I mean … the entire TVD cast has lost almost every family member at the point of the series they’re on right now. Matt’s mom tried to r*pe his teen best friend & was a drunk, his sister was high off drugs as an addict & was almost r*ped by that same best friend in season 1 but was instead abused on by Damon same as Caroline & Andie. Idk how much darker in can possibly get. (Spoiler alert) Kai literally kills children, tried to kill child twins & takes his sister spleen out. Matt’s mom is later revealed to have died after a bad fall shortly after leaving Matt which we never saw which makes it even sadder, both his family members went right the hell as revealed in season 8. There’s so much worse things that have happened in tvd, it’s never happy honestly. Just dark the whole way through with literally nobody getting their happy ending except the one that deserved it least … Damon. Smh
The dialogue in this show is next level. TVD does witty and funny well, a lot of which relies on brevity. Originals does dramatic and emotional well. They aren't afraid to take it slow and commit to a moment with dramatic monologues. You can already feel it in this first episode.
Okay but Klaus’ character development is just CHEFS KISS. Didn’t really like him in the beginning but loved him towards the end. Personally he has the best character growth and development out of vampire diaries and the originals.

The only reason any of the mystic gang ever daggered/hurt the originals is purely because of plot armour. the originals were weaker in the vampire diaries cause they were the 'villains' and needed to be defeated.

yessss! I started rewatching the originals earlier this week just so i could re-experience it with y’all lol, can’t wait. especially since the last time I watched it was in 2018 when the show ended, so i literally forgot everything that happens 😭😭
I feel like people brush off Klaus's trauma pretty often. I don't think he is a "good" person but I think it's too simple to say he is a bad guy. He does care about his family and a big part of him clings to the idea of being loved by his family but he has trauma from his childhood mainly his dad which makes him afraid of showing how much he cares, to him it's like showing a weakness.

And Elijah gets daggers yet again, so Daniel Gillies could head back to Toronto and wrap up filming season two of "Saving Hope". Great plot device as well to possibly bring Rebekah to NOLA to save her brother.
My biggest issue with this show and TVD is the cast constantly going on breaks. I know it’s needed but I wish they could film around it and not just not have them. Like if they are going to be gone for 2-3 episodes have episodes they just aren’t in because they are doing blah blah blah. Then we get the episode showing how they got the blah blah blah. It’s better for them to just be offscreen for a bit then daggered dead or otherwise unavailable for life. With Elijah it isn’t that horrible on this show but on TVD it was ridiculous. And Rebekah on this show is even worse about that! It hurt the show for me a bit. But the finale is probably the best finale for either show! But if you ask me on another day I might say the season 6 finale of TVD is my favorite. And then maybe on a more love sappy day I might say the series finale of TVD. Spoiler talkish I was sad with how the show ended. And then with Legacies I was angry. Why did I spend like 11 years watching this world to end up back in high school 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️☹️👍🏾😂😜

Davina definitely not his love interest. I know there's a weird thing around ages with vampires & their teen love interests since Stefan for example is forever 17 but actually from the civil war. They definitely pitch it differently with these Marcel and Davina. On an unrelated note The Originals seems like the more grown up of the two shows in tone kind of the way Angel seemed more mature than Buffy (the shows not the characters). You'll meet lots of great new characters and a few you'll love to hate.
To me, Marcel feels less like the first bad guy and more like baby-Klaus. By the sounds of it, Marcel learned all he knows from Klaus, but the old Klaus before any journies of self reflection in TVD, so I think Marcel needs time to also grow and heal. Or maybe I'm totally off, and he's a generic bad guy. lol
Thia might be a hot take but i always hated how powerful they made the originals. Theyre literally unkillable. I think they should have kept them at the same level as to when they were first introduced. Good writers should be able to write powerful characters without making them op. With how powerful they are, no one is actually a threat except for when you bring witches into it.
they were more OP when they were first introduced. There was no weapon to kill them, only a witch who could channel 100 dead witches, an opportunity that doesn’t come around often. TVD S3 nerfed them so that they were killable & there were other methods to subdue them.

If it wasn't for them only being killable by the white oak stake, he literally just would have been done for. Now, in the originals, that never would have happened. Spoilers Compare it to when Elijah went against Marvel's army. Early Elijah absolutely would have been taken down by the army.
