I first heard this song when I was a wee lad. Van Morrison kills it here. Along with members of The Band if I'm not mistaken. ROCK ON! Hello? (Hello? Hello? Hello?) Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me Is there anyone home? Come on now I hear you're feeling down Well I can ease your pain Get you on your feet again Relax I'll need some information first Just the basic facts Can you show me where it hurts? There is no pain you are receding A distant ship smoke on the horizon You are only coming through in waves Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying When I was a child I had a fever My hands felt just like two balloons Now I've got that feeling once again I can't explain you would not understand This is not how I am I have become comfortably numb I have become comfortably numb Okay (okay, okay, okay) Just a little pinprick There'll be no more, ah But you may feel a little sick Can you stand up? I do believe it's working, good That'll keep you going through the show Come on it's time to go There is no pain you are receding A distant ship, smoke on the horizon You are only coming through in waves Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse Out of the corner of my eye I turned to look but it was gone I cannot put my finger on it now The child is grown The dream is gone I have become comfortably numb
This had to be an amazing feat to pull off. Just getting all the high class names to contribute their voices and time. From Cindi Lauper, Van Morrison, Snowy White on guitars, (1 ) one of the lead players, Bryan Adams, Tim Curry, Oconner and many others. Dont forget the sound crew for bringing out every solo, every intricut piano pieces, acoustic guitars. All brought out front when they contributed mostly to the song in general. The 3 days it took to film even before they filmed the live version. It took a ton of work and understanding . Not to mention it was an outdoor show, so much harder to get the sounds right. There will never be anothet like it and it is beyond breath taking. I think its better than the album itsself. The only thing i would have liked to see fiferent would be the addition of David Gilmore, but for the most part Snowy had his tone pretty spot on but there is no comparison to his slow melodic lead solos with his virbrato and including his voice which is missed mostly in my total favorite song, Comfortably Numb. Still, I listen to this almostly daily and have for i couldnt tell you how long and everything about it is above standards and absolutly amazing. Rock on!!!! 1:57
I believe this is the best version of this song. It was in the movie the Departed. And Morrison kind of looks like Jack Nicholsons character in the movie. Awesome movie
There are many original versions on here, you can vacate this channel and watch those. I love Van anything he's a part of is always perfect.he adds extra drama his voice is so vibrant
@@peacewillow35 I'm a PF fan, I think I'm okay to watch this entire playlist and leave a comment saying this was bad if one guest sucked at a song if I so choose. Thanks little one.
Late news now...thy stoped playing ...but i tell you back at the day ....this was the band....5 shows i had and still feels like yesterday - Im 64 now ....London 1980 Earls court...I was like 20 years old and in love --And that was the start of all that P. Floyd saga i tell you - ops - Im Swedish and had to pay my way to life and music
ARE YOU KIDDING?!!? We were making fun about Van Morrison RUINING it! I said it's almost like Louis in Taxi, coming in scaring everyone and locking himself in his cage of safety! I know you must be kidding! He didn't even do his homework and know what beat to come in on! LOL! This was funny to watch! It's all in good humor! ;)
@@luccaa7c790 Ofc. Those two are literal perfection for Comfortably Numb. That said, Van makes every song he dares to sing his own and takes them to a unique spot.

When Roger pats the wall, I felt that.
Snowy White - holy moly.... thats how you play Comfortably Numb!
Oooooh my God! That guitars solo makes me crazy!!!
I know a lot of people don't like this version but I really like it. The guitar duel on top of the cardboard wall alone makes this a classic.
Also, it's one of the few performances of this song with an actual orchestra providing the backing instead of tapes.
Not to mention Roger's sublime vocals
Great version. Why someone don't like this?
@@sdr-deluxe2426 Van Morrison.

The voice of Van Morrison was almost as good as the voice of Dave [Gilmoure].

Will you marry me David
Van Morrison is not good to this song 🤢🤢🤢
yes, in general not everybody can be Roger, David, Rick, Nick or Syd 5 legends in just one band
Definitely not, Gilmour fits perfectly to the chorus and Waters fits perfectly to the verses.
