- I do LOVE Autumn time in the garden, in this week's garden vlog, I am attempting to split and divide perennial plants. I split a Geum and some Hardy Geraniums to create more plants for free for my front border.

Awwww Martina! Thank you xxxxx
I love getting free plants and love giving them! I love the story behind them. ❤
We are in spring in Australia and it’s my favourite season. I was so excited to pop out into the garden to check on my very first Peony bud and she has bloomed 🎉
Aw yay!!! What a beautiful flower 🌺
Bless your heart! Somebody buy this girl a new push broom. Love every video. Tennessee. USA
😊 thank you
I just love your humor!!! 😍 I am from the southern USA and that is exactly how we say "Jim"!!! Lol!!! You always bring a laugh and a smile! Love your garden! And so love seeing an independent young woman who handles life amazingly and makes herself a wonderful home! Hugs from Mississippi!
Aw wow, what a lovely comment! Thanks for the love x
I watch from Mississippi also, totally agree!
😂 yes!
They yard looks great and full and will be full of surprises in the spring and summer. You are really becoming an awesome gardener ❤
Netflix must watch,,, From Scratch! Love watching you all the time! Cheeky thumbs up 😍🥰😘
Just keep rewatching you over and over I love love love your videos ,you inspire me so much ,trouble is I've got to stop watching you for a little bit and get my bum out into my garden and put the ideas you gave into practice 😂😂😂 love from Lincoln England ,❣️❣️❣️
Another Aussie here (Blue Mountains, NSW) We have had heaps of rain through winter and now our spring flowers are loving the warmth. We have been told we will have a wet summer again so no bushfires hopefully here. I feel sorry for the people who are flood affected again! Love your garden
The splitting of the plants 😳 they will be great. My friend does that too.
I'm from the sunny central Florida USA. We are sunny All yr long, but I love to watch your weather change it gets me in the fall mood 😄
Your videos are the highlight of my day, how sad am I?? lol
Loved the fox tea mug! And your pleasure for the garden is simply really sweet. You have done so well. Melbourne Australia here and going into Spring time!! The summers here the past few years have become very very wet and humid. In February there is a blast of extreme heat usually destroys most average gardens, I keep going but its extreme and heart breaking. I now seek the indestructible when planting.
I look forward to seeing you, Blondie and your garden every Sunday. It brings me joy. Thank you.
Just seeing Ur excitement for early planting gets me in d mood n start planning....live Ur garden get wait for spring...I miss my neighbor She would always be in her garden, n she would give me cuttings n sometimes we would exchange plants...🌷
You have great neighbour's.
It would be cool to see their gardens some time.
I'm seting up my gardens for the first time. I live in a retirement village and I'm adding to existing flower gardens but starting from scratch to get a veggie garden going.
I so enjoy watching your vids.
Your humour just lifts me Catherine 🇬🇧
i too have a love for free plants...i put many in my friendship garden
Friendship garden! I LOVE that x
Aww as busy as ever....and as lovely as ever....in love the 🦊 cup.... I bet it would be great Blondie one ...😸. Send them a message...lol. Well done all in. Good days work...and it will be your rewards next spring and summer... X thank you for sharing...
My Mother always said (when planting flowers) 1st year Sleep, 2nd year Creep and then the 3rd year LEAP
Yay! Sunday garden video 😊 living vicariously since I have no garden. Love your positive vibes! ✨️ love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤️
Yay! Thank you, Happy Halloween x x
I'm the exact opposite of most people with the seasons and mood. Spring and summer bring me down but I feel myself start to come back around as soon as Autumn gets here and throughout Winter.
Every flower has its season xxx
Hi, South africa summer no grey days mostly sunny, love the mug omg cute 🌸🌸🌸💕💕💕☀️☀️😍💕
Hi Catherine lovely vlog again,I have been tidying my garden getting all my container's and the ground ready for planting my spring bulbs,I too am so excited for next year's flowers. I have been looking after my father's garden since he passed away and have been finding flowers pop up all over the place, the roses too are all blooming again which is just amazing I tell my ma that dad is sending her flowers again 😁🥰🤣. Your vlogs give me the confidence to get stuck in with the garden so thankyou angel I really appreciate what you do. Sending much love from Cornwall.😗😘🥰❤️❤️
Awww that is so sweet 🥹
Great video as usual, thank you. Aussie here from Victoria in a cold zone, way too wet with flooding so no dahlias have gone in yet. The tubers would only rot. I'm also craving sunlight.
I love Martina’s message to ! You are a bundle of happiness for all of us! Gardens shaping up nicely! Love little fox!! 🦔❤️😘
The plant is a “red hot poker” or Kniphofia . Your garden is so lovely! I truly believe one of the best parts of having a garden is to be able to divide plants and share with others……As I enjoy the plants that were gifted to me, I can’t help but be reminded of the particular friend who gave me each plant. Your borders are going to be gorgeous and lush next spring because of all the attention you’re giving them now. We’re so lucky to have generous friends! Our gardens are a living scrapbook of memories. ♥️
When i saw that plant, i thought of red hot pokers as well, but i was put off by the colour. I planted one in my garden in autumn, now it is summer here, so i am looking forward to what it will do.
I’m waiting to autumn...today there where people at the sea here in Italy🙂...beatiful mug Catherine..ciaoo🌸🌸
Having fresh snow on the ground actually brightens things up
Now we know where you get your green thumb, your dad. ❤️😊
Happy lights work wonders. I look through seed catalogs all winter long. Montana has very long and very cold winters. Spring will be back 🌱🌷 before you know it.
You are so much fun to watch!!! Love you !!❤❤❤
Love that “free plant ho”. Me too.
😂
Just received your beautiful book in the mail from Dublin to Texas! Eason shopped quickly. Thank you for the hard work that you had to put in to create your new book! Will get much inspiration from it for years.💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 God bless you!🙏🏼🥰
I am so so happy to hear that Lori, thank you for the support, were you able to get a signed copy?
@@DaintyDiaries It’s not signed. I love it though! I know that signing all of them is not practical. I am thrilled to get your beautiful book anyway!💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
When I do any dividing I always do it in a wheelbarrow with water and some kind of liquid fertilizer and then fill the hole that the plant is going into with water and starter fertilizer and everybody seems to be happy. Excited to see how your transplants turn out.
This is a great tip! ❤
Yes. I heard the same advise from a local garden shop.
We are cooling done, but at least low humidity!!!! Yeah!! I only have shade,so I'm always looking for low light plants!!!! We live in Florida, USA. Love your channel🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁💚🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴
Your mystery plant is Kniphofia (possibly Sunningdale yellow) commonly called a Red Hot Poker since the more common variety is red and yellow.
Your such a hard worker, I admire you
wow, thank you x
Been waiting for this all day ☕️
I hope you enjoy it ❤❤ happy Halloween 🎃
I always do 😊thank you 😊 happy Halloween 🎃👻
The lights for SAD really do work. My helps so much, especially if I use it in the morning. I'm in Michigan, US and we have a lovely autumn, but winter is 4+ months of cold and snow.
Your neighbor is a treasure. When dividing plants, I use a sharp knife. Not as intimidating as a spade or pitchfork, but it gets the job done. I learned that tip from Martha Stewart. She also did her planting in a light rain as well. TFS.
I've recently discovered your chanel and I'm thrilled. You are so sweet and talented! I could listen to you for hours. Greetings from Spain 🇪🇸! ❤
Aw, you are so so kind, happy you found me x
Love a Sunday gardening video!! 🤘🏻
Yay, I hope you enjoy Donna x
Love it. This is one of those...it flowers pink.. lol
So beautiful! You’re delightful hilarious and lovely, Thankyou! 🌱
My biggest advice is to be bold with dividing ! In general, plants are quite hardy and there have been many a time I thought I for sure killed something and it barely skipped a beat. I tend to do a lot of dividing in the spring where I am in the upper Midwest of the US (Michigan, zone 5b), we have quite snowy winters and our frosts have already taken out a lot of plants for the year, so I’m loving seeing all the green in your videos.
That is a great tip! Plants are definitely more hardy than I think they are, they can take some abuse x
I love to watch you in your garden! ❤ At least on cold dreary days you can go out to your lovely greenhouse. Lots of light, even if cloudy. And your heater for warmth. That will help I'm sure. Tyfs HUGS 🍁🍂🍁🙏🍁🍂🍁
Loving your inspiration ❤️
Australia mid spring
I have white agapanthus that came from my late Nana’s garden that remind me of her every day 🥰
Aw I love that Annette x
The yellow flower is a kniphofia aka red hot poker. Your garden is looking beautiful and the mug is so cute.
Thanks for another great video. You always cheer me up 🌺 👍 😃
My pleasure 😊
Hi Catherine, I think the plant your neighbor gave you, that your Dad had in his garden, might be a Yellow Torch Lily, also known as Red Hot Poker.
Loved your video 😊, garden is lovely, fix mug with lid is cute xx
Oops I meant Fox mug 😂
So enjoy watching, it is amazing how the weather can effect are mood. I think im a zone 7 or 8 depends on what your planting, i so love flowers but i also love planting veggies as well. Im from the south east coast.
You can chop perennials now and they come back well. No worries. You’ve got this.
Hi Catherine, your poker flower is Kniphofia also known as Red Hot Poker
Love your videos !
Even on gloomy days, if it's not raining try to get outside. You can still get some sunlight and Vitamin D on a cloudy day. I know it's not the same as a sunny day, but I've seen people get serious sunburns on gloomy days because they were out in it all day long.
I was sweeping up my gardening mess yesterday on the deck and thinking of you with your garden broom. Mine is just as haggard so it made me laugh! Also I live in the Pacific Northwest in the United States and our climate is very similar to Ireland… So it’s fun to watch which flowers lasted for you and seeing which flowers lasted for me. I tend to do OK on the cloudy days but that is because I live in a cabin with more windows than walls. It lets all of the light in even if there’s only a little light that day. The lamp is a great idea and something else that I read that they do in Sweden is to light lots of candles and put on lots of ambient light in the home when it’s dark out. 💗💗💗 here’s hoping you have a better winter this year! Sending you hugs and love.
We're at the beginning of the middle month of Spring - nonetheless, today we have forecasts of snow above 1100! My highest spot not far is a little less than that, but it seems to happen once at the beginning of every Spring downunder! We're supposed to be cool temperate here in the mtns.
So lovely to see how much you enjoy your garden!
Aw thanks xxxx
I got the same Allim's - got about 130 bulbs to plant up 🙈but can't wait till they all spring up :) - always look forward to the sunday garden vlogs x
Your garden has come such a long way in the last year or so with all your hard work and planning. I look forward to seeing it come spring.
Love watching your vlog ❤️ I am in New Zealand, its start of spring and warming up
Beautiful weather down here in the South Island (NZ). Zone 9a Great gardening weather!
Thanks Catherine for letting us see how your garden is growing. Thanks for the good advice also 🙂😘💕
You are so welcome, thanks for watching Lorraine, Happy Halloween x
❤Always enjoy Sunday gardening videos x Thank you for cheering us up xx
So nice of you Karon, Happy Halloween x x
Re: plants that go down in Autumn doing better - I was just half-listening to Monty in GW on iplayer from a couple weeks back (anyone else only watching for Ned?) and he was saying that planting in autumn in warm soil gives them time to get established and then they can get ahead faster in spring than ones planted into cold soil in spring. I have a feeling it was the wallflowers section, where he was doing wallflowers and daffs in the long walk? :) so there you go. If Monty says it, it must be accurate!
Oh I am here for all of the Ned content!
Catherine I’m the same SAD as soon as the kids go back to school I know it’s coming 😕 this year as a 1st year gardener it does seem more pleasant & I never imagined myself out in the rain in October in the rain in Ireland planting bulbs 😂 but there I was 🌷 bless you all on these darker days 🥰
Aw love hearing you were out bulb planting! It is so fun isn't it, I did some this week x
@@DaintyDiaries the bulb tool definitely helps 👍 I’ve more to do but sure we’ll get there 😆
Great tip on the perennials, and well timed as I've just moved and have my first garden :)
Awww congratulations on the move Clare ❤
Love your videos!! we have had a beautiful late fall here. October was stunning. unfortunately it was so late....that leaves didnt have time to fall.....so when it snowed last night..the trees are now very heavy. but beautiful!
Hi Catherine, lovely vlog, your garden look’s beautiful.
Nothing better than free plant’s, gardeners are so kind and generous. Loved your new mug, hope you had fun with your niece & nephew. Have a lovely week 😊💖
Thanks for your videos and useful information. Excited to see all the beautiful bulbs you are planting. I live in North Carolina USA near Charlotte, NC zone 7B. Our temps are in the 70's day and 50;s at night but having rain now for November. I love the sunshine and not the gloomy days. I also have some plants inside which keeps me busy. Hoping to grow some sunflowers and daisy next year. I love your beautiful day lilies. My mother's ancestors were Irish {Arrowood} perhaps someday I can visit Irland. Take care and God bless.
Your Dahlias were so pretty this year that I will be planting my first Dahlias very soon. I can't wait to see them grow. The changes in season and weather do make a huge difference in how we feel. I live in Florida( zone 10a) and recently overheard someone who has recently come here to live from one of the Northern states with long, hard winters. He said that when he was still in the north he had no idea how deeply he was affected by the weather until he came here. He said he feels so much better mentally and physically with more warm, sunny days.
Thanks for sharing that, yea, I notice when I travel in Winter, my mood is boosted when I come back from somewhere sunny x
I'm in zone 5 Pennsylvania. I have a few Rozanne geraniums in my garden and they're still blooming a little bit. Been thinking of dividing them in the spring to have them in other areas of the garden where nothing has been in bloom for some time. I divide all of my plants the same way as your neighbor has showed you. Yesterday was beautiful here, and I spent all day outside cleaning up and putting away the outdoor furniture. Today is grey and rainy, so I am inside enjoying a nice fire.
The mystery plant I think is nerines. They start flowering soon .
I hereby have decided to refer to plant splits as “plonks”, because it tickles my fancy!
Almost panicked as clocks went forward....but your here yay 😃
It has been a beautiful October and so mild in Kent England. I have shrubs that usually flower in Spring back in flower. It has been a delight to see so much colour in the garden still, I agree Catherine. Maybe this is what the future holds. Have a great week 💖
Loooove your videos! I was just thinking of suggesting you to get a Lumie (sunrise alarm, bodyclock), i have an old one but it's a blessing. I find it really hard to get up when it's still dark but my friend Lumie helps. :)
We are hoping to move in December to our forever home with a big(ger) garden and I cannot wait. So I will be able to do stuff in the garden too. 🥰
Sending you love Catherine.
Love the cup with lid. Does it help keep tea warm longer when outside in the garden? I might play with that. Goes cold so quick outside. Great work on the border.
Gorgeous abundant Garden…M🎃M of 5
Catherine you cut that planned 50 times and it would still come back 🙏🇮🇪👍
Love your garden , it is flourishing due to your enthusiasm! That mug is so cute and just right to keep your brew hot while you’re outside. I needed this to give me some encouragement just as I start my Monday morning work week in Australia. Thanks !
awww, we have a bank holiday day tomorrow for Halloween so the work week is a little shorter this week x
Hi
From North Carolina
Catherine another lovely garden video. You are such a joy to watch. Hugs ❤
I think your long-blooming geranium is an endressi (French crane's bill). It blooms well for me in my Canadian garden.
I think they’re red hot poker plants ( Kniphofia) or similar
Oh thanks for sharing that x
In my experience, plant people are great sharers!
Sad to watch the last Gardener's World of the season.🥺
Aw me too! What will I do with my Friday night now, I will have to go the pub instead LOL
Didn't Monty say G.W would be back as a special in Dec?
It was lovely to see your lovely garden again. Im in Zone 3, fairly short growing season for everything. I still have Oregano blooming in my garden, actually and a small purple flower as well. Thank you for a sweet video, Catherine.
Catherine, hi! That mug is cute. I feel right at home with you, sitting here with my hot chocolate. (It is 33f in Minnesota tonight.)
I need to do some garden cleanup, your enthusiasm is so encouraging! 👍👍
I think your freebie with the yellow flower is Kniphofia or Red hot poker. Your garden is beautiful! ❤️
Oh thanks for sharing that x ❤
Catherine. The pink bulbs at 8.01 are Nerines they lose their leaves before the flowers appear in mid October.
Oh thanks so much for that, I noticed this week one flowered x
Great day in the garden! We're dry, dry, dry in San Diego, but my herbs are doing well in pots & we have transferred many aloes & succulents, which do well here.
Sunday's are for garden 👩🌾videos and football 🏈💙💚 . Regarding the yellow hot poker plant , I have some also ... they were called " popcyle " here in Washington state USA zone 8b . Happy Gardening 👩🌾🧡💛
deffo feeling SAD too, its not just dark but the shift in weather. not a fan of our Irish autumnal weather. those lights any good? they expensive...although probably cheaper in long run, I've to check back in with my GP if i find this winter as bad as last
Kniphofia is the name of the plant with the yellow flower. It’s also called red hot poker. A very pretty plant 😊
Not only do you need a Blondie mug, but you need a Pepsi mug too. 😻 I do miss seeing Pepsi.
AW me too, rest her soul x
Hello friend. Rhe unknown perennial plant is a yellow Hot Poker. I had the red version. OneLove ❣
I believe the “poker” plants are kniphofia. Thanks again for a lovely Sunday video!
I’m from the Mediterranean coast of Spain, and we are still struggling with hot weather. Also just a couple of rainy days since May. 😓😓 Really hard…
I had heard! I heard you had temps of 30 still x
