I never would have guessed that one of the best musical parts of any Pedal Zone video is when you stop playing, look at the camera, pick up a mug, and take a sip. Incredible sounds.
So glad you exist, to keep providing sonic moments of zen, in a world where everything else is pretty crazy. Love this new format, too! Short and Sweed sounds is the perfect name for it.
This is the video that convinced me to drop the cash for a Habit. I appreciate the thoughtfulness you put into all of your content and the obvious joy you glean from all of the pedals you feature. Tusind tak!!
With a ton of craziness here in Florida with hurricane Ian I needed this! Thank you for making my morning better 🤘😁 I wasn’t expecting for it to let you zen out! That is amazing!!
Oh my...short and sweet, but also deep and expansive. If this was an audio only upload, I would have assumed I was listening to a modular synth performance. Frippertronics taken into deep space. Wonderful my friend! ❤️
Thank you so much, my friend. Yeah, it's pretty mind-boggling what a single pedal is capable of these days. Habit is just an endlessly deep ocean of sounds.
dig the shorter format and and the quick dive into one-ish setting with a twist. you always extrapolate the best sounds out of the best pedals. keep on slayin sir.
I freakin love your demos man. The ending when you changed the Scan knob was beautiful. You had something similar in the Afterneath V3 video and it sold me on that one as well. Love it!
Lovely. I've been playing then letting the ambience of habit + other atmospheric pedals wash over me. Chase bliss knows how to make some interesting pedals. Great job displaying it!
Love it! Really inspiring. Will definitely try the setting you showed. Rolling back the modify knob after playing pitch-shifted, sounds like the best sonic companion to enjoying a cup of tea.
Thank you so much, Cohen. Always means the world coming from an ultra creative like you ❤️ Regarding visibility, the UA-cam algorithm works in mysterious ways 😂
@@thepedalzone it’s my fault! Making content around pedals so much, I kind of avoid watching more pedal content…but I miss out on a lot. Most of it I catch on IG, but I’m trying to change that! I’m always inspired by your playing every time I see it!
I picked up the habit pretty close to release, love that it can be a basic digital or analog sounding delay. But at the same time can get real crazy in sooo many ways. Very happy to see you jam with it. You always make such beautiful music/riffs and you did it again!
Great video. I thought this pedal was interesting as I've heard it in other videos. Every other video made it a very experimental music pedal and it is, but!! You managed to tame it and make music and this is the first demonstration I've seen of that. It's not just bleeps and bloops, but music arranged in a way that is pleasing to listen to. I haven't bought it yet, but this video is making me reconsider.
Excellent stuff! You have inspired me to explore more sonic textures available to us now, when previously I would have just focused more on fancy noodling
This demo reminds me of the Hedra demo you did in which you did your own Ballerina 12/24 version, except this time, the ballerina can dance at different tempo. Very good demonstration of this pedal capabilities.
Very cool to hear that the video gave you some new ideas on how to use Habit. The interplay between Size and Spread can create some truly magical things. Everything from multi-tap delays, weird modulations, faux reverbs and long looping echoes reside there.
Yes! I've been wavering between which to get...Blooper or Habit...I have a Boss RC30 Loop Station and I believe if I get Habit, & just utilize it with the loop station, I'll have the best of both worlds.
Love your channel and while not even done with the video I want to just bust out my Habit and try this! I'm still fairly new to pedals (and coming from the synth world) but I love the way you present things and have even bought some pedals (like the Dweller) after seeing what I can do with them on your channel. Also I debated mentioning this, but you might want to know; on the text box labeled "Get into the Habit" you left the n off "context" (last word in that textbox).
It's because it all just sounds good. Serious high-quality effects in this thing. Even if you just use it as a normal delay, it's one of the finest digital delays out there sound-wise.
I've heard of drop the mic but you could literally drop the guitar and walk off stage for half an hour and everyone would still be there mesmerized when you come back on
I'm so glad I found you reviewing this! The pitch dropped reverse delays truely are magical. I can see this inspiring a lot of songwriting however, I do wonder about reproducibility for live use. What is your opinion on that? Is this a pedal you could see yourself using live or does it only work as an inspiration-machine?
I don't have any Chase Bliss pedals, I find them too pricey, but they are a genius company. Thanks Stefan for a little glimpse of what their new pedal can do.
Not really pricey when you think of the pedal providing something that nothing else does and all of CB pedals have many options to do many things. Well worth the money.
If I can learn how to use them, then anyone can. Some of them do require time, like learning a new instrument or any new skill for that matter. But that's all it requires. The process from not knowing anything, to knowing something, to knowing a lot, is the fun part. I'm happy you found the video helpful. Hope you give Chase Bliss a go at some point. I believe in you 😊❤
Ha! Thank you ❤😴 Honestly don't know. I haven't messed with the setup of the pickups. To me, it doesn't look more raised than what you would normally see on a T-style guitar. The McNelly pickups in my Jennings are just really great sounding pickups.
are there any pitch delays that can do what happens at 3:30 ish? the habit is surely unique but who WANTS to pay chase bliss money if i can get the sound i want from something hopefully cheaper
Do you know how good your music is? Where's the album my dude!! (Side note I absolutely love Habit, it's my favorite Chase Bliss pedal by far and probably my most inspiring pedal of all time)
You had me at “Frippertronics”. With the way technology has transformed and has transformed the way we think of possibilities, I am stuck here wondering if there is a way to make a Frippertronics reel to reel delay looping interface that would be less encumbering and easier to use …. But then I realize listening ti what you’re doing here that there is no reason to even imagine it given what we have available in a single standard stomp form factor these days. Going to check, but have you/ do you used the blooper?
There's some crossover between the selectable delay effects. But Blooper lets you use two effects at the same time, whereas Habit only allows for one. That's the only overlap though. Other than that they are very different devices.
Actually never owned or used a Helix, so that’s probably pretty far away. But I do enjoy making patches for multi-fx units. I currently use a Boss MS-3 on my own board, and that thing can definitely do a lot. Might check out a Helix someday. Who knows 😊
Do you have an artist page where you load up music no talking? I would really enjoy to hear only musical pieces like the hedra end jam, I often come back to it at any day
Sure, you can get some nice pristine digital delays as well as more washy modulated textures, all something that Slowdive incorporates into their songwriting. But this pedal might be a little bit overkill, if you're just looking to cop some dream pop/shoegaze textures. But if you want a pedal that does a ton of experimental stuff as well as the more classic dreamy delay stuff, then Habit is a solid option.

That looping delay - how long did you have to tweak to it would rhythmically match your playing? :) I don't have experience with Habit but I feel like it would be a very time consuming task to have both delays match your rhythm, no?
I think the Habit has the ability to sync to a MIDI clock - so maybe that's how he did it? I've always wondered that too though... I want to get one but delays can be tricky and get messy so fast if you're not super precise in your tempo and playing!
I used to have a Ct5 and now have the Habit. It can definitely cover some of the same ground, but Habit is capable of a lot more and I find the controls to be more intuitive as well.

Is it simpler than tensor or not?
Definitely not simpler than Tensor. But also does a lot more than Tensor. So all depends on what you want
I bought tensor after your video but it’s very difficult since it doesn’t have any tap tempo
Wait!! Maybe i’m understanding the machine…ahahahha
