it was stale for a long time. the game also needs more social features like chat bubbles or voice chat. and in pvp u just watch stupidlly large names not actual models. and afcors combat itself is a bit outdated. hope new ffxiv has ability to tame open world monsters as your mount and blue mage class be able to play in pvp. watch the kings avatar animation

When i started to try out pvp i started looking for guides and when i foudn yours i was a little iffy, but i always found myself coming back to them. You're honestly doing a great job and i appreciate the effort you put out to help new players like myself. +1 sub
Yeah I just started pvp, am doing 10 times less damage than any other player on the game, dying in 2 seconds flat and feeling like complete shit because I'm just not getting it
I've been looking around for someone to finally explain this class to me, and even with another person's explanation, i can't help but feel like this class is still pretty damn underwhelming, especially in CC. In frontline i guess there's more buffer for people to pay less attention to you and ignore you for being a tank job, but compared to all your other options, the only nice thing about dark knight is salted earth's vaccuum+bind combo. you're sacrificing so much health just to deal damage (and it's not even that much), and in CC, you're just gonna get ninja executed or instantly blown up before you can really do much about it. The healing doesn't even justify the returns. You have to hit a lot of people with quietus and by the time it's a good idea to pop it, I find most of your enemies are walking away from you anyway. I love dark knight, and I love greatswords, but I seriously think this class needs a lot of love to make it work on match with everything else. Compared to PLD, you have less presence in general. Paladin has 2 dashes and an escape (cover to an ally), a better barrier that provides damage reduction, and it also heals just as much as DRK with sword oath and sacred claim, and Phalanx is just outright better than living dead. Both charge at similar rates, with Eventide being 15 seconds faster. Then on top of that, warrior is just outright better than both of those classes i've mentioned.
the hardest thing in FF14 PVP is to be matched with not half brainded players who know what's salted earth is, 90%of the time you are alone and nobody is following up, and you just die because majority of FF14 players are little pussies who afraid to engage yet goes to PVP and wastes everyone's time.

A lot of time has passed since this guide most player know what Dark Knights are and what they do being hard focused is now common, nowadays you might want to pre pop purify to engage sometimes, and wait for the others teams to be in combat before engaging off distractions, if you play with friends it does get easier. Monks and Warriors are some off your biggest threats many hold there ability's just for Dark knights diving in
I don't know how you have the survivability. Even if I jump into a group of 2/3 players it feels like I get immediately 2-tapped. I'd love to actually get into PVP in this game but in all honesty it just doesn't click. Glad to see the scene getting bigger for those who enjoy it though
Helps once you know what other classes do, plus now you have the option of pre popping purifies DRK is one off those rolls you need to suffer on for awhile for everything to click
killing those ppl looks so easy to you but whenever i play drk now on frontlines im like how does he get those ppl so easy in his salted earth it never works to me either im just super bad at dark knight in pvp or gamerpad targeting is superior on pvp than mouse xD
They need to rework DK imo. I like that it has healing reducy, but havinf abilities that have to put you at 1HP is not fun. The ultimate should he similar to warriors, but have bloodspiller stack a healing absorption debuff on the target that stacks during ultimate would be cool.
Eventide just seems awful. I swear even if I'm full health I feel like I activate it and don't see anyone's health bars even budge a little. I should be devastating people since I'm dropping my own health to 1

Everytime i salted earth i can hear the player behind the scream yelling whenever i follow it up with the LB

Fingers crossed in the 6.35 patch we might see a buff to Dark knights

I've seen DRKs combat this issue by using chat macros to announce when they're going to use salted earth.

How do you have your 1,2,3 combo all set to the same button? I need that. Unless that's a PC only thing.
Every jobs main rotation is one button you will find them in the PVP log book

It is how it has been since the 6.1 rework, Not sure if there is a setting to turn it on and off.

Not sure if salted earth is different for everyone based on connection, mine goes down instantly with no issue snagging players nearby.
