catch then anything else just get that vibe that he doesnt really care about his men.
So a 350kg rebar cage and a crabbing vessels anchor squashing your pelvis and hips is not a “near death experience” or a head injury from slamming your head against a steel ship and knocking yourself out either + you’ve clearly never had an Achilles injury as it’s worse pain than a bone break by a lot snapped both simultaneously and since have broken a foot, a wrist and elbow and barely winced compared to even the pain post surgery on them
I’m a former dancer. Tearing your Achilles is known as a dancers career ender for a reason. You’re never able to fully dance on it again without surgery and even then it’s difficult because you nurse it like a baby because it can tear it again. It’s painful I’ve never had it happen to me but a close friend of mine did and she can’t dance again. She could hardly walk without crutches after surgery to fix it and she still limps to this day even with physiotherapy. It can end sport careers too that’s why when you hear a sports professional tear their Achilles they never really fully play professionally again
Have you ever heard the term oh that’s their Achilles heel? As in there one weakness??? It’s a very very serious injury, also nick didn’t twist his ankle, he broke it…………
The coast guard had to medevac him on a helicopter and he was life flighted to an Anchorage hospital. He made a full recovery. The footage of the medevac is on UA-cam and it's insane
Patricia lee seriously needs to be investigated or audited. 1 death and 2 serious accidents on a single boat goes well beyond "crab fishing is just a dangerous job"

Patty Lee captain is one of the worse the guy only seems to care about his catch more than his men, you just get that vibe from him and the words he uses doesnt seem very caring countless people have had serious injuries and at leaat one death under him maybe more says a lot about how he runs his ship. The way the Patty Lee sets their lines is also very dangerous, they use one big string line so pots are constantly flying overboard one after the other. It can be really demanding and i know that isnt saying a lot for the kind of work but thing kind of crap fishing is 5x more deadly.
Ruptures an Achilles tendon. "Hopefully ice and rest will get him fit enough to get back on deck."
That dude is gonna be on crutches for WEEKS.
This made me laugh. Only because I’ve heard that snap in real life, and I know how serious of an injury it is. Ten minute rest with a school nurse ice bag will DEFINITELY do the trick.
I blew mine apart. I chose surgery. 6 weeks in the first cast. 6 weeks in the second cast and 6 weeks having the plastic boot " air cast" No fun.
