Underrated: The "shhhh' James does in the intro. It's such a minor detail but it adds so fucking much.
It's just mind-blowing how these guys pulled off their best and most mature album while being 23-24 years old.
Really is. I couldn’t fathom writing stuff like that when I was younger and I had still been playing 8-9 years by then.
they were 20-21 when they wrote Ride the Lighting which is even crazier.
I think the same about Guns and especially Slash coming up with the stuff they came up with in their early 20s.
I'd say their best and most mature album is AJFA, not that they were much older when they did that than MOP, which is second best for sure.
@@alperyldrm6385I think the craziest thing about Ride the Lightning is how much an astronomical upgrade it was to Kill ‘Em All. The fact that everything good about their debut was improved upon and surpassed to the point that it outdated it’s predecessor is already insane, but also taking into account that both albums were only released a year apart from each other!? Wow!
Thankful they kept this one on the setlist!
I wasn't even expecting Leper Messiah to be played live when I travelled from Toronto to Montreal for the two Metallica concerts. After that song, they played Until It Sleeps, which was the only time Metallica played in North America last year. They had played Sleeps in Europe 2 or 3 times and those were the first performances since 2008. So I actually got to experience a few deep cuts across the two nights.
Lars has been so tight this tour. James is somehow in the best shape he's been in since the 90s, seemingly in a second prime with his vocals at almost 60(?!). Rob's backup vocals are ever improving, the bass mix is seemingly very loud as well. Kirk's solos on average have been cleaner. What a time to be a Metallica fan.
he turned 60 this year!
Yup best since cunning stunts.
Thanks for the support ❤
Ларс в хорошей форме кстати.
The Best Metal Band By Far.
Opinions are like a**holes ,everyone has one
@@donkeyballs3307 And mine is that some passive aggressive millennial/Gen Z keyboard courage operator hiding behind a charming fake name in his mom's basement is not entitled to his opinion, especially in a Metallica fan forum.
By 10x at least
@@stevenfunderburg1623 im older than your parents, gen z kid yea I wish,u weren't around in the 70's ,listening to the best metal bands that ever lived ,i was ,Metallica isn't one of em
@@donkeyballs3307 So basically Black Sabbath. Perhaps if you listen to "You Must Burn" you will realize A. Metallica love Sabbath and B. Metallica still totally have it. I'm Gen X Buddy, you are not older than my parents. And if you keep it real, "Donkey" then tell us your name 🤣😂😂
What a stellar performance of an absolute classic. Lars is absolutely nailing this
You do know that this has been edited right? That dubbelbase starting at 4:25 has been added. Great edit, but sadly Lars doesnt nail shit anymore
He always said that Leper Messiah is one of his favourite songs to play 🤘
@@DeanFr0mHell the direct live feed upload begs to differ...
Edited yes but Lars has been doing better in the past 4 years since he started doing a click track again.
@@DeanFr0mHell yes I am aware. But when I saw them play this in Amsterdam earlier this year it was very tight as well. Adding double bass is one thing, but overall tightness, fills you can see him play on film as well and tempo are things that are a bit harder to edit…
@@DeanFr0mHellthe 4:38 mark you can see that both bass drum heads are moving during that double bass section. They triggered it to make it louder, but he is doing it
Criminally underrated song 🤘🏻
My favourite song from my favourite album
@@johnwilliams8100 yessssss
True. I personally prefer this more than Orion ngl.
Love that song
One of my favorites. I love the riffs in this song and Lars playing is so damn good!
is his playing damn good? LOL. he cut half the double bass parts, cut a bunch of tom fills, etc. I get he has to adapt to age but yeesh. At least he kept the double bass during the pre-chorus and some of the solo/bridge
Hate to be one those guys but he is def not really playing that good. Not in this song at least. Weird fills, way too many snare rolls and cutting double bass parts.
@@Mjandroman he can any fills he wants. Who are the the drum police?
Lars playing good is about the skill of the average intermediate level drummer
@@sethsmith2608 it’s good enough for Metallica.
The only band that can go to every place around the world and have a sold out everywhere they play just doing what they love. Can't beat that!
Iron Maiden does it too. Always sold out.
Two nights in Paris weren't sold out.
iron maiden is a shit, bruce dickinson can`t sing anymore@@drewjohnson4794
@@drewjohnson4794 But only Metalheads listen to Iron Maiden
Bro I love Metallica but that’s not true lol. Olympic Stadium fits approx 60k so it makes this was sold out but Stade du France fits 90k and they had to close off the upper deck because it was selling poorly. Metallica’s threshold is around 60-80k. Anymore and it won’t sell out
kirk just nailed that solo, no wah, no unnecesary licks, just melody
Right? I wish he'd actually go back to crafting solos instead of just improvising and thinking he's actually good at it.
@@skullcrusher_1 i think he is in a comfort zone, that he never go back to composing solos like he did back in the day. Its sad, but now i think the he does right now, it not that bad
@@ignaciobordon2867 True... i also wish he started to build solos instread of ... just doing pentatonic runs with wha wha but ... i still like it :D i started to play guitar 37 years ago because of him :D still like his style but (Ride , Master and justice ) he was a killer !!! but i like all his work and i'm still a metallica fan since 1984 :D
I saw a video of kirk playing a solo once, and he was CONSTANTLY pressing his wah. I don't think he took his foot off the pedal lol.
I love when the stages have strategic wah pedals for kirk
I was there. My first show and they played harvester of sorrow and leper messiah right in front of me. My fav songs.
Thanks for the generosity 💕🙏💕
Same!
If you were there (I was), you felt double bass in your chest so hard you thought it was heart palpitations. Anyone who was there felt it. Anyone who says this was edited wasnt there. They killed it both nights in one of the worst stadiums in North America.
I was there in Jersey and the sound was incredible!
Yeah bro. I was there. That was amazingggg… the band and crowd were crazy.
@@caidemayeah Montreals Olympic stadium is notorious for having some of the worst acoustics in the world. I was there night 2 and Metallica definitely made the most of what the stadium could do
@@koleplay6194night 2 definitely sounded better than night 1
The band has been improving lately. They sound awesome, really.
METALLICA will be maybe the last and biggerest and best band in our human kind music evolution
今ごろこの曲にハマってる。
私の場合、こういうHeavyな作品は聴くほどに中毒になるし、ライブの演奏はまた格別!!!
This performance is straight up Powerful and amazing. These guys just keep getting better and James’ voice sounds incredible!
I saw this live when they were just in Dallas and it was my favorite song they played both nights. The absolute devastation of these riffs don't come through on camera. The palm muted chug sounded so bone crushing live and video doesn't do it justice. Just in case anyone thinks their sound has become less heavy over the years, you just need to see them live.
Metallica is not just a metal band. Its a lifestyle.
They are, in fact, just a metal band.
@@Aureas133🤓👆
@@Aureas133 no they aint
@@stringsf1 No, you and others assign a particular meaning or value to them, but that doesnt change who or what they are. My son means the world to me, but he is in fact 'just a kid'.
It was, in 90s.
A brilliant performance of a brilliant song. Key changes. "Call and Response" songwriting. Chromatic progressions. Three different tempos. Brutally effective drums. (Tama is going to sell some kit after this!) All wrapped up in a condemnation of those who take advantage of others. Take notes and memorize, because this is how it's done.
and this is my LEAST favorite song of MOP. Really shows how great the album is
Such a gem of a song. Hearing it 'live' in cinemas couple of weeks ago made me fall in love with it again and I have it on repeat since.😊
wow! They are still getting better! This sounds almost exactly like the record.
The most underrated song of Metallica... Is pure gold 💯
I must agree 🦅
Most underrated would be Escape tbh. Or trapped under ice.
5:24 - oh yeah!!! \O/
Still one of their coolest songs. It was interesting to learn that David Bowie inspired the title. Thanks Cliff..
Was there that day, I did not expect Leper to be played AT ALL, it was only the second song of the night and I already had broke my voice because of the DIE DIE part of Creeping Death right before. Night 1 was fuckin amazing.
4:25 Lars is KILLING it!! Awesome
CLICK CLICK CLICK
These classic Metallica songs still knock my socks off🤘🏻
The solo on this is so good. Every band member nailed their part.
Do a live in Greece too guys if you can pls 🤟🤟🤟😊😊
this perfomance sounds even better than recorded song, amazing cant stop listen to it
IWAS THERE !!!!
Powerful performance 🤘🤘🎸❤️ The best Forever METALLICA 💜🤘🎸 Thank you for sharing ❤️🤘
To me it was the highlight of the both concerts, I was definitely not expecting. Them to play Lepper Messiah with is one of my favorite Metallica songs
Probably my favorite song from MoP. Love that shot 3:31 James looking badass 🤘
5:39 looks good too
Love the sound of the tom toms.
So much energy that night! Montréal rocks! 🤟
They played Lepper live years ago and it didn't sound as tight and heavy as this! So impressive! 🤘🏻
increible como siguen sonando, la voz de Hetfield esta impecable
Y cada día más hábiles con las guitarras. Los solos no cuentan xd
I’ve been patiently waiting for the release of “Making of 72 seasons”! Please release!
My legacy is being in the video even for 3 seconds (5:06) grateful for the weekend well Spent in August!
This is amazing lars double james kirk rob fantastic \m/
Thanks for the generosity 💕🙏💕
Sounds great
Absolutely air-tight. Amazing.
Hell yeah baby
Thanks for the generosity 💕🙏💕
One of the best intros to a song!!!
The bridge never gets old
I LOVE this song
Solid performance by Lars. You can tell that he's putting the work in.
They are still on the way
Thank you for another post from the live in Montreal!! ❤❤❤🤘🤘🤘 You guys are the best!
Near perfect execution. Lars absolutely nailed it 🤟🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love when the band wears the same gear we can buy. Look at Rob wearin the (what I call..) the MET throwing star chain! Fucking COOL! It gives up a special kinship w/them!
The Best song ever!! 🖤🎸☠️
Robert looks so fit and active ...the way he moves he's enjoying himself ..the camera can't get enough of him ! ...Love you Robert !
This is the best ever mytallica 🤘
Spectacularly beautiful looking bass guitar.
Wish we could get a pro shot of the entire show
Blind devotion pays 😎🤘
Leper Messiah is an OG Metallica classic🤘🏼.
The greatest show on Earth.
Rob looks like he is having time of his life on the stage !!!
Hey, I am going to go to a metallica concert in Chicago IL. ROCK ON METALLICA!!!!!!!🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Stoked I got to see them play this in Arlington. MoP is such a great album.
me too
I was there 🤘🏻
Two nights were epic
You are ,,GREAT METALLICA !😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
WOW, I was there! I have been a fan since they started...AWESOME!
Leper is the most underrated track from MOP and second best on the album behind only Puppets itself.
Fucking love this song
i was there ! so badass
Amazing concert!
Absolutely stunning! They are like wine.
Hugs from Portugal. 🇵🇹🤟🏻
I was there, awesome show!!! 🤪
The freakin GOATS. Shred it boys!
Whoa that was tight.
Holy crap they played Leper Messiah and Ride the Lightning 🔥🔥🔥⚡️⚡️⚡️
Wow! They nailed that performance for the most part & Leper Messiah is a pretty tricky song, especially that middle part
It’s edited 😂
@@dennisrazzmatazz1352 proof? I have seen multiple live streams etc recently. They are that tight
@@metalpuppet5798 The proof is in this video brotha. This video is edited, vocals are edited, double bass is edited. So the proof is literally in this video. I also just saw them live 2 weeks ago. They are great and I am a huge Metallica fan. Also Why does it also take weeks for these videos to come out? It’s because they are tweaking it, all bands do it.
@@metalpuppet5798 One spot I can point to is 3:20. Notice the snare being rolled? That takes two hands and you can clearly see Lars not rolling the snare. It’s fine that bands do this, if I was in a band I would do the same thing. But nonetheless it’s still edited.
@@dennisrazzmatazz1352 I didnt mean they dont edit some things at all slightly. Like a tiny bit of tuning on vocals and a tiny bit of editing on the drums. But the performance is still there. Its not like Lars didnt still nail the song. And thats what I thought your comment implied
best first concert i could've asked for! 🎉🎉🤟🏼🤟🏼
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
What a creazy week-end in montreal yoy guys where on fire and thank you for playing every studio album including st-anger with the song dirty window.
Love this song so much!
One of the best songs from Metallica!!!!!
Great, great. Great ❤
Leper Messiah on point live. That was great.
The ministers of music ❤Metallica!! These are real men who have real families. Men who really care to make a difference in others lives. Men who show what a really good father would act like toward his son or daughter he loves. And those sons and daughters are you all. Just my opinion.
You seem like a 80s girl, damn you must've had a great time back then...
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Fuc yeah!!!
Metallica 4 Life 🤟😎
LISTEN TO THAT BASS WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
