Sweet, Drumeo. Well played, but also well arranged. Love that you intermixed styles, not lumping close cousins all together. Also love that Bluegrass minimalism. Ha! And dude, that Solo. Monster, Brandon.
That was pretty ridiculously amazing. I just wanted to see 101 different styles, wasn't really expecting you to play them all. But that couldn't be easy switching from one to the next even if you had a few lined up here and there. That was impressive.
Slipknot were that in the beginning, but soon evolved to things as groove, alternative, sometimes thrash. I think many people should listen to their albums. There's more than just the hits.
It doesn't mattet what people consider Slipknot to be or not or what Slipknot evolved to or not and whatever. The particular piece Brandon had played is considered representative for Nu Metal and that's it. Nothing more nothing less.
I didn’t expect him to play Songo I believe it was #80. Being Puerto Rican we use that style in our Churches a lot for fast upbeat songs. Awesome job Brother!!!!
OMG Mr Brandon !! It's a true talent to know ALL of these styles, and not easy at all to play them one after another in a very short time. Thank you !!
I wonder if the drum kit will ever be replaced or phased out as a sound in music. It didn't always exist but is now vital in so many styles. Has it's limitations now been reached. I wonder what the next instrument to revolutionise music will be.
This is incredible! Just when I felt I hit a wall in my playing, this has changed my perception entirely. Thank you Brandon! Your content is amazing and a gift to all drummers!!!
Wow man ,i am really impressed on how u nailed all groves . It is so rare to see a non brazilian drummer Playing so Perfectly Rhythms of Brazil and U Did It .
1.) Many of these are styles I’ve never even heard of 2.) Incredibly impressive he was able to shift from one to the next 3.) I’m excited to try some of these new styles out!
That's great. I'm impressed with your memory. Drumeo, have you ever made a video on the half-time shuffle? Or can you give a tip on how to get into it.
That was incredible! So much talent. I’m pretty sure I saw a video where that guy said he was a 2/10 drummer and I’d say he could use some reassessment on that scale!
101 is my favorite,it speaks to me when the screen showed"your own drum style"...on my other yt for my drumming (ScumDrummer Armando "encabronado" Najera) I created my own drum style called the scumbeat.
I love it all Except 2:47 That's not how Johnny Cash's drummer Ever played that song He played a shuffle using both the hi-hat and snare, *except* for the few times that he didn't use a hihat in the early 60's I recommend looking up Johnny Cash's performance of that song in Denmark It's fascinating to actually see what his drummer was doing, it's actually more complex than a lot of people give it credit for
Aphex Twin is IDM. Techno is a bit different from IDM. Xtal was part of his "Selected Ambient Works." Here's Xtal: ua-cam.com/video/Xw5AiRVqfqk/v-deo.html [the first song] Here's modern day techno: ua-cam.com/video/5ZBgx1NeUWg/v-deo.html And older 90's techno: ua-cam.com/video/5huehUqaA0s/v-deo.html
Brandon had made another video with different styles before, and now this one, both very interesting and a lot of work indeed. As drum teacher I think it's very interesting to connect styles to songs that represent these grooves or feels. I do that for myself and for my students. If you guys want suggestions of songs for the Brazilian styles, just get in touch. I sure appreciate Brandon's list of songs and styles. Cheers!!!
As a non-drummer who wants to write great drum parts for my music, I appreciate this!
Sweet, Drumeo. Well played, but also well arranged. Love that you intermixed styles, not lumping close cousins all together. Also love that Bluegrass minimalism. Ha! And dude, that Solo. Monster, Brandon.
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it! :)
the bluegrass part was funny
4:22 disco to doom metal, respect
He's that friend who "listen to anything" except this time, it's true
3:36 DO YOU KNOW THE ENEMY
Green day
Was thinking the exact same thing
yeah or rebel girl
i love green day
I thought i am the resurrection more, know ur enemy is a flam on the snare no high hat
I wasn’t looking at the screen when he played the first one and I thought it was the hub intro
Same
glad to know i’m not the only one who calls it the hub
sounds nothing like it lol
X2 lmao
OMGGGG ME TOO AHAHAHHA
2:39
Rasmus 😏
Ma boi has some good ear I see
smh
Haha

What about country breakcore swing??!
That would break the internet.
Drumeo lmaoooo😂😂😂😂
I know you're joking but this is definitely an igorrr song.
Nailed the brazilian styles bro, nice job
True
I've never thought that I would see maracatu in a DRUMEO video, it's just amazing
Pq caralhos vcs tão falando inglês? São 3 brasileiros
Canal gringo, maior alcance
I think the samba ride pattern sounds more authentic as 123-, instead of 1-34
*I'm a guitarist what am I doing here*
i don't even play keys well enough to be called a pianist
Yoooo same
I’ve been playing bass for a week and I’m still watching
Viendo algo distinto
Getting inspiration, that's what.
4:36 Real legends play Death Metal without using double bass drum
I was waiting for that moment to come
He does use a double kick right?
@@Footballar09 yes, but not for death metal. he uses it for fast rhytmic bass drum, but not for the fast constant ones.
Blast beats are single pedal
Reed Sowell who? if you’re asking about this guy, no he does not, if you’re asking about the drummer of Morbid Angel, yes he does.
44: Neo-soul 03:48,
45: funk 03:55
47 New Orleans funk 04:05
49: GoGo 4:14
68 Dubstep 5:49
69 Trap 5:54
70: hip-hop 6:05
91 Calypso 8:04
95 SKA 8:24
This is so thorough! I can’t even imagine the amount of research and practice that went into this. Amazing job!
Thank you! I hope you check out the book, too :).
That was pretty ridiculously amazing. I just wanted to see 101 different styles, wasn't really expecting you to play them all.
But that couldn't be easy switching from one to the next even if you had a few lined up here and there.
That was impressive.
4:52 All slipknot fans are about to crush this guy
OMFG HE PLAYED THE VERSE?! HE COULD HAVE PLAYED LIKE HERETIC ANTHEM OR SOMETHING!
@BuddhistDrummer I think it's because lots of people don't consider Slipknot to be nu metal
81-90 All Brazilian rhytms! So proud!
Melhor foi o Calypso KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
4:22 -Metal
I Want my like
I've been playing music for 21 years, but what the heck is ECM feel?
ECM record label. A lot of big jazz albums came out on it that all sounded pretty similar, almost like a floaty straight eighth feel
hear Danny Gotlieb drumming on the Pat Metheny Group albums (ECM era) . ECM is a record label.
I didn’t expect him to play Songo I believe it was #80. Being Puerto Rican we use that style in our Churches a lot for fast upbeat songs. Awesome job Brother!!!!
Love that he played start of something beautiful!
Andy Simmons absolutely love porcupine tree!
Glad that I'm not the only one
Thank you so much for including Eluveitie! Alain Ackermann and Merlin Sutter are absolute beasts
sabatonfan1648 - AGREED!
Drum Nerd...
Respect!
101 is awesome!
Viva a bateria brasileira!
From Prog Metal I would have expected a 6:00 by DT...
Right they chose a poor example.
@@joemorford732 not really. DT are a classic, but Meshuggah is the basis for a lot if not most of modern prog metal
ChiliLP I'd say Meshuggah would have been better for extreme prog metal or even some Djent, but not classic prog metal.
Yeah I was expecting a dream theater song as well.
Or Metropolis. Or the Dance of Eternity.
Thanks for including Drum and Bass, Dubstep and Jungle!
OMG Mr Brandon !! It's a true talent to know ALL of these styles, and not easy at all to play them one after another in a very short time. Thank you !!
How can someone not appreciate this effort...
6:56
Mozambique here!
I love Mozambique
51 - 60 is the metal section. just in case you didnt want to watch the whole thing
To be a master of drums is to be able to play them quietly
Andrew Wolfe this is true but drums are still normally the loudest acoustic instrument in a band
I wonder if the drum kit will ever be replaced or phased out as a sound in music. It didn't always exist but is now vital in so many styles. Has it's limitations now been reached. I wonder what the next instrument to revolutionise music will be.
my book just came in!!
Ybnmarcelo - Awesome!!
This is incredible! Just when I felt I hit a wall in my playing, this has changed my perception entirely. Thank you Brandon! Your content is amazing and a gift to all drummers!!!
7:57 : Stacked Actors - Foo Fighters
This is the dude inside the Casio keyboards
Hi( sorry for my bad English).
those Brazilian rhythms were performed with great mastery and good Brazilian molejo . congratulations from Brazil
Thank you! :)
Molejo kkkkkkkkkk só na malemolência
Super impressive to see this guy play all these styles on a four piece kit. And in a fluid manner too.
I don't think they're giving this guy enough credit. Go try this.
Frank Burdo - Cheers man!
When I started to compose some music I composed drum patterns first. Like placing building core structure.
6:16 GOJIRAAAAAA
"So, how many genres can you play?"
Brandon: " *All of them.* "
I've learned one important thing.
I love rock
Proud of the drummer and his Istanbul Agop's 🔥🔥🔥🔥
🔥
Awesome!!! Especially love the Latin beats towards the half end of the vid👍👍👍
I think by 75 to 85 Mike Mangini starts to get a heart attack. Good job boy!
I'm happy to see that you included some of my favorite brazilian genres, like Baião.
thank u for your performance.
The 101 one is the best style for me.
That was more like a solo
Incredible job, Brandon! Great job of editing as well.
marktaz1 - Thank you!
EXTREMELY helpful. Concise and yet wide ranging. Thank you.
Congratulation man!!! Amazing !!!
Pedro Vitor - Thank you 🙏🏻
Wow didn't expected Avishai Cohen Trio' song would be here

Fantastic!!!! Congrats!!!! Nooooiiizzzxxx 🤘
Nice return to forever cut, one of the best fusion records ever made.
Wow man ,i am really impressed on how u nailed all groves . It is so rare to see a non brazilian drummer Playing so Perfectly Rhythms of Brazil and U Did It .
I‘m sorry for everybody who doesn‘t watch till the end😉
🙂
0:03 is the one everyone can do
Wow
Getting through all that and making it sound smooth
#102 Random, off-beat loud noise - my personal favorite
it's honestly crazy how he can memorize 101 different beats and play them easily
This video is amazing! Love It!❤
Oh my God! Really great to see some brazilians styles!
Man.. Those shoes, those looked like really comfortable shoes.
David Baines - Confirmed!
1.) Many of these are styles I’ve never even heard of
2.) Incredibly impressive he was able to shift from one to the next
3.) I’m excited to try some of these new styles out!
Wow so many styles
The Latin stuff sounded amazing.
That's great. I'm impressed with your memory.
Drumeo, have you ever made a video on the half-time shuffle? Or can you give a tip on how to get into it.
I remember a video on toto rosanna which is very good, and basically a half timer shuffle tutorial
I talk about how to play 'Rosanna' by Toto here: ua-cam.com/video/XWkkmrIp01E/v-deo.html
Memory? He has the tracks in his earbuds he is just playing to.
They had Bernard Purdie in at some point, who's often credited with inventing the half time shuffle. That one is definitely a good place to start.
Beautiful cymbals.
That is amazing!
That was incredible! So much talent. I’m pretty sure I saw a video where that guy said he was a 2/10 drummer and I’d say he could use some reassessment on that scale!
your ripped it! thanks
This is beautiful man, tasteful drumming :)
Quentin Faulkner - Thank you very much! :)
101 is my favorite,it speaks to me when the screen showed"your own drum style"...on my other yt for my drumming (ScumDrummer Armando "encabronado" Najera) I created my own drum style called the scumbeat.
that kit sounds lit..............
Lightest ive ever heard anyone play teen spirit lol. Sounds like hes trying not to wake up his parents
quality time spent! gj
you played all the brazillian styles! your afoxé is amazing!
I love it all
Except
2:47
That's not how Johnny Cash's drummer Ever played that song
He played a shuffle using both the hi-hat and snare, *except* for the few times that he didn't use a hihat in the early 60's
I recommend looking up Johnny Cash's performance of that song in Denmark

The acoustic dubstep ❤
I didn't know Sing Sing Sing had a straight eighth note feel. LOL
love your style~
Thank you!
Loved the metal section
Wow that's an amazing sounding kit
TFW I'm a drummer mostly listening to metal but my favourite patterns are Contemporary Jazz and Half-Time Shuffle
That was so good 😊
So happy to hear some unexpected Sonata Arctica that I laughed out loud in public.
That's right!!
Brandon Toews great playing, too! That was a hell of a feat.
gdvsbp - Thanks! Definitely wasn’t easy to play through them all consecutively!
1:4/4 swing, 2-101 all the time signatures up to 94/4
Ending solo was the best
Que alegria em poder ver a bateria brasileira nesse vídeo. E parabéns ao batera que executou com perfeição! Top demais
Progressive rock.. porcupine tree .. Gavin Harrison
Aphex Twin is IDM. Techno is a bit different from IDM. Xtal was part of his "Selected Ambient Works."

Metal genres are not your best. But I’m sure the drummers watching can appreciate it all
Rly professional video and nice drumming heh 😏
Avishai cohen trio (contemporary jazz) is great!!!
great job

Gave me so much to learn... thank you!
Agop cymbals sounds amazing! My favourite style is 101.
Love my Agops! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Coño Brandon, de verdad sabes tocar cada uno de esos Ritmos y sus Variantes ?
Joder u R awesome
Can somebody please tell me what kind of cymbal he is using on the number 70 hip-hop track
