Hope Papa heals fast 🥺
Whats wrong with him ?
What does that mean?
@@kamynsk3263COVID-19
Yeah, Papa Het will
@@kamynsk3263He got COVID
Kirk finally got to play Ride The Lightning 😢
WHERE'S RIDE THE LIGHTNING?
They’ve played it a lot the past decade
@@Dylanisa_BasketCaseeverytime I hear ride the lightning I can hear Kirk saying WHO DIDN’T VOTE FOR RIDE THE LIGHTNING?! TELL ME RIGHT NOW!!
@@goldenwolf8081fr, I can also hear him saying "fckin st anger" "fckin unforgiven 2"
@@NinoRockStari said the same thing lol
One of the best solos to ever exist
kirk's masterpiece
Amen! It just keeps going - so many stages. It's why this is my favorite Metallica song.
Metallica inspires me.. My parents said if i get 50K followers They'd buy me a professional camera for recording..begging u guys , literally
Begging...
It is one of the best. Not just from the solo but the nusic underneath it too. No better way to describe it then the word "epic"
@@namantherockstar bro that will never work.... xD
Bro… Kirk just absolutely ripped that solo like he was in his early 20’s! Holy moly!
Okay. Please. I beg you to listen to it with headphones on or something. I LOVE Metallica, every album except lulu. But come on. It’s so mistake ridden, yes I know it’s live it’s not supposed to be perfect but it’s just hard to listen to when you know what he USED to be able to sound like. This isn’t it. Nowhere close. One of the worst renditions of this solo I’ve heard and this is coming from a die hard metallica fan. Someone who’s not going to ever stop listening to them despite their recent shortcomings live.
@@hughjoelcock7145Lulu doesn't really count as a Metallica album
@@hughjoelcock7145I don't know how true it is..but supposedly he's been getting arthritis, I'm not trying to defend something , I'm not sjre how much it effects guitar playing
@@hughjoelcock7145 the version from cologne in June 2019 is near perfect. the solo in this one wasnt too bad but surely wasnt one of his best performances either
@hughjoelcock7145 lmao fuck outta here. I can find tons more examples of Kirk playing this solo sub-par for whatever reason may be. This here though is great. You want studio perfect solos, listen to the album. Hate people like you that demand it to be studio quality. What you get live is unique everytime. Be thankful.
Imagine being in your 60’s and playing this stuff live! Legends
There is only a handful or so people that can say that. Metallica is a group can say that. They can go across the world and do this
Since it’s impossible to listen to the solo only once, here’s the time stamp for the start of it for your convenience 2:58 🤘🏼🔥🤙🏼
Goddamn. I love this song.
thank's it's one of my fav tracks and solos ♥
I prefer 2:06
That wah accent at the middle was glorious
I felt THAT agaain!! This moment is SO EPIC. James screaming. Follow mee.. HEY!! HEY! and the crowd supporting Like the old times... and Kirk"s solo..!! OMG. i went back to the 80"s for few minutes. LOL
The solo was impeccable!!
Wrought with mistakes. If you mean it WAS incredible once upon a time, you’re correct.
Yeah, there were quite a few mistakes.
Not that it bothers me
@@rampager1990 no because the rhythm section is always so solid. Save Lars sometimes but he’s serviceable.
@@hughjoelcock7145 your better of course. As you say was incredible in a studio live is real its better Dik!
@@MickDoolan are you like, drunk or something? Come back to me when you can form a thought comprehensively. I don’t play guitar, but fuck me for having ears I guess.
THAT ROB SCREAM AT 4:50 WAS INTENSE
5:45-5:47
Rob's frightening scream only adds to this epic Metallica classic!!! 💙
I love rob but Jason was better at back up vocals
@@nicholasschmidt6835 you couldn't just resist right?get over it. jason left the band 22 years ago. his period was great. i love the guy. but stop comparing
the scream wakened james.
Every time I hear this song, I am reminded of wonderful young years!🤘🤘
how old are u bro
@@shred9475LMFAO
Nostalgia is not cool. Why not appreciate them as they are now? Evolve!
@@AvalaraeonI can see your point, but also it's good to appreciate the stuff that happened in the past.
Hell yea!!!😂
3:17 People of every generation is there for Metallica.. this is really amazing
This has to me my all time favorite metallica song. It's so heavy and even heavier live.
Same 🤚🏻
One of my favorites too
Ride the Lightning. Best album and best song🤘
I remember people saying Metallica sold out when they released it. They’ve been called sell outs every album after Kill ‘Em All
@@prodigalbrockI'm pretty sure they were called sellouts after the Load era.
I use to say that success is a disease only in the Metal world...for a bunch of people at least! Sell out means fucking nothing, stay in your garage, no crowd, nothing and there's no problem! You don't like an album, don't listen to it as simple as that!
@sebastienfayemendie2514 I agree! I have favorite songs from every Metallica album except Lulu.
@@michaelf.bender3718 Lulu ?. Whats that ?. Never ever heard of it 🙈🙉
I just love the moment James puts his foot up on the bass drum of Lars during that riff. This ist just an amazing image at 4:28
Caught that moment too. When I seen that my first thought was "Lars and Kirk must still feel 16 inside.. " The Smile from James as the double kick let's rip... aw man. I love Metallica.
Yea, been a while since I heard this track. This particular section reminds me so much of motorhead. Glad they're still doing it!
I’d always do that to my cousin whenever we jam 🤣
This live version was really perfect.. Kirk and Lars did an amazing job
They really stepped it up lately and in the other two are always incredible
It's cuase of his voice
One of the best solos ever by Kirk. Kicks ass.
It’s so silly when people say he’s not a good guitarist
Took my dad (72) to his first Metallica show in L.A. last month. By this song (third song of the set), he was pumping his fist in the air. I'm glad they continue to play this one regularly.
Ey he's 72 that's a good reason to listen to the new album 😅 in his case it's still 72 seasons but they're all summers! If I'm getting to 72 I'll do it but before that I'm gonna listen to summer of 69 😂
72 @m72. Pretty cool😊
Get well soon, james! The metallica family will always ride the lightning!
Lars ABSOLUTELY NAILED the double-bass!
Should have heard it on Fade To Black and Lux Eterna, my chest felt like someone had given me CPR
Here come the nerds saying "it was triggered" or "playback" 🤓
@adityahariharan581 lol yep, always posted by someone who wasn't there either. Haters gonna hate. Real fans buy tickets and go get their faces blown off by awesomeness.
@@Pablo-xf3ri I was in Theatres for the Texas one. Those Double-Bass were thunderous, pure eargasm.
5:44 you can actually hear Rob nailing that scream 😂😂😂
Whaooo 😂😂😂 his backing vocals are ever improving
even though their old they still rock their hearts out
CLIFF BURTON IS WATCHING,,,,,OLD THRASH IS GOLD
Great performance! A song I'd finally love to hear live is Invisible Kid from St. Anger... 20 years anniversary!
Hell. Yea.
That song was one I really related to after that album came out; think I had just turned 13. So many underrated/underappreciated songs on that album.
@@cbrindle91 Absolutely! Same here!
I can't see that happening
@@darrenschofield9595 They already performed quite a few unexpected classics this tour
They played Dirty Window at this show in MTL my buddy and I couldn't believe it it was EPIC!!!@@thomasvie7299
1:35 the way he sang 'Sweat-chilling cold' was sweat chilling cold 🤘
Two things stand out for me: James' singing. I miss his old scream, but I've never heard him singing as well as lately. It's awesome. And Lars - this performance was fantastic.
Their best album 🤘🤘
I agree 100%! Every rock press article on their best albums always puts Puppets at #1, but they’re all wrong. Lightning is #1. I even love Escape!
up there with master for the 1st spot
The fact I’m wearing the shirt too
THE best album
@@mickmarsbar81James hates Escape
By far the best Rock band on Earth today. Please let's end bad music and mediocre artists.
Love Metallica but saying they are the best rock band on Earth today is a bit shortsighted and narrowminded. There are plenty of great rock bands out there performing at or above Metallica's level.
You might want to Listen to Tool! 😃
I agree let’s end mediocre music bad music….
@@julianhemken6300out of all the bands you could have named to compete with Metallica you chose tool 🤣

One of the best songs off one of the best Metal albums of all time. Metallica. nuff said
FINALLY RIDE THE LIGHTNING I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THISSS
One of their best play's here. Mature Metallica sound even better to my ears.
Metallica is the best live band out there. They are incredible!
My favorite people since August of 83 at First Avenue
james i hope you’re feeling better. please go crazy september 9th. idk if i’ll ever see you guys again❤️
I was way up in section 431 and I could feel the kick drums in my chest.
Flash before my eyes ⚡️🤘🏻
All the good vibes Metallica has given me through the decades right back at them and especially back to James, in these days of Covid. 🌹❤️🖤❤️🌹🤘
Holy sh***t!!!! F**cking amazing
“Where’s ride the lightning? Why isn’t it on the list”
-Kirk Hammett
Wishing a speedy recovery to PAPA HET.
Get well Papa Het! We love you 🤘🤘🤘
I don't know what kind of a "variation pattern" (shrieks to almost death growls, to normal singing to more traditional Hetfield) James is doing here with his vocals, and whether this is even purposeful, but I really like it.🤘
I saw them play this live but in New Jersey. Epic show!
Metlife?
@@Rexchapmanmetal yes.
@Curiosity-band I saw them there too, it was an amazing show, no complaints
Great fuckin show august 4 metlife lost my voice for a couple days
@brian6357 so did I but I also went the 6th, the most metal weekend of my life
When I was just discovering Metallica as a teenager (like 1997/98) I loved this album but this song never grabbed me for whatever reason. But as I've seen more live versions of it over time I've really started to appreciate it. So so good. And WHAT a solo!
The harmonic intro / outro and Kirk's solo 100% carries this song. The riffs groove, but they're not mind-blowing.
Hi I totally agree the performance and camera work are bang on and it all delivers something really special here amazing 👍
True. I discovered this album around the same time as you. I could understand why the albums Master of Puppets and ...And Justice for All had the name of these songs, for those were two killer songs you couldn't pass by while listening the albums for the first time.
But I first thought the Rid the Lightning album should have been called "For Whom the Bell Tolls" or "Creeping Death" or even "Fight Fire With Fire", for all those songs impressed me so much more than the RTL song. When I got over 15 relistening of the album, I started to figure out how powerful were many of the songs I had actually skipped in the first place (Ride the Lightning, Fade to Black, The Call of Ktulu, Trapped Under Ice)
@4:16 the discerning listener can hear the extra grooviness when I was touching Rob's strings. What a show!
It's a perfect song. Simple as that!!
Really excited for November 3rd they're playing in St Louis I can't wait
After all these years this song sounds so actual. A true eternal masterpiece. Hearing it live is so thrilling; I dare not think how it should be with James or Kirk in front of you. I think I would die cause of emotion..please remember to come to Italy… we’re waiting for you with open arms.
I swear they are getting tighter than ever
I love seeing my Metallica look sooo happy when they play such an iconic song.
This is what I need before I go to bed! 🤘
Metallica siempre dándolo todo, la Energia está intacta!
I finally got to see them live for the first time recently, and they really impressed me. They are so talented.

This is the best song.
Can't WAIT to see Metallica & Tool @ Power-Trip!!
I love this song wish I could of seen it September 1st. Sounds amazing and hope you get better soon James🤘🤘
Metallica is still young !!!
So sad how many people are watching this concert live through their phone cameras... I was there, I took a couple pictures and videos to show where I was and what it looked and sounded like. I knew I could Watch a wobbly cell phone video of the show via youtube anytime I wanted, let alone professionally edits videos like this!!! So glad I didnt lose much of this experience from trying to film it myself!
I was in Hamburg and had someone next to me, holding his cell phone for both entire nights. Here you can see people in the snake pit with cameras. I can't understand paying 700 Dollar/Euro and more just for failing to hold a phone straight for 4 hours and getting terrible sound on top of it, instead of really experiencing the concert. I took a few photos before the concert of the crowd and of the video towers, and then I didn't touch my phone until 15 minutes after because the crowd was still huge.
Okay, was my first Metallica gig, maybe it's different after 30-40 or so, but still ... can't imagine getting to that point. Glad you had a good night.
@@FriedrichHerschelheyi always wanted to ask question from the audience as you were there have you notice the difference btw there previous audience and now I mean in 2009 or something people would go nuts in the pit and I feel now you can't feel the same energy from the audience now is that true as you were the part of that audience??
Same. I might have 7 minutes of video from both nights, if that. I was too busy rocking out.
They where on fire in montreal amazing setlist for both day incredible performance just a perfect weekend
This was one of the nights of my life, I fucking love Metallica
