- Believe it or not, James May is actually a massive fan of social media, especially Twitter and UA-cam (and DriveTribe of course). But a place that he has never really ventured to before is TikTok, so we showed him some true video gems surrounding himself and his fellow Grand Tour chums. Some of them he found genuinely clever and inspired, but others seemed to leave him a bit cold...
James May’s absolute disgust at the low effort TikTok memes makes me happy.
Low effort is the bane of anyone who has a brain. Of course May would dislike it.

Reminds me why he's my favorite of the trio. TikTok is lowest common denominator, Marvel-tier trash, but I don't mind watching James May show complete and utter indifference to it.

The “some people don’t get older” really hit hard though. Remembered some of my high school classmates that never got old enough to graduate. I haven’t kept up with all my old classmates in the years since and statistically some of them are probably younger then me now and i don’t even know.

While YT shorts is genuinely terrible, Instagram at least has an algorithm that'll show you more things you found funny the more you like or interact with said genre of memes. I believe TikTok has something similar.

James, you and the rest of top gear are a pivotal point of my childhood, and when I was going through bullying, certain days I turned on top gear again and it got me through, despite you not really noticing people are inspired by you, and seeing you age along with Clarkson and Hammond, makes us sad, we hope to see you for many years more, and I wish you the best of health!
I second that although I am somewhat older than that. I am just 52 and have yet to find a compelling reason to buy my 1st car, or indeed to get a license to drive a car. Publi transport is fine for me and definately cost me less than having a car. I always watched TopGear as a any other entertainment show on tv, just with a car theme. Like Keeping Up Appearances where the theme is trying to appear different than you really are no matter how difficult it becomes - which is not of my mothers favourite shows.

My auto shop teacher played a few of his favorite Top Gear episodes when I was a sophomore in high school. I became a gearhead and a life long fan right after. Thank you so much for everything you have done. My Wife is also a huge fan and it is something we often share together.
