That chord trick near the end has been my secret sauce for a long time now! I like to pair it with the Scriptr Harpeggiator preset for dreamy heavenly arp sounds
Mind blown at the Midi FX section. I was in awe watching this the whole time. Apple should seriously hire your or license your videos to show the power of Logic. So many things that seems like you need to buy Plugins for are all built into Logic. Just yesterday, I also discovered how Logic has its own built-in plugin like Alterboy in another video. Every time I watch your videos I learn something new. Again, just mind blown.
Yeah that’s why I always recommend people don’t buy loads of plugins for at least the first 6 months of owning logic (and most other DAWs too to be fair). 90% of 3rd party plugins are shinier, well-marketed versions of things that logic can do already and imho people should spend their money on really good instruments (real or virtual) and hardware. Having said that, obviously there are quite a few notable plugins that either do things that logic can’t, or are just much more powerful - soundtoys in general is one of these I think, funnily enough.
@@Superdelphinus Agreed. I actually just started this new musical journey where I told myself no plugins until I master Logic, music theory and sound design. That’s how I started discovering all these amazing videos and so glad I did. Only plug-in I bought was Serum so far. I’d rather spend money on hardware and quality instrument samples.
That chord x transposer trick is something my brain has been telling me is possible for a long time, but I've never actually thought about how to productively implement it. This is going to be a MASSIVE time-save for me!!
To be honest I think most Logic users don’t know Logic deep enough. That’s one of the things I see over and over again, even when it comes to the stock plugins, samples, loops, etc. It’s really “sad” when I see people buying third party plugins and all that, when I know they haven’t spent not even 5 hours just exploring Logic’s capabilities
Drummer is brilliant too for great basic , seemingly simple beats. Then introducing slight variations across the arrangement.Adjusting the pattern then saving as a new pattern.Works brilliantly for a full track.Without overdoing it.Basic is best.Playing for the SONG.Then have drummer control the sounds from AD2 or other drum software.
I'm really late to this party, but wow! this is helpful. I'm trying to learn to think differently about how to let the tool do a lot of the work for me, and these examples are eye opening. Thank you!
Any idea if this can be done on iPad or we still gotta wait for logic on iPad ,it seems that the loop drummer and reverse tricks can also be done on garage band on iPad but I still need a third party app to sample like you did. Thank you for this vid it really really helps step up my knowledge on this app
im so happy with your videos. something about the way you explain things makes everything sound so fun and makes me want to try out more things with logic. honestly, thank you so much :)
Thanks. That was an action and value packed logic tutorial. Been using Logic for years and picked up more in that 19 minutes than is covered in many slow hours learning some other ways...
17:09 can you get an arpeggiator that goes up the keys then back down and make it as far down you want? Kinda like going up and down the piano really fast? I don’t know if you respond to these but I’d just thought I’d ask anyways.
Chris, thank you so much for enriching everyone's creative life with your excellent tutorials. Seriously educational and inspirational. Your series was definitely key to my decision to make Logic Pro the cornerstone of my production work. Fantastic platform for everything and such a pleasure to have your channel as a resource.
This is excellent. I've been using Logic for about 2 weeks and have got a good feel for it and made some decent tracks. But I was doing A LOT of things manually. This video has shown the great tools that would have helped me 😄 Subbed 👍
In the transpose part you can select the track and press option R up/down arrow to adjust it by increments of 1/-1. Damn never thought of taking an apple loop or sample, deleting the sound, keeping the plug ins just to add my own sample to see what it does, good find!!
Hi, thanks for your videos? I remember in one of your videos you explain how to use effect plugins on a small, desired part of the region without affecting the entire region. I can't find that video, could you direct me where it is, please?
I just discovered this channel, such a great resource. Pls pls pls do a tutorial on Logics midi fx. It’s so hard to find good info on it and I’m sure you know it back to front. 👍🤙
A lot of things that you addressed in this video were sticking points in my workflow that had me getting frustrated and leaving a lot of stuff unfinished. Damn fine arrangement too. Thanks very much, man.
5:00 a little after this point, you start going into dragging, dropping and chopping Apple Loops. I’m on an ooooold version of Logic (10.2.4 or something) and I can’t update due to my Mac being about 15 years old and running an old OS, so I can’t drag and drop. Is there a way to parse out sections of these loops and chop them up, just without the drag and drop function?
Hi Chris, I wish I had found your channel earlier ,-) This would have saved me a lot of money. I had absolutely misjudged LogicPro and now it is my favorite. Thanks for the videos and tips (they helped me a lot with the switch).
Wow Chris - these are all things that I could do on the struggle bus, but now...! This was so helpful. Also - I am excited to look into the midi effects. I have ignored them for far too long.
Man, I missed even the struggle bus for some of these things and was left downtrodden holding my Star Wars lunch box at the bus stop. This video is one of my favorites from this channel so far!
Hey Man, first off I just want to thank you for all your vids...can’t tell you how much they’ve helped me. I see that you run everything to a “submix”, which you add effects too as opposed to placing those effects on the “stereo out”. Is there an advantage to this? Thanks!
Is there a way I can remove the sustain from a piano recording so I can copy the region to a new track without the sustain on? My friend a great pianist played a nice improv. with my 88 note midi controller and I recorded it in a software instrument track. She, of course, was using an external sustain pedal plugged into the M-Audio 88 weighted keys midi controller. I would like to copy the regions midi notes of that track into a new software instrument track without the sustain but when I do the new instrument (Albion One strings) play with the sustain on. Is there a way to remove those mods? thank you again and I really enjoy your videos.
The best resources for Logic are from you. Please keep it up

Wowowow! So great! Track Stack...who knew? And Midi Effects! Why did I practice arpeggios so much?! LOL Thank you so much!
I didn't know about marquee-selection and cmd-r, it's gonna save me so much time when I need to repeat parts over the grid, thanks for these tips!
The marquee tool is very powerful !!
wait what does the tool do??
Man you explain clearly. Thanks for these vids!
That last tip is freaking huge. Glad I watched the entire video

You’re incredible!!!! So professional. It sounds like you’re an official spokesperson for Logic, you present everything so elegantly
One of your best tips collection yet ~ dang! following, step by step, each section, I've learned a TON ~ great stuff, thanks!
Amazing. I feel like I don’t even know Logic anymore (in a good way) - can’t wait to try some of these out. We’ll done.

Awesome awesome awesome. Love the video and I subbed. Thank you
Hi. Do you know how to stop midi notes that stay “on”, even when you stop playing
Chris taught me like half of what I know on Logic Pro x. If it weren’t for him I wouldn’t be a Logic super user like I am.
again, thank you so much for these videos!!!!! you are amazing :)
Great stuff thanks!
is there a quality difference in the sample when you chose to use flex mode polyphonic vs the "option drag"?
It shoud be the same. I think option drag is just a short way to stretch.
@@xav13r thank you !
