It's actually thanks to you that I understand monk a bit better now. New to FFXIV, and pvp (literally just did my 6th ever duel within an hour of unlocking pvp but not doing anything as of this comment) Somehow managed to beat a machinist, ninja, and sage, then got my shiz rocked by a reaper and black mage. This was before I watched this video however...so let's see how much chaos I can cause now.
They go after Black Mages the most in CC but regardless, ffxiv isn't really made for PvP which is why there's lag. There's no real incredible rewards, some players cheat and win trade with each other in CC, and it's just a giant ego clash.
I love the cc Meteodrive has on a single target. Makes it easy for a pesky target to get jumped or in a 1v1 situation can catch them in environmental damage, granted you are healthy enough not to die either
Have been looking awhile now for insights other players might've had about optimizing Monk effectiveness, admittedly the video didn't really cover too much new ground outside of the Rising Phoenix + Enlightenment combo but I feel you've covered everything neatly and concisely in a pretty easily understood format, so big Like for that. Edit: Bonus points also for the gameplay footage demonstrating things in action, really good addition to the video! Tough class with high potential, and an absolute monster in the chaotic Frontlines. But when focused, oh boy, that Damage Resistance from Riddle of Earth, Thunderclap shield, and awkward animation pausing sure doesn't help it much; granted this all factors in to how the game itself plays between players. Overall, difficult thinking melee class, but very proactive and great when allowed to do its job. Now if only Crystalline Conflict matchmaking would stop making it fill tank roles on all ranged teams. :) That's enough rambling from me though, great content, thank you for the insights!
@@Tailionis besides the big combo, the rest come down to deciding weather or not its worth going for the kill, at which point you combo rising phoenix into which ever main rotation skill is next.
how did you get it to display the class type of your opponents next to their health bar? great video btw this has been a great guide as someone completely new to ffxiv pvp ^^
Would be awesome to know what is your strat for sticking to the same target so damn well, i know you do callouts, but you seem both to sync so well on exploding the same target. Do you use some focus target macros ? Or you just play together for so long its just telepathic link between you two? Please share your secret
@@pwojtcza so firstly we play a lot off game together we are used to each others play styles without thinking. It also helps we both tend to select our targets that are either closet - then chose the one that makes more sense to kill first or we go by targets we know have messed up, out off position or have no means off escape. Neither off us run macros we focus target each other, but we do often make the a joke that we focus the same players without thinking or communicating 100% playing together for a long time easily helps the most in just knowing what we are both going to do.
Very impressed with the way you slip in and out of crowds of enemies. When I try to do that I get stunned into next year and melted down so fast.

Glad it could help :D and welcome to FFXIV happy slaying :D
I played monk for the first time today and had a BLAST! Monk is definitely a pesky tank killer!
Damn right people got to respect what a Monk can do :D

Good video, helps me to know how to counter the monk knowing what they want to do
The uprising begins.

I have to say it, u do the best pvp guides on youtube.
Too kind :D
The one I've been waiting for!!!
Fingers crossed you enjoy :D.
@@salamanderYT it's pretty good. Would have liked to see more combos without lb tho.

@@salamanderYT true true I'm reviewing the big combo and brainstorming ideas as well
@@Tailionis As long as you always got dashes, and can do the big main combo, smaller combos will become second nature to you without thinking.
I guess... being good with Lee Sin in League Of Legends could potentially help play monk a little bit..?
I don't now who that is sorry XD the only League of Legends I have seen is Arcane :D

It was on by default I will try to see if there is a setting for it when I am next on and let you know. And thanks glad you enjoyed :D
i figured it out -- had titles turned off and somehow that option also translates to pvp opponent class designations lmao
@@TwinAngels02 good to know encase I ever turn my off by accident XD
First
Always ;)

Such a fun class in pvp but pain in pve 🤣 by far hated Rotation job. Well done Sala
It is also my PVE main XD just the other day our group got through the latest trail it is not monk friendly XD, much appreciated
What pvp is this??? I’ve only seen crystal conflict
Frontline three teams of 24 against each other with 4 different maps with different objects that rotate each day.
