Absolute lifesaver. I had a bonehead moment where I put the slide back on without the barrel or recoil spring (I don't know what I was thinking) and I quickly realized I was in a pickle. The slide wouldn't come off the lower. I googled Glock Gen 5 disassembly and this popped up, and now I know how to take apart the firing pin and safety. Thanks for the help and knowledge! Best videos on Glock cleaning/disassembly. It’s a lot to watch the entire thing, but when you want to do things right, it’s worth the time (for someone who isn’t an expert).
Thank you Lenny! You just saved my life! I did a newbie move and removed the backplate without capturing. All the parts shot out and hit me in the eye. Took 30 mins to find them all and then had to figure how they went back in. Quite a learning experience.
I really appreciate you taking the time to run these tutorials, as I find them extremely helpful. One suggestion though. May I suggest making two videos? One like this one, an extended version where you spend a lot,ore time explaining all the aspects of each piece and part, how they come together, how the parts work, etc. And the other, an edited version for those of us who are actually disassembling and reassembling along with you. I spend a lot of time forward advancing these videos in 10 second incrimenrs, simply because when we're reassembling we're trying to complete the project. The backstory to each part, the new barrels crowning, the cost of each part, etc. All of these stories tend to make the assembling and reassembling process a little more confusing. Not that the back stories aren't interesting, the small changes from generation to generation, the overnight shipping costs on small inexpensive parts that get lost easily and are expensive to have shipped overnight. Just a thought. If you edited each process, the disassembly and reassembly, slowly but steadily, you could condense both processes down into 5 minutes for each, editing down a nearly one hour video into a very helpful and to the point, 10 minute video. Just a thought.
Things were crazy in CA when I got out of the Navy in San Pedro in 1968. Glad to see nothing has changed and next generations of crazies have taken over leadership of the state. The Gen 4 Glock 17 is one of my favorite sidearms used for LEOSA qualification and range fun.

I love the orange follower on my gen 5 G17. And yeah it’s great to see it through the witness hole. My G17 is my everyday concealed carry, despite its length the width makes it easy to tuck it away.
Use tungsten disulfide (Ws2)! Dry powder, slipperiest thing on the planet, sheds carbon, bonds to metal by rubbing it on, doesn't attract dirt, doesn't come off, withstands 100,000 lbs. of force, eliminates wear. I run my guns dry with NO problems or signs of wear. Better than oil (oil attracts dirt) but if you are worried of what I say, Ws2 also blends well with oil and can be used together. I've been using it in my car's engine oil for 12 years and the engine is like brand new (no wear!!). Nasa uses Tungsten disulfide (Ws2) on the Mars rover. Great for guns! I use a short bristle 1/4 in. paint brush and a q tip to rub it on.

I also like to watch video’s from other people and I am amazed on how they break down their Glocks. They don’t use the correct names of the parts. I think Glock quietly resolved the finish issue on the gen5 slide release after a few years of Glockstore selling a boatload of Gen5 slide releases in different colors & a finish that is very durable. Bought several slide lock, slide release, & pin kits from GS.👍
Great informative video, just purchased a new Glock 22 Gen 5, interesting you didn't clean your new guns, the reason I do is they always come over oiled and can be a little dirty from the test shot(s) so I do it for that and also to get familiar with the new gun, like this one, i cannot remove the slide the way you demoed, i follow the same steps except after i pull the two slide locks, i pull the trigger and the slide releases, didnt realize the trigger needed to be pulled so that's why i couldnt get it to release, the video i watched before i found this channel didnt mention that
I am unable to remove slide on glock 23. Trigger is not stuck. Gunsmith had removed the plate on back pulled the striker out. He said he had to 'reposition' the recoil spring/slide rod. I guess he had to use a long, slender tool to do so. Anyway, he was able to release the slide and even did a couple times. When I arrived home I was unable to remove the slide - I have disassembled and clean this gun MANY times. I am unsure how this recoil spring gets out of position.

Can someone help me? I’m not great with re assembly. I just bought a new Suarez slide for my Glock 17 gen 5 And I needed to transfer all of the firing mechanisms from the original slide. I was struggling for almost two hours but I finally got everything on. However as soon as I got the back plate on (which was a struggle didn’t have the best tools) the safety plunger fell out. I have it. But I’m frustrated. Am I making a rookie mistake? Do I put the extractor in first THEN the plunger? And does the plunger go in sideways? Im sorry im New at this and forgive my rookie questions.
Is it possible to put the firing pin safety in the wrong way. Or do the cutouts on it mean it can only go in one way? The design is different from the gen 3 I noticed. I transferred my internals to another slide and now I’m paranoid I didn’t install it properly. It does pass function check though and blocks the firing pin so I guess all G?
Does anyone notice that the firing pin floats around when you pull the trigger or when the slide is in the locked position? Is it because of the new plunger design? My gen 3 30 SF doesn't do that.
The reason they recomend cleaning before shooting is 1 lets you inspect it and two because that grease they use can cause build up it collects alot of powder and can gum up
27:12 This is a mistake - extractor does NOT skip case rim in a standard loading cycle. Case slides up the breech face right under the extractor hook. But extractor has indeed small motion while this happens.
So no oil on the fire pin or plunger but what about graphite powder would that hurt or even make a difference for that matter I use to use graphite allot for lube in my weapons that wouldn't build up with sand as bad and jam when you had her wrapped up but never applied it to the fire pins in a glock just was curious
Fantastic video! Very helpful and greatly appreciated Lenny... thanks! Looks like there are different versions of the Gen 5 17? Just picked mine up and it looks slightly different than the one in the video. It has grip hash marks on both ends of the upper assembly and the grip is missing the half moon indent on the trigger side.
You didn’t talk about the new lower and how it takes a spring like the PF 940 CL I would like a more in-depth video on that because I heard the springs are the same one for the levers for the ambidextrous please help
Now is the safety plunger looking like that the reason why when the slide is cocked back the firing pin moving? I also have a gen4 g26 and it does not do this but my g19 gen5 mos does is this normal?

Hello Sir, I just bought a second hand Glock 19 gen 3. When I pull the trigger back and push the gun forward and backwards, I am not hearing the tink of the firing pin or rattling noise. However multiple times I have cleaned the gun by myself and I am sure inside the slid is free of oil, however when I purchased, it was oiled and dirty. Is it necessary to hear the tink or rattle sound for all the Glock pistols when we move or shake the gun forwards and backwards?! In another word, is it mandatory to hear the sound? I mean if we didn't hear the rattling sound from a clean glock, does it means something wrong? If it is necessary, then what is the problem of my Glock? FYI, I didn't test and fired yet, but I checked by putting a pen inside the barrel and pull back the trigger, then the pen moved. I mean it looks the gun functioning well! I have heard, maybe inside the gun has not been cut well while manufacturing but it is fine and not make issue! Is it possible?!
As a brand new shooter this was really helpful. And, of course I just had my first squib after only 35 rounds. I still have to deal with that, but at least I now know how to put the slide back together after the parts went flying!
Is the channel liner different from a g17 and a g22? Or can I disassemble a g22 slide and reassemble it in a stripped g17 slide? I wanna run a custom slide on my g22.
Robert Penn Kansas is also 2nd amendment friendly. You can open carry you don't need a license to conceal and Colleges can't stop you from carrying on campus anymore. Only private businesses can enforce no gun rules. Love Kansas
I need the guts, everything you disassembled and assembled in the slide for my G17 Gen 5 and but have no need for the barrel or guide rod. Apparently I can’t buy it in a kit; I can only buy it piece by piece, but I can’t find it in your web site. If you read this, can you please contact me? Thanks!
That very last part really got me thinking, the firing pin needs to be forward when the slide is put back on the frame? I just bought a gen 5 a few weeks ago and have only field stripped it a few times but I don’t recall having to do that. I know my gen 3 does not require that. Is this new?
I love your videos, however the red follower is to show when the mags OUT, not the round count. The shiny brass casings in each number hole represent the bullet count and are numbered. But i appreciate the reach on the additional changes and why
Lenny can I ask you a important question I have a Glock 19 Gen 5 and wanting to put a Glock Gen 3 or Gen 4 slide on it will it fit if I change the back plate out to a Gen 5?
I noticed the finish isn't the best on the new gen 5"s. I just got my Gen 5 Glock 19 and the finish did start to wear on the front and the slide stop. I got the pistol about two weeks ago. Why has the finish changed? I still will not trade this pistol for any other.

“I like to talk a little bit” 😂😂😂. But very purposeful and informative. Thank you!
Hi Lenny could you explain to everyone what is the difference between the rear plate on the Glock Gen 5 series they look just like my Gen 4 thank you
As a brand new shooter this was really helpful.
I'm sure you're very happy now that you're in Tennessee! :)
Move to Texas and a civilian can buy one. Lol, I love Texas.
Robert Penn Kansas is also 2nd amendment friendly. You can open carry you don't need a license to conceal and Colleges can't stop you from carrying on campus anymore. Only private businesses can enforce no gun rules. Love Kansas
Las Vegas, about 40 miles from Commifornia and we can buy them.
Arizona, constantly ranked as the most gun friendly state.
I have thought about moving there. I want to get out of LV.
What area are you in?
I live in Rio Verde. It is east of Scottsdale, absolutely beautiful and great people. It is an undiscovered and underpriced area in my opinion.
The 26 and 34 Gen 5 are also available now.
I love my Glocks and look forward to buying a Gen5 G26. Great video.
Great explanation Lenny ... as normally you do!
I noticed there is not a barrel cut out on the 34 gen 5. What is the weight difference on the gen4 to gen5 slide? Thanks
Nice video !
Welcome from Austria / Vienna !
Best UA-cam Channel for Glock !
Help. I used the punch to depress the pin as shown, but my back plate will not move. Gen 5 model 19. What am I missing?
Lenny can I ask you a important question I have a Glock 19 Gen 5 and wanting to put a Glock Gen 3 or Gen 4 slide on it will it fit if I change the back plate out to a Gen 5?
I noticed the finish isn't the best on the new gen 5"s. I just got my Gen 5 Glock 19 and the finish did start to wear on the front and the slide stop. I got the pistol about two weeks ago. Why has the finish changed? I still will not trade this pistol for any other.
As always very informative, enjoyable and entertaining. Thank you. Consider moving your whole operation to Florida.
Should we clean the slide from the copper? Or just leave it?
This was the most helpful video thank you Magill
What a great video thank you so much Lenny I learned so much you're the best and the professional Glock rules, sometimes😂
Lenny: Do you take down your Glock 19 Gen 5 to that level for general cleaning post about 250 rounds fired? Gill
Great video! This guy explains perfectly!
is fully synthetic compressor oil safe for polymer?
