Just got a new MacBook for out of the studio work. I usually run cubase at home on my desktop but have decided to exclusively work with LPX on the go due to its stellar optimizations with Mac OS. This video was super refreshing since its been about 2 years since I've used LPX. Thanks so much!
I’m a life long Pro Tools user. After updating my computer to a maxed out M1 Max 16” and continuing to get errors I started putting more effort into Logic. Until now I’ve only used it for our live performance tracks and recording. This video blew my mind!!! I don’t know how to do 70% of this in pro tools. Thank you for sharing your knowledge
#30 you can also make subfolders. Type in the same name of the main category, type a colon ":", and type in a subfolder name. For example, "Dynamics:Compressor:VCA".
Truly a great video! I've been a logic user for year, and most tip videos go over things I already know. So far this has been almost ALL new tips for me.... It's exciting! I'm going to have to come back and finish watching another day.
When I saw the length of this video I thought 'there's no way I'll ever watch this' . Now I'm half way through and have it saved. Will come back to it many times I'm sure. Great video. Thanks
bro this is the best video I've EVER seen on tips for logic pro x. Specially advanced tips. Actually amazing, some of them I already used, but many left me like "wtf, you can do this in logic??" great for improving workflow speed, knowledge and ultimately, the music itself. would be hyped to see another one of these in the future 👌💎
Shane your red progress bar at screen bottom has been chopped and named with Tips Titles and Starting Times. BRILLIANT DUDE! I only wish other educators would do it.
Amazing video. Watched it one time just to breath it in and will have to watch it another time while having Logic open. Thanks for all the good information.
The fact that he's so considerate of saying alt or option (For Mac or Windows Users) when referring to command shortcuts restores my faith in humanity. That is true empathy right there son.
That trick about changing velocity of all the notes to be the same works with the same key commands on the global velocity slide on the left side of the piano roll window
This is the first Logic features video that has shown me something new in a long time. It showed me quite a few new things actually. Thanks for that. Your desktop gave me a bit of anxiety though.
Press F for all the time wasted opening unnecessary Finder windows when there's been a keyboard shortcut to browse samples this whole time (53:42). This was a super informative video, I learned a lot. Thank you for putting this together.
Randomly ran across this video. I've been using Logic Pro on and off for a few years. I was familiar with most of these but the Marquee & Fade Click Zones are absolutely game changing for my workflow. Thanks man!
I wasn't aware of the the chase MIDI feature! I'm making a lot of ambient/drone music and individual chords sometimes last very long so I'm wasting a lot of time just rewinding back to the beginning and sometimes that solution might not even work, given that some songs have interweaving rhythms where there is no clear loop with a beginning to rewind to.
I am just getting back into Logic after several years away. This video is a very helpful resource, especially learning that it now doesnthings that Ableton and Reaper have done for awhile. Thanks soooo much!
Very much appreciate your extraordinary Tips - Logic needs hundreds of hours to really get into every feature... Really thank you... My great handicap is setting every knob and fader in an external MIDI controller (Evolution UC-33 in my case) to program different track automation parameters (modulation & so on)
Amazing big thanks! What is this instrument at 16:37 ? Serum as I see but what preset? Factory? Does it have some special effect to sound like this old tape?
Shane is the king of Logic. I’ll be coming back to watch this video a few times to make sure it all sinks in. How does ESW not have 2 millions subs?? The best out there.
I’ve only watched 5 minutes and I’m smiling like an idiot, cause finally I have this amazing tools, that I thought there weren’t. THANK YOU for spread your knowledge!!!
I take a Photo of my Yamaha Active Bass Settings... And paste them on the track notepad..... If I go off for other music and come back, The settings of the bass are there to do an old skool recall. Damn its handy.
@@4444-s3x Thanks! I've tried that method before but it's just a mess when it comes to my workflow. Apple should just straight up copy the way Image Line is implementing ghost notes with scales etc.
Can’t edit the mixer.. VCA’s don’t love faders??? Can’t drag copy sends Coloured channel strips Make channels inactive & hide them Pro Tools has had these for years...
the sheer amount of times i yelled "broooooo" after finding the answer to a problem i didnt even know had a solution is ridiculous. THANK YOU for making thing this!!
42:40 Shane, I think you might not know this one. Holding control and option changes your tool into the automation curve tool when in automation view. :D
there is also a tool for slipping audio. its in the tool menu I hav ebben using Logic since Version 2... there are things in here I had no idea of.. This is the best tips video. I have watched many.. this has some real gold.. & also why are some of these no on by default!!?
You can also stretch the selected midi notes in the piano roll using time handles from functions sub menu or press ''Control t'' and set the range.as you like
Man.... this is SUPER AWESOME video. Very very helpful. I have been using Logic for a long time but learnt a lot. I also loved that you didn’t waste time in unnecessary talk but went straight into meat of the matter. Kudos man!
Here we answer the age old question. What happens if you reverse the audio of your reversed midi. Killer tips. Love the midi transformer esp for "compressing" midi velociti.
Nice tips. I’d like to add that simply turning off a track power button does not turn off the plugins. If you hold option while clicking the power off it will turn the Plugins off entirely as well as if you do so on a track Stack, it will turn off all plugins in the entire stack.
maybe you can help, when i bounce a midi in place and go to transient edit mode then flex mode like you describe ( 29:28) I'm not getting the flags to then slice, whats causing your flags to come on (LPX 10.5)
Lots of useful tips here! The plugin related key commands and plugin folder customisation ones are going to be particularly useful in my case. I also noticed that once the plug-in selection list is open, you can easily navigate it with the keyboard, e.g. hit 'R' to open the Reverb group, then navigate the list with cursor keys and finally enter/return to load the selected plugin, it makes the plugin selection process much faster. If only there was a key command to open the plug in list on the selected track, then one wouldn't even need to move the mouse to add a new plugin to a track.
This video is literal GOLD for intermediate producers who've hit a plateau in their skill development. thank you so much
by far one of the best "advanced Logic Pro features" videos EVER 🔝
thanks!
34:45 press option while hitting the on/off button to get all the plugins/inst of the track to be truely inactive and not eating up cpu :)
Dang it I just left this same comment 🤣
Amazingly great tutorial! Wow. Been using Logic since 2003 and this video is easily one of the best I've seen so far. Kudos.
Thank you so much Björn!
Thank you soooooo much ! This one has to be millions !!!
You can right click the fades on your audio and speed it up or slow it down..that seems faster than going over to a menu😁
nice one!
This video is just AMAZING! Thanks, bro!
Thank you!
oh my god "which audio developer made my favorite reverb"... that is so true. Great video, learnt a lot!
