New York City in September is like nowhere else in the world. The awful humidity has finally broken, and it's still warm enough and bright enough outside for people to enjoy the outdoors before the cold sets in - and it is so beautiful. (....That's one reason why September 11th 2001 was so bittersweet - it was shaping up to be such a BEAUTIFUL, beautiful day that day.)
Now... If September brings a vintage jacket with the smell of beeswax!!! I'd take it and that moody plaid... and eat pumpkin bread with my coffee! Watch the leaves last dance... Girl, you've got me Giddy 🍂 💃
Hello, as much as I loved your videos in the garden, I'm really glad to see this one about getting your home ready for autumn. You have such a great home design aesthetic. I'm just so happy and ready to see you're moving indoors. Thank you🤗
Maybe try and get some advice on whether you can get the jacket dry cleaned and they get it relaxed. Hard to get into the cosy Autumn vibe when it's been so warm and sunny , you have to enjoy the lovely late Indian summer.
Hey, I hope this helps, but Thursday videos are for the home and Sunday ones are for the garden, the UA-cam algorithm desk;t show everyone every video, so if you prefer the home videos, pop back on Thursday evenings at 7 x
Just watered my thursty tomatoes and saw the notification for your video. Looove the Barbour jackets, but definitely get it dry cleaned ( proper dry clean, not banging it in chemical wash) or send it off for them to refinish. Its an investment 😊 I am September baby, Sunday's my birthday and as far as im concerned untill 23rd is still summer. There are definitely signs of change in the seasons, but i am enjoying the here and now, the hot sunny days and warm violet evenings, the abundance of flowers, fruit and veg. Managed to forage blackberries and have made blackberry jam, and cherry jam, and only couple nights ago made baked walnut and plum jam. So handmade gifts for Christmas are allready in the making. I love when September gifts us with pretty unexpected hot days 😊
Kathrine, give the jacket company a call . Get the advice if it’s worth paying for the treatment if your not sure it’s been in a washing machine. Even with the cost of the service it’s a bargain and I love it. Slow paced video is all I can manage at the moment and your grand voice. 🤗 just remembered I watched lol your pod cast with the lovely Lad that came to your house …… any more dates 😳I mean any more pod cast in the future 😊. Take care x
Barbour - get it dry cleaned (if you put it through the washing machine the dissolving wax may well gum up you washing machine/pipes) and they ALWAYS smell ... the smell of the wax is very distinctive. I quite like it however 😊
Love that woodwick and mug at the last scene, sooo beautiful and cozy, must put that on my list. Also, great find on the Barbour jacket, but I'd return the wax and have it done professionally, let them refresh it fully and you know they're doing it right, plus it's only about 50 more than doing it yourself which for a lifetime piece is a song.
The falling of ripening fruit into the grass under my apple tree as her leaves turn golden and the reassuring rhythm of the changing seasons 🌻🌾🍂🍁🕸🍂🍁🍏🍅🍂
We’re in the process of downsizing to a much smaller house and I’m finally tackling our adult daughter’s bedroom. She’s lived on her own for almost 20 years now, so it’s about time! Like me, she loves books…..so it’s very hard to get rid of them. But, I’m passing them on to her much younger cousins, matching reading material to their ages and it’s making me feel so much better about turning them loose. I guess, like your bar cart it’s knowing someone can potentially appreciate them as much as we do that makes all the difference. September is definitely my favorite month because for us in Wisconsin we have the best of both worlds. Fresh apples to pick, pumpkin flavors popping up everywhere, in what we eat and drink……BUT we can still enjoy fresh tomatoes, corn on the cob and much of the lovely summer harvests. Also knowing each warm day here on out is a gift to be savored until the cold winter snows come. Sorry, got a little wordy here. But, I just love this time of year!!!
Sounds like you have your hands full!! But that’s so good that you can rehome her books for someone else to enjoy ♥️ and just think of the finished project!
The month of September for me is the best time of year, I love the fall when the weather starts to get cooler. However, living in Canada I am not a big fan of our winters. Loved you hack for cleaning your oven. I find that if you place a piece of aluminum foil on the bottom of your oven, it will catch all the mess. Then you just need to replace the foil. Makes for less messy cleaning. Much love from Canada. Have a great rest of your week.
save yourself some time and by an oven liner best thing i ever bought cheap and easy to clean in some hot soapy water no more cheecky chicken nugget mess lol ❤🌻
The thing I like the most of September, is the start of Strictly come dancing. Because to me that means that we are heading towards my 2 most favorite seasons: Autumn and Winter and also the build-up to Christmas. Cannot wait😊
Your bed is so pretty, and it says sweet dreams all over! That is a good-looking jacket; I can see it with a nice pair of jeans and ankle boots. Have you tried spraying it with Febreze the fabric spray? It really works. Here is a tip for the oven: aluminum foil in the bottom to catch any drips. I will also put a baking/cookie sheet under whatever I am baking. Have a great week, xoxo's Sandie 😊🍁🍂
Hello, you make housework look so relaxing ha ha. I find I fly round the house and collapse in a heap at the end of it hee hee. I shall definitely be going at a slower pace and enjoy the process. I was born in December so I REALLY love Autumn and Winter - not so much the wet rainy days, but those beautiful cold and crisp days. Thanks for another GREAT, informative and relaxing video. x
Woke up at 6:30 this morning in the dark .... Made coffee anyway and enjoyed the sunrise through the trees .. In the Netherlands we have an extremly hot week for september !
Love your bedding. Wonderful how you keep up with the house and part with what you no longer need. Stair basket was lovely but really unuseful. Fan of your videos. Bought your lovely book.
Fun vlog. Totally agree.. hot weather in September is not unusual.. "Indian Summer"... Autumn doesn't start until 24th September.. I'm happy to wait until it is here... I'm still enjoying the summer! We have 35°C ..so swimming and ice-cream is still the best thing.
Harvesting my tomatoes and making spaghettie and chili sauces for the year to come. Picking my pumpkins a day making pumpkin pie. Picking the apples off my apple tree and making apple pies. Yum. Lots of work but I do enjoy the flavour.
Hello Sweet Girl, I love watching your channel so much. You have such a beautiful relaxing spirit and watching you do your housework, crafts and garden 🪴 inspires me to those little things that I often put off. 😊 Love Ireland 🇮🇪 and your gorgeous accent, nothing beat’s a good Irish pub………..definitely beats drinking at home alone for sure! 🍻🥂🍾🍹❤ September is the start of Spring down here in Australia 🇦🇺 I love watching all the blossoms opening up on my weeping cherry tree and the buds developing on all my rose bushes! 🌹😊🌹 Kindest Regards Deb 🌷🌷🌷🌷
Lovely video, Catherine. Your duvet cover is so pretty and colourful 😍 I'm also slow to change from summery to autumny, as I love summer brightness and clothes, but I'll get there.
Still in the 80’s here in Idaho Love the slower pace video Love fall but still enjoying the late summer garden !!!!!! Still some swimming days left !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like September because I associate it with the start of new things, probably because school always started in September. Like it’s a better new year than new year to me
Such a relaxing video. I feel weird saying that while your busy cleaning...but it was. 😌 I need to try your vinegar & baking soda on my oven...my most unfavorite house job! Love your table with the beautiful candle & your painted tile, thats so me!! Thank you, Katherine! 💐
Oh, I drink it in the pub! 😂🤣😅 Spring is my favorite time of year after a long, gold winter. But I do love pumpkin bread, apple butter, and leaves crunching as you walk, and baking on a cold wet day.
Love everything about September.....The cool weather, the Fall colors, the trees and there beautiful leaves and so much more!!!!!! Your home is so beautiful!!!!!
So hot and humid here in southeastern Pennsylvania. Been in the 90's all week but feeling like 100 degrees. My 75th birthday is Sept. 23. First day of fall. Your bedding is so pretty. That jacket is great. Will probably have it for the rest of your life. Try dry cleaning it. They can probably tell you the best way to sanitize it. Cheeky thumbs up Catherine. Hugs. 🍂🍁🌾
September is my most favourite month of the year 🩷 We are enjoying the beginning of spring and all the little surprises start popping up in the garden. I have the worst memory so I’m always surprised by the bulbs that burst into life 🤣🐨
That's a nice looking jacket, never heard of the brand. It's seems strange to have an outer garment that you can't clean though, guess I never thought about it. Hope you get it figured out, keep us updated and model it for us. Thank you.
September means Spring for me. Which in Melbourne Australia means beautiful mild sunny days followed by pouring rain and wind! So windy overnight last night that we awoke to no power :( That's the down side of country living I guess. Nothing like having a candlelight shower !!
I agree Catherine, September is awesome, it’s the beginning of Spring for Australia and it’s also my birthday month. I love Spring 🌼🌸🌸 although I wish our weather reflected Spring, this week our temps have been 27 and 28 deg C
September is one of my favorite months-I love the cooler weather & bright sunny days before autumn really sets in, but more importantly, my darling grandson is a September baby, therefore, the best thing about September 😊❤
Oven tip: lay some tin foil down at the bottom of your oven and then you can just remove and replace whenever needed rather than have to clean the bottom :-)
Odd jobs and procrastination - Yes. Sadly. But on my summer break (which ends on monday) I takled a lot of them. It feels good, right? I have no idea for your jacket. I bought a second hand leather jacket once and it smelled so bad (I didn´t notice at the store) - I could not get the smell out. I love September - I love the last warm days, I love the sunlight in September (it´s so soft), I love cozy nights, and it´s my birthday month. Thanks for sharing your calming video with us. Hugs from Germany 🌻
Hello dear heart, I’ve been watching your videos for about 5 years now. I love your channel. I live in Winter Haven Florida USA. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.
Vinegar and baking soda neutralise each other, so the lovely fizz is literally they becoming salty water. Each are great cleaners separately, though. Baking soda and peroxide, on the other hand is a good combination to clean the oven. No need to preheat it, just make a paste with both ingredients, I like mine runnier than tooth paste, but not too liquid, spread it and leave it to work its magic for at least 30 minutes, longer if necessary and then clean as you do here in the video.
I hear you Ms Catherine, September is when I want to clean my house also. I like to clean my windows in the spring and the fall. This year I have been remodeling my bathrooms so I might have to postpone cleaning for a couple of weeks. It is still rather warm here and we are desperate for a little rain. This would be a good time to tackle the windows. I have 13 windows to clean but most of them I can clean from the inside because they can be pulled to the inside to clean. Your house always looks so fresh and free of clutter. I love your new mopping tool. l have never seen one quite like that. Ann from Va. USA 🇺🇸
Catherine! get yourself to Aldi (or order on line) oven liners. I have one that I bought about 5 years ago. I cover it in kitchen foil then place it in the bottom of the oven. When it gets nasty I peel off the foil, put the liner through the dish washer (or wash by hand in hot soapy water). Much easier and quicker than scrubbing the inside of the oven. The liners are supposed to be disposable but I am skint so I reuse by doing the cover in foil method!
Not feeling hot and sticky. I also love to put fall flowers out, and start cutting back some perennials, and get my house ready for fall and Halloween.
My September has started with a road trip from Pennsylvania to Montana for 2 weeks. Which means no jobs to tackle in the house just yet. 😊. But normally it’s a time for me to wash windows and clean and purge like you said. I decorated for fall before I left home so that when I return, it’s already done(windows are already clean as well). I’ll be hiking in the mountains for another week, so the only cleaning for me is dishes!!!
I'm with you on loving the magic of September, my favourite month, I take out my Autumn journal I made, and get inspired to write about the change in nature, and how I'm feeling, also because I use this month as my annual re-set of taking stock, having a good declutter and clean, starting fresh on projects I need to do...much nicer to do this now rather the dark and dismal January-thats my hibernation time! Really enjoyed this video, thank you!
Just what I needed. I've been in the garden all day, moving veg around and repotting. I'm now shattered! A blissful Catherine video to chill to. Also listened to a podcast with you & a chap, such fun 😊
Love your beautiful garden videos but my favorites are your indoor videos. I originally found you looking for home organizing and decorating videos and so I'm always delighted to see you return to those.
Hello from sunny Arizona, USA. I'm a newbie here. Our Septembers are typically still very warm. Today it is going to 106F (41C) and up from there for most of the rest of the week. Our weather doesn't get tolerable until October and then through the winter it is cooler. We do not have much use for a waxed jacket in the desert where I live, but I did Google a website called " How to rewax and care for your Barbour Jacket " with a video that might be helpful. Love your garden.
I'm right there with you my girl! It's time to cozy up and declutter for winter. I got a few new winter clothes so some have to go - 1 in at least 1 out. That has always served me well. It's been in the 90's F with 90% humidity & I am so ready for fall and winter and shoveling Snow! I love the cold still even at 70, lol. Happy nesting! Have a lovely weekend. Love from Chicagoland.
Totally agree!!! Cold night here in co and leaves changing but I still am enjoying 75 degree days and I put mums out but house still flowers and bright
@DaintyDiaries... my my thing about September is my Birthday. .. apart from that I am cleaning out my flower beds and getting ready for cooler weather plantings here in Florida.. Cheek👍Up❤
Found the waxing of a jacket interesting. Have never heard that before. I wash my winter coat in delicate, hang to dry and spray with a water repellent that you can use for umbrellas. The coat though is not down filled other wise it should be dry cleaned. Happy Fall from Ontario, Canada!

I do the same! So much easier!!
Same also for the airfryer, a layer of foil underneath the basket & then I use a metal or silicon container within the basket 😊
Something about listening to this slower paced video has just calmed and centred me today, after a hectic morning with work. Happy September!

I love fall and autumn along with Spring! Both are my favorites ❤❤
The grey woven basket is a step-stairs basket. You put it on stairs and add stuff you want to carry upstairs...once basket is fulll...you carry it up.
I completely agree. I love the lighting in September and am not ready for pumpkins yet!
Lovely video, Catherine. Your duvet cover is so pretty and colourful 😍 I'm also slow to change from summery to autumny, as I love summer brightness and clothes, but I'll get there.
I love extra days of summer warmth mixed with the start of Autumn 😀

Catherine! get yourself to Aldi (or order on line) oven liners.
Hello Catherine! I always look forward to your vlogs!! 👋 ❤😊
Thank you so much 😊
Biological washing powder pour into a sink of hot water is brilliant for oven shelf’s, leave them to soak and the baked on grease falls off.
Great tip!
Not feeling hot and sticky. I also love to put fall flowers out, and start cutting back some perennials, and get my house ready for fall and Halloween.
Exciting times 😍🍁
My September has started with a road trip from Pennsylvania to Montana for 2 weeks. Which means no jobs to tackle in the house just yet. 😊. But normally it’s a time for me to wash windows and clean and purge like you said. I decorated for fall before I left home so that when I return, it’s already done(windows are already clean as well). I’ll be hiking in the mountains for another week, so the only cleaning for me is dishes!!!
I am watching from Alabama, USA and I absolutely love your channel! You're home is so beautiful.
That is so kind! Thank you x
I agree with you, I am so happy that September has arrived, I love autumn
Oh I love this 🙏🏼 such a rewarding feeling after time in the garden 🪴
Oh i watched that podcast too ❤
Hiya. I'd chance putting it in the bath and hand washing it, then putting it out to dry in the hot weather x
Playing a foil oven liner or baking tray in the bottom of your oven makes cleaning those oven spills much easier.
Great tip!

Love your beautiful garden videos but my favorites are your indoor videos. I originally found you looking for home organizing and decorating videos and so I'm always delighted to see you return to those.
🙋♀️ I am the odd job queen. Love this video, Happy Autumn to you 🍁🍂
Happy Autumn 🍂
Hello from sunny Arizona, USA. I'm a newbie here. Our Septembers are typically still very warm. Today it is going to 106F (41C) and up from there for most of the rest of the week. Our weather doesn't get tolerable until October and then through the winter it is cooler. We do not have much use for a waxed jacket in the desert where I live, but I did Google a website called " How to rewax and care for your Barbour Jacket " with a video that might be helpful. Love your garden.
Exactly... September is the intro to Fall like March is for Spring!
Love September vibes.. my anniversary, my grandpa’s birthday, grandson’s birthday, daughter’s birthday, daughter n law’s birthday,,, Harvest moon.. ❤🍁
Oh wow ♥️ what a special and busy month for you!! Enjoy all of the celebrations 🥰
Cheeky thumbs up from Pierrefonds Canada❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for stopping by!! Hope you’ve a lovely weekend and get into the autumn spirit 🍁♥️
Totally agree!!! Cold night here in co and leaves changing but I still am enjoying 75 degree days and I put mums out but house still flowers and bright
I love the arrival of September because it means Autumn and Winter are coming! I'm in Portugal where it's still too hot!
@DaintyDiaries... my my thing about September is my Birthday. .. apart from that I am cleaning out my flower beds and getting ready for cooler weather plantings here in Florida.. Cheek👍Up❤
An autumnal clear up is the best 😍😍 and happy birthday month!! 🎉😍
