Fun fact: In the script, Magneto was not supposed to abandon Mystique when she was cured. That was only added in because Rebecca Romjin had some emergency. Originally, Magneto and Mystique had cooked up a contingency plan in case she was cured, which was for her to give false information to the government. The final scene was actually supposed to have both Magneto and Mystique playing chess. This would've made more sense, since Magneto is not supposed to care for mutants only because of their mutation, but because they are his people. And a mutant that is cured against their will is a victim of human oppression.
I never knew that! I still think that with 10 minutes' thought they could have come up with something that didn't betray all the Magneto character work to date, even if it's as naff as "I'm so sorry, my dear; we can't afford for you to slow us down. We will not forget what you have sacrificed." As it stands, this is the point where the movie lost me completely.
@@Zombiesnyder13 He had nothing to do with this. Rebecca simply wasn't available. Same reason why Cyclops was killed off; James Marsden was unavailable.
Kitty was in the first two films. She was seen leaving the room when Logan meets Charles for the first time (1st movie) and escaped Stryker's men during their mansion attack (2nd movie)
The next 2 X-Men are great: First Class and Days Of Future Past. The next one, Apocalypse, is ok. The one after that is not.good, cant even remember the name. Of the 3 "Wolverine" movies, X-Men Origins Wolverine is decent until the final scene which is bad. The next one, Wolverine, is good. The last one, Logan, is the best of all of the X-Men movies, and is a must see before Deadpool And Wolverine. Love your reactions!
That was Dark Phoenix, btw. I personally say watch all of them, in release order. It's the easiest method of watching them for new viewers (that I've seen; others may have better watch orders for those who want to go in blind).
Plausible theory based on the ending and what we know later: the "cure" only suppresses the X gene; it doesn't eliminate it. Makes sense, since Leech only suppresses other mutants' powers by vicinity. Also, we see Eric's (Magneto) powers start slowly coming back in the end scene.
@happyslapsgiving5421 IF she gets her power back. The novelization suggests that the efficiency of the cure depends on the Mutant's power level. If the mutant is omega level or higher, the cure will merely suppress the x-genes for a few days. If lower, then the cure will permanently dissolve the x-genes. Mystique is a low-tier mutant, so she most likely will remain an ordinary human for the rest of her life.
Yeah, the Phoenix force is a cosmic being that chooses a host. There have been a bunch of hosts of the Phoenix force after Jean Grey. I think most recently it was Echo. And now it’s Jean…again. Lol
What wasn’t explained was the guy in the video that Charles was showing his class and teaching them ethics was his twin brother David who was considered brain dead but was still alive. Right before Charles was disintegrated he sent his mind into his brother’s body. This was supposed to be explained in future movies but never was. This happened in the comics and was explained there. It should have been explained in the future movies but never was so people that were not familiar with the comics never knew. This isn’t exactly a spoiler because some people probably didn’t see the end credit scene or knew to watch it back then so this is one of those things that really wasn’t gone in to further.
In the comics The Phoenix was not technically Jean if you read the later X-Factor comics. Jean was replaced by The Phoenix, a cosmic space being, when there was a quinjet crash & she took on Jean's personality so much she forgot she was different. Eventually the power of the Phoenix corrupted her reason & the cosmic being became The Dark Phoenix. (Lots more to that.) In a desperate attempt to protect the universe she destroyed herself. }|{ At the time of the writing of the X-Men comics it was during the ostracization of individuals with African ancestry in America, during the movies released time the ostracized individuals were Gay or Lesbian & the stories were redesigned to reflect the issues they were being attacked with. Which is where the line in X-Men United came from, “Have you tried not being a mutant?” Attempting to address those who are under the impression that you can "pray the gay away". Of course, there is big swaths of data that doesn't fit in a brief comment.
You definitely gotta watch the rest of the X-Men movies and X-Men 97 series is without a doubt a must watch if you seen the original 90's series or not Although maybe watching key episodes or a recap of the original series would be a good idea...
Hey, Emme! I have a couple of Star Wars video suggestions You may like: 1.) "Morgan Elsbeth (Nightsisters) Tribute" by a Channel called: "King lord". 2.) "Thrawn: The COMPLETE Life story (Canon) Part 1" by the Channel: "MetaNerdz Lore".
Well, Phoenix is powers are supposed to include cosmic fire generation or something, but this is what I found on google that is probably what she was doing to most people in this film. “total telekinetic control of matter at the molecular level, allowing her to manipulate atomic structures on a universal scale.”
I only know Phoniex is a whole cosmic space thing they explain it in the 90's animated series better, I know the Dark Phoniex movie tried to correct that but I hated that movie
The end credits scene was foreshadowed - albeit very, very clumsily - by Xavier proposing to his class the ethical question of transplanting a mans consciousness, via brain transplant or possibly psychic mutant ability, into a person in an incurable vegetative state, like the one in the video. A deleted scene revealed that man was actually Xavier's identical twin brother, who was born comatose. Yeah, it's contrived however you slice it, but it makes more sense once you know at least!
They really did Rogue dirty, in all of these movies. If you want a good Rogue, you should watch at least the newer animated show X-Men 97’. And then obviously the original show from the 90s.
Rogue is so badass in the cartoon and her origina story is so complex and good, in the films she's jsut a teenager who wants to tocuh her bf she has no substance to her character. Rogue and Gambit forever XD
@ they codecs had a rogue do more besides complain about wanting to touch her BF like Rogue is tough and has more to her character they didn’t even involve her in the mission plans she jsut did class then left
I think you should react to all the fox X-Men movies including the Wolverine movies and Deadpool movies. You can Google the watch order if it’s confusing. Then end with Deadpool and Wolverine, it is more enjoyable with the context and references of the previous movies. Most are good or amazing, some are fun bad, and some are just plain bad. But they all should make for good reactions.
You like Magneto so much it's awesome, if you keep watching the X-Men movies and get to Michael Fassbenders Magneto I think you'll like him even more.. The First Class trilogy is so good, idc what anyone says, they're even better than this original trilogy, and make this trilogy even better..
Charles transferred his consciousness into a brain dead person, which he spoke to his students about. The person happened to be Charles's twin brother.
I love the respect Charles and Magneto have for each other and while I find this movie fun its just weird how they did the Phoniex storyline cause they made Jean a non character she didn't have any dialogue the rest of the film really and if you ever do watch the X men animated series the Phoniex stuff has sooo much more that this movie cut out its crazy. The politics X men brings to marvel I enjoy its always a back and forth argument especially with Magneto and Xavier there both the extreme's of what they want which is the same goal lol. And they did Rogue dirty in this trilogy imo she has no substance other than wanting to touch her bf least in the animated series she has a cool origin story and a complex story all together and there's more to her character and everyone in the X men
You will hear a lot of mixed reviews for the Xmen franchise because there’s so many terrible and great movies within it and the quality can go back and forth a lot. Here’s the movie order along with their general audience consensus: Xmen- Very much liked Xmen 2- Loved Xmen 3 Last Stand- Universally hated Xmen Origins Wolverine- Universally hated Xmen First Class- Very much liked The Wolverine- Liked overall, a few mixed opinions Xmen Days of Future Past- Liked Xmen Apocalypse- Very mixed views. Overall “meh” Logan- Universally adored Dark Phoenix- Universally hated New Mutants- Universally hated I suppose there’s also the Deadpool trilogy which isn’t necessary to the “Xmen” plot as it does its own thing.
Watching any of the others just takes a bit of letting the canon of this trilogy go. They can be fun and some are straight up great, but don’t expect them to make a ton of sense if you think they will line up perfectly with these. They’re sort of their own thing…kinda lol
Hello Emme!😊 The next three films involving the prequel cast are all worth watching. I am not a big fan of the two stand alone Wolverine films that were released during the X-Men days. The stories are just not that good. The last two X-Men films are the poorest IMO. "Dark Phoenix" (2019) and "The New Mutants" (2020) can be skipped. Phoenix was much better portrayed in this film.😉 However, "Logan" (2017) is excellent. That guy seemed to shoot curly bones out of his arms. Great reactions to this dark X-Men film, Emme!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This movie adapted two comic book arcs, the Dark Phoenix Saga and the mutant cure. It didn't do either of them very well. It's the weakest of the first trilogy. Charles's original team in the comics was Jean, Scott, Bobby, Warren, and Hank.
If you can find the animated movie Hulk Vs Wolverine. That would be great to watch instead of X-Origins Wolverine which is terrible. X-men Days of Future Past was a great movie both cuts, the theatrical cut and the Rogue cut The Wolverine movie is pretty good even though I am mixed on how they did the Sliver Samurai Logan is a great movie
you can just watch x-men first class. the next order is wolverine origin, and it's not the worst movie ever. but you can do without it. so my suggestion is just go the next X-men movie. first class is amazing
The Phoenix is done all wrong. Watch the Third Season of the X-men animated series to see how it should have been done. This movie is trying to do two storylines at the same time the Cure and the Dark Phoenix portion of the Phoenix story. You can’t do both. I think a couple of the mutants in this film are Morlocks. Callisto is their leader. She is the one who fights Storm. The one on the one on the stage looks like the Mutant Slime. The invisible one is supposed to be Psylocke but she doesn’t have invisibility in the comics. She’s a telepath. Who can turn psychic energy into weapons like a psychic knife.
I think that's one of my problem with this film. They tried cramming too many story lines into one. The Dark Phoenix, the Cure and the Morlocks could've all had their own films.
