Love the bass cleff on fire hoodie
Best funk baseline and solo : Keziah Jones - Where's Life
Man... When you started playing this "fave song of yours" I suddenly remembered a horrible nightmare that I had recently. It was a life and death situation (in my dream) and I had to play the piano and I forgot how to do it. It's a weird dream for me cause I have not played the piano for years.
Man saria song from ocarina of time is the only piano song I can play. Actually its the only song I can play period 🤣🤣🤣
13. The drummer playing when you are trying to tune your instrument.
Every time 🤣
Definitely not me 😳
What is tuning?
Seems you are the one who doesn't own a tuner 😅
That's every drummer ever lol
Years ago I was a bassist in a band where drummer was always soloing and guitarist refused to learn theory and played only riffs in whatever keys. And I played only in C-major. I'm sure we sounded horrible, but we still had fun and that was what mattered.
I first read this as "drummer was always sobbing" and it made me laugh. :)
My collage band was same. Not very good technic. Though, we were having much fun
Ya, being annoying/annoyed doesn't always conflict with having fun.
@Brian Baker Yeah, the guitarist was always riffing and the drummer couldn’t handle it so he always just started sobbing
@@aidanmahoney9865 Bless him. My thoughts and prayers go out to him.
Not gonna lie the conflict between Nothing Else Matters and the Bass solo went so well, clashing made perfectly. Cheers as always Charles
You forgot one Charles: The Guy Who Name Drops Every Well Known Musician With Whom He Has “Jammed” But Can’t Prove It!
Haha so true 🤣
That make me laugh and cringe at the same time. I'm soooo guilty of that! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh, yeah, Steve Vai and Marty Friedman were telling me about that kind of person when we were jamming. Dang, I must have lost the picture of our session. 😉
@@lancerigby3662 I definitely did not also feel that same way when reading this comment😅
I’ve played with somebody like this, lol.
Did I miss any? I'm probably the first guy but sometimes I'm number 5 🤣
Probably... I imagine we all have our days 🙂
i would add: the two members who constantly argue over whether something is or is not jazz
The guitarist that constantly changing his equalizer/effect settings
I'm probably all of that combined Lol!
Lol. I guess I'm number 8, but in my defense, I tune faster and better by ear (that is, when other people will shut the hell up for 5 seconds). Also, I'm really not into the 440Hz standard, but I do get dragged into it at times.
Oh yeah ... here's one you forgot (which is also me): the guy who insists on figuring out every cover song by ear rather than looking up tabs or score for it.
The keyboard effects at 2:24 are a nostalgia overload to being in school music lessons! Every 'composition' would involve putting on one of the drumbeat presets and spamming all the worst effects. Not heard those particular ones in many years.
I immediately thought of the episode of "Friends" where Ross performed on his keyboard. Hands down, some of the funniest scenes of the entire series.
School music lessons, having to learn to play Axel F and the Terminator theme, but ending up with a poor improv of the start of the Jaws theme
heuh * door creak * moo yeah! * bell *
CAAAAAM ON... c'mooaan... C-C-C-CAAAAM ON.
Wesley Willis
Wait, the reharmonization on 2:57 was actually pretty freaking awesome. That one chord just hit right
Ope, we know which one you are hahaha
@@SamsonDerrer oh most definitely the one in the back playing the sweet child o mine lick 🤣 don't have the musical wisdom to reharmonize nor the confidence to do it without knowing nearly any theory
THATS WHAT IM SAYI
It sounded a bit sinister i would say, a little bit close to inception's chord progress
everyhting was literally out of tempo
As someone with perfect pitch... i can say that I am definitely like number 7 😅. Also the piece is in B major 🎉 1:29
I am a mediocre bass player who only plays on Sunday at church and I’ve seen half of these. Great stuff.
Scammer ‼️ alert.
We have an impersonator.
@@SuziQ. - Explain.
@@marlonmontelhiggins8570 ,
It’s gone. I filed a complaint with UA-cam.
Charles has (had?) an impersonator, using his image and his name. That account had left over 230 comments on this video, trying to trick people into thinking that Charles was replying to them.
1:45 "Also, your microwave beeps at a slightly flat G#:"
Comedy gold. Outstanding (and relate-able) video.
Okay, Number 5--the Eye-Contact Guy--hit me kind of hard as I realized I've often done that when playing with others. Guilty as charged. 😄
Me to😂
I can so relate to 2. I played in this international church and we’d play these straight 4/4 rocky songs, but the African drummers would insist on giving it an offbeat, even reggae, feel. Was really annoying at the time because the riffs I prepared would no longer match the new groove of the song, but now I look back and just think it’s really funny 😂 loved those guys, real talents
No one can avoid african syncopation. It'll rule the world.
@@Leonecta While the Borg may have been fictional, resistance to African syncopation IS futile!
This one actually made me lol a bunch of times. Thanks, Charles!
1:24 what a relaxing music, I LOVE IT
he already did a full version of it, it's called highland dream
How do you know if a singer has perfect pitch? Oh, don't worry; they'll tell you... over and over and over...
Can you imagine a singer with perfect pitch who is also a vegan?!?
@@gwts1171 I don't need to imagine one; I've met a couple of them. lol
0:42. The noodle soup folks “quit noodling and listen, ya rude puck!”
1:34 Ironically, he was actually playing that in B major, not Bb major.
I was gonna say that! He must have done it to annoy us lol
Perfect pitch guy is here
The one who cancels practice at the last minute or just doesn't show up
Yep my last f**king drummer. After a few years of that I sent him a insulting drunken text at 2am and he quit the band in a rage and the B grade back up singer he'd brought into the band quit in solidarity. I was so relieved
We had practice?
There's also the One Who Wants to Be Louder.
Charles attempting to inject humor into his remarkable skill is a good thing, for I'm all of those bass players he mentions. Lol
The harmonics on the perfect pitch one are amazing
Yo Charles I’ve been subbed to your for abt 2 years now. Every vid I watch is so funny and relatable
Last band I was in had two guitarists. Therefore, there were always two guitars going - during songs and between songs. My keyboard solos were never without an accompanying guitar solo. No dynamics in that band, the guitarists had no idea how to back off and let anyone else shine for even a few seconds.
As a guitarist I can say that most just don't understand letting songs breath. It's like they're playing the floor is lava, but instead of the floor it's silence.
The eye-contact guy was the funniest 🤣
1:09 this is the most goofiest Charles we will ever see 😂😂
THANK YOU for this. I freaking love when you do comedy skits, Charles. I had a really hard day and this really cheered me up. 🙏
That was brilliant, Charles. Love the use of editing effects.
Love these types of videos! Keep up the great work!
Charles please do a full cover of whatever song you were playing in 7. (the perfect pitch dude), it sounded gorgeous 🙌🤩
Highland Dreams
ua-cam.com/video/-QraB4e7cEw/v-deo.html
It's a piece called Highland Dream by Charles, or known as the Medieval tuning video on this channel. It's a bit older now but still always refreshing to hear it
There is a great jungle/d’n’b artist called Adam F, just thought to say. The song ”Circles” is gorgeous.
The unbroken eye-contact guy lives in my nightmares
I love your combination between comedy and freaking AWESOME bass skills! Your video's are very entertaining! Also, you should do another bass challenge video soon. They're really fun to watch and I would love to compete!
Man! The drummer who likes to change the feel/beat of the song every minute and the guy who never learns the song!
If only I got a dollar for each time I played a gig with those two!
I just realized i'm #5... Nooooooo!
Quit staring at me!!!!! 🤣
@@jasonmartin7137 👀
I can relate to almost all those! The main offenders are guitarists and bassists who noodle while you’re talking the band through a tricky change that needs EVERYONE’S attention.
My dad is a guitarist, and whenever we try to play a song (I play piano/kb), we always end up arguing because he solos on and on and ON. I love my dad tho
2:07
That one is so painful
2:53 Lmao shots fired at Jacob Collier :)
I love your vids keep up the good work
Absolute GOLD. thanks as always Charles!
You forgot the phone scroller guy who constantly needs to be reminded that we're taking the next song now!
I’m so glad that we didn’t have cellphones back then. Our lead singer would have been “that guy” (when he showed up for band practice).
The perfect Pitch Elitist's song sounded so pretty, like a bass counterpart to Rob Scallon's ''Anchor''
lol, that whiplash skit was on point!
I love the knife as a drumstick
You made me laugh out loud! Thanks. Love all your videos.
1:24 I have perfect pitch and this is 100% accurate, I just wish I could play like that
Digging the fire bass clef hoodie
At this point I'd love to have #6, instead I get singers that don't warmup at all and can't sing for more than 1/2 hour
Yes!!
especially when the singer is a smoker xD
THE EYE CONTACT GUY IS MY FAVOURITE! 😭😂
I love the vibes of those guys, haha!
I laughed out loud at many of these, great characters!
Number 7…Highland Dream. One of my all-time favorite songs ever. I love that style. The Fable EP is just incredible. Yeah yeah perfect pitch joke whatever but THAT SONG (and that reference) man, I loved being reminded of it.
More with Bass and guitar, ypu are an incredible player and one of the best musicians in the world
The add was smooth af, damn!
yo that bass line on the 5th musician type is dopeee
Thanks for the video. It was good.
Charles could you do a breakdown of the riff you play at 0:27 - 0:38 and 0:54 - 1:07? That thing is addictive and catchy AF!!
And with eye contact, please! :-D :-D
I was scrolling comments only for this! Yet it sounds like I’ve heard it somewhere
1:01 😂 that was really funny face and type of the player
Great video! 😊
The eye contact guy and warm up singer were the funniest 😂
2:19 This is just a classical pianist dropped into a band. What are all these buttons?😂 We’re just so surprised with every sound that comes out haha
The eye contact one killed me, it's so bloody true ! haha !
Really funny as always. The eye-contact guy really cracked me up.
Absolutely f***ing hilarious! 😂😆🤣 This really hit home. Especially #9 and #10
There's an entire class (no pun intended) of other types in junior high band (/orchestra/choir):
* That one person that always overdresses
* The wind player emptying their instrument way too often
* The person reading a book during tacit parts (and...when they're supposed to be playing, especially entrances...)
* The one who always talks when the director stops the group
* The class clown/goof-off
* The flirt
* The showoff (usually the same one who plays the solos without being asked)
... the list goes on 😫/ 🤣
Of course I've never been any of these types
Goddamn I'm not even mad about this being a vid for an ad.
Flowkey better pay you extra for this masterpiece
0.53
I really think that's a good thing you played there mate🔥I wish you make a full song
Thank you for doing the eye contact guy! I see it from time to time. It always creeps me out. And then after the jam session they're totally normal!!! It's one of life's great mysteries.
I learned about your channel a month ago and bought my first bass after playing guitar for over a decade, your music is fantastic (and love that it's on Spotify) - question, have you turned that "Eye Contact Guy" riff into a full song or full video? I heard it at the end of one of your fretless bass metal videos and it's been in my head ever since!
13. The one that doesn't even appear
Man you are are great. My daughter seeing you playing she wants to learn bass. Thank you. She loves music too much. Keek the good work.
Love these kind of vids. Funny AF but also full of genius plays. For example, I love the elitist guys song.
ahahah an amazing musicians collection :D
You got me with that ad! 😂😂😂
I had a great laugh, thanks :)
You are fantastic. By the way, most of the bassists I had a chance to play with are crazy about fucking around autistically with their basses while the other guys discuss an issue. Just unbelievable.
Hahaha, what makes this video so good is that its spot on.
Great music comedy! Thanks a lot!
love it! so accurate
I still have nightmares of the eye contact guy. *Lord Vinheteiro playing the piano while starting at the camera the entire time intensifies* And strangely that nightmare sometimes involves a rubber chicken that can sing.
This is reminding me so much of twoset’s old skits. I miss them so much 😢
Thank you for the uplifting upload this fine Tuesday morning!
You bastard, you had me watching an ad and I didn’t even realize!
Slipping that lowkey ad in there was a nice touch
For your unmatched skill and dedication to your instrument - you are one funny dude Charles!!! It warms my heart and makes me love you and your music all the more seeing you poke fun at all the seriousness surrounding music - only somebody who is rock solid with themselves can have fun poking fun at themselves essentially- you are a beautiful soul - I thought of you yesterday as I drove by Berthoud Colorado - incredibly beautiful this time of year - appreciation and blessings - I hope you keep having fun like this - it is awesome , thank you again for sharing 🙏🎼👏👏👏👏👏❤️👍💥✌️
Nobody put attention to the beautiful song on the 1:23 ???? I LOVE ITTTT, Hey Charlie, can you make the full version of it???? It's beautiful 😍
Orcarina of time, Classic.
and that whiplash movie was brutal
Some musicians just don't take themselves too seriously. This describes Charles and I commend him for it.
I'm definitely no.9. and have switched sounds on that keyboard too. I recognise those tones, the Yamaha DJX.
Charles you nailed them… sadly ive been a couple of them! 😢
I‘m blanking on No.11 at 2:53 … Could somebody please remind me what the song is called? It‘s driving me nuts
Sweet Child o mine
@@David-pf3he Thank you very much!
Every chamber ensemble rehearsal I have the urge to slip in a riff. That’s only because I had jazz ensemble the day before 😂
2:23 I would bet my bottom dollar that is a yamaha psr-170 with the DJ BUTTON
Dude. All of these hit so hard. XD
First time watching this channel. Dig the green bass strings.
That was one of the best ads I watched in a long time
0:53 is this from a song? Love this bass
Elevated, Charles Berthound
That was great! Im the perfect pitch guy but introverted in my reactions unless im with another person with perfect pitch. It ruins my enjoyment of a lot of music and its not really a choice, however i have practiced for many thousands of hours with tuners so that only reinforced it. 20+ years past that and i can still identify the note but its more like math* because i can always hear a b flat in my head, and figure it out from there whereas before i didnt even have to think about it. -former musician
HAHAHAHA. THANK YOU for the eye-contact guy.
I'm in stitches 🤣
8, 9, and 11 are my favourite. Hilarious!
he really saved the worst for last with the ad read, funny as hell man
