4 years later and this video is an EXTREME help. Thank you for the straightforward video, it sped things along in a way that helped me understand so much better
Thanks for the awesome video. Yours is the quickest disassembly video I have ever seen on UTUBE. I have always been hesitant to disassemble the upper. It’s not as complicated as I previously thought. Thanks again and stay safe out there 🙏.
Very quick and detailed. You dont see videos like this very often anymore. Im having exteacting issues on my p80... how likely is the exteactor to be the issue? Im aware of the one part that people often times swap out. Im just wondering if the extractor could possibly be the issue. It just doesnt seem to kick the shells out.
I’ll say this: if you have a optic cut slide, your problem very well might be that the optic cover screw or optic screw on the extractor side is probably too long and interfering with the extractor rod. You’ll know if this is the case by trying to remove the extractor rod and if does not come out freely then there is interference there from the screw. If it comes out freely then of course make sure it is installed in the correct orientation, spring and bearing should be towards the back of the slide and rod should be up front against the actual extractor. If that’s good then the extractor itself could be the issue.
so i just did all this im super confused because were the striker is there is that plastic ring around the end of it but i noticed there is another plastic ring were the striker drops into i cant take it out but when i pressed down on it it just went further in the slide
Yeah, there is a striker that is part of the striker assembly and there is a channel liner that is something that is kind of pressed into the slide to aid in aligning the striker. You can remove it, if you need to use it on a new / replacement slide, with a fine thread bolt that is the right size to thread into it about 2-3 turns and pull it out. Then just press it into the new slide. Hope that helps.
This was just a take down and reassembling but for cleaning I would use a cleaning solvent and soak for a bit then clean it off with a clean cloth or rag. You can use a dental pick or similar tool to scrape off any carbon build up if needed. Then use very light oil like CLP or any gun oil and use a little on the springs. Very little. And oil, not grease. The recoil spring is the only spring I would even consider using a lithium grease on. But I still prefer oil for that as well.
@@yxngfolks223 which spring? I’m guessing the trigger safety plunger spring. I would put the spring on the safety plunger then hold the slide, sights side up, and put plunger and spring in from the bottom up so the spring doesn’t fall. Once it’s in, make sure it is in there and not binding up. Once the extractor is in the plunger will stay in place.
I made this video for a customer that ordered a slide and was scared to disassemble his oem slide to instal the parts I to the new slide. Sorry to disappoint you lol. Maybe you can make a better video and finally upload something to UA-cam after 14 years?
half the video is over before this genius gets the backplate off! then on reassembly, reinstalling the extractor, he says "round part goes to the back" except he shows no round pat and there is no "rtound part on the back of the extractor!

Thank you I just got a new nitride slide and this video made the assembly process so easy
I'll repeat what everybody else has said--super clear and concise instructions. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the instructions! Worked like a charm!
Best video by far, I've seen to remove the slide backplate, so I can insert a custom plate.

@ thank you so much. This definitely helps.
No cleaning oil or anything needed?

Can you do a Glock 19 (preferably gen3) lower frame assembly ?
Coming right up
Thx
Very good should those parts be lubricated before putting them back in to the pistol
On the slide I only lubricate the guide rod/recoil spring and the rails that ride on the frame.
My spring keep falling how do I fix that ?

great vid, thanks
Is this gen3 or the same as the gen3?
This is a gen 3 but they are all the same pretty much.
