I'm a sample composer and have a mood, blooper and thermae. I often find myself running tracks (synths, piano, vocals, guitar, etc.) Out of my daw, into my pedals, back into my daw. Then I will just let it loop while playing with the knobs. Then I just chop up the moments that I like for ear candy. I get results that are really hard to get with plugins. So fun!
That was really fantastic, that's a really practical explanation and application of Habit and Thermae and how you can use and apply these pedals. You taken great steps on demystifying Habit And great playing!
Thanks. Very helpful video, and really liked how you compared these two. I watched because of Habit, but I'm going to go check out the Thermae now too. BTW, I also didn't have more than a couple pedals before I started watching TPS. :)
Yup! TPS has helped me buy way too many pedals than I need. Most importantly, I've learned my rig, I've got tonal references and I began understanding sounds and tone.
Thanks for helping me realize I just made an pix mistake selling my thermae and habit 🤦😢. I’m not a techy person at all but want to be. I just haven’t had the patience with them so I went with an easy delay pedal. And now I’m realizing the mistake I made. Great job! Love the playing!
The one thing common to Chase Bliss is that 'ethereal tuning.' Notes always sound like they have a chorusing effect, even on the most basic setting. I'm comparing them to something like the Memory Man.
Man. I've been wanting a Digitally controlled Bucket Brigade delay with MIDI, so automatically looked towards the Tonal Recall. Or the Bondi Artvan Delay. They are both discontinued, so the Thermea has been in my thoughts. Now this video!
A helpful comparison as I have both but have been wondering if habit is redundant to thermae and vice versa. I know this isn’t relevant to the video, but what is that stand you have the pedals on? It looks homemade, did you find it on Etsy?
Your tone is heavenly. I have a blooper So if I were to buy another delay it would be a Thermae. The habit is coool tho. Knowing me I’ll get both. But i need to chill out cuz I like too much. 😎 and I already have way too many options on my board.
Sale only looking and hearing you close my eyes and beam my to some very interesting and distanced galaxy , You are fantastic 🎸 player ! Do sljedećeg videa , svako dobro i Sretan Uskrs unaprijed. Salute.
Can you create actual songs with this type of pedals or is it just like Eurorack where people generally just make outrageous noises you can enjoy for 30 seconds and never want to listen to ever again?
A lot of these wild pedals most likely will never be used for songs but can be useful for personal entertainment or incorporated for sound effects in a song or for ambient artists. On the pro level it can be used for movies and other videos
I am in doubt of what of the two delays to get! Can you help me? I am looking for a delay midi pedal from Chase Bliss to combine with the timeline. HELP! :)
Consider making your own, from hardware store stuff, if you have a garage, or someplace to work. I make all my own stuff, like this, because it’s personally rewarding, I get just what I need (size/shape etc), and I don’t have to wait for shipping. Start with a electric drill, and one of those cheap plastic miter saws. With that, some inexpensive wood, and a box of screws, and you can make all kinds of things 😊
@@SashaIvantic …and 30 presets that can be tweaked with said faders and saved on the fly, and easily accessible for muppets like me. Even better with a MIDI controller, but not essential. The 1978 is one of my pedals of the decade. Great video as always, Sasha. I’d been looking at the Thermae too.
Why does the sound break-up and crackle so much with these pedals? I always avoid that kind of noise. I find it irritating and amateurish sounding. Is there some bad gain-staging going on in the setup? or is this inherent in the design of the pedals internally?
It is a feature and can be configured using the dip switches on the pedal. You can fine tune different degradation and noise artifacts or eliminate them from the signal completely
That degradation is the benefit of these vintage style chips. Perfect repeated notes sound sterile. Some warm modulation is soothing to the ears. I think you're confusing analog distortion with digital distortion. He's got the degradation set really high with the Int 1 and Int 2 knobs while the modulation dip switch in the back is engaged.
Lol. Amateurish? Look to solve your problem. Just grab a boss DD 7 use a digital delay and that’s it. This is a characteristic highly sought after an analog delays. It is what it is most people love that sound. But to say amateurish, or whatever it is laughable.
@@alexlifeson8946 can you elaborate a little Just curious because I have this pedal and the int 1 and 2 are the pitch settings for the pitch shift but if you flip the modulation dip switch, it’s rate and depth modulation but I don’t see anywhere where it’s the amount of degradation. Please fill me in if I’m wrong I’d love to know. 🙏

Im a samplemaker too and i do the exact same😂 what is your favorite pedal?
You're a delight, Sasha. This is super useful for us who have a hard time understanding CBA gadgets.
A year on and this is still vital watching for anyone interested in delays - it’s making it harder and harder to resist the pull of Thermae, though…
I have Thermae and Habit and they both sound incredible together

Cheers Dan and Mick! TPS!
Sasha, what a joy to have found your channel. I love your style!
Thermae is it's own music genre
Brilliant as always my friend ! One problem tho .... Now I want both!😂
Ahh man, some truly beautiful music in this video. Wonderful playing. Thank you.

Love the video, thanks man! Exactly what i was looking for. Unfortunately they are different enough for me to need both.
WHAT A TONE. Eargasm.
Super awesome shirt! 😎 Thank you for the DEMO! 🔥
The answer for preview image question - you should get both)💙💛
Wow! Just kind of stumbled onto this video. I really love your style. Subscribed! Keep up the great work!!
Thanks a ton, Mr Midi Guru! 🤘

How long did you own each before selling them?
@@stephenbeyer the thermae a few months. Habit maybe a week. I didn’t like that I couldn’t do a tape and tweak the eq as well.

Heston Blumenthal is a genius I think the same can be said of Joel. Really nice person too!
What an absolutely excellent demonstration, ive subscribed 👍
Both sound amazing... I have the habit but really want a thermae
very cool demo; 👍👍
I hope the Habit will be soon next to my Thermae on the board.

Those are made by Marcus Dluxe, you can find him if you Google that!
What kind of guitar is that? It’s gorgeous, couldn’t quite get the name right when you said it
The white one? That’s a Baum Wingman
I know it is a large part due to your to your playing, but the pedals sound very musical too. Great presentation thank you, full marks.
I bought thermae yesterday
And also I have a habit
Buy I like your shirt a lot 🔥
Thanks!
where do you get your shirts bro

Any idea about the core “delay engine” in Habit? If thermae is bucket brigade, is it the same or…something else?
Habit is digital
awesome
Where can we find an upright board like that? Perfect for the avid knob twiddler!
Google for Marcus Dluxe!

What is that guitar you are using?
Where did you get that awesome shirt?
That’s from Scotch & Soda! It’s from last year so I don’t think it’s available anymore. But they have awesome stuff!

Check out the UA Golden reverb, it’s every bit as good as the Chase imo and half the price.

Watch out OP, the opinion police are out there.
Glad that not everyone likes these glitches, but like @ST3LTH said, you can dial those out.
Who else is here because of "That Pedal Show"
All the delay pedals in the world are sold out right now. Or did I miss something else?
This guy loves hearing himself talk. Just play the pedals 🤷🏻♂️
