Making A Track In Three Minutes With The Chase Bliss Habit

- Habit is a new lovely loop guitar pedal by the super-combo of @Knobs and @ChaseBlissAudio. It records a 3 minute loops constantly in the background, and scans through that. This is a concept that fits my style very well, and I had fun from the start. Here is a track I made in 3 minutes for the compilation "Habitapes" they plan to release soon on cassette.

EEEEE
How might we buy the cassette tape they are releasing?
I see the typical guitar pedal reviewers are having a hard time with this one, haha. So far it’s been harpists and synth/keys folks posting content.
An Emily Hopkins viewer by chance? ;)
I agree, this feels like a very non-guitar (or at least non-pedal-review-guitarist) pedal and I love it!
Most guitar players arent abstract artists I've realized. I love my blooper and mood, this is candy
I am a visually disabled guitar player .Sound is my toy.I have a Mood and love the interactive ,In the moment nature of that little box of wonders! This new device is going to be a lot of fun when coupled with the Mood. I plan to use them live at Star And Meteor Shower viewing parties on Madeline Island in, Lake Superior this summer.
Yeah, a lot of guitarist don’t have the mind set for these types of things. But some guitarist do get it.
@@marcelchaloupka it's not just guitarists specifically, just people in general. Outside the box is often uncomfortable or too much a stretch for some people to want to do often.
Something wonderfully filmy about this! Would fit great in a cue outlining a characters anxiety, restlessness, or indecisiveness.
Wow, some of your finest work in my opinion. It sounds really organic and acoustic. Great stuff!
Aside from music tech knowledge, this track shows a really tasteful ability to improvise and put musical ideas together! Improvising something short and cohesive like this as a performance, especially solo, is extremely difficult. I really enjoyed the track, in fact it is the best piece of improv I have heard in months! Thank You !!!
That looks cool; I immediately think it might be fun to walk around a city or countryside feeding it sounds and seeing what comes back out of it.
Mmh, cool idea!
Great idea - run it with a battery pack…
A sound collage, that is a beautifully concise way of describing what you made. The cross over with scissors and glue and magazines feels so poetic in this context. I almost felt your "one take" live creative nerves with this which adds an authentic tone to it. Thanks for everything you do.
I will be buying my first synth this weekend. Your videos are always very beautiful and inspiring
What you getting - and why ;)
just git my first synth 5 days ago. it's a fun journey😎🥳 it's 0 Coast by makenoise
Get ready for a rebirth. It’s a wonderful realm.
@@markbelcher1777 im stuck between the korg monologue and the arturia microbrute. I think i may get the microbrute as it will force me to learn how to proporly learn bare bones synthesis but on the other hand the korg seems to be very portable and i like the sequencer
@@78thandSynth i played the moog grandmother at a guitar center and i felt like i discovered a sound i had always known but never played it was a great expierence and i fell in love
What a great demo and performance! I love the spontaneity of the piece - it helps show the creative mind and heart of HAINBACH
Oh yes! Thanks - so excited to dive deeper with ours - going to be making a Habit track soon…
you have the most eclectic and esoteric gear collection and I love it!
its not the gear its the genious of how he approaches synthesis and composing!
This turned out so cool! Excited to hear the whole "Habitape" :)
Need a whole release with these kinds of tracks. I sold all of my hardware some years ago. Makes me wanna dive right back into the rabbit hole
You could do so much with just this device and any noise source. Any synth on your phone could become and amazing audio source.
Do itttt
Love this piece, great work!
It seems like a lovely tool to have fun with as a way to improvise and respond to pedals randomized and selective repetition to what was played previously. Very enjoyable. Thanks.
The pedal sounds great, but - wow - a working Claviset! Mine falls apart if I even look at it. :) I like the music here, very soothing.
I’ve had monophonic hearing for years and when I ordered the Habit yesterday I realised it’s monophonic nature. It’s not a problem for me in fact it was a relief that I didn’t have to anticipate how it would sound in stereo.
Absolutely beautiful textures. I love the plucks
Love the way you used this! Sounds very unique and cinematic
Oh my goodness! How amazing!
very cool demo, thanks for sharing.
That's a really, really cool video. Well done!
I’m so jealous, it looks and sounds so cool!
That weltmeister clavi sounds wonderful! A half speed replay of this recording could very well be a dreamscape track. Excellent video as always! Improv guys will certainly appreciate the live play regardless of the level bumps or whatnot :)
Great sound. What is also great is that sweater. I love it and want it!
madlib would KILL this
I like the arpeggio on the East German haunted Wurlitzer as the tune came around to the final stretch. Nice job!
Wonderful result!
Mesmerising… and agree that is one haunted instrument.. love it 🙏
Lovely, as usual!
The piano sounds incredible! 😮 I love it!
Hi Hainbach! Great music as always! You are truly inspiring BUT my god if I love that sweater! It’s beautiful!
Great sounding!
Very interesting how the ambiance suddenly departs a melancholic Eastern European vibe to vacation in Ethiopia about halfway through.
Those accordion like sounds were so fascinating
It sounds like I'm very tired and trying to remember a Francois de Roubaix song but in the best way possible 😻
Very cool!
beautiful!!!
Sooo yummy!!! Very inspiring music and pedal. I love it 😍
That is significantly more compelling than the other demos I've heard! I was thinking it was comparable to a Mimeophon, definitely seems to be its own thing though. Thanks!
This is very cool. I'd love to see more of these brief real time recordings with different gear.
That’s beautiful
Fascinating pedal, I really like the idea behind it. I have one of those Weltmeisters! It's never worked properly but you might have just inspired me to get it sorted.
Awesome
Now that’s how you use these pedals to get amazing textures.. Kudos to you
Wow this is awesome!
It seems that Chase Bliss made this pedal just for you!👍👍
Glorious
I recently picked up 3 tape based Iner devices (Royal de luxe, Report 4400 Stereo and CR210) and then stumbled on your videos. Didn’t even realize we live in the same city, your videos helped me out with usecases for these devices, but I need to overhaul them first 😅
Nice one!
This sounds fantastic. You have way better old synthesizers, than my old Synthesizers.
2:43 For a moment it sounded like you were being accompanied by an accordion. So beautiful
I do not understand how any of this works, and that’s such a great feeling.
Everytime I see your old and lovely instruments the more I wish for a specific instrument. The idea I would like to share: some kind of player instrument that contains samples from the old gear (and/or modeled) but also with:
- A bank with additional clicks and mechanical sounds to add/blend. It differs when you click an old style button, membrane, switch etc. They all have their different styles to achieve what they do but they can also sound and feel different.
- Tiny delays (imperfections of the device/bad contacts) in sound when pushing a key, not only the sounds it also affects the note played (simulating the hands/style of the player).
- A “chorder”
- A big fat looper for effects.
Sick as always. It felt like listening to a musical version of a numbers station. Nice man. When is the compilation released?
A few weeks off I think? All depending on tape production speeds.
This video was very captivating
Oh man there has never been a quicker trunaround from demo to purchase in my life what are you doing to me Knobs
Hainbach, can you make another video showing off the features and explaining a bit more on how this pedal works? I got somewhat of an idea but it was very vague at least in my mind. It'd be appreciated! I could always look it up, but it's more fun to watch your writing process along side you in-depth knowledge of such things.
Quirky and fun accomplished, my mind is blown and confused.i want one.
Heavy film soundtrack vibes from this little jam I dig it
I don't know about Habit, but I love your music! :-)
sick
Cool, could imagine just feeding something very simple like minimal music like arpeggios or drones into it and this thing would focus on different bits and make the music come alive.
I finally got my hands on two cassette player on for recording and one for anything ells, just need some blank cassettes.
'Ergonomic Workspace Allocations' by Hainbach.
Sounds great!
Saturation turned up to 11 for this video! Lovely sounds ;)
All tape recorded 🥰
I wonder which dip switch combination you used and which combination you are using nowadays most often? Beautiful little track by the way
I always love seeing the artists that ChaseBliss reach out to, and this is a very pleasant surprise. This pedal certainly adds a distinctive Knobs influence, which is also great to hear.
Strangely haunting and beautifully weird😀👍
Very nice and kind of up my street as I'm not a proper musician so I love all random stuff. Is it comparable to the microcosm?
Btw thanks for the lovely gig at cafe oto, it was very nice to meet you.
It’s more quaint than the microcosm, more playful less orbiting in space. Complimentary I would say
i want to see the movie to witch this beautifull piece may be the soundtrack
Parts of this reminded me of series of unfortunate events
Is it impossible or very difficult to modulate to another chord with this pedal?
👏👏👏👏👏
Sehr sehr schön. Gibt mir dir Hauschka - Ferndorf Vibes.
Vielen Dank!
Hi, wie würdest du Chase Habit/Chase Bliss mit dem Hologramm Microcosm vergleichen? Welches empfiehlst du mehr in Bezug auf Vielseitigkeit?
Vielseitigkeit: Eventide H9. Epische Weiten aus fast nichts: Microcosm. Inspiration und Reflektion: Habit
Nice, glitchy effect. Can see this doing a similar job to the Microcosm (but hopefully a little less expensive?)
This could perfectly fit in some horror game :)
Ich brauche den Pullover auch. Wo gibt?
Whats the price of this thing?? seems super cool!
Awe man I just preordered a Wingie2, I can’t afford to keep up
oh, wow!.. is it another obsolete chase bliss pedal? great video as always, though
It's like Tom Waits with dementia.
The beginning has a KRAFTWERK-like sound to it.
Give it a year and I fully expect this to be a sample on the next injury reserve album
How did you hook up multiple instruments to this pedal?
He’s using a passive mixer. He mentions it around 4-4:30
Everybody’s playing with the Habit today, it seems. I’m very interested.
Dreamy..
A wonderful broken toy / Harry Potter feel to it.
Hey Hainbach hello. You still using your pedal blooper?? If not I would like to buy it to you 😋
Love it, got it tied to my Crumar 🥰
Видео просто супер! Хочу видеть полноценный трек. Если это будет присутствовать в каждом видео, будет просто замечательно!!! Приведу в пример "
The Teaching Tool That Makes LoFi Beats To Study To" это видео
You warned us that the Claviset was haunted, but I wasn't prepared for just *how* haunted it sounds. Does anyone know any priests?
can i sample dis
wäre ein guter Hit auf einer der früheren Mille Plateaux Scheiben geworden
it just me or it sounds like a sundanese kecapi suling composition sometimes...
maybe it just me
love it tho 👍♥️♥️♥️
I vwish I could afford this one. Maybe later.
Habit vs Mood ?
Mood for live, Habit for Studio.
this is such a cool pedal. i like this demo a lot. you’re really weird looking
That's not very nice.
Thermae into Habit into Blooper ……… good luck!
I've heard that it's hard to break a Habit.
This pedal takes control away from you so that you learn to listen to the magic of chaos.
oh no, don't do this to me! do i really have room... do i really have the *money* to drop this alongside the blooper and mood? oh no!!!!
