I am an American. I realize your video is geared for a British audience. However, "most" of your advice is applicable to us as well. I live near Washington, DC - about 800 miles from Orlando. Americans may have a shorter distance to travel - but once we get there we have the same issues to deal with as the Brits do. Where do I stay? Where do I eat? Should I rent a car? What does it all cost, etc. You've clearly put a lot of thought into this. It really shows. Thank you for your advice !!!
The disney vacation club is great because my aunt is a member and the resort rooms are massive. There is a kitchen a living room two bedrooms and two bathrooms. If you have a tight budget i do not suggest joining, but if you do there are some great benefits.
Honestly, the best age to take a child is 7-9, unless your child is abnormally short. At this age they can still enjoy the small stuff without feeling embarrassed, (tho I'm 15, have been dozens of times, and still freak out over meeting characters) theyre old enough to remember it, and they ought to be tall enough to enjoy most of or all the rides!
I am going to Disney World for the first time coming up in December. So Excited! I am only staying on property the first 2 days(POP Century) My parents are a member of a travel club and can get condos way cheaper then Disney's value resorts, (7 days in a condo for less then $300 total, heck yeah!).
Another thing to keep in mind when considering the cost of staying on Disney property versus off-site: not only will you have the cost of car rental and insurance (if you're renting), and gas, you have to pay for parking. The cost for parking has gone up to $17 per day. Ten days = $170. If you stay on the grounds you simply take the buses and don't have to pay parking.
Also, you forgot to mention. When you're planning what time of year to go, watch the temperature. Sometimes it can be in the mid 60F, sometimes it can be in the high 90F. If you can't tolerate "extreme" heat or cold, make sure to check the forecast for the time of year you're wanting to go
Hi Charlotte! We went to Disney last may and stayed on Disney property. We found it really easy to get to other place - Universal and discovery cove. We phones reception and they put us through to Mears transportation. They just ask what time you want to leave in the morning and then there is a coach waiting at that time. It was 20 dollar return each pp and they pick you up whenever too! :) X
staying on site is so so much better! i've stayed on so many off site hotels but non of them compare yes disney is a bit more but as you said its so worth it simply for the location and benefits you get such as the dining plan. always hire a car they're not that much you can get one for 2 weeks for £200 with insurance, it just gives you more freedom than waiting for a bus
There is a lynx bus you can get from magic kingdom and downtown disney (west side) number 50 which takes you to sea world, international drive and you can change over buses from there to get to universal and the malls! Really easy x
I love your vlog......very informative. I know that you said transportation off WDW property is almost impossible, but if you call Mear Transportation you can get to & from Universal for about $20 return trip. You will be picked up and dropped off at your hotel. You can also take public transportation from Downtown Disney. It's cheap and the bus service is excellent
The dining plan isn't thrown in unless you book your trip when there's a special offer going on. No matter where you stay, if you want the dining plan its extra. The moderate and deluxe resorts to have formal dining as opposed to the food courts however.
I'm also a Disney addict, going back in May and staying on site at OKW for the first time! I usually do idrive but after going with someone who drives i could never do idrive without a car again, so DISNEY it is this time! Can't wait! I believe theres a mears group shuttle/bus thing that you can book the night before to get from resorts to Universal but I'm not 100% sure, something i need to find out myself as we don't have a car! Eeee this video got me SO excited for my next trip! I'll now spend the next few hours on TheDibb :P xx
It's true leaving Disney is really hard. How ever, rumor has it that you can get on a Disney bus to down town Disney, then there is an I ride trolley stop somewhere there (not for sure where with all the construction) you can then take the trolley to sea world, aquatica, and the double tree right across from universal.
I love your Disney videos you're always very thorough. Thank you so much for sharing what you know. My husband and I will be visiting for the first time this September, so your advice will come in handy.
Wow, so much good information. I live in Orlando and go to Disney World often so I haven't tried the Dining Plan. This was the most I've heard about it. I'm sure your tips have helped many vacationers have a more magical trip :)
This was a great video :) I'm planning on going to Disney World next year and this has helped out A LOT! I wanted to go in May but I didn't even think about checking school schedules. And I was planning on staying off Disney since it's cheaper but I may just have to stay at one of their resorts since from what you've explained it's so much more magical, and I didn't even know about the meal plan things. Thanks so much for uploading this, I'll have to watch the second video sometime.
Such a great video. I am heading to Walt Disney World in August and we got the free quick serve dining plan when we booked, we then upgraded to the dining plan so we get a quick serve and table serve meal and a snack a day and we only paid about £300 for it. Cannot believe how much money we will save, considering table service meals can be about $100 between two of you depending on where you go!
It sounds like you are going to Disney on a regular basis. You should really look into Disney Vacation Club. You can buy directly from the Mouse or you can go on some sites and buy some time shares that people are trying to sell for a lot less. We bought into Kidani Village and for your 1 time fee and annual dues (about 650 US per year) it works out that you get the price of the value resorts and can stay in the Deluxe Villas. If you are going to Disney every year DVC is a better deal than paying separately for the resort each time unless you always stay at the value resorts.
Thanks for the tips!! We're looking at a rental for Beach club for next time for a one bed villa. We love the dining plan though and if Disney/Virgin throw this in it makes their offer very hard to beat! Guess we'll have to wait and see xx
One thing I didn't like when I stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge was that if you wanted to eat in one of the hotel restaurants(not just the one I stayed in) then you was unable to get a table until saft times like half 9/10 at night, unless you booked ages in advance, I think this would be a good thing to mention in a tip video :) love your videos and Disney though, I could talk about Florida all day aha xxx
There is the Orlando bus system that is incredibly efficient. It's called the Lynx, it'll pick you up from Downtown Disney West Side and I'm pretty sure with just the one bus you can get to Universal
They've made it much more difficult to get to Universal from Downtown. And it takes FOREVER. Even catching the first bus you're going to miss the quiet morning period, which is when you can get the most done. When we go, we just book the Mears coaches. Direct from our hotel to Universal, picking up and returning us whenever we want. $20 return per person. I think it's worth it for the extra time you get at the Universal Parks.
The Lynx system takes a VERY long time to get to Universal. When I had gone 4 years ago, we had to get on multiple buses and it took us about 3-4 hours just to get to Universal.
My thoughts. Worth it to stay at Disney? Great....but probably not if you know what your doing in the first place and also do the math/research (who's staying in the hotel most the time other than rest/sleep?). Especially true if family exceeds 4 which eliminates you from the value resorts. And the dining plan/waiting etc. Plan: Snacks/compact meals and one meal on-site. OK, guess money/time isn't really an issue here .
I agree. There are limitations due to time/money. I've been under those limitations before and i think your ideas are great :) I would disagree about the hotel bit though. I like to spend a bit of time around the hotel, using the pool etc. i guess it just depends what you want from the hotel! x
Lilmisschickas Absolutely. To each their own. I had all intentions on staying on site this year at first. And now, definitely not another ticket price increase this week (like 11 bucks up in 8 months--for single day) for all those new rides/shows they offer (lol). The hotel looks, sounds and would be great. I'd/we love it.... if that would be the focus of a trip there. But for the money and time, a hotel with a pool no matter how beautiful and unique it's still just a pool which we can get somewhere else. Can't justify the xtra 500+, compared to 3-4 Stars hotels just outside of the gate, for four days/family of five even with specials during the year(25% off). That would pay for 3 character dinners (lol). Everyone must choose their venue to have a great time...having money or not. I'm thinking many are needing xtra money for their new or old health insurance here in the US since most have gone up. Priorities differ.
I would love a version on Universal. If there is boats used for transportation, how are the Sharks and gators kept away.? I would like to swim to the parks but I've heard its too dangerous??.
Hey Charlotte! I was wondering, on the quick serve dinning plan, which food are classified as snacks? How do I know? Are the mickey ears considered a snack? Thanks for your videos! They're so helpful!
The first time I went to Disney I was 16 and I was flipping shit when I found out I could meet Elsa and Anna. I was so excited it was the best week of my life by far.
i was 1 and a half when i first went because my mum doesnt like roller coasters she always stayed with me on the smaller rides and going at this age set me off on a life of disney as im 17 and going in summer and have been 5 times. we normally go in a disney hotel for a week and a villa for 2 weeks and then you get both types.
Hey :) love your videos- I was wondering if you could do a video on how to book a disneyworld holiday for people from the uk specifically or maybe just people that arnt from America. How the booking process is different and things that are different when you get there eg when do you get magic bands, magical express, finding the best deals eg dining plan included etc- as most of the videos I have seen are from American people traveling within America and it all seems so overwhelming and I think there are a few differences with the Disney process! Lol I know I would definitely find a video on it very helpful! X
You're making me miss it so much! I went in October 2009 and and all the halloween decorations up! :) I'm itching to plan my next trip! When you said you stayed in the Disney resort, did you mean the themed hotels? Because they're my favourite! :)
i would have to agree with you on the age thing. either really young while they are free with family member that can watch while you ride big rides and put them on baby rides and then height wise for other ages b/c i was 4 when i first went and 2 memories i have... being dragged away from space mountain b/c i wanted to ride and riding dumbo.
I live in Florida and you can take the Orlando bus system I'm pretty sure to universal. I see their busses around at Disney (especially downtown Disney) their system is called lynx
I love your video, it's very helpful for us! We're going on our first trip ever on disney during the christmas holidays this year! I know about the big crowds but do you think we should watch out fot the crowd calendar? It says crowd level 1 - 3 on Christmas Eve for MK! I can't believe that xD
You say you recommend renting a car at disney....do you know how the parking is at the hotels? Is it busy or are there quite a few stalls? I'm going in 12 days and I'm renting a vehicle but I'm scared it might be overloaded with vehicles.
There was SOOOOOOOO much parking at Port Orleans. I never struggled to find a space. There are usually a number of different car parks so you should be fine xx
id like your opinion, would you say £1400 is cheap or dear for a hotel on international drive flights airport transport and all theme park tickets disney universal seaworld busch gardens etc... per person.
how's the Disney pop century hotel or the all star. which one do you recommend for not so expensive Disney hotels? I really want to stay one day at the Fort Wilderness! do you know about that one?
The only thing I HATE about Disney is that when you're a Annual or Premium Pass Holder, you have to pay for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas. You spend a lot of money for the passes and Disney makes you pay for the most amazing things they have.
We were in Orlando in October and stayed on international drive. Honestly didn't need a car for any reason. Hotel laid on shuttles at 8 and 10am And they returned from the parks at 7,9 and 11pm. Free Disney transport from there. Why would u need a car?
Personally I like the freedom of a car. I like to leave parks at 3pm some days or get in for midday. It's personal preference. Also I hate getting Disney transport during extra magic hours as its always busy. So for me, I like to have a car!
When is the best time to go to disney and universal , im planning on going the end of February for two weeks, my family and I are renting a villa which I think it's great because you get your own pool with a spa, we went in 2012 and rented a villa also the only downside of renting a villa is that you have to drive to the parks a pay a parking fee, but either than that we had a great time even though the parks were packed, we went on the first week of April for two weeks also and it was very hot so I want to go when it's not to hot or crowded,so if you have any idea when it's the best time to go please let me know
What's the Parks like in May? I've been in both October and June, I was wondering if it is as busy as the June times. We're leaving May the 9th and we are there for two weeks.
I'm also going in May! Everything I've read says that the beginning of May is a great time to go and that crowds are low. Check out wdwprepschool.com, they have an article that is all about May at Disney World. :)
I am taking my little sister in June and using the quick serve dining plan but worried about it only being the 2 meals a day like you said you usually have 3! is it going to cost me a bomb paying for those 1 extra meals a day?
Charlotte | Lilmisschickas ♡ Thanks, I have booked the Sci-Fi diner,Beaches & Cream shop (thanks to your tips) and the T-Rex restaurant, I can not wait :)
I'm going to be at Disney during october 17 through the 19 and will anyone tell me if it will be busy because I hate crowds and I'm very claustrophobic
It depends on what day you want to go on. Avoid Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Tuesday and Thursday are the best days to go. I don't know why so many people want to go on Saturdays, I mean the parks are so crowded you can't enjoy anything. Even if it is a weekend, there's no point in going if you can only get to do two or three things.
NoMatterWhatAG For a Disney experience, The Magic Kingdom is the park to go to. Everything else seems sub themed and have very little Disney characters to see and meet.
Aslong as you don't go on school breaks, I recommend you to check when the children from the US and UK go on holiday so you can plan your holiday around when kids are on there breaks; and also when children aren't on there break it's usually much cheaper to book holidays. I hope this helped.
Hi ! Enjoy the vid , please slow down a bit when talking I know it's exciting when talking about Disney . U forgot to mention about the Tips !!! Everywhere at disney x

Me too
Me too 😊
I have been 5 times, thats 6 years not going there in my life.
I don't like it in the summer. Way too much people. During school year has alot less people.
Unless you go with your school. More fun.

Hey Charlotte! I was wondering, on the quick serve dinning plan, which food are classified as snacks? How do I know? Are the mickey ears considered a snack? Thanks for your videos! They're so helpful!
I've never been to Disney and been looking into a trip there. Your tips definitely helped!
I'm so glad they helped xx
When me and my brother went when we were little we didn't even care about the characters we just wanted to ride and were still like that
Love this!!! will help so many people going to Disney soon!
The first time I went to Disney I was 16 and I was flipping shit when I found out I could meet Elsa and Anna. I was so excited it was the best week of my life by far.
There is buses system to go to universal but you have to ask for it at the lobby
best time to go is october in my opinion. Still hot and sunny but not crowded and no lines. Also holiday treats come out!
HeyItsLena Ahhh yes. The only thing that puts me off is the earlier closing times xx
Very true! Thanks for replying I watch you all the time!
Agreed, especially if you want to go and see the other parks too, no lines.
I really want to go to Disneyland now!
One quick comment, Disney only offers free dinning at select times of the year, no matter what level of resort you stay in :)
Disney fans! add this video to your favorites! :)
i was 1 and a half when i first went because my mum doesnt like roller coasters she always stayed with me on the smaller rides and going at this age set me off on a life of disney as im 17 and going in summer and have been 5 times. we normally go in a disney hotel for a week and a villa for 2 weeks and then you get both types.
Lucky lady!! xx
I went when I was 5 and my brother was 3 for the first time so we didn't feel bad about not going on the big rides.
if u stay on property u get to have the magic bands which r really cool
I've never been to Disney, but I've always really wanted to go! :)
You're making me miss it so much! I went in October 2009 and and all the halloween decorations up! :)
I'm itching to plan my next trip! When you said you stayed in the Disney resort, did you mean the themed hotels? Because they're my favourite! :)
Yes :) Disney call their hotels 'resorts' as they're meant to be more than just hotels. I've loved the two I've stayed on xx
i would have to agree with you on the age thing. either really young while they are free with family member that can watch while you ride big rides and put them on baby rides and then height wise for other ages b/c i was 4 when i first went and 2 memories i have... being dragged away from space mountain b/c i wanted to ride and riding dumbo.
I live in Florida and you can take the Orlando bus system I'm pretty sure to universal. I see their busses around at Disney (especially downtown Disney) their system is called lynx
If course you'll have to pay for this system. It's nit included
Thanks for the tip :) x
I love your video, it's very helpful for us! We're going on our first trip ever on disney during the christmas holidays this year! I know about the big crowds but do you think we should watch out fot the crowd calendar? It says crowd level 1 - 3 on Christmas Eve for MK! I can't believe that xD
I;d keep an eye on them but remember they're just a general guide. I hope you have an amazing time xx
This was really helpful (: Thanks! I'm going to America for the first time and we are going to Disney World so this really helped! x

We stayed in a villa only 2 miles away from the main gate
Is late November to mid December a good time to visit? Also what clothes should I bring?
how's the Disney pop century hotel or the all star. which one do you recommend for not so expensive Disney hotels? I really want to stay one day at the Fort Wilderness! do you know about that one?
hello is december 2nd to december 8th busy ..... and is the weather hot or cold
Burger and "chips" on a "holiday". Can't get more British then that.
I'm going in April :) thanks for the advice I'm gonna have lots of fun now :)

Your skin looks AMAZING! 😍
Thank you :) xx
The only thing I HATE about Disney is that when you're a Annual or Premium Pass Holder, you have to pay for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas. You spend a lot of money for the passes and Disney makes you pay for the most amazing things they have.
i know. That's why I avoid booking when these events are on, because they shut the other parks earlier too!! x
If you take uber or lyft and you stay at one of the value resorts or any close hotel it's only 6-10 dollars
You can indeed. Uber wasn't operating in Orlando when I did this video 2 years ago
We were in Orlando in October and stayed on international drive. Honestly didn't need a car for any reason. Hotel laid on shuttles at 8 and 10am
And they returned from the parks at 7,9 and 11pm. Free Disney transport from there. Why would u need a car?
Personally I like the freedom of a car. I like to leave parks at 3pm some days or get in for midday. It's personal preference. Also I hate getting Disney transport during extra magic hours as its always busy. So for me, I like to have a car!
hoping that one day we could visit my daughter dream land..
Thanks It really helped your advice was amazing!
When is the best time to go to disney and universal , im planning on going the end of February for two weeks, my family and I are renting a villa which I think it's great because you get your own pool with a spa, we went in 2012 and rented a villa also the only downside of renting a villa is that you have to drive to the parks a pay a parking fee, but either than that we had a great time even though the parks were packed, we went on the first week of April for two weeks also and it was very hot so I want to go when it's not to hot or crowded,so if you have any idea when it's the best time to go please let me know
September is least busiest
You could always park at Downtown Disney then take the busses to the parks. You don't have to pay the parking fee that way.
thank u ladies
Christmas is way too busy! I wouldn't recommend it all, you can barely get around the parks
Very helpful. Thank you xx
Going in February on the week of valentines day
Awww have an amazing time!! xx
From the 7th- 14th ? Cause I'll be there then
But the thing is Disney hotels ain't cheap there about 1,000 to stay at ;-;
I am taking my little sister in June and using the quick serve dining plan but worried about it only being the 2 meals a day like you said you usually have 3! is it going to cost me a bomb paying for those 1 extra meals a day?
RobynLeighMitchell Not if you plan your meals now. Don;t forget you can get some really filling snacks too!! xx
Charlotte | Lilmisschickas ♡ Thanks, I have booked the Sci-Fi diner,Beaches & Cream shop (thanks to your tips) and the T-Rex restaurant, I can not wait :)
Is this Walt disney world?
What about April to go to Disney World? Is that a busy month?
I think it would depend on when easter is. I'd try and avoid that as lots of schools have holidays that coincide xx
Thank you for this video - really helpful :)
AWESOME! thank you so much!
I'm going to be at Disney during october 17 through the 19 and will anyone tell me if it will be busy because I hate crowds and I'm very claustrophobic
As long as it's a weekend, it's always busy.
Is October a good time to go? I'm going from the 26th for two weeks.
October is better because it's not as busy as in the summer and it doesn't rain or it's not far to hot. That's why October is the best time to go!
im going in march. anyone know if its busy?
Tiffany Hillegass I think as long as you're avoiding easter and spring break xx
are u going for a cheer competition?
It depends on what day you want to go on. Avoid Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Tuesday and Thursday are the best days to go. I don't know why so many people want to go on Saturdays, I mean the parks are so crowded you can't enjoy anything. Even if it is a weekend, there's no point in going if you can only get to do two or three things.
Thank you, found this really useful! :)
Thank you Hannah xx
I love Disney =)
Great video!
I'm going to Disney in January. Do you know if it's busy in very early January? :)
It varys because of the fact that kids are out for vacation though it shouldn't be as bad as summer.
Phoenix Pickett Thank you :D Which park would you recommend seeing as we only have one day for disney?
That depends on prefrence completely

For a Disney experience, The Magic Kingdom is the park to go to. Everything else seems sub themed and have very little Disney characters to see and meet.
Bearded Forever Thank you so much! I really appreciate the help. Magic Kingdom sounds amazing.
How is Disneyland during st Patrick's day?
I;m not sure as i've never been! I hear they acknowledge it though! xx
I have that same Winnie the Pooh stuffed animal :)
I'm going in October
+Andy Rader have an awesome time Andy xx
Good video
Thank you :) x
The first time I went to Disney World I was 2.
How is disney world on February?
Aslong as you don't go on school breaks, I recommend you to check when the children from the US and UK go on holiday so you can plan your holiday around when kids are on there breaks; and also when children aren't on there break it's usually much cheaper to book holidays.
I hope this helped.
