steep garlic in hot water. Flick the stems that have heavy infestations and most will fall off. Then, Spray the aphids with it after it cools. Also, just a tiny bit of biodegradable dish soap added to the garlic water can assist with pests.
A great idea. I live in the tropics so mine would be a little different! I appreciate very much the way you always seem so content with your house and garden and the love shines through in both.
Oh it’s looking so romantic and pretty in the front and those sunflowers are so much fun, what a riot of colour everywhere ♥️ Our winter has been relatively mild so far here in South Australia. It’s 11c today, and my strawberries are still pushing out fruit - not fully colouring up but surprisingly yummy. Weird little guys 🍓 I think the sharing the garden idea is a Fantastic idea! So many gardeners are obsessed but are surrounded by people whose eyes glaze over when they start rapturising about their dahlias or zucchini - to be able to show what they’ve made to people who get it would be so satisfying 🌱
You got POTATOES! I feel your excitement. Lol. In Canada we were 29C yesterday. Typical around now. Rain and humidity for the rest of the week. Plants and grass need it. My hair...not so much. Lol
Hey Cathrine, your garden is looking so lovely, this is a cottage garden in the making, you will be giving Monty a run soon. Seeing you removing the spent flowers on your roses, brings to mind the video Garden answers put out recently about cutting back to five leave brackets instead of three, I am sure you might have seen it, excellent tips. This heatwave is hitting middle of England badly, with 40 /41 degrees C on Monday and Tuesday ! I’m getting up at 4am to water my garden and walk my little dog before it gets hot. Thank you for sharing, sending you love and blessings. ❤️🙏🏻🇬🇧
Blondie has such a cute personality! She's a sweet girl. Your garden has really transformed this year, your had work is paying off. Thanks for sharing!
I'm originally from South Africa, I live in Co Donegal now, and let me tell you... An Irish 23°C feels equally as hot as a SA 36°C, no jokes! I used to be one of those people who would think that 23° isn't hot, I know better now, from experience! 🥵😄
Morning Catherine..27c ☺️ so this is where I tell you we can get to 45c here during summer 🇦🇺..which is ok as long as it isn't humid..that's where I keel over, can't handle humidity 😮💨 and they are saying we are in for another wet spring as if we haven't had enough. I love the idea of being able to share all our garden videos with you what a great idea 🌳🌸🌻🌿🦋🐛🐝🌸🌺
I’d love to see everyones garden and would be super proud to show my “Around the World” garden I started in 2020. Its coming together beautifully. And, not to be THAT person, but…yeah, it’s definitely a heat wave here in Alabama. Its the time of year where I garden in 40-45 (Celsius) heat EVERY! DANG! DAY! One of the many reason I love Europe! Haha! Love your videos and sense of humor! 💚💚💚
What a good idea to put on little films or snaps of our gardens, we are watching you from all over the world, so the gardens must be very different and beautiful to look at, we are a bumblebee community, love your garden and your house, and you as a humble and happy person, greetings from the Netherlands 🥰
Hello from Seattle, Washington USA. Your garden is charming. You made me smile almost all the way through your garden tour. I’m retired now after teaching children for what seemed like a 100 years, and now have time to garden. I’m especially enjoying my lovely hydrangeas. They’re blue and purple and pink and deep burgundy. I must have a variety of minerals in the soil to create such beauty. Keep enjoying your garden and home… 27 C is somewhere around 80 F here. Yes, a bit too warm for me too, but the flowers love it. Thank you for sharing your videos.
Its really odd here in Australia hear 27 degrees as hot! As you can imagine its much hotter here during summer.. Overnight lows of 30's ect and days of 45.5 sometimes. It breaks the heart watching the gardens be incinerated! Your garden is looking lovely, so welcoming and abundant. I think a 'BIG" yes to adding videos! 🌹
Oh wow that is hot, I can already see some plants getting stressed and its only pushing 30, which is odd for us. I think I would fry in Australia, 20 degrees is warm for my Irish blood LOL
Your garden looks so beautiful. I love your pink greenhouse, your flowers, your wooden planters, soft green grass, your darling cat, and just the way you chat to the birds. Makes my heart happy. 💕🐦
Both astrantia and shasta daisy will self seed really well - they can grow into quite big plants and are easily divided when you need to. The garden is really starting to come together and looks so pretty.
Oh I would give anything for 27 C = 80 degrees F here in Texas. Today was 103 F and it was like a blast furnace. Your Garden is just magical. Love your Allium seed heads. Hang one in green house to dry. So beautiful. If your onions are bitter slice and soak them in ice water with a squirt of lemon or lime juice for about 10 minutes Aphids add a few drops of dish soap to a spray bottle 2 cups water and give them a good squirt. Or blast Aphids off with garden hose. I love your Summer Motto: Water - Deadhead - Cut the grass. Repeat. Enjoyed your video. Thanks you.
You are absolutely adorable. I can’t believe you’re even breaking a sweat at 27• !!!! That’s so mild. We call that February here. Honestly- it’s hotter than that before the sun comes up here most days in July ! Enjoy it ! Pretty garden. Pretty young lady !
We’ve been driving from Dublin counter-clockwise around Ireland. It’s been an amazing two weeks. We love Ireland and will come back soon! It’s getting warm but not as warm as Florida!
yes to sharing! Love seeing everyone's gardens. It gives me such inspiration for my own humble efforts. Cheers from Perthville, NSW, Australia (on a frosty Winter's morning!)
You can spray your aphids with white oil, if they get too much for the plant. It’s good for all insects. You can make your own. In a blender or jar, mix 1 cup vegetable oil with 1/4 cup concentrate dish washing liquid. This is your concentrate and will keep up to 3 months. From this you mix in a spray bottle, 15 mls of your white oil concentrate with 1 litre water. Shake and spray aphids. Hope this is helpful. 👍🇦🇺💕
I forgot to leave a comment and tell you I love the new plants you picked out to add. It's hard to find summer plants here now. It's sad, but you either get them all in the spring or you risk not finding any later on. I find as long as you water well, perennials winter over well when planned later in summer. You have the tallest sunflowers!!!
Your garden is looking so colourful Catherine, I love the cottage garden style. A girl after my own heart. Blondie is very cute when she puts her paw up. Thankyou for sharing once again, really enjoyed it.
I would VERY much love to figure out a way to share a video of the community garden here in Brooklyn - since that way you'll see how I "took one of your ideas and made it my own" when we were painting a little cabinet for books. 🙂
Hello from Brazil! It is winter here and it is a chilly 20C this evening LOL Your garden looks fabulous! Keep that sunscreen on and drink lots of water. Personally, I can do without the high temps...anything over 27C is completely unnecessary!! ☺☺☺
🥰… Received my book 18 hours ago I am on page 131 with the pleasant surprise of finding the 💖✨pink ribbon to use as a bookmark that was attached to the book, what a beautiful surprise!
Watching you from Texas where it’s 40 degrees today and will be 43 degrees for the rest of the week! I miss the uk family friends and much cooler temperatures. Love watching your channel pottering in the garden and diys 😃
@@DaintyDiaries You inspire me to plant more flowers. I just have to keep the little plastic pieces with the names on them because I can't remember them all. I am so impressed with the way you just know all of yours. By the way, you have such a calming effect on my life when I get to watch your vlog. Thank you so much!!!
You can mix a couple of drops of dish soap and water to spray the aphids. You can wash them off with a good spray of get a box of Lady bugs to feast on them. Your garden is beautiful. I live in Sunny very dry Las Vegas, NV USA…25 Celsius would be amazing. We are just getting over 111 Fahrenheit. My roses have burned up but will come back in the fall, my butterfly bushes are toast but will come back in the spring. Thank you for sharing your adventures and your garden with us. Getting ready to order you book now that it is in the US. You’re adorable.

So nice of you Anne, thank you x
I agree contentment and appreciation of all the stages of growth is so good!🥰
Love the beauty of your flowers 💐💕
You can blast those aphids off with a strong shot of water from your hose. They will still feed the birds and will not climb back up on your blooms.
I had loads of aphids on my Roses. Made a week solution of water and dish soap. Used a spray bottle and they all gone x
Thanks for that Gill!

The plants definitely needed but not the hair that’s right Diana 😂
Doing my skincare while watching Dainty. Perfect chill time.
It looks like Borage to me, I grow it every year because the bees love it and I use the blue flowers in ice cubes. ❤🇬🇧

It totally is isn’t it 😂 it’s a different climate here!! Hope you’re loving Donegal 💗
Borage is fuzzy. I like to freeze their star shaped flowers in ice cubes to add to summer drinks. It can reseed itself for you.
In a spray bottle put water and a few drops of dish soap try that on the aphids
