Nobody is denying you to raise your children in your own cultural way. Its infact encouraged, even in Norway. Just dont do whats against the law, even if its your culture. Like cultures where female genital mutilation is part of their culture, or cultures where forced marriages take place on larger scale, where hitting is just part of discipline, because you do love your children. Dont do anything against the law....
My own kids, born and raised in Norway, I myself was just a child when we moved to Norway, takes the best of two cultures. There are parts of norwegian culture that we dont follow, as those doesnt feel right for us, and some parts of indian culture we dont agree with, so we dont follow them. As I said, it's not for me. I don't automatically look down on them. I just feel that slaps are not needed to discipline. My kids are born and raised in Norway, I remember when we had friends from India visiting us, parents and two children. The mother just couldn't understand that mine were well-behaved and that without any slap ever.
I was born in India, moved to Norway in my tween yrs. I remember few slap here and there, me and my cousins Sometimes talk about old times, and laugh. It didn't scar me for life.
Here its not the question about if normal physical discipline is ok or not. It's question about why people think that they are entitled to act on that part of their culture, in other countries too.
Doesn't matter how normal or Okey it is in your country, when you are in other countrys, follow their laws.

Because the system is so wrong in Norway and Since 2015, the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg has dealt with 40 child protection cases against Norway. But remember this also happens to ethnic Norwegians, and many Norwegians are simply afraid of the children's welfare in Norway, and therefore many people in Norway are afraid to have their children in kindergartens or schools because of the slightest negative remark from them to the children's welfare then the children are taken away from their families even today in 2023

As a breastfeeding mother of one year old daughter, it made me anxious and broke my heart when she said my kid is on breastfeeding in the trailer.... Western culture is suffering in terms of their EQ because they undermine bonding that could take place when children are under 3years of age, their upcoming generations would dread even more due to this. In my experience as a mother, researches does not always hold true for kids as each kid is different and we have to go with our intuitions as a mom and not just push helpless newborns into independence, it would come in a better way once they are emotionally, mentally and physically secure that is why these primitive years hold a lot of significance. In general, not this particular case, there is no need to apologize, as their jobs is much needed, and we have an agency that truely focus on the best interest of the child. With that being said, this case could be one of those cases where things are misunderstood or misinterpreted. The decision to take over the custody at that time, was based on the information they had back then, how the family is doing right now is not imortant. Why I say that? Because in this particular case the children are doing ok, in a much calmer environment, we wouldnt even be discussing it if the opposite had been the case. You know if the story was: .
I have nothing against mother, I am against backlash Norway and norwegian government is reaciving, based on a bollywood movie, with all people buying whatever the movie is selling, without even doing their own investigation. They made a court ruling that parents were somehow not fit to be good parents, as they should. That is something they didnt take back, its not like suddenly the mother was fit and all. They gave their custody to their uncle, whom they considered to be a better parent. Mother did get custody from norwegian government, but in India.
In this particular case, things went ok, but opposite could also have been the case. We could be sitting here, in retrospect, regretting that solution, if children had really been abused or even died due to parents neglect or abuse, during the last few years. It might come as a shock to you, but indian parents can also be serious abusers.

Yet there are mothers who physically (hitting black and blue), emotionally (actually not caring about the child) even se**lly. Yes there are mothers who abuse their kids in either way, even though they are just days - weeks or even months old babies. We are not talking discipline in those cases, are we.

Remember, it's a balancing act. On the whole, it's better to be a citizen of a western country. The state has to balance the parents rights and the children's right to safety. Children are far more likely to be abused by family members and close friends of the family. That's just the dirty reality. So we can never be too trusting with parents. Every year, lots of kids are abused ... by their parents. When we're dealing with children and possible abuse, it's better to be safe than sorry.
Please keep in mind that this is a theatrical story. this couple was being monitored before the children were taken into custody. Then, these same children were sent to their paternal uncle in India. This woman had to go to court and she had to fight all the way up to the Indian Supreme Court.
I am interested in protecting children. I keep informed to a degree. India is not a good place for children. In fact, it's dangerous. Especially for little girls. Hundreds of children are abused every day in India. That's just the facts. We shouldn't be fooled by these theatrical stories.

This is what the west is doing in general, I live in Sweden and have witnessed dozens of kids being taken away from their parents over small negligible problems. Respecting other cultures is something challenging for west.

    • @Ms.P.Sharma
      @Ms.P.Sharma Рік тому

Would you care to explain how exactly foreign cultures are not respected in the west?
I mean which part? Yes some stuff from other cultures are simply not allowed, even though you think you are doing it out of love.
      * Hitting your children, even if its only for discipline, not an actual abuse, is NOT allowed. Follow the laws.
      * Female genital mutilation, as in circumcision, is NOT allowed, even if it didnt happen in Norway. So people cant go to their own home country to mutilate their daughters and come back and claim, it didnt happen in Norway. This is not about all girls who come to Norway with their daughters, as tourist, and had prior to that mutilated them. They react to those who are "norwegians" meaning living in Norway, permanently or temporary, regardless of citizenship. You coming back with newly mutilated daughter, will have them take custody of your child, and you getting thrown in jail.
      * Forced marriages are NOT allowed, and no arranged marriage are NOT considered forced. You cant force your children to marry someone you chose, and force them even if they say no. Yes, this is happening even in 2023. No, India is not considered a high risk country in that matter, there are few other countries where this is still happening on large scale. Most international airports in Norway even have an office or a place where young adults, who has this is not a vacation-feeling, who sincerely feel that their parents are getting them married to a cousin or something, they can actually get in touch with that office, and they take care of the rest. Hide that person, whatever it takes, to hinder them taking their children forcefully to their home country.
Norwegian government respect and encourage people celebrating their culture, but not in all aspects, as given in my example.
I just hate people making assumptions based on a movie, without doing their own research before making their decisions on a whole coyntry. Pls show me an official website that inform us that the reasons given in the trailer are indeed against the law.
So now, their is no law against co-sleeping, hand-feeding, using tikka (ala facepaint) and no the government is NOT making money on children taken. Nobody is getting rich.

@@Ms.P.Sharma in sweden you can't tell your kids anymore that they can't hang out with certain friends even if they are not good peers , you can't tell them what to wear , you can't stop your kids from sleeping over their friends places , that's considered a threat to their freedom , am not talking about hitting your kids now but I have witnessed a three year old toddler telling her day care teachers that her mom pushed her with a finger and guess what she was taken from the family, and i had to ask her very specifically how did her mom push her and she showed it with her index finger on her belly, that crushed me , and just recently my own son just four lied about being hit by my dad and we got to attend alot of meetings to sort things out and finally found out it was one of his teachers who hit him and asked him to make the story other way round, we complained but the day care only apologised for the so called misunderstanding, so hope that helped to understand a bit about outside your shell

      @@adilahaidari674
I do understand outside my shell. I do agree that barnevern does need to make few changes, so there is absolutely no misunderstanding.
I seriously dont know the swedish law, as its not norwegian, there could be different. I certainly tell my kids, and mind you I have daughters, just so you know. I have absolutely decided what they absolutely cant wear, if I as a mother am not comfortable. No revealing clothes, no bikinis, no this or no that, but that only goes until a point. You seriously cant make your 16, or even 18 year old wear only the things you are comfortable with. At some point you just have to let them make their own decisions
My youngest is 16, I allow her to sleepover, or have a sleepover with friends I know and am comfortable with. They do that all the time, multiple times during summer vacation. I DO NOT allow her to sleepover at a friends house, I know nothing about. She started highschool last year, and got some new friends, I dont know them, so she is not allowed to sleep at their place, but she is allowed to have them sleepover at our house. I am being safe, if that means being strict, then so be it. Better safe than sorry. I make that decision. If barnevern have a problem with that, then its their problem. My daughters has/have had a lot of freedom.
All the things I prohibit them to do, is because I have a problem with those things, not because they are girls. I wouldnt have allowed my kids, even if they were boys.
What I tell them, prohibit them is NOT because they are girls. My girls are independent, their wishes are respected,
Its in human nature to lie, people do that all over the world. Kids can definetly lie, so can adults. Barnevern knows that. Therefore they have multiple meetings, they do their level best to find out and in most cases rule out any misdoings in the family. But tell me, if a child or teenager tells, even if that is a lie, that they are hit a lot, or their father/mother are touching them in private parts...what would you, if you are a government agency, do? You only have small information at hand, would you let child stay with an allegged abuser, or would you first of all remove the child from a situation, or would you first conduct thoroughly investigation, even if that takes weeks, gathering evidence, and then take away the child from the situation? What would you think would have happened during that time. Multiple abuse?
In these cases, along with other serious cases, they remove first, investigate later. In most cases, nothing comes of it. In some cases the allegations are true.
In your case, what else would you want the kindergarten to do? In Norway, in extreme cases they are reprimended and fined. The teacher would have been suspended, and you should and would have gotten a sincere apology. What else?

I totally get what you mean and feel. I guess my trust in barnevern, in general, could be due to me being a pediatric nurse, with more than 20 yrs of experience. We have had some experience with barnevern, in cases where these children were in connection with us. There has been few cases, luckily, but we have seen different injuries, and even brain damage due to physical abuse. So yes people can be horrible, parents can be abusive monsters. So yes I agree that parents in general knows whats best for their children. I just dont agree with people claiming that parents are loving, dont mess with a mother, norwegian authorities are child kidnappers and so on.
Barnevern is doing a very necessary job, they are very much needed, but I do agree they need to reform themselves, they need to make few changes that brings "false" and misunderstanding cases to a very minimum. Yes they can in some cases be wrong.
People should google two of the most horrible cases of child abuse, in Norway. Christroffer-saken (Christoffer case) and Alvdal - saken (Alvdal case). There are english websites too. Honestly these cases were cases where barnevern didnt do their job. They didnt see the signs, maybe parents were doing great job with hiding the truth.
