Statistically every relationships fails... especially rebound ones.. that does not mean you sit there and hope and arguably wait until their "new" relationships fails so you can get your new chance.
Start by telling yourself: He/she is no longer with me anymore. What he/she does in his/her private life is no longer my business.
Just like how gravity is a theory in science, you never meet the one or the love of your life. Because there is always someone prettier and better for you than your ex. There is always room for improvement.

I’ve been thinking about this. Imagine having to be in a relationship immediately after ending one. To me- that sounds like hell. I kinda feel sorry for a dude who monkey branches and can’t be alone. You miss out on so much good stuff without that single life in between. I wouldn’t be able to fully appreciate the “new” partner without time to reset, recharge and reflect in between.
I love "monkey branches" - in my experience guys never leave you unless they have someone else lined up!

@@BigSoul29 things are better than ever i had 2 more relationships since then and I used all the experience I got from the one I described above..I have to say no contact works,as long as you treated the other person good and when things ended you were respectful they are not going to forget you, the first girl after things ended for her personal reason kept reaching out to me constantly after we broke and met with me but she couldn't make up her mind so eventually I had to move on and the second it was 6 months she returned to her long relationship with her old boyfriend and after 3 months she came back asking to go out and she made a mistake, unfortunately although I don't keep hard feelings I couldn't take her back after she had been with somebody else, no contact definitely work people!

Bout 8-9 months on for me. I still watch rory’s videos even though I don’t need it as much now. I hope everyone’s in a better position now. Looking back many months back, I couldn’t recognise myself either. Pain and adversity changes us, for the better if we take them in stride

When I been dumped, I start to no contact, I learn languages, helping boys to study, I hit so hard the gym, I learn to surfing the waves, and one day, my ex reach out me, she call to tell that she found a boyfriend, she only call me to say this, what that f*** is this? Was so cruel, but after all, today I am of large more better person, I leveling up too much than ever and I think that this couldn’t been possible if she dont break the relationship, Im dreaming for the day that the lockdown and de pandemic comes down. She left for someone else, so I had to experience the pain of being dumped and betrayal at the same time. I have been in NC for 20 days and I'm still feeling pain like day one. The hardest part is walking up every morning and realizing she is not there anymore.

A year ago, I had the most devastating breakup with my ex of 5 years. Listening to rory and the dating guy opened my eyes and helped me regain myself and self respect.
After a year of no contact, he came back and wanted to date again. However, I no longer wanted to date him.
Take care of yourself even if its hard because if the relationship was really really good, they would come back.

Who has had it where you have done everything right and your feeling great, recovered pretty much from the BU and maybe girls are messaging you etc and a date lined up. Then Facebook shows you a memory of the past flame of your ex. There no emoji to show that that turn of events, you feel like you get pushed back a good couple of months of brain work there. Keep strong guys.

Rory, through my breakup your videos have taught me a valuable lesson/skill; When life hands you adversity, you are the only one who dictates how it effects you.
I have tried to slowly implement this into my life; when ever something has come up that creates a emotional response, I force myself to say “good” along with why it is good. It sounds so simple but just saying/doing it and than ignoring all negative thoughts, after a while, begins to become a muscle reflex.

My ex can date whoever they want. I broke up with my ex last year and I did everything you said you should do during no contact. I haven't heard from my ex since but my life is a lot better and I've met someone knew who is more compatible so thank you Rory. I agree with the meditation I been doing meditation for over 10 years and it’s helped me throw a lot of breaks ups and it’s even helped me when my boyfriend died 10 years ago when I was 27years old.

My husband and I seperated (trial seperation) after 20 years, 4 months ago. I know he has been casually seeing someone but not who, and I was mostly ok. When I found out who, I realized there's no way in hell it's going to end well for him. I can't go into detail about why I know but I do. I SHOULD feel better knowing this. I feel worse because I also realized he was most likely messing with her before he left. I now feel like I'm back to day 1 😪 with the pain except I dont want him back. I want this to go from a trial seperation to a divorce....like yesterday.

My ex went really bad on me. Texted me saying she was sorry, wishes me well, and so on so forth after 5 months NC. Since then I’ve been missing her more. I was doing pretty good there for a second. Dating, friends, promotion at work. Can’t help but wish she’d ask for me back. I couldn’t take her back but it would be nice.

I am sad because I thought that she was the one, but not because I lost her, but because I was wrong. Turns out she was not really who I thought that she was.

You get to decide what it means. I won't lie - it is impossibly hard to make it mean something positive right after you find out. I've been there myself from my EX Fiance who cheated after 10 years together. However I (when I was ready) made that mean something positive for my life. You know who I am BECAUSE of that situation. You can do this, I promise.

It is incredibly hard right now knowing she’s just a mile away and yet they have near instant access to each other at any time. They could be being intimate at any moment (esp at night and weekends to come) which makes me utterly sick with jealousy.
We broke up just two months after his arrival. I don’t think she cheated but I do suspect his presence fresh in the background of her daily life was an indirect factor - giving her another option. It was just bad timing that his entry coincided with me making errors in maintaining her attraction.
Ultimately that this has happened makes me feel that our LTR never stood a chance under such conditions. That their interest was mutual from the start and he was irresistible to her, in essence. And given they will likely share a house (with others) for sometime to come, particularly under lockdown restrictions, the events that have played out were inevitable. (And I actually predicted and feared this would happen post-BU so my terrible premonitions came true!)
And how I’m left feeling is collateral damage while she gets the unbelievable fortune of having The Parisian just swan into her life, upgrade from me (at least superficially), probably fall in love again while I have nothing and have to start from complete scratch...

@@yumnaaaa461 She sent a friend request on my father's Facebook page a few months ago and removed it after. I don't know whether she did it on purpose or not, but now it doesn't matter. Afterwards, she's with another person and I don't think I should consider someone who left me when I was going through a hardship in my life. I'm okay since she said to me by herself in our last conversation that I had been a good boyfriend/fiance, and at this point, I think it's better to start with another person, and if there's no other person to come along, I'll keep trying to move on with my life anyways.

I messed the relationship up because I was lying to her. We tried establishing a friendship for the last 5 months but yes didn’t work I still have feelings she doesn’t she wants to move on I was acting needy and jealous so now she blocked me and we have zero contact . I know she’s in touch with someone from the past no clue if romantically or only as friends. But I want to get to the point where I can be at peace. There’s no timeline for rebounds, it varies for individuals. It may be one year on and she still hasn’t processed the breakup properly because she’s simply chucked them under the rug. The same problems might very soon arise, and a cycle’ll repeat

Its been 7months since my ex broke our 6 year relationship. I did pleading acting needy texting non stop getting hot and cold behaviour finally being blocked. I kept distance amd worked on myself but still i feel i want to get back with him. If I initiated the breakup in order to work on myself but he didn’t understand and told me that if l came back, he wouldn’t want to be in a relationship with me again. Absolutely. Us as men can block the pain out by dating. It's not really healthy if your heart is somewhere else, but it feels good being in a woman's company especially after being rejected by someone you love.

found out my ex jumped back on tinder barely a month after our breakup. stupid as i am i reached out and told her that she is single and can do whatever she wants but it still really hurt me and that i deleted a picture on fb because of that, though i regret deleting it - which i also told her. she didnt respond. been in nc since then, exactly 1 month ago. about a week ago i got back on tinder myself - not to check on her but i still stumbled accross her profile. apparently she hid/deleted/whatver'd her profile after seeing me on there. i realized im not ready to start dating again so i got off tinder again.
Feels like i handled the whole situation so poorly, from reaching out right after the breakup up to that last message and that i really decreased my chances of getting back together with her and pushed her away from me even further.
Overall we had a really good, about 2.5 years long relationship, been each others first "real" partner and never had serious arguments or anything like that.
I just wish i hadn't let my emotions get the best of me and make me contact her so many times before finally stepping back 1 month ago.

I'm super late to respond to this, but I WISH I saw this before my ex entered a rebound. I texted her and told her that I found out from a friend and that I didn't want to know. I texted her to never speak to me again... I regret that SO SO much to this day. It's been months since that happened, but I'm sure I ruined that chance for good lol.
Don't beat yourself up. I did the exact same thing. But try to understand this, if your ex is a decent person and they care about you, they will understand that you're hurt and not acting yourself. Just move on and start today brand new, what has happened has happened. Your focus should be on yourself completely. You got this bud!!!!

We all react. If that person really love you, that person will reach out eventually, or you give it a while (4-5 months) and reach out again. Nothing crazy. An email, or text perhaps for new years and wishing the whole family well instead of just that person.
Hello guys, i need some advice. My ex and I broke up a few months ago and we were together for 2.5 years. And she recently got into a new relationship about a month after we broke up. And after we caught up she told me how she felt that she may have rushed things with him and that he isn't the most attractive. I am guy who works out constantly and is working to become a doctor, while this new guy is a bit of a bum and isn't the most attractive. So I am convinced that this is a rebound that she is in, and my ex has also told me how she kept a lot of the gifts I gave her and even kept some intimate pictures of us. She even said that her friends thought that this was a rebound but her and this guy are trying to prove them wrong. So that makes me feel that it is not a real relationship and more of a stubborn choice she made.
And then we ended up hanging out and grabbing lunch and it all felt great, just like the old times. And she gave me weird mixed signals like, "getting very close to me", saying "I actually forgot we broke up" and we ended up having sex. So I am super confused as to what she wants, because it seems her and this guy are moving super fast. Like they have been together for like a month-ish, he already mentioned about moving in together. So my friends told me to just stop talking to her, but I am very as to what she wants. I feel that it is very weird for her to say all these things to me, and try to hold my hand and run her hand thru my hair WHEN she was the one that broke up with me. I know she doesn't have the best relationship with her dad but I don't know if this is a common thing some girls do

In my opinion the best you can do is remove yourself from the picture, her relationship with this dude seems doomed to fail, she had sex with you, has gifts you gave her, kept the pictures, etc... She clearly thinks of you and seems really confused with what she wants and that is increadibly unfair with you, you deserve someone who knows exactly what they want, and that is to be with you.
In your shoes I wouldn't reach out in any way to her, be polite when she reaches out and let her miss you, but keep moving foward with your life. When her relationship crashes and burns (which is very likely from what you posted) she will probably reach out to you. I hope everything turns out the best way possible for you.
