We've made a calculator roguelike! Yes, it's not a joke. A boring device has turned into an interesting strategy, where each calculator you collect sets its own style of play. Can you count all the numbers and prove who's the king of calculations here?

Math lesson time! The modulus operator (%) is simply for getting the remainder when you divide the left by the right, so 21 % 5 = 1, because 21/5 =4 with a remainder of 1. Unfortunately, the wording is a bit unclear on the tooltip, but that's what that operator does. It's mostly used for programming purposes from my understanding, so most people don't really encounter it, so I'm not surprised it was a bit tricky to understand.

    • @YuumiGamer1243

It’s also something people are constantly doing in their head whenever they do clock arithmetic. You mod your answer by 12 or 24 when adding or subtracting hours from a certain time. For example 11 pm + 4 hours = 15 % 12 = 3 am. Or 23:00 + 5 hours = 28 % 24 = 4:00

Mod2 is indeed used quite often in programming as the simplest way to find if a number is odd, since if a number is odd, the mod2 will return 1, giving an easy conversion to true

The Mod button is like division, but takes the remainder instead. If you divide 16 by 15, you get 1, with a remainder of 1. If you divide 23 by 4, you get 5 with a remainder of 3.

I feel like it would be better if you had your buttons refresh, and the targets were moving.
Meaning like on the later phases, you would need to get 88,then 55, then 33 etc. then you go to shop.
But like having to re-buy basic functions like multiply/subtract, etc. doesn't feel too good.

This has been explained a couple times already but let's see if I can make it a little simpler. The mod (%) operator. It's really only useful in programming although I'm sure there are some weird mathematical functions that actually use it in the real world. Great use case for programming is to determine if a number is even or not. For example to determine if X is even: if (x%2 == 0) return true. So if X=5 then 5%2=1 (because 2 can go into 5, 2 times evenly with 1 left over. So 2*2=4 and 5-4=1)... ok I didn't make that any easier/simpler.....
