Absolutely savage, and absolutely true. I haven't had the desire to watch a GDQ run in a year and a half. This is the true speedrunning event for me now.
@@jkazos Funny how you say that during the run by the dude who runs GDQ. Also I kinda feel bad for you that you force yourself to miss the GDQs.
@jnerdsblog Not sure where you got the impression he's "forcing himself" to miss GDQs since he outright states he has had no desire to watch them. There's plenty of reasons as to why someone may find GDQ unappealing.
...For example, I skip out on AGDQ in particular because it raises money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, which evidence suggests is not a good cancer charity. Among other issues, they only put about 20% of their money towards cancer research despite explicitly mentioning how critical funding cancer research is for cancer prevention on their own site (their other programs take a larger share of money).
@@jnerdsblog While yes, it is ironic that he says this during a run by the guy who runs GDQ, I think most people's beef with GDQ comes from their absurdly draconian rules and trigger happy banlists that ban people for little to no reason or for things that have nothing to do with speedrunning. A number of runners were banned this year (including Trihex, an extremely well known speedrunner who's the model for the Twitch "Try Hard" Emote) due to trolls in their chats baiting them into saying slurs SEVERAL YEARS in the past. One of the most famous and well beloved runs of ALL TIME, the Bonesaw Jak&Daxter run, got the runner banned because he made too many "Wow" jokes.
Hence why Mike, being fully aware of the controversy surrounding his events, says he isn't used to fun because he's from GDQ.

I was just thinking it really is like an Elder Scrolls game! It has a day-night cycle, open world, clunky gameplay, wildly unbalanced, complex mechanics that that they didn't really think through, weird bugs...

A game so good, it needs to carefully and lovingly craft each of its frames over the course of seconds.
All 210 frames of it.
It's the only game I know of that is considered "playable" at 10 seconds per frame.

@@The24thWight Ohhhhhhh, boy. Short version: He's been cheating on his wife with Holly Conrad--she was married to Ross from Game Grumps until recently, and this was probably happening before they divorced--and he was also sending nudes to and soliciting nudes from fans of his who were minors. There was a huge firestorm about this earlier this month, and FUCK was it crazy.

I actually really love this game, I recommend it to people that just want a few hours of laughs and arse-clenching. As a child, it taught me that gameplay means a ton more than graphics.

I don't get the problem with "ration of food".
When using the word "ration" as a noun, it'd be redundant to specify that it's food.
"Ration of Food" sounds stupider than "Food Ration", too. Basically what Puyo Fever did with "Prince of Ocean"
@RobRmanX you can ration anything, like water or fuel.
Because there isn't one, this is a case of someone thinking that an error has been made when one hasn't. 😅

@@ozrithclay6921 isnt this the 3rd? anyways, i also saw AVGNs review and it looks absolutely awful. not due simply to age either... i love and collect retro games and consoles. i appreciate them all. but these hydlide games had to be terrible even back then. well, except virtual hydlide. i had a friend who had that on release for saturn, and the graphics/gameplay blew our fuckn minds.
It would have killed the devs, actually. Be more mindful.
