I found multiple airports where the taxiway figures are not the same as in FS2020... maybe that's only outside of the US, but it's a hassle. At this point you really need the taxi ribbon for you to know where the sim wants you.
Love the website for the airport diagrams, thanks so much. One thing I continue to struggle with is finding the gate numbers where the ground crew that helps me park are located. In real life, I've traveled a lot and have noticed that the gate numbers are on the jetways at the nicer airports which I see using the simulators would be a big help to pilots. What are folks using to find the gates so they can end their flights properly? I'm now leaning toward the taxi ribbon but consider it more of a cheat at this point I guess and distracts from the realism. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
@@neonz2712 I would, if there were any. Apart from a couple of major airports Skyvector likes to pretend the rest of the world doesn't exist. It'll all US-centric. The only sustainable solution is Navigraph.
Hi Craig Bennett II, first of all thanks for the tutorial. Your explanation is awesome. Can you make another tutorial on how to taxing in Heathrow airport on the instruction that the tower gave me on MSFS2020 please? the taxi instruction was to taxi to park via L12BL13AL11 BFG. I really appreciated, thanks.
I cannot get to the startup or taxi phases. Can someone please help me? Every time I start a flight from world map it starts me from the runway. I want an opportunity to learn how to startup, taxi, configure the FMC, etc. I bought FS Academy which is the only way I've been able to get a view of this. Please help, thanks! Some don't and some their actual map doesn't line up. If I run into that I just kinda cheat my way to whatever or say good enough. I think I showed it in the video where some airports the taxiways is so messed up it will break your plane.
I attempted to taxi at KCVG (Cinci/Northern KY) and it told me to hold Runway 27 via K Q H. That's well and good except Q isn't a valid taxiway at KCVG
There is a progressive taxi option in the assist menu, though sometimes it doesn't seem to work properly. This advice is more for people who are looking to do things a little more 'hardcore'.
Kinda. So what happens is the bigger planes like the airliners, they have the money to afford nice things. This is to include things that list all of that, and then some. Smaller aircraft might have the GPS units that is in most planes in this game (G1000). That could have it. But 99% of planes don't have this since a system like that can cost in the ballpark of $25k just for the hardware. And then there is a chance installing it could cause problems. Keep in mind most planes that are flying tend to be 50+ years old. Like the one I like was made in 1970 or 1980. This might sound old, but due ot FAA regulations they have to basically be rebuilt after so much time, and they have to have the upgrades required by the rest. Most of the planes flying over your head is that old because new planes can cost easily in the $500k area. Where the older stuff it can cost $40k or so depending on what it is. Like the Mooney M20M that I like you can get them down to $70k. But take a look at the dashboard and you will quickly find virtually none of them have any digital interface. In fact, some of the older planes don't even have auto pilot (which is something someone should add if they can IMO since that is only $6k).
When I tried to do taxi to the runway in LGSA airport the atc said some taxi way but in the airport diagram the letters was different, what to do in this case ?
Turn on the taxi ribbon in the settings. But I suggest just finding your on way to get to the runway. The simulation doesn't care which way you go about it
@@TheAIKnowledgeHub yea man but I want to make it realistic and like you not go random taxi way in real life you should not do it in the game. but unfortunately the in built atc taxi instructions is not accurate to the chart. that's why I asked for solution for this without enable the taxi ribbon
@@alonzamir5407 There isn't one. I think I even mentioned this problem at the end of this video. In some airports the taxiways are marked wrong. And then on top of that, some airports the taxiway could break your airplane. Like the only other solution is by somehow getting into the files, find the right area, make the right change, and hope the game doesn't crash and it worked. That or mod it in, and hope that works. But until then, I'm just going to say that you have to find your own way to and from the runway if things aren't lining up. One thing I suggest is letting the devs know about your problem and which airport. Maybe they will fix the problem down the road. Because this is a widespread issue, I'm sure they will fix all of them in 1 wack by getting the AI to fix it.
Sadly, you have to google the airports. Some has no diagrams at all, but normally it's much smaller ones. One thing that might help is airportguide.com/ , but I don't think that labels anything. It just gives you an idea of the layout. I believe the reason why this is a problem is one of the strictest countries when it comes to airports is the USA. And I think it's a law that demands all public and emergency airports in the USA to have a diagram. But I could be wrong.
The numbers on the runway represent the first two digits of the direction of the runway. So say runway 35L is the left runway if you are landing towards 350º-359º or almost north. That same runway should have the opposite direction of 17R.
Just got msfs 2020 as my first ever flight sim and im so glad i found you! Day one and im so lost haha. Thank you Mr Bennett!
Wow Craig ! What a master class on Taxing ! Thank you so much, particularly with your input on real scenarios and consequences.
Perfect timing! Thank you. Just tried taxing for the first time at ORD and was lost.
This is actually the first taxiing tutorial so far....well done mate and thanks.
Exactly what I needed.
The best explanation so far I ve found on the Internet. Keep up the good work!!!! Greetings from. argentina
Lots of great information. Ill be using this a lot in my recordings for my channel. Thanks
I'm totally not a pilot but I play MSFS2020 for fun and this was very useful, thank you!
My plan is to have the charts for my planned airports on a Kindle I have lying around. Easy way to have what I need.
Thanks for the helpful tutorial will be really useful for navigating heathrow

I thought I was doing something wrong, but MSFS is telling me to use taxiway D at KBNA, but I can't see it on the airport diagram.

AOPA doesn't work for the rest of the world.
Use SkyVector Airport Diagrams for other countries.

Is there a way to start from the hangar to taxi out on the runway ? (Xbox edition)
The signs are all yellow, but no writing on them on my Xbox. So i can’t tell what’s what

How can i start my aircraft in the GA parking, rather than everytime i open to play it's already in the runway please?
How did you open that new airport diagram please?
How you did that camera trick on 13:47 ???
How do u get the taxi on the display panel like that?

Ya it's like I said towards the end. Most of the airports are wrong, and you have to use your best judgment.
Where can I get free charts ? Help
There is no progressive taxi in flight simulator 2020? like the FSX
