- This week, I did some digging in the garden with the help of my brothers. While Winter isn't a popular time to garden, I wanted to prep my back garden for next Spring. In this video, we laid stone, dug a pond, and started making flowers beds for the next year.

The stone I used was from B&Q and I used two tonnes ( two bulk bags)
The gravel stabilisation grids are from Goodwins ( I used 18)
The tools I rented are Sam Hire from Chadwicks and we rented them for the weekend.

The gravel finishes the look around your greenhouse, I can just imagine how colourful and beutiful it will be come spring 💐🐝💖 for your pond make sure you put rocks so little creatures like headhogs and field mice can climb out if they fall in it 🐀🦔💖
Yes, placing rocks or turtle ledges and then mould chicken wire around the edges so the little animals can grab onto it and climb out 😊
It’s a very cool project I’ll bet it will look great in spring. The pond is cool and so excited to get min put in.

The gravel looks so good and it's small enough that it would not hurt your feet to walk on it barefooted.

Your yard is going to be lovely. The hard part is done so now all winter you can plan you plants and decorations for the yard. Such sweet brothers you have to come and help you. The platform to put in there is usually advertised for pools for frogs, squirrels, etc. Can't wait to see your yard all in bloom next year. I will be looking forward to your book too.
I highly recommend putting in a submersible pond pump at this point in order to sort out where you need to lay the cable and plug it in. It makes a big difference to the water quality when it's being aerated and it's also lovely to have the sound of a mini fountain going when sitting out in the summer. Speaking from experience our cats also loved drinking out of our pond when they could reach the pumped water 😁. Love what you've done with the garden so far!

We’ll done for getting all that done in December. It’s a blessing that we aren’t having typical December weather.
I just wanted to tell you how much I love Ireland. My daughter and I went 3 years ago. We landed in Dublin, rented a car and drove all over (Wexford, down south, Cork and Kerry and up through Galway almost to “The North” and back to Dublin. Loved it. I live on the North West coast of the U.S. and we have a very similar climate to yours.

I suggest you get a lawn blower to get the leaves off the gravel. Easier then raking.

I was able to work in my garden raking leaves out of the flower beds December 26, Michigan zone 6. It snow ❄️ the next day. Got to love we have had so much garden time. 🐝🌸☀️

We put a pond in our garden a couple of years ago. We love it. My husband spends so much time messing about with it and changing where the fountain and stones and plants go. The best place for pond plants is the Newlands Cross garden centre. You can get your fish there too. We get loads more birds in the garden now and once we saw a frog.
It's so cool that you got the basic bones in now, great planning. Now you can daydream all your projects for the Sppring. Great job and your brothers are good guys.

Same climate, we have a super cheap gold fish in our pond, now it is as long as my hand and we feed it Cheerios. Super easy to keep alive.

Use your blower to remove the leaves from the gravel. You rock and of course your brother too.

Now that you have the hardscape done, you will have somuch fun in the spring with plants and yard art. You may want to consider filling in with the same rock between your raised garden beds. That way you have a dry pathway in the winter to your green house. it will be a nice accent. I would also get a bright signage for your shed door, Something to brighten up the door when your shed door is closed. Your yard is looking really wonderful!! Great Job!!

I have had water Iris's for many years and just ignored them and they have just thrived. Consider them when you are researching Catherine. You have done a wonderful job and your brothers are so good to help you.
I am planning to rake leaves this weekend. My neighbor has a huge oak tree, so always leaves around. Ordered two bird feeders today. It's 60 degrees here in PA, but they have been flying around looking for the suet and feeders! They remember. After the greens come down from the porch, I'll put some seed out there so I can see them from the window. I wish we had hedgehogs around! Just birds and bunnies so far. Maybe a frog will find your pond, that's good luck! Your brothers are fantastic! 💝
If you haven’t got the patience to wait for grass seed to grow, you can lay turf on top of existing grass. In March you could buy a few yards of turf and as long as you keep it well watered if the weather is dry it’s an instant fix, you don’t have to get up any old turf, just lay it on the top and shape the edges if you want rounded curves or straight lines, with a kitchen carving knife. I did my scrubby lawn myself like this and it worked out just great.
